He was a native of the District of Columbia. He lived at the Rose of Sharon in Savannah for seven years until July 1999. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a bellhop for various hotels and airports.

LOUISVILLE -- Linda Livesay Lamb, 50, died Jan. 3 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C.
She was born in Jefferson County. She was a retired hairdresser and a member of Louisville United Methodist Church. She worked for many years as a stylist for Styles by Joseph in Macon.

MILLEN -- Leroy Lambert, 73, died Jan. 4 at Bulloch Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Jenkins County. He was a state highway maintenance employee and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Elam Baptist Church and retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation Highway Maintenance Division.
SURVIVORS: two sons, Charles L. Lambert of Swainsboro and Thomas E. Lambert of Millen; a brother, Robert Clyde Lambert of Albany; two sisters, Pearl L. Wiggins and Evon L. Joiner, both of Millen; and two grandchildren.

Duncan M. McAllister
Duncan M. McAllister, 88, died Jan. 4 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.
He was native of Montgomery County and a resident of Savannah for 47 years. He was the widower of Etheleene D. McAllister. He was a master carpenter and before retiring supervised the restoration of numerous historic Savannah properties, including the Oliver Sturges and Minis houses.
He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, had served on the Administrative Board and was a former member of the C.L. Morse Men's Bible Class.
SURVIVORS: a daughter and son-in-law, Melba and Bob Priestley of Savannah; two grandsons, Rob Priestley of Savannah and Rus Priestley of Charlottesville; three granddaughters and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was a native of Early County. She was the widow of Bervin Edivan Meeks and was a retired registered nurse and a member of Nicholls Baptist Church.

GLENNVILLE -- Morgan Cecil Powell, 89, died Jan. 3 at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia after a long illness.
He was a lifelong resident of Tattnall County. He was a retired farmer, an Army veteran and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Iona Powell of Glennville; three sons, Jimmie E. Powell of Honea Path, S.C., Tommie G. Powell of Eustis, Fla., and Johnny C. He was born in Chatham County and attended Woodville High School. He retired from Georgia Ports Authority and was a member of Port Wentworth Baptist Church.

RICHMOND HILL -- Gilbert Zall, 85, died Jan. 4 at home.
He was a native of Hudson County, N.J., and recently moved to Richmond Hill from Bayonne, N.J., where he lived most of his life. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart after being wounded during the Battle of the Bulge.
He was a member of the 42nd Club in New Jersey and the Jewish War Veterans Organization. He was a member of a synagogue in Bayonne.
SURVIVORS: a daughter, Susan Zall Bilak of Richmond Hill; a son, Barry Zall of Cocoa, Fla.; four sisters, Rebecca Serecsko, Gertrude Rector, Hashie Flora and Joyce Vetro, all of New Jersey; a brother, Benjamin Zall of New Jersey; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was born in Richmond Hill and lived in Savannah most of her life. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and a retired nurse's aide from Westside Urban Health Center.
SURVIVORS: a daughter, Joyce J. Broomfield of Savannah; a son, Eugene R. Johnson of Savannah; two sisters, E. Delores Shellman and Rosa Lee Jones, both of Savannah; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

NICHOLLS -- Roy Meeks, 81, died Jan. 3 at Tift General Hospital.
He was born in Bacon County and served as a board member for the Bacon County Department of Family and Children Services for 32 years, retiring in 1999. He was a retired farmer and carpenter.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Etta Mae Thompson Meeks of Nicholls; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne Meeks of Macon and Jerod Meeks and Sandy Meeks of St. Augustine, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda O'Brien and John O'Brien of Tifton; two brothers, Stanford Meeks of Macon and D.L. Salvatore F. Mu
HILTON HEAD ISLAND -- Salvatore F. "Sal" Mu, 79, of Sun City died Jan. 4 at Hilton Head Medical Center.
He was born in Sardinia, Italy, and lived most of his life in Hornell, N.Y. He was a 1938 graduate of Hornell High School and also a graduate of Bryant & Stratton Business Institute Inc. He was employed at S.K.F. Industries in Hornell as a comptroller for many years and was also self-employed as an accountant for many years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a communicant of St. Ann's Church and a member of Hornell Knights of Columbus, both in Hornell. He was active in community affairs and had served on the board of directors of Hornell Chamber of Commerce and as PTA president. He was an avid golfer and a member of Hornell Country Club and had served as country club president.
He retired to Hilton Head Island and served as a "ranger" at the Harbour Town Golf Course and as chief usher at Holy Family Catholic Church. Most recently, he lived in Sun City and attended St. Andrews Church.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Hazel Cosner Mu of Hilton Head Island; two sons, John Mu of Elmira, N.Y., and Richard Mu of Jacksonville, N.C.; five daughters, Anne Miller of Manlius, N.Y., Theresa Thiel of Clifton Park, N.Y., Marguerite Mu of Jupiter, Fla., Mary Martin of Freeport, Mass., and Diane Coddington of Amherst, N.Y.; a brother, John Mu of Hornell; a sister, Marie Hird of Randallstown, Md.; 13 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

RIDGELAND -- Josh Pinckney Jr., 49, died Dec. 31 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
He was born in Ridgeland and was a landscaper for Sea Pines Plantation on Hilton Head Island for 27 years. He was a member of First Heyward Baptist Church of Ridgeland and served on the Usher Board.
SURVIVORS: his mother, Wilhelmenia Frazier Pinckney of Ridgeland; five brothers, Thomas Pinckney, Earnest David Pinckney, Curtis Bolden and Marvin Bolden, all of Ridgeland, and Isaac Pinckney Sr. of Nyack, N.Y.; two sisters, Joy Evett Doe and Doris Bolden, both of Ridgeland; a brother-in-law, Moses Doe of Ridgeland; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was a native of Philadelphia and a resident of Glynn County for 31 years. He practiced as a surgeon for 32 years in Philadelphia and for 31 years in Glynn County.
SURVIVORS: a daughter, Marjorie Nelson of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Beth Westney of Sugarland, Texas, Ruth Schwartz of Feasterville, Pa., and Marg Hunter of Churchville, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
