Jack Farmer
KERSHAW - Mr. Jack E. Farmer, 71, of 117 Shop Road died Tuesday, May 25, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Shamrock Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kevin Hinton officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will be at the Kershaw City Cemetery.
A native of Kershaw, Mr. Farmer was a son of the late Minor Presley Farmer and Ada Mae Holden Farmer. He was a member of Shamrock Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, chairman of the board of deacons for five years, Sunday school superintendent for 10 years and taught the junior Sunday school class. He also was an Royal Ambassador leader and coached the Little League Baseball team for 33 years. He was a Mason and member of the Abney Masonic Lodge No. 211. He was a member of Kershaw Senior Citizens.
Surviving are his wife, Rebecca Coates Farmer; two brothers, Howard L. Farmer of Lancaster and W. Jerry Farmer of Kershaw; and two sisters, Dorothy Jean Hinson of Lugoff and Ruth E. Anderson of Lancaster.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at home.

Ira Hance Sr.
HEATH SPRINGS - Mr. Ira Boyd Hance Sr., 78, of 3528 Kershaw-Camden Highway died Tuesday, May 25, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with the Revs. John Mullis and Leroy Adams officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
A native of Lancaster, Mr. Hance was a son of the late William George Hance and Beulah Hinson Hance. He worked for the Bank of Lancaster for 36 years and retired from S.C. National Bank. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and church treasurer for 20 years. An Army Air Corps veteran, Mr. Hance received a Purple Heart and was a member of the Stafford Graham American Legion Post No. 31. He was a member of the Red Rose Ramblers and the Gold Agers of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Adams Hance; two sons, Ira Boyd "Tank" Hance Jr. of Heath Springs and James Timothy "Tim" Hance of Columbia; his daughter, Barbara Ellis of Lancaster; three brothers, J.T. Hance and Carl Hance, both of Columbia, and Max Hance of Mooresville, N.C.; his sister, Bernice Melton of Lancaster; eight grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

Charles Haynes
WEST UNION - Mr. Charles Stanley Haynes, 56, of 131 Allmon Lane died Monday, May 24, 1999, at Oconee Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Davenport Funeral Home. Burial will be at Heritage Memorial Gardens.
A native of Spruce Pine, N.C., Mr. Haynes was a son of the late James Reid Haynes and Wanda Marie Wise Haynes. He was a retired employee of Duke Power Co. and was a member of Welcome Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are his wife, Marcene Flow Haynes; three sons, Perry Taylor of Rock Hill, Keith Haynes of Walhalla and Kenneth Haynes of West Union; four daughters, Priscilla Gardiner of Chester, Melissa Newell of York, Robin Taylor of Toccoa, Ga., and Betty Goins of West Union; his brother, James Haynes of Alpharetta, Ga.; his sister, Sharon Vel-Fakir of Charlotte; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Carole Heiney
LAKE WATEREE - Mrs. Carole Dannenhower Heiney, 61, died Tuesday, May 25, 1999.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Chapel at Lake Wateree. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Allentown, Pa., Mrs. Heiney was a daughter of the late Ira Dannenhower and Winifred B. Dougherty Dannenhower. She was employed by General Electric in Allentown for 18 years. She was a member of the Chapel at Lake Wateree, where she was active in Sunday school and the Women's Group. She was a member of the Wateree Home Owners Association and served as chairwoman of the environmental committee and assistant representative of Area No. 1.
Surviving are her husband, Edwin F. Heiney; her daughter, Linda Wilburn of Chester; her brother, Ronald G. Dannenhower of Breinigsville, Pa.; two sisters, Marilyn Bair of Slatington, Pa., and Darlene Ehrlacher of Northampton, Pa.; two grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel.

Mary Johnson
DURHAM, N.C. - Mrs. Mary Sitgraves Johnson, formerly of 552 Oates St., Rock Hill, died Sunday, May 23, 1999, at the Brian Center.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Flint Hill Baptist Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Walter B. White officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery in Rock Hill.
A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Johnson was a daughter of the late Labon Sitgraves and Lillie Jordan Sitgraves. She joined Liberty Hill Baptist Church at an early age. She was educated in the Rock Hill schools and taught at Friendship Junior College. She later taught at a correctional center in Baltimore. She was the widow of Adolphus Chinn and Paul Johnson.
Surviving are her brother, Thomas Sitgraves of Rock Hill; and three sisters, Lucy S. Clemons of Rock Hill, Rita S. Foote of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Helen S. Lathan of Durham.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. today at Flint Hill Baptist Church.

Jackie Jordan
ROCK HILL - Mr. Jackie "Mudrat" Jordan, 42, of 971 Helms St. died Tuesday, May 25, 1999.
The graveside service will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Forest Hills Cemetery, with the Rev. Princeton Terry officiating.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Jordan is a son of William Jordan of Rock Hill and the late Doris F. Jordan. He was a heavy equipment operator and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 416, the Rock Hill York Rite Bodies, the Hejaz Shrine Temple, Daddy Advisor of the Myron Sandifer Chapter of the DeMolay and blood drive chairman of the Crescent Shrine Club.
Surviving in addition to his father are his wife, Elizabeth Jordan; his son, Jackie Allen Jordan II of the home; two daughters, Emily Jordan and Haley Jordan, both of the home; his stepmother, Annie Jordan of Rock Hill; two brothers, Dennis Jordan and Billy Jordan, both of Rock Hill; two sisters, Cindy Sovde of Rockingham, N.C., and Michelle Williams of Rock Hill; three stepsisters, Martha Hood, Lynn Hartness and Donna Hinson, all of Rock Hill.
The Masonic memorial service by the Corinthian Lodge 416 will be 7 tonight at Greene Funeral Home after which the family will receive friends.

GREENWOOD - Mrs. Doris Adams Koth, 82, of 1110 Marshall Road died Monday, May 24, 1999, at Self Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Blyth Funeral Home, with the Revs. Dave Patterson and Richard McWhite officiating.
A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Koth was a daughter of the late O.C. Adams and Alice Shute Adams. She owned and operated The Sea Squires Motel at Surfside Beach. She was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Walter H. Koth; her daughter, Gwen Koth of Miami, Fla.; two sisters, Elba Beckham of Rock Hill and Vada Reeves of Darlington.
The family will receive friends at home and at the Blyth Funeral Home immediately after the service.

Eula White
RICHBURG - Mrs. Eula White, 87, of 4614 Lancaster Highway died Sunday, May 23, 1999, at her home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Ararat AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Leroy Ellison officiating and Minister Tony White assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Mrs. White was a member of Mount Ararat AME Zion Church, where she was head of the deaconess, a missionary and member of the Ministry of Kindness Board. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars and a former cafeteria worker with the Chester County Schools.
Surviving are five stepdaughters, Brenda White of Columbus, Ohio, Mary Stratford and Beatrice House, both of Rock Hill, Helen Williams of Fort Lawn and Thelma Hayes of Richburg; two stepsons, Arthur White and Eddie R. White, both of Richburg; 33 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and her caretakers, Mary Chesley and Minister Thomas Chesley, both of the home.

Mary Burns
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mary E. "Nute" Burns of 133 Walcott Court died Tuesday, May 25, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at Greater Foundation AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Daran Mitchell officiating and the Revs. Leroy Ellison and Charles Reid assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Mrs. Burns was a native of York County. She was a cook at the Best Western restaurant. She was a member of Great Foundation AME Zion Church. She attended Emmett Scott High School.
Surviving are her husband, John E. Burns; two daughters, Luticia McKnight of Charlotte and Mary Roseboro of Tulsa, Okla.; her stepdaughter, Ruby Rodgers of Newark, N.J.; her stepson, Terrell Franklin of Washington; her stepmother, Ruth Page of Rock Hill; six sisters, Ruby L. Stukes of Bronx, N.Y., Jannette Brown of Manhattan, N.Y., Inez Page, Brenda Page Knox, Everleen Page and Janice Page Ingram, all of Rock Hill; two brothers, Willie T. "June" Page and Kenneth T. Page, both of Rock Hill; three grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.
The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Robinson Funeral Home, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Robinson.
The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Monday.
James Duncan
YORK - Mr. James "Jimmy" Lee Roy Duncan, 75, of 1953 Highway 321 N. died Wednesday, May 26, 1999, at home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Filbert Presbyterian Church in America, with the Rev. Wallace Tinsley officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.
A native of Abilene, Texas, Mr. Duncan was a son of the late James Wesley Duncan and Alice Young Duncan. He was a superintendent at Millwright and was formerly employed by Daniels Construction. He served in the U.S. Army's 9th Division during World War II and received the Purple Heart and European Theater Ribbon.
Surviving are his wife, Wilma Bigger Duncan; two sons, Kevin J. Duncan of Charlotte and Steven L. Duncan of Marshville, N.C.; his daughter, Teresa "Terry" Diane Duncan of Newport; and four brothers, Grady Duncan and Silas Duncan, both of Abilene, Roland Duncan of Sealey, Texas, and Truman Duncan of Ozona, Texas.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Herman Baxter Hood, 92, of 4636 Pennington Road died Thursday, May 27, 1999, at Beverly Health Care Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Tirzah ARP Church, with the Rev. Jan Senneker officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Matthews Historical Cemetery in Matthews, N.C.
A native of Matthews, Mr. Hood was the widower of Martha Lynn Millen Hood. He was an elder of Tirzah ARP Church. He was a former member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Matthews. He was a farmer and rural mail carrier.
Surviving are his son, Jimmy Hood of Matthews, N.C.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Alma Mahon
GREENVILLE - Mrs. Alma W. Mahon, 71, of Greenville died Wednesday, May 26, 1999.
The graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Graceland Cemetery, West.
A native of Greenville, Mrs. Mahon was the widow of Sgt. Heyward J. Mahon. She worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart on Woodruff Road and was a member of Second Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Sandra M. Oliver of Greenville, Deborah M. Byers of York and Yvonne M. Spahr of Memphis, Tenn.; two sons, James Ronald Mahon and H. Frank Mahon, both of Greenville; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

FORT MILL - Mrs. Elizabeth Butler Holcomb Martin, 75, of Fort Mill died Wednesday, May 26, 1999, at Mercy Hospital South in Pineville, N.C.

A native of Avondale, N.C., Mrs. Martin was a daughter of the late Oliver Spain Butler and Mary Clone Wilkerson Butler.
In 1940, she graduated as salutatorian of her class at Tri High School in Rutherford County, N.C. She was a retired cloth inspector from Springs Industries, having served more than 25 years.
Katharine Reynolds
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Katharine Crockett Cole Reynolds of 1330 India Hook Road died Wednesday, May 26, 1999.
The graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Zion Cemetery in Lowrys.
A native of McDowell County, W. Va., Mrs. Reynolds was educated at the Columbus School for Girls in Columbus, Ohio and Mount DeSales School in Catonville, Md. She graduated from Mary Baldwin College in Stanton, Va.
She was the widow of John "Frydy" Cole and Thomas Henry Reynolds. She was a member of Purity Presbyterian Church in Chester and an affiliate member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill. An educator, she served as teacher and administrator in the Chester County School District. She taught at the Catawba Academy in Rock Hill and retired in 1978. She was a past member of the American Association of University Women, Delta Kappa Gamma, League of Women Voters and the Friday Study Club in Chester. She also taught Sunday school and was active in the Women of the Church.
Surviving are her son, John Fry Cole of Fort Pierce, Fla.; three daughters, Nina Kay Cole Taylor of Martin County, Fla., Becky Cole Elam of Dallas; and Dawna Cole Sapp of Rock Hill; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Westminster Towers in Rock Hill.

ENOREE - Albert A. Simpson, 79, of 5 Wilson St. died Thursday, May 27, 1999.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at West End Baptist Church, with the Revs. Carol Caldwell and Michael Sheehan officiating, along with Mr. Jack Owens. Burial will follow at Cedar Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery.
A native of Enoree, Mr. Simpson was the son of the late John M. and Gazzie Waddle Simpson. He was the widow of Mamie Waddle Simpson. He was a retired weaver, a member of Enoree First Baptist Church, an U.S. Army veteran of World War II, in which he won a purple heart and several other awards.
Surviving are two daughters, Clora Young of Greenville and Sybil Salisburg of Spartanburg; a brother, Earl Simpson of Fort Mill; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and his step-great-grandson.

Laura Smith
LOCUST, N.C. - Mrs. Laura Eudy Smith, 84, of 17289 Pond Road died Thursday, May 27, 1999, at home.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at the Red Cross Baptist Church, with the Revs. Gary Baker and Sherrill Dunn officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Stanley County, N.C., Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late Dolphus S. Eudy and Ada Herrin Eudy. She was the widow of Coy James Smith. She was a retired custodian and worked at Northwest Cabarrus High School. She was a member of Red Cross Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Gary J. Smith of Locust and Graylon Smith of Rock Hill; three sisters, Mrs. James Efird and Bertha Kiser, both of Locust, and Geneva Barbee of Concord, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
The body will be taken to the church at 2 p.m. Sunday.
The family will be at the home of her son, Gary Smith 17243 Pond Road, Locust.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Richard Harrison Thomas, 71, of 1641 Madison St. died Tuesday, May 25, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. George Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.
A native of York County, Mr. Thomas was a son of the late James Harrison Thomas and Sarah Jane Gaultney Thomas. Mr. Thomas was retired from General Tire. He worked part time as security guard for Uniguard Security Services at Rock Hill Telephone Co. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Mr. Thomas was Junior Grand Deacon of the State of South Carolina in 1994, the Royal Arch Mason of the Bratton Chapter, Select Master of Campbell Council No. 18, a Knight Templar, Knight of the York Cross of Honor, High Priesthood of the Royal Arch Masons and South Carolina Council No. 20, Knight Masons.
He was R.I. District Deputy Grand Master of the Fourth District of South Carolina in 1977, district representative of the Fourth District Grand Commandery of South Carolina in 1982, High Priest of the Bratton Chapter No. 32 in 1975, Illustrious Master, Campbell Council No. 18 in 1974, commander of the Rock Hill Commandery No. 15 in 1981, president of York County Shrine Club in 1975, tiler of Rock Hill Lodge No. 111 and chief aide of Hejaz Temple in 1978. He also was a member of the Eastern Star Catawba Chapter No. 131. He was a Navy Sea-Bee World War II veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Williams Thomas; his son, Richard Dean Thomas of Winston-Salem, N.C.; his daughter, Rachel Thomas Cook of Rock Hill; his sister, Nina Bell of Aiken; and three grandchildren.

Lilla Foster
MCCONNELLS - Mrs. Lilla Amelia Demay Foster, 94, of 1330 India Hook Road, died Sunday, May 30, 1999, at Westminster Health Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at the Olivet Presbyterian Church cemetery with Dr. William A. Fox Jr. and the Rev. Chip McArthur officiating.
A native of Shelton, Conn., Mrs. Foster was the daughter of the late Rolla L. DeMay and Ida Quinlan DeMay. She was a retired postmaster in McConnells and was active in the Postmaster
Association. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and former member of Olivet Presbyterian Church. She was one of the first charter residents of Westminster Towers in Rock Hill.
Mrs. Foster was the widow of Robert L. Foster. Surviving are two granddaughters, Bonnie Weaver of Wilmington and Susan White of Charlotte; and five great-grandchildren.

Alice Holladay
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Mrs. Alice Wilkes Holladay, 94, formerly of Chester County, died Sunday, May 30, 1999, at the Forsyth Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. John Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the Red Hill Baptist Church in Leeds.
A native of Chester, Mrs. Holladay had resided in Winston-Salem since 1932. She was a member of the First Calvary Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board. She was a cook for many years at Gregory's Lunch and a member of the Kimberly Park
Community Club. She was a member of the Daughters of Isis, Elizabeth Chapter No. 310, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was the widow of Everette P. Holladay.
Surviving are her nephew, Raymond Wilkes of Pinebush, N.Y.; her niece, Carol Chisolm of Tinto Falls, N.J.; and her great-niece, Marcia Chisolm of Tinto Falls.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Calvary Baptist Church.

FORT MILL - Mrs. Mary Wilson Lane, 90, of Fort Mill, died Sunday, May 30, 1999, at Magnolia Manor in Rock Hill.
A graveside funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Unity Cemetery.
A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Lane was the daughter of the late Sylvester Wilson and Mattie Guess Wilson. She was retired from Springs Industries, where she worked in the spinning room.
She was the widow of David Oscar Lane and a member of Sisk Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Vernell Smith of Rock Hill and Louise Arnold of Fort Mill; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Marvin Myers
CLOVER - Mr. Marvin L. Myers, 60, died Sunday, May 30, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Oakey's North Chapel in Roanoke, Va., with the Rev. Robert L. Boggs officiating.
Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, Va.
Formerly of Roanoke, Va., Mr. Myers served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of First Baptist Church in Clover. He was a computer technician with Wang Global.
Mr. Myers was the son of Esther Myers Robertson of Winston-Salem, N.C., and the late Marvin. S. Myers.
Surviving are his wife, Linda K. Myers of Clover; his son, Alan Myers of Winston-Salem; his daughter, Dana M. Brogan of Clover; three sisters, Helen Robertson of Illinois, Shirley Myers of Advance, N.C., and Louise Kite of Winston-Salem; and four grandchildren.

Emory Thomas
COLUMBIA - Mr. Emory Wade Thomas, 71, of Columbia, died Saturday, May 29, 1999.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Michaels and All Angels Episcopal Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
A native of Spartanburg, Mr. Thomas was a son of the late W.E. "Tom" Thomas and Ruth Stanford Thomas. He was a member of St. John's Methodist Church. He was an optician with American Optical in Spartanburg and retired from Dr. Michael Laughlin's practice in Rock Hill.
Mr. Thomas was a World War II veteran in the Medical Corp at Walter Reed and the widower of Helen Grainger Thomas.
Surviving are his daughter, Kaye Hagler Gaddis; and his grandson. The family will receive friends following the funeral service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

YORK - Mr. Howard Davis Thomas, 81, of 228 E. Jefferson St., died Saturday, May 29, 1999.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. today at Philadelphia United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lee Phillips officiating and the Rev. Gene Feagin and Dr. Bruce D. Garris assisting. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery
A native of Hickory Grove, Mr. Thomas was a son of the late Robert Horton Thomas and Bessie Annie Ashe Thomas. He was a retired finisher from Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Co., a retired farmer and a member of the Philanthropic Masonic Lodge No. 32.
He was a World War II veteran of the Navy, served on the USS Raymond, received a victory medal, a Presidential Unit Citation, the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with one star and an Asiatic Pacific Campaign metal with four stars.
Mr. Thomas was a member of the York County Cattleman's Association and the Young Farmer's Association. He was a member of the Philadelphia United Methodist Church.
Surviving is his wife, Ruth Dickson Thomas; two daughters, Anne Thomas Carr of Montgomery, Ala., and Jeanne Thomas Garris of Eutaw, Ala.; four brothers, Marshall Thomas of York, Raymond Thomas of Charlotte and Miller Thomas and Leroy Thomas, both of
Rock Hill; five sisters, Lucille T. White of Blacksburg, Ruby T. Blackwelder of Rock Hill, Margaret T. Bultman of Chester, Erma T. Rockholt of Vienua, Va., and Lillian T. Hullett of York; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

CHESTER - Mrs. Cora Raines Weir, 103, of 1213 Halsellville Road died Sunday, May 30, 1999, at home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Beaver Creek Baptist Church, with the Revs. Terry Wingate and Clyde Riley officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
An elementary and high school teacher and principal, Mrs. Weir was a member of the Beaver Creek Baptist Church, where she was active in Bible school and was an officer in the Baptist Women's Missionary Union. She was honored by the church for having taught Sunday school for more than 73 years. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and an officer of the Clemson Extension Home Demonstration Club. She was the widow of
Leslie Banks Weir.
Surviving are two daughters, Eloise Weir Blanks of Clemson and Lavinia Weir McDonald of Chester; two half-sisters, Anne Raines Fritts of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Josephine Raines Nichols of Abbeville; and three granddaughters.

Sunday, May 30, 1999, at home.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Richburg, with the Rev. Benjamin Murdock officiating.
A native of Carlisle, Pa., Mrs. Butts was a daughter of Roberta Johnson Young of Carlisle and the late James Young. Mrs. Butts was educated in the public schools of Carlisle and attended Thompson College in Harrisburg, Pa. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Carlisle and attended Mt. Morah AME Zion Church in Richburg. The owner and operator of Gift Etc. ofRichburg, she was a former insurance representative for Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Harrisburg and Columbia and for Nationwide Insurance Co. of Harrisburg. She was also a former insurance claims examiner at Lewisville Family Care Center and Chester Family Practice Center, a former employee of Chester County Hospital and substitute teacher for the Chester County school district. She was a member of the literacy council program of
Chester.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, James H. Butts of the home; two daughters, Karla Stroud of Chester and Andrea Brice of the home; two brothers, Jimmy Young of Saudi Arabia and Dennis Young of Brighton, Colo.; two sisters, Mary J. Murdock of Richburg and Donna M. Jones of Carlisle; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Mrs. Dora Hattie M. Caldwell, 58, of Brooklyn, N.Y., formerly of Rock Hill, died Saturday, May 29, 1999, in Brooklyn.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Newark, N.J. Burial will be at Fair Lawn Memorial Park in Newark.
A daughter of the late King Caldwell and Janie Marian Caldwell, Mrs. Caldwell was a native of Rock Hill.

A native of Shelton, Conn., Mrs. Foster was the daughter of the late Rolla L. DeMay and Ida Quinlan DeMay. She was a retired postmaster in McConnells and was active in the Postmaster
Association. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and former member of Olivet Presbyterian Church. She was one of the first charter residents of Westminster Towers in Rock Hill.
Mrs. Foster was the widow of Robert L. Foster.
Surviving are two granddaughters, Bonnie Weaver of Wilmington and Susan White of Charlotte; and five great-grandchildren.

BALTIMORE - Mr. Mark Alan Thompson, formerly of Chester, died Sunday, May 19, 1999, in Baltimore.
The funeral was Tuesday, May 25, 1999, in Baltimore.
Mr. Thompson went to elementary school in Baltimore and completed high school at Chester County High School.
Surviving are his son, Darrell Alan Thompson of Chester; his fiance, Danielle Harris of Baltimore; four stepdaughters, Autumn Harris, Ashley Harris, Adrienne Harris and Ariel Harris, all of Baltimore; his father, James Thompson of Baltimore; his mother, Patricia Williams of Baltimore; his stepfather, Dub Massey of Chester; his grandmother, El Thompson of Baltimore; three brothers, Jason, Leon and Chris; three sisters, Terita, Wanda and Nicole.
