Mrs. Evelyn Elaine Anderson Nadeau, 72, died Jan. 14 at Candler Hospital. She was a native of Brunswick and was retired from Tetley Tea Co. after 32 years of service as a tea packer.

Hazel D. Sapp
GLENNVILLE -- Hazel D. Sapp, 90, died Jan. 14 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah. He was a native of Tattnall County, a farmer, who also worked at Fort Stewart in the 1940s, and a retired school bus driver. He was the oldest living member of Loves Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. He was a Mason.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Evelyn K. Sapp of Glennville; a son, Jerry Sapp of Glennville; a daughter, Judy Tippins of Hinesville; four brothers, Thad Sapp and Prentice Sapp, both of Savannah, Otis Sapp and Russell Sapp, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; six sisters, Trudy Arbuckle, Lois Starland, Eula Mae Lanier and Eva Martin, all of Jacksonville, Fla., Bertha Todd of Bristol and Laverne Harris of Jesup; one grandson, one granddaughter, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

T. Roe Scott
STATESBORO -- Elder T. Roe Scott, 86, died Jan. 15 at Candler County Hospital in Metter. He was a native of Dekalb County, Ala., and was a retired Primitive Baptist preacher, retiring in 1980. He served as pastor of the Miami, Tampa, Fla., Statesboro and Middleground Primitive Baptist Churches from 1950 until 1980. After retirement he continued to preach at other churches in several states until 1989. He was a past member of the Rotary, Kiwanis and Lions clubs, and was a 50-year Mason.
SURVIVORS: his wife of 64 years, Ethlyn H. Scott of Statesboro; a son, Jimmy Scott of Appling; two daughters, Elaine Richter of Statesboro and Rose Ann Hoban of Appling; a sister, Merita Hauserman of Lake Toxaway, N.C.; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

JESUP -- Alvernor Smith, 66, died Jan. 14 in Wayne Memorial Hospital. The Pierce County native and former resident of Ridgeland, S.C., had lived in Wayne County, Ga., for the past 18 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a retired Supervisor of Waynline Inc. He was an Army veteran.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Margaret L. Smith of Jesup; three daughters, Rhonda Malphrus and Deeann Sanders, both of Ridgeland, S.C. and Lorraine Mixon of Hampton, S.C.; a stepdaughter, Renee Lewis of Beaufort; a son, Wayne Smith of Ridgeland, S.C.; his mother, Eula S. GLENNVILLE -- Warnell Stanfield, 61, died Jan. 14 at Bulloch Memorial Hospital. The Tattnall County native was a retired truck driver for the logging industry.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Peggy Stanfield of Glennville; three daughters, Cindy Jarriel, Sandra Cason and Janet Anderson, all of Glennville; three sons, Leslie Stanfield and Keith Stanfield, both of Glennville, and, Mitchell Stanfield of Claxton; six sisters, Edith Driggers, Estelle Durrence, Geneva Jackson, and Bertie Lou Parker, all of Glennville, Esel Ray of Rincon, and Marie Carraway of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; a brother, H.A. Valda Whitman
BAXLEY -- Valda Whitman, 86, died Jan. 15 in Appling County Convalescent Center. She was a native of Stephens County and had resided in Baxley since 1995. She retired from Chrysler Corp. where she was employed as a teletype operator. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Baxley.

Allen N. Willis
Allen N. Willis, 83, died Jan. 13 at Calhoun Liberty Hospital in Blountstown, Fla. He was a native and lifelong resident of Savannah and a communicant of St. James Catholic Church. He was a retired salesman from MECO, Incorporated, and a member of Savannah Golf Club, LaVida Country Club and Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks.

Charles J. Yankauskas
Charles J. Yankauskas, 84, died Jan. 14 at Effingham County Hospital. He was a native of New Britain, Conn., and the widower of Elizabeth Morgan Yankauskas. He served in the Army in 1934 until 1937 and retired from the Air Force, having served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired with the rank of Master Sergeant after 23 years of service. He was a member of Solomon's Lodge No. 1, F. & A.M.'s, the Scottish Rite Consistory-Valley of Savannah, Oriental Band at Alee Shrine Temple and the Forest City Gun Club.
SURVIVORS: two sons, Richard A. Yankauskas of Shalimar, Fla., and John Tassey of Athens; a daughter, Ann Norton of Savannah; a brother, Anthony Yankauskas of Vermont; two grandchildren, Andrea Pemberton of Idaho and Christopher Yankauskas of Niceville, Fla.; a great-grandson, Corey Allen Pemberton of Idaho; and a number of nieces and nephews.

SKOKIE, Ill. -- Faye Zand, 93, died Jan. 14 at Memorial Health University Medical Center. She was a native of Chicago and lived there most of her life. She was a member of Skokie Valley Traditional-Agudath Achim Synagogue. She was the widow of William Zand.
SURVIVORS: a son, Louis Zand of Brookline, Mass.; a daughter, Leah Marks of Philadelphia; two granddaughters, Michele Raskin of Savannah and Nicole Marks of Philadelphia; five grandsons, Dr. Jay Zand of Raritan, N.J., Mitchell Zand of Highland Park, Ill., Richard Zand of Buffalo Grove, Ill., Adam Zand of Cambridge, Mass., and Nathan Zand of Boston; and four great-grandchildren. Jonah "Jay" Bryant IV, 15, died Jan. 14 at Memorial Health University Medical Center. He was a native of Savannah. A former student of Savannah High School, he was attending Herschel V. Jenkins High School, in the 10th grade. He was also in the NROTC. He was a member of Brampton Baptist Church and served on the Usher Board.

Edward W. Cole
Edward Walter Cole Sr., 65, died Jan. 16 at Memorial Health University Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Savannah and a member of Bull Street Baptist Church. He retired as a locomotive engineer with the Norfolk Southern Railroad and served as safety chairman for the Savannah district of the Georgia Division of Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a member and former local chairman of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Division 646. He was an Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean conflict, and a member of American Legion Post No. 184. He was an active volunteer with the Southside Fire Department for more than 20 years and a member of the Georgia State Fireman's Association.
