BLACKSHEAR -- David E. Crocker, 68, died Jan. 14 at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center in Brunswick.
He was a native of Johnson, N.C., and a resident of Pierce County the past 15 years. He was a retired sign painter and a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church of Blackshear.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Mary Alice Crocker of Blackshear; five sons, Richard E. and Timothy S. Crocker, both of Blackshear, and Greg, Stephen L., and David W. Crocker, all of Smyrna; a daughter, Cathy Baird of Marion, Ind.; a sister, Sandra Kicklighter of Odum; a brother, Bobby Crocker of Interlachen, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

DARIEN -- Mrs. Carrie Lemon, 85, died Jan. 10 at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center.
She was born in McIntosh County and graduated from Cuyler School in Savannah. She was a homemaker and a member of First African Baptist Church.
SURVIVORS: daughters, Cleo Lemon, Clovis L. Spaulding and Elaine J. Jackson, all of Darien; a son, Hercules Lemon Jr., of Darien; sisters, Alice Mack and Alfreda Allen, both of Carneghan; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was born and educated in Montgomery County. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Candler County. She was a retired bookkeeper for Metter Nursing Home and a homemaker. She was a member of the nondenominational.

RICHMOND HILL -- Holly Rachel Anderson, 18, died Jan. 14 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C.
She was a native of Fort Knox, Ky. She was a member of Saint Annes Catholic Church in Richmond Hill.
SURVIVORS: her parents, Dr. William Ray Anderson Jr. and Winifred Rebecca Otworth Anderson, both of Richmond Hill; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Louis Otworth of Franklin Furnace and Mr. and Mrs. William Ray Anderson Sr. of Portsmouth; three sisters, Heidi Raschel Hunter, Heather Rae Anderson and Hope Rebecca Anderson, all of Richmond Hill; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

SYLVANIA -- George Bangs, 95, died Jan. 12 in Savannah.
He was a native of Screven County and retired from the cotton gin industry. He was a member of Waters Grove.
SURVIVORS: a son, Ernest Bangs of Sylvania; a daughter, Jerry A. Roberts of Bronx, N.Y.; four sisters, Ethel Davis, Beatrice Anderson and Corine Hamilton, all of Savannah, and Mary Grant of Statesboro.

Bonnie Bast
SEA ISLAND -- Mrs. Bonnie Bast died Jan. 14 at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center, Brunswick.
She was a native of Canon City, Colo., and had been a resident of Sea Island since 1993. She was a graduate of Michigan State University. She was a nationally accredited master judge for the Federated Garden Clubs of America, where she judged flowers shows in Atlanta and in New York. She served on the Board of Directors for Save the Children and was a member of Christ Church Frederica on St. Simons Island.
SURVIVORS: her husband, Charles W. Bast of Sea Island; a daughter, Laura Russo of Sea Cliff Long Island, N.Y.; two sons, Kevin Bast of Babylon Long Island, N.Y., and Brian Bast of Huntington ,Long Island, N.Y.; a brother, Robert Essert of California; and four grandchildren.

DENMARK -- Rufus Burnsed Jr., 70, died Jan. 15 at home.
The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was an Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired Civil Service employee and of the Primitive Baptist Faith.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Yvonne Fordham Burnsed of Denmark; a daughter, Rhonda Burnsed Sims of Ellabell; two grandchildren, Jessica Sims and Tucker Sims, both of Ellabell; two sisters, Arlene Morgan and Lois B. TOWNSEND -- Mrs. Cathleen Calhoun Cauley, 77, died Jan. 15 at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center, Brunswick.
She was a native of Treutlen County and had been a resident of McIntosh County for the past 30 years. She attended Darien Church of God, was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening.
SURVIVORS: a son, Elmer Joe Cauley Sr. of Meridian; a brother, Moody Vaughn Calhoun of Baltimore; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

BROOKLET -- Clisby Denmark, 80, died Jan. 15 at Bulloch Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Bulloch County and retired from Interstate Life Insurance Co. He was an Army veteran of World War II and recipient of two bronze stars. He was a member and deacon of Red Hill Primitive Baptist Church.

VARNVILLE, S,C, -- Mrs. Joyce O'Della Doctor, 46, died Jan. 11 at Medical University of South Carolina Hospital, Charleston.
She was a native of Hampton County and a member of Harmonia Baptist Church. She was a 1970 graduate of Wade Hampton High School.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- John E. Graves Sr., 75, of Washington, D.C, and formerly of Pineland, S.C., died Jan. 12 at home.
He was a native of Jasper County, S.C., a member of Mount Zion AME Church, Garnett, S.C. He was a brick mason.
SURVIVORS: his wife of 53 years, Ella Bing Graves of Washington, D.C; four sons, John E. Graves Jr. and Ronald K. Graves, both of Washington, D.C., Thomas A. Graves of Washington, Md., and Donald D. Thomas G. Groover
HINESVILLE -- Thomas Glenn Groover, 76, died Jan. 14 at Liberty Regional Medical Center.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Liberty County. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class and Consite Retirees Breakfast Group. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the 8th Army Air Force where he was an engineer on a B-17 bomber that was shot down by a German M-109 over Germany. He was then captured as a P.O.W. where he was imprisoned in a camp of 1700 for 15 months. He was awarded several medals including the Air Medal, Purple heart with an oak leaf cluster and a P.O.W. medal. He retired from the National Guard after more than 22 years of service.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Marjorie B. Groover; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Joseph S. Ashmore and Barbara and Terry Wheeler, all of Hinesville; a brother, Olin H. Groover of Ludowici; three sisters, Wilma Tabb of Texas, Audrey Mayer of Columbus, and Eleanor Woodall of Ludowici; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

EVERETT -- Cleavy B. Harrelson, 95, died Jan. 14 in Sunbridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation of the Golden Isles in Brunswick.
She was a native of Lincolnton, N.C., and former resident of Alamo, Ga., having lived in Everett since 1938. She attended the Everett Baptist Church and was a housewife.
SURVIVORS: two sons, Charles Howard of Eatonton, Ga., and Thomas E. Mauney Jr. of Everett; three sisters, Marie Tindall of Savannah, Virginia Kaplin of Atlanta, and Mildred Kegebin of Tifton; a brother, T. Earl Mauney of Everett; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Anne S. Hicks
HILTON HEAD ISLAND -- Anne Sherrard Hicks, 89, died Jan. 14 at Memorial Health University Medical Center, Savannah.
She was a native of Pittsburgh and had attended Wellesley College and Simmons College in Boston. She lived in Natrona Heights, Pa., until 1968, where she was active in community affairs including a term as President of the Allegheny Valley Civic Club and as founder and treasurer of the Gift Shop at the Allegheny Valley Hospital. After moving to Hilton Head Island, she became an active member of the United States Power Squadron, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Yacht Club of Hilton Head and Sea Pines Country Club. She also volunteered at the Bargain Box.
SURVIVORS: her husband, Dr. Laurence C. Hicks of Hilton Head Island; a sister, Patricia S. Stuart of Sewickley, Pa.; three sons, Nelson C. Hicks of Charleston, Laurence C. Hicks Jr. of Lakewood, Colo., and Stephen S. Hicks of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Jane Hicks Ludick of Littleton, Colo.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Emanuel County and was retired from GFF, Soperton. He was a member of Midway Methodist Church, Treutlen County.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Betty Wiggins Lamb, 59, died Jan. 14 in Gainesville.
She was a native of Jenkins County and a former resident of Wadley, Ga. She had lived in Gainesville for the past 18 years, was a retired supervisor with K Mart Industries and a member of Millen Baptist Church.
SURVIVORS: her husband, Neal Lamb of Gainesville, Fla.; two daughters, Cheryle Polan of Wadley, Ga., and Tamera Gaskins of Fort Hood, Texas; a son, Michael Lamb of Gainesville; two brothers, John Marvin Wiggins of Montgomery, Ala., and Kenneth Wiggins of Millen, Ga.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
