BLACKSBURG -- Roy Finney Martin, 78, of 274 Doolittle St. died Dec. 6, 2000, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Cherokee County, he was the husband of Betty Broome Martin and son of the late Joseph Frank and Mamie Pennington Martin. He was retired from Wendell Fabrics and was a World War II U.S. Marines veteran where he served in Guam and Okinawa.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, the Rev. Gregg and Terry Martin, both of Blacksburg; two brothers, Charlie Martin of Gaffney and Palmer Martin of Blacksburg; one sister, Macy Revis of Gaffney; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 tonight at White Columns Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Missionary Fellowship Church, conducted by the Revs. Willie Lanier and Lucky Earls. Burial will follow in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

Horace Wilson
WOODRUFF -- Horace Edward Wilson, 70, formerly of 6290 Highway 101 North died Dec. 4, 2000, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Asheville, N.C.
A native of Greenwood County, he was the son of the late James F.C. Wilson and Ruth Sullivan Wilson Ross. He was a retired packer with C.F. Sauer Company and was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Wilson of Anderson and Marvin Avery Wilson of Greenville; one brother, James F. Wilson of Woodruff; two sisters, Dell Alkema of Chula Vista, Calif., and Mary Wilson of Woodruff; and four grandchildren.
The family received friends from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lanford Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel, conducted by Dr. Melvin Aiken and the Rev. Larry Wilson. Entombment was in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

WOODRUFF -- Gladys Foster, 88, of 526 Woodruff St. died Dec. 4, 2000, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
She was the widow of Samuel Young and was a member of New Bethel Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Willie Mae Woodruff of Spartanburg; three granddaughters raised in the home, Gladys Thompson, Mary Jane Glenn and Shirley McKinney, all of Woodruff; and one great-great-grandson raised in the home, Rick Glenn of Woodruff.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at New Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Joe Stevens. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A native of Greenville County, she was the widow of Weldon Odell Holcombe and daughter of the late Tandy Watts and Nora Caroline Couch Brown. She was a member of West Greenville Baptist Church and was retired from Lyman Printing and Finishing.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. C.W. Jones.

A native of Gaffney, he was the husband of Traci Richards Rogers and son of Harvey Rogers of Gaffney and Debbie Hall of Belton. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church and was a Freightliner employee. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors in addition to his wife and parents include two daughters, Lauren Brooke and Caitlyn Elayne Rogers, both of the home; one brother, Benjamin Jarrett Rogers of Gaffney; three sisters, Heather, Haley and Rebecca Rogers, all of Gaffney; stepmother, Diane Rogers of Gaffney; stepfather, Mike Hall of Belton; and grandfather, James Herbert Sarratt of Gaffney.

Willie James Crawford, 52, of 265 Caulder Ave. died March 27, 2001, at his home after a lengthy illness.
A native of Spartanburg County, he was the son of Dorothy Crawford of the home. A veteran, he attended schools in New York and attended Elizabeth Seton College in New York.
Survivors include a daughter, Dr. Tammy Anderson of Detroit; and two sisters, Jacqueline Green of South Boston, Va., and Tanya Gadsden of Wyandanch, N.Y.

BOILING SPRINGS -- Stanley O. Compton, 82, of 1198 Mitchell Lane died March 27, 2001, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.
A native of Spartanburg County, he was the husband of Mary Catherine Fowler Compton and a son of the late Robert Judson and Minnie Painter Compton. He was retired from the Army, having served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Arkwright Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Celia Compton ulmer of Greenville; a son, Stephen O. Compton of Boiling Springs; a brother, Charles Quinton Compton of Boiling Springs; and two grandchildren.

Katharine D. Bell, 83, of 400 Webber Road died March 28, 2001, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.
A native of Sardis, Ga., she was the daughter of the late William Daniel Bell Sr. and Berdie Brinson Bell. A graduate of Bessie Tift College, she was a retired schoolteacher having taught for 34 years. She was a member of the South Carolina Education Association and Sardis Baptist Church in Sardis.
Survivors include a sister, Bessie Mae Bell of Spartanburg; four nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be held in Sardis, under the direction of Deloach Funeral Home of Waynesboro, Ga.

A native of Spartanburg County, she was the wife of Johnny "Booker" Fuller and the daughter of the late John Meadows and Thelma Lyles Meadows. She was a member of Free and Independent Holiness Church of Roosevelt, N.Y. She was a member of the usher board, the fund-raising committee and a volunteer with the Word of Life Ministry in Freeport, N.Y. She was employed by the Frazon Co. of New York.
Survivors include Marie McDavis of Hampstead, N.Y., Rosa Lee Fuller of Baldwing, N.Y., and Kathy Fuller of the home; one son, Timothy Fuller of Minnesota; two sisters, Maggie Parsley of Roosevelt, N.Y., and Yvonne Floyd of Spartanburg; one brother, John Meadows of Spartanburg; and 17 grandchildren.

He was the widower of Rosa Lee Fullerwinder and a son of the late Lightning Fullerwinder and Mattie Snoddy Fullerwinder. He was a member of New Covenant Family Worship Church, a member of the board of deacons, Ebenezer Baptist Church and St. John Lodge 175. He was a truck driver.
Survivors include one son, John A. Fullerwinder of Danville, Va.; four sisters, Lillie Fullerwinder and Lathan Golightly of Inman, and Maggie Miller and Emma McKinney of Spartanburg; one brother, Broadus Fullerwinder of Spartanburg; and 2 grandchildren.

Toy Jenness Westbrook, 84, of Augusta, formerly of Bruce Avenue in Spartanburg, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2001, at Windemere Nursing Home, after an extended illness.
Born in Inman, SC on Monday, September 4, 1916, he was the son of the late Benjaman and Flora Nix Westbrook. He retired from sales at Hammond-Brown-Jennings and Burwell Chevrolet, and was later self-employed.
He was the widower of Constance "Connie" Fortune Westbrook.
He was a member of Ben Avon Baptist Church, where he had been a member since April, 1946. He served in WW II in the U. S. Navy.
He is survived by two granddaughters, Donna Palmer and Sharon Bargeron, both of Augusta, GA; two sons, Wayne Westbrook, of Forest City, NC; and Anthony Westbrook, of Augusta, GA; and a sister, Irene Moore, of Huntsville, Alabama; and six great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at Inman Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, with Rev. George Vorhease officiating.
The body will lie in state at Seawright Funeral Home, Thursday, March 29, 2001, from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Born in Spartanburg, November 20, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Eugene and Rebe Selleck Langford Tinsley. She graduated from St. Mary's in Raleigh, NC, and Randolph- Macon Woman's College, Lynchburg, VA, Class of 1945. She was a member of the Fourth Presbyterian Church, The Assembly, The Junior League of Greenville, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Daughters of the American Colonists, Piedmont Chapter. Surviving are four daughters, Rebekah (Diddy) F. Hughes (Mrs. Rolfe E., III), and Laura- Ann F. Ellison (Mrs. W. Travis) of Greenville, Susan Lee Forrester Street of Bellevue, Washington, Josephine F. Laney(Mrs. Edward W.) of Columbia; a son, Lindsay J. Forrester, III of Simpsonville; and nine grandchildren, Rebekah H. Unger, Rolfe E. Hughes, IV, Tinsley Ann Ellison, Lindsay Beth Ellison, William T. Ellison, Jr., Forrester B. Ellison, Arthur D, Ellison, Michael F. Street, and Jane Hannahan. Her husband, Lindsay Johnson Forrester, Jr., brother, James Jones Tinsley, and sister, Anne Lancaster Tinsley Birchall, predeceased her. Memorial services will be held Friday at 3pm, at Fourth Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Allen C. McSween officiating. ENOREE, SC - Fannie Lou Cox Fleming, 94, wife of the late R. Hall Fleming, of 15717 Hwy. 221, Enoree, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at Skylyn Health Center.
A native of Woodruff, she was the daughter of the late J. Boyd and Leona Willis Cox.
A retired teacher with District Four Schools, she was a member of Enoree First Baptist Church, where she served as a former Sunday School Teacher.
She received the Woodruff Sertoma Citizen of the Year Award.
She was a member of the Woodruff Art and Garden Club, DAR-Daughters of the American Revolution, and she was the former co-owner of the Fleming Funeral Home in Enoree. She was a graduate of Winthrop College.
Mrs. Fleming is survived by two nieces, Betty C. Patterson of Woodruff, Frankie C. Mason of Woodruff; a nephew, William Kyle Cox, Jr., of Isle of Palms, Charleston; a sister-in-law, Roberta Kilgore Cox of Woodruff.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2001, at the Ora Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, conducted by Rev. John Huckaby.

He is survived by three daughters, Judy Chapman of Inman, SC, Janice Horne of Spartanburg, SC and Glenda Noronha of Cowpens, SC; one brother, Billy McEntyre of Columbus, NC; and two sisters, Autense Johnson of Asheville, NC and Corrine Hughes of Columbus, NC. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Dana Bridges, Mark Horne and Darrell Horne.
