Allie Cohen Rogers, 71, of 109 Rogers Lane died Aug. 20, 1999, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Spartanburg County, she was daughter of the late Andrew and Eliza Nesbitt Cohen. She was a member of Foster Chapel Baptist Church, where she served as a Deaconess, a member of the Usher Board and a member of the Missionary Auxiliary. She was a member of the Wofford Chapel Humane Society. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Roberta Liberty Chapter No. 133. She was a graduate of Foster Chapel High School in Roebuck and Apex Cosmetology College of New York.
Survivors include her husband, Oree F. Rogers of the home; a son, Rawn R. Rogers of Spartanburg; twin daughters, Tomaryl D. Young of Spartanburg and Michelle R. Degraffinreid of Roebuck; a sister, Hattie M. Smith of Moore; a brother, Joe N. Cohen of Spartanburg; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Foster Chapel Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Douglas Dennis. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 3 p.m.

Ruby "Nanny" Davis O'Dell, 91, of 133 Wayland St. died Aug. 20, 1999, at her home.
A native of Laurens County, she was daughter of the late John Henry and Abby Ellison Davis. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church of Moore and was a retired seamstress with Wamsutta. She was a House Mother at Connie Maxwell Home in Greenwood and also worked as a Nanny in the Spartanburg area for a number of years. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include two daughters, Gloria O. Lewis of Spartanburg and Barbara O. Fincher of Moore; several nieces and nephews; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Eggers Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. Harley G. Babb Sr., Mr. Bud Brooks and the Rev. Richard Hall. Burial will be in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Elwillie Rosalind Gregory, 59, of 495 Neville St. died Aug. 20, 1999, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Spartanburg County, she was daughter of the late Johnson Gregory and Minnie Macumpson Gregory. She was a former employee of Vocational Rehabilitation Center, where she was a supervisor. She was a member of Harrison Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Makalia Gregory Fuller of the home; a sister, Minnie Lee Wheeler of Spartanburg; two grandchildren reared in the home, Monitra K. Gregory of San Antonio, Texas, and Daniel L. Gregory of the home.

Melba J. Wheeler
MILL SPRING, N.C. -- Melba Jean Crisco Wheeler, 49, of 675 Highway 108 E. died Aug. 20, 1999, as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident.
A native of Cabarrus County, N.C., she was daughter of Everett and Ruby Rollins Crisco of Kannapolis, N.C. She was an honor graduate of A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis, N.C., and was a graduate of Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C., where she received a Masters Degree. She received a Master of Administration degree from the University of South Carolina Spartanburg. She was Curriculum Coordinator for Spartanburg County District 1 schools and had also been an assistant principal and teacher at Chapman High School in Inman. She was Missions Coordinator for Polk Baptist Association and was a member of Pea Ridge Baptist Church in Mill Spring, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and Mission Director for WMU. She was a former member of Kannapolis Church of God in Kannapolis.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny Wheeler of the home; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 tonight at McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, N.C.

Janice K. Hill
BELTSVILLE, Md. -- Janice Kirby Hill, 62, of 13105 Ivy Drive died Aug. 10, 1999, at her home after a lengthy illness.
A native of Pacolet, she was daughter of Opal Pearson Kirby of Pacolet and the late William Leo Kirby. She was a graduate of Lander College in Clinton with a degree in Home Economics and received a Master's Degree in education from Bowie State College. She had been a resident of the Washington, D.C., area since 1961. She had a 31-year career in Prince George's County, retiring in 1992 after about four years as coordinator of the Math and Science programs at Concord Elementary School in Laurel, Md. In the 1980s, she was a resource teacher at Adelphi Elementary School and had earlier taught at Templeton Elementary School in Riverside, Deerfield Run Elementary and Bond Mill Elementary Schools in Laurel, Md. For the past six years, she worked as quality control inspector and an inspector trainer for Elliott Affiliates Ltd., a performance-based management consulting company in Baltimore. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior in Silver Spring and Alpha Chi.
Survivors include her husband, John Irvan Hill of Beltsville, Md.; a son, David Hill of Riverside, Calif.; a brother, W. Terry Kirby of Spartanburg; and a sister, Kitty Kirby of Spartanburg.
Memorial services were held Friday at the Episcopal Church of Our Savior in Silver Spring, Md.

MILL SPRING, N.C. -- James Clinton "Clint" Wheeler, 15, of 675 Highway 108 E. died Aug. 20, 1999, as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident.
A native of Spartanburg County, he was son of Johnny Wheeler of the home and the late Melba Jean Crisco Wheeler. He was a 10th-grade student at Chapman High School in Inman, where he played football. He was a member of Pea Ridge Baptist Church in Mill Spring, N.C., where he was an active member of the youth group.
Survivors include paternal grandmother, Vesta Lee Wheeler of Zionville, N.C.; maternal grandparents, Everett and Ruby Rollins Crisco of Kannapolis, N.C., and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 tonight at McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, N.C.

Regina B. Carroll
BLACKSBURG -- Regina Blanton Carroll, 66, of 208 W. Carolina St. died Aug. 20, 1999, at her home after a long battle with cancer.
A native of Cherokee County, she was daughter of the late Nazie B. and Rhea Byars Blanton. She was a member of Broad River Baptist Church and was a former textile worker. She was retired from Cherokee County School System.
Survivors include two sons, Larry W. Blanton and Grant A. Carroll of Blacksburg; a daughter, Gwen C. Spanos of Gaffney; three brothers, Claude Blanton and Tommy Blanton of Blacksburg and Sullivan "Bobo" Blanton of Tamassee; three sisters, Jewell B. Wilt of Johnstown, Pa., Dovie Lena Hartness of Denver, and Cherry B. Spencer of Blacksburg; and one grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at White Columns Funeral Home.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Broad River Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Alester McKinney, Howard Allen and Norman Philbeck. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to services. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

James D. Seay
James David Seay, 79, of Spring Arbor of Spartanburg, 104 Dillon Drive and formerly of Skyler Apartments died Aug. 21, 1999, in Mary Black Memorial Hospital.
A native of Cherokee County, he was son of the late Thomas B. and Clara Green Seay. He was of the Baptist faith and was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include a sister, Margaret Watson of Rutherfordton, N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Services will follow in the chapel at 11 a.m. Burial will be in White Rose Cemetery in Pacolet.

Thedore Alvin Barber, 46, of 911 Monks Grove Church Road died Oct. 8, 1999, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Columbia, he was son of David and Mary C. Barber of Columbia. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Blythewood, S.C.
Also surviving are his wife, Victoria Blackley Barber; two sons, Thedron Barber of the home and Thedore Alvin Barber, III of Phoenix City, Ala.; two stepsons, Curtis H. Blackley of Boiling Springs and Scottie L. Blackley of Spartanburg; two sisters, Emma B. Reynolds of Stone Mountain, Ga. and Mammie Lee Jacobs of Columbia; and one grandson.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Emily Noyes Beebe, 78, of Memphis died Oct. 5, 1999, in Primary Health Care Center.
A native of Memphis and formerly of Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Harwood and Mary Townsend Beebe. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and Tulane University. She was a retired supervisor of curriculum for the Memphis school system, former supervisor of education Harlem County, Ga. and a former teacher at Gramling Elementary School and Freemont Elementary School in Spartanburg County. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Cathedral and a member of the Tennessee Education Association, Memphis Education Association, Associates Supervisors and Curriculum Development, Junior League of Memphis and volunteer of the American Red Cross in Korea.
Surviving are two sisters, Mary Beebe Woodside of Memphis, and Esther Beebe Wyse of McLean, Va.; one brother, Dr. Harwood Beebe of Spartanburg; 11 nieces; 22 great-nieces; and two great-great-nieces.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Mary's Episcopal Cathedral, Memphis, Tenn.

Beatrice Smith Brannon, of 170 Pinehill Circle died Oct. 6, 1999, at White Oak Manor.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Essie Hemphill Smith. She retired from Spartanburg Regional Medical Center where she worked as a nursing assistant. She was a member of Holden's Chapel Baptist Church at Boiling Springs.
Surviving are her husband, Nathaniel Brannon; one daughter, Janie Mae Brannon of Spartanburg; two sisters, Lucinda Smith of Dayton, Ohio and Christine Smith of Cowpens; one brother, Mango "M.G." Smith of Dayton, Ohio; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Holden's Chapel Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Jackie O'Neal. Burial will be in Heritage Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.

Surviving are a son, Andrew Littlefield Jr. of Woodruff; three daughters, Elaine Littlefield of the home, Carol Harrison of Lexington, and Barbara Roach of Woodruff; one sister, Myrta Putnam of Lumberton, N.C.; one brother, Buford Thompson of Columbia, Miss.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A native of Cherokee County, he was the widower of Elizabeth Dillinger Mace, and the son of the late Joe Lonzo and Ellen C. Mace. He was retired from the textile industry. He was a Jehovah's Witness.
Surviving are six daughters, Joan Black of Silver Springs, Md., Sybil Shropshire of Chantilley, Va., Kathy Hudson of Florence and Barbara Ruppe, Janice Rochester and Linda Pennington, all of Gaffney; three sons, Jody and Billy Mace, both of Gaffney, and Johnny Mace of Greenville; and a sister, Louise Jones of Gaffney; 26 grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Mount Ararat Church Cemetery.

Minnie C. "Nolie" Hill, 60, of 257 Floyd St. died Oct. 9, 1999, at her home.
A native of Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Almarine and Maggie Price Humphries. She was retired from James C. Green Co., where she worked as a secretary.
Surviving are her husband, Willie Lee Hill; one son, Roger Lee Hill of Spartanburg; seven brothers, Summie, Thurman, Major, and Ishmael Humphries, all of Spartanburg, Jimmy Clayton Humphries of Jacksonville, Fla., Franklin Humphries of Cowpens, Johnny Hayward Humphries of Greenwood; and three sisters, Mazie Hill of Rutherfordton, N.C., Sally Faye Revis of Lyman, and Judy Wolfe of Spartanburg.

A native of Laurens County and formerly of Spartanburg, she was the wife of the late W.Z. Mills and the daughter of the late Thomas Perry and Lala Ethel Hand Holcombe. She was a supervisor of the circulation department at the Herald Journal in Spartanburg and a member of Saxon Baptist Church.
Surviving are three brothers, George Holcombe and Lindy Holcombe, both of Buffalo, and John Holcombe of Union.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Gerald Melton. The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the graveside.

A native of Abbeville, she was the widow of Robert Alexander Garner, Sr., and was the daughter of the late James and Bertha Hill Hill. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity, where she served in many different capacities.
Surviving are a son, R. Alex Garner, Jr. of Greensboro, Ga.; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity, conducted by Father Lennart Pearson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. to await the hour of service.

AIKEN -- William Lucas Hamrick, 79, of 550 East Gate Drive died Oct. 29, 1999, at Carriage Hills Plantation Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Lyman, he was the son of the late George Albert and Alma Lucas Hamrick. He was retired from VA Medical Center after 30 years of service, where he worked as a boiler/fireman. He was of the Lutheran faith, and served in the Army.
Surviving are two sons, Donnie Hamrick of North Augusta and Dennis Hamrick of Aiken; one brother, Richard Hamrick of Startex; one sister, Margaret Corne of Duncan; and three grandchildren.

INMAN -- Howard "Papa" Westbrook, 89, of 10 Blackstock Road died Oct. 29, 1999, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Inman, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Flora Nix Westbrook. He was a member of Inman Mills Baptist Church, and the Golden Age Sunday School Class, and was a member of the Inman Masonic Lodge #201. He had retired from Hayne Shops and was a residential plumber.
Surviving are his wife, Bernadine Scoggin Westbrook; two daughters, Azalee Shealy of Columbia, and Jane Mills of Panama City, Fla.; a God-son partially reared in the home, Bart Owens of Inman; one sister, Irene Moore of Huntsville, Ala.; one brother, Toy Westbrook of Glendale; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Seawright Funeral Home.
Cryptside services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Roselawn Mausoleum, conducted by Revs. Joe Sheetz and Thomas Smith.

A native of Greenville, he was a son of the late Arthema and Loree Ramsey Tucker, and was employed at Cryovac in Simpsonville.
Surviving are his wife, Donna Jean Tucker; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Tucker of the home; a step-daughter, Lucy Ann Simmons of New York; a step-son, Thomas Olin Pelton of New York; two sisters, Charlene T. Arrowood of Greenwood and Ann Tucker of Sanford, N.C.; three brothers, Eddie D. and Fred W. Tucker, both of Newberry, and Terry L. Tucker of Spartanburg; and two grandchildren.

ANDERSON -- Kathleen "Kitty" F. Dobbins, of Anderson, died Oct. 29, 1999, in Greenville Memorial Hospital, after an extended illness.
A native of Belton, S.C., she was the widow of William L. "Bill" Dobbins, and was the daughter of the late Samuel Lester and Eri Stroud Fullbright. She had worked in textiles and had been a kindergarten aide at Central Presbyterian Church for a number of years. She was a member of Pope Drive Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class.
Surviving are her daughter, Shirley Taylor of Greer; one sister, Virginia F. Sibley of Walhalla; a brother, Ray A. Fullbright of Anderson; and one grandson, Jeff Taylor of Greer.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. today at The McDougald Funeral Home.

EUTAWVILLE -- Charles Vedder Sadler, 89, of 101 Rain Lilly Lane, died Oct. 29, 1999, in Holly Hill, S.C.
A native of Pendleton, S.C., he was the son of the late Hardy and Ella Sitton Sadler. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a retired farmer. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, and a former Vestryman.
Surviving are his wife, Polly Sheck Sadler; two daughters, Annie Sadler of Greer, and Frances Sadler of Landrum; one sister, Amy S. Connor of Edisto Island; and one brother, Fred Sadler.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, at The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Eutawville, conducted by the Rev. John F. Scott. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pendleton Presbyterian Church Cemetery, in Pendleton, S.C.
The family will receive friends at the church after the funeral service.

DUNCAN -- Oren J. Dill, 78, of 612 Pine Ridge Road died Oct. 30, 1999.
A native of Union, he was the son of the late William and Corrie Bell Dill. He was retired from Pierce Motor Company and Conn Organ Company, and was a retired Master Sgt. of the Air Force after 23 years of service, including WWII. He was a member of Duncan United Methodist Church, Duncan Masonic Lodge No. 309, and Mid-City Shrine Club.
Surviving are his wife, Edna S. Dill; two daughters, Connie Bolin of Spartanburg and Susan Dill of Greer; three brothers, Calvin A. Dill of Spartanburg, Albert Dill and Emslie Dill, both of Union; and two sisters, Ruth West of Dothan, Ala. and Mary Ann Chalk of Myrtle Beach.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Stribling Funeral Home in Duncan.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Wood Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. David Ervin and Mr. M.J. Hendrix, and with full military rites.

Edgar Allen Caston, 46, of 902 Upper Valley Falls Road died Oct. 30, 1999, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Spartanburg County, he was the son of Edgar Caston and the late Betty Jean Greene Caston. He was a carpenter.

Robert Howard "Bob" Smith, 79, of 130 Nob Hill Road died Oct. 30, 1999, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of New Brookland, West Columbia, S. C., he was the son of the late James W. and Virginia Shealy Smith. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, and was retired from WSPA Radio after 27 years of service, where he worked as an Account Executive. He served as a Sergeant in the Army-726th Amphibian Tractor Battalion, Pacific Theater, and was a veteran of WWII. He was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Louise White Smith; one son, Bobby "Bo" Smith, of the home; one daughter, Marsha Painter of Spartanburg; one sister, Virginia Bradford of Asheville, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Neil M. Yongue.
The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the church.

Surviving are a daughter, Janie O. Toney of Gaffney; four sons, William, Robert, and David Osment, all of Gaffney, and Gary Osment of Woodruff; two brothers, Albert and Frank Osment, both of Gaffney; one sister, Olla Millwood of Gaffney; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
