PROSPERITY Chloe Moore Dennis, 48, of 770 Bethel Church Road, widow of Bennett C. Dennis, died April 18, 2000, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center. Born in Prosperity, she was a daughter of Myra Bowers Moore and the late George S. Moore. She was a manager of the EKG Department at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 22 years and a co-treasurer of the church. She was also a member of the American Society of Echo Cardiology. Survivors include her mother of Prosperity; two sisters, Ramona Moore of Prosperity and Vivian Gore of Myrtle Beach; two brothers, Tommy Moore of Kinards and Randy Moore of Prosperity. FLORENCE James Frank Gambrell, 83, of 515 S. Warley St., died April 17, 2000, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. Born in Westminster, he was a son of the late Patrick Henry and Lillie Mae Barker Gambrell. He was a retired contractor with Rowlett Construction Co. and a member of the Kiwanis Club and Chamber of Commerce, all of Dallas, Texas. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club and Chamber of Commerce in St. Petersburg, Fla. He was a member of Oakway Wesleyan Church and a former member of Seminole United Methodist Church, Seminole, Fla., Pendleton United Methodist Church and Greenwood Wesleyan Church. He was a past president of the Florida Home Builders Association and National Home Builders Association. Survivors include a son, Frank Donald Gambrell of St. Petersburg; a daughter, Shirlee G. Allen of Gallivants Ferry; three brothers, Jake Gambrell and Ray Gambrell, both of Oakway and Dan Gambrell of Greenwood; a sister, Alta Lee Moore of Oakway; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. GREENWOOD Estelle Terry McCuen, 92, formerly of 150 Henderson St., widow of John A. McCuen, died April 18, 2000, in Greenwood. Born in Georgia, she was a daughter of the late T.D. and Cora Lee Hembree Dailey. She retired from Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant, and was a member of South Greenwood Church of God and the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class of the church. She was twice married, first to the late Lonnie C. Terry. Survivors include a son, Lon Terry of Anderson; a daughter, Donna Sellars of Spartanburg; three sisters, Lillie Streetman of Athens, Ga., Ollie Grace Smith of Dallas, N.C. and Thelma Hardy of Gastonia, N.C.; a brother, Edward Dailey of Gastonia; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. SILVERSTREET Henry Walter Werts, 84, of 822 Werts Road, widower of Ella Mae Johnson Werts, died April 18, 2000. Born in Newberry, he was a son of the late Edwin Lewis and Annie Elizabeth Lake Werts. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and a retired employee of Champion Paper Co. He was a former employee of Lake Machine Shop and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Silverstreet Ruritan Club. He was also a former volunteer fireman. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Robert E. (Peggy Jean) Barker of Lexington and Gayle Wood of Spartanburg; three sisters, Narvis Hunter and Mildred Boozer, both of Silverstreet and Katherine Simpson of Greenville; a brother, William Thomas Werts of Newberry; three step-granddaughters and eight step-great-grandchildren. Born in Johnston, she was a daughter of the late John Martin and Bessie Randall Yonce and foster daughter of the late Jesse Franklin. She was the last member of her immediate family. He was the owner of Henry Berry Directional Boring Inc. and was a Methodist. EDGEFIELD Jutta Mae Williamson Berry, 71, of 1161 Highway 25 North, wife of Clifford C. Berry, died April 21, 2000, at University Hospital. Born in Lexington County, she was a daughter of Joseph B. and Josephine Chavis Williamson. She was a retired textile worker and a member of Berea Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Julie Brown of Edgefield; two sons, Joseph Berry of Aiken and Robert Berry of Sumter; four brothers, Joseph Williamson Jr. of Aiken, Frankie Williamson of Ninety Six and Clifford Williamson and James Williamson, both of Edgefield; four sisters, Irene Longo of Endicott, N.Y., Frances Talbert and Gladys Brown, both of Edgefield and Annis Kneece of Trenton; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Willie Earl Huffman
HONEA PATH Willie Earl Huffman, 80, of 21 E. Glendale St., died April 20,2000. Born in Donalds, he was the son of the late Calvin and Carrie Babbs Huffman. He was a member of Mt. Olive AME Church and a retired concrete finisher from Camlot Concrete, Woodbridge, Va. He was a World War II Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Eva Mae Adams Huffman of the home; a daughter, Jennie Ruth Smith of Honea Path; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, by the Revs. Kenneth Harrison and James Aiken. Burial will be in the church cemetery. GREENWOOD Johnny Lee Turner, 57, of 1608 Evans Pond Road, died April 21, 2000 at Self Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Joe Mims and Hazel Conway Turner. He was a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church in Waterloo. Survivors include two daughters, Sandra M. Walker and Tina H. Walker, both of Greenville; two brothers, Jimmy Mims and Terry Lee Mims, both of Laurens; seven sisters, Betty Turner Simpson of Greenwood, Betty Joe Grant, Margaret Valentine, Mary Alice Miller and Jenna Faye Smith, all of Laurens, Diane Byrd of Greenville, Sarah Briggs of Clinton; and three grandchildren. Services will be announced by Goins Funeral Home, Laurens, which is in charge.

PELZER Bertie Stone Bagwell, 93, of 11 Green St., died April 26, 2000, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include three sons, Willie J. Bagwell of Bath, Arthur V. Bagwell Jr. of Williamston and Edward Bagwell of Anderson; five daughters, Betty Woodson and Edna Davis, both of Pelzer, Evelyn Stone and Mary Stelling, both of West Pelzer and Doris Pitts of Ware Shoals; a brother, Luther Stone; three sisters, Willie M. Bayne, Carrie Stone and Marie Manley; 27 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and a number of great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 Friday at Gray Mortuary, with burial in Washington Baptist Church Cemetery.

ABBEVILLE Edwin Leo Burton, 76, of 106 Florence St., husband of Gertrude Smith Sprouse Burton, died April 26, 2000, at Hospice House of Anderson.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Crawford Leo and Inez Patterson Burton. He was a retired machinist with Monsanto of Greenwood and a World War II Air Force veteran. He was a member of Little River Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon and former chairman of the Board of Deacons. He was twice married, first to the late Elizabeth Creswell Burton.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Edwin P. Burton of Mauldin and Johnnie L. Burton of Westfield, N.C.; three stepsons, Thomas C. Purdy of Kernersville, N.C. and Michael E. Sprouse and J. Daniel Sprouse, both of Greenwood; two sisters, Judy Gambrell of Honea Path and Jean Murdock of Belton; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Little River Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Charles Fuller and the Rev. Jerry Pickens. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his mother of Great Falls; a son, Richie Evans of Great Falls; a daughter, Andre Evans Shepherd of Irmo; three brothers, Clyde Evans of Ware Shoals, Heyward Evans and Tommy Evans, both of Great Falls; and three grandchildren.

Born in Greenwood County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Walter Eugene and Janie Thompson Cooper. She was a member of North Cleveland Church of God.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Jerry Goff and John Wally Goff, both of Nashville, and Dale Goff and Don Goff, both of Cleveland, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.
Services were at 11:30 a.m. today at North Cleveland Church of God, conducted by the Rev. Mitch Maloney, the Rev. T.R. Morse and Paul Conn. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Ben and Eva Mae Cannon Moore. He was a member of Vaughnville Baptist Church.

GREENWOOD Emma Ruth Moore, 87, of 106 Peachtree St., formerly of 526 Hall St., widow of Ernest Moore Sr., died April 27, 2000, at the home of a niece.
Born in Edgefield County, she was a daughter of the late George Kemp Sr. and Adeline Fuller Kemp. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church, where she was a former member of the senior choir and the Willing Workers Club. She was a former employee of the Old Greenwood Nursing Home (now National Health Care).
Survivors include a sister, Addie McAdams of Due West; a stepson, Ernest Moore Jr. of Greenwood; a step-granddaughter and five step-great-grandchildren; and a niece with whom she lived, Willie Belle Parker.
The family is at the home of her niece, 106 Peachtree St., Magnolia Place.

Born in Oconee County, she was a daughter of the late George and Della Rogers Kelly. She was a former employee of Defore Mills and J.P. Stevens. She was a member of Westminster Baptist Church and a former member of Westminster Garden Club.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Padgett of Auburn, Ala. and David Padgett of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Jackie Fowler of Campobello and Pat Sharpe of Taylors; a sister, Frankie Veronee of Westminster; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Born in Abbeville County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late George and Christana {* cq *} Fair Boyd. She was the last survivor of her immediate family. She was a former school teacher in Mount Carmel, S.C. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a former member of Shady Grove AME Church, Abbeville.
Survivors include a daughter, Berlinda {* cq *} Yvonne Jamison of Williamstown; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 3 Tuesday at Shady Grove AME Church, conducted by the Revs. Larry Merrill and Jo Jackson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2.

ANDERSON Joel Mitchell McElhannon Sr., 58, of 2815 Waccamaw Trail, husband of Elizabeth Blackwell McElhannon, died April 27, 2000, at his home.
Born in Clinton, he was a son of Bernice Prather McElhannon and the late Grady McElhannon. He retired as an Army master sergeant, serving in Europe, the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict. He was a retired U.S. Postal Service worker and a member of Lydia Mills Baptist Church, Clinton.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother of Clinton; three sons, Joel M. McElhannon of Chesapeake, Va., Jeffrey Edward McElhannon of Camp Pendleton, Calif., and John G. McElhannon of Fort Meade, Md.; two brothers, James McElhannon of Clinton and Claude A. McElhannon of Greenwood; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 Monday at McDougald Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Kyle Antone. Burial will be in Forrest Lawn Memorial Park, with Military Rites.
Visitation is from 4-6 today at the funeral home.

Helen Shelkoff
SAVANNAH, Ga. Helen Anita Sonenshine Shelkoff, 69, wife of Rufus H. Shelkoff, died April 29, 2000, at her home.
Born in Charleston, S.C., she was co-owner of Shelkoff s Department Store in Ninety Six, S.C. for 35 years. She was a member of Congregation B nai Brith Jacob Synagogue, the Sisterhood, Hadassah and the Jewish Educational Alliance. She was a volunteer worker at the Rambam Day School and a former volunteer with "Meals on Wheels" in Ninety Six.
Survivors include her husband of Savannah; a son, Leon J. Shelkoff of Statesboro; two daughters, Lynda S. Freedman of Savannah and Bernice S. Mellman of Marietta; three brothers, Irvin, Philip and Benjamin Sonenshine, all of Charleston; and eight grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 3 today at Bonaventure Cemetery.
The family will sit Shiva at 206 Groveland Circle, Savannah.
