John Derrick
WARE SHOALS - Mr. John William Derrick, 61, of 58 Smith St. died Saturday, May 29, 1999, at home.
The funeral was Monday at Ware Shoals United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Carol Peppers-Wray and the Rev. Herb Franklin officiating. Burial was at Gassaway United Methodist Church Cemetery in Saluda.
A native of Saluda County, Mr. Derrick was the son of the late Fred William Derrick and Edith Banks Derrick. Mr. Derrick was employed by L & L Environmental. He served 30 years in the Saluda National Guard and was a retired educator. He worked with the Ware Shoals District 51 for 30 years; part of that time he served as high school principal. He was a graduate of Newberry College and earned his master's degree from Clemson University. He was a member of Ware Shoals United Methodist Church, where he served in many capacities.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Williams Derrick; his son, Robert William Derrick of the home; two daughters, Dee Derrick of the home and Gena Derrick Clark of Monroe, N.C.; two
brothers, the Rev. Allen Derrick of Richburg and Doyle Derrick of Charleston; his sister, Annette Derrick of Saluda; and his granddaughter, Brianna Lyn Fields of the home.

George Giles
GREENVILLE - Mr. George Wesley Giles, 76, of 15 N. Brookwood Drive died Tuesday, June 1, 1999.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Second Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Rod Clay officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. Friday in Elmwood Cemetery in Columbia.
A native of Wellford, Mr. Giles was a son of the late Ira Alexis Giles and Lucile Muckenfuss Giles. He was the widower of Ann Lindfors Giles. He was a member and former deacon of Second Presbyterian Church. He retired as executive vice president of the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in Greenville after 40 years of service. He attended local schools and graduated from Greenville High School. He attended Furman University and the University of South Carolina, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He graduated in 1947 and later served on the USC Educational Foundation. He was a past member of the Greenville
Rotary Club, a charter member of the Greenville Touchtown, Greenville Basketball Club and Sales and Executive Club. He was a member and past president of the Greenville County Club where he served on numerous committees including chairman of the Greens Committee during the construction of Chanticleer Golf Course. An avid golfer, he won the Club Championship, Men's Championship twice and the Senior Division.
Surviving are two daughters, Dale Giles Earhardt of Columbia and Lynn Giles Young of Rock Hill; and six grandchildren.

FORT MILL - Mrs. Catherine Elizabeth Hayter of 2928 Misty Plum Court died Sunday, May 30, 1999, at home.
A graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Kechi Cemetery in Wichita, Kan. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Faith Bible Church in Fort Mill, with the Rev.
Sherwood Wilson officiating.
A Wichita native, Mrs. Hayter was a member of Faith Bible Church, where she was involved in many activities. She was an assistant buyer with Harris Department Store. She was the widow of Myron Hayter.
Surviving are two sons, Terry James Burns of Fairfax, Va., and David E. Burns of Sand Point, Iowa; her brother, Eugene Spangler of Wichita; her sister, Mary Gill of Overland, Kan.; her half sister, Evelyn Salchenberg of Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

LANCASTER - Mrs. Judy Yvonne Starnes Hinson, 49, of 1891 Sunny Lane died Wednesday, June 2, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Mahaffey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joel Rhyner officiating. Burial will be at Fort Hill Baptist Church cemetery.
A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Hinson was a daughter of Louise Sims Starnes of Heath Springs and the late Arthur Roy Starnes. She was an employee of Springs Industries and a member of
Eastside Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Jerry Beckham Hinson Sr.; two sons, Jerry B. Hinson Jr. and William A. "Art" Hinson, both of Lancaster; two brothers, Marvin Starnes and Claude Nelson Starnes, both of Lancaster; and three sisters, Nancy Carolyn Alford, Grace Faile, and Barbara Faile, all of Lancaster.

Earl Merritt Jr.
ROCK HILL - Mr. Earl Wesley Merritt Jr., 65, of 2845 Eden Terrace Extension died Wednesday, June 2, 1999, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Celriver Temple Baptist Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Jerry Allen officiating.
Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Merritt was a son of the late Earl and Gertrude Merritt. Mr. Merritt served as a deacon, taught Sunday school and Bible study at Celriver Temple Baptist Church, where he had perfect attendance for 18 years. He was a retired carpenter.
Surviving are his son, Wesley E. Merritt of North Myrtle Beach; two grandchildren; and his great-grandson.

LANCASTER - Mr. C.L. "Jake" Purser, 68, of 1109 Garnette Road died Tuesday, June 1, 1999, at Dorn Veterans Administration Center in Columbia.
The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe, N.C., with the Rev. Charles Broom officiating.
A native of Union County, N.C., Mr. Purser was a son of the late Zeno B. Purser and Sarah Rushing Purser. He was retired co-owner and operator of A&F Body Shop. He was a Korean War veteran and of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Billie Carnes Purser; his son, Bobby Purser of Lancaster; two daughters, Susan Dunegan of Waxhaw, N.C., and Pam Doster of Pageland; three brothers, J. Harold Purser, Zeno B. Purser Jr. and Jerry Purser, all of Monroe, N.C.; four sisters, Pauline Stevenson and Hazel Hilton, both of Monroe, Mildred Wall of Stanfield, N.C., and Billie Tarlton of Marshville; and six grandchildren.

Ray Revels Sr.
LUMBERTON, N.C. - Mr. Ray V. Revels Sr., 75, of Walnut Street died Tuesday, June 1, 1999, at Southeastern Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Sam Warner officiating. Burial will be at Meadowbrook Cemetery.
A native of Kershaw, Mr. Revels was a son of the late V.R. Revels and Sue W. Revels. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and participated in the Lacy McKenzie Bible Class. He was an Eagle Scout and scout leader. He served in the 95th Bomb Group during World War II. He was a Prisoner of War and was presented a Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and other
commendations. Mr. Revels was past leader of the local Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served on the Robeson County, N.C., Board of Elections. The Governor of North Carolina presented him with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine for
community service. He was a member of the Masons, Shriners and the Foundation Board of Robeson Community College.
Surviving are his wife, Anne McRackan Revels; his son, Ray V. Revels Jr. of Rock Hill; two daughters, Suzanne Revels Daniels of Lumberton and Lucia Revels Lindsey of Greenville; his sister, Kathryn Culp of Rock Hill; and five grandchildren.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Forest Eben Whisonant, 73, of 1712 Nicholson Ave. died Tuesday, June 1, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Patricia Griffith-Fallaw officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Whisonant was a son of Ruby Whelchel Whisonant Tucker of York and the late Earl Whisonant. He was of the Methodist faith and retired from Celanese Corp. after more than 30 years service. He served in the Navy during World War II.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Ellen Deas Whisonant; four sons, Charles Eben Whisonant of Newport Beach, Calif., William "Bill" Olin Whisonant of Lexington, Jimmy Earl Whisonant of Charlotte and James "Kevin" Whisonant of Rock Hill; two daughters, Melisa Ann W. Smith of York and Cathy Diana W. Pattison of Indian Land; two brothers, Eugene Whisonant of Rock Hill and Archie Whisonant of York; and six grandchildren.

ROCK HILL - Mr. James Alexander "Alex" Bennett, 82, of 1744 Old Friendship Road died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at White Oak Manor.
The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Bill Shytle officiating.
A native of Chester County, Mr. Bennett was a son of the late John J. Bennett and Sarah Dunn Bennett. He was retired from J. P. Stevens Arcade Plant and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Louise Little Bennett; three sons, Robert Bennett, James W. Bennett and Alvin Bennett, all of Rock Hill; his stepson, Terry Reynolds of Rock Hill; three daughters,
Rosa B. Lowery of Rock Hill, Mary B. White of Chester and Sarah B. Baucom of Charlotte; three stepdaughters, Judy Green of Rock Hill, Delores Bennett and Betty McCorkle, both of Chester; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.

Carrie Broome
LANCASTER - Mrs. Carrie Donahue Broome, 81, of 302 Wylie Park Road died Thursday, May 3, 1999, at Mercy South Hospital in Pineville, N.C.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Lancaster Church of God, with the Rev. Lacy Jones officiating. Burial will be at Long Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
A native of Chesterfield County, Mrs. Broome was a daughter of the late Jim Donahue and Pearl Jordan Donahue. She was the widow of Thomas Broome. A homemaker, Mrs. Broome was a member of Lancaster Church of God.
Surviving are three sons, Gary Broome and James Broome, both of Lancaster, and Jackie Broome of Lugoff; five daughters, Louise Hall of Bishopville, Margie Appleton and Frances Coffey, both of Pensacola, Fla., Judy Hammond and Sylvia Broome, both of Lancaster; 25 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Grace Enloe
YORK - Mrs. Grace Morton Enloe, 85, of White Oak Manor in York died Wednesday, June 2, 1999.
The body was donated to the Medical University of South Carolina. Private memorial services will be at a later date.
A native of Albemarle, N.C., Mrs. Enloe was a daughter of the late Alonzo Lafette Morton and Annie Baldwin Morton. She was the widow of George Wesley Enloe. Formerly of Charlotte, she was a member of Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church for 50 years.
She was named the first Miss Charlotte.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Smith of Clover and Kay Crump of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three grandsons; and three great-granddaughters.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer Association.
Donna Feather
FORT MILL - Mrs. Donna Marie Shellenburger Feather, 49, of 375 Sweetgum Lane died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at home.

A native of York, Pa., Mrs. Feather was a member of the Central Church of God in Charlotte.

Elijah Foster
ROCK HILL - Elijah Foster, 80, of 312 Hagins St. died Wednesday, June 2, 1999, at Tanglewood Health Care Center in Ridgeway.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Red Hill Baptist Church in Fairfield County, with the Rev. Frankie Ellis officiating.
Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Mr. Foster was a former textile worker and was a basket weaver. He was a member of Red Hill Baptist Church and was educated in the Fairfield County public schools. He was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are two sisters, Geneva Austin and Susie Sanders, both of Rock Hill; two nephews whom he reared, Joe Jackson and Israel Foster, both of Rock Hill; and four nieces whom he
reared, Vina Jones, Ruby Sanders, Ester McCollough and Virginia Sanders, all of Rock Hill.
The body may viewed from 1 to 6 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday at Parker Funeral Home.
The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mary Beatrice "Sis" Gaither Heath of 1108 Dorchester St. died Wednesday, June 2, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Weeping Mary Baptist Church in White Oak, with the Rev. J.G. Jones officiating and the Revs. B.R. Wilson, George Lowry and James Knapper assisting.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A native of White Oak, Mrs. Heath was a daughter of the late James Gaither Sr. and Mary Bell Richmond Gaither. Mrs. Heath was a graduate of Fairfield High School. She was employed at the Rock Hill Christian Academy, where she was a cook. She was a member of Weeping Mary Baptist Church, where she served on the Hymn Choir, the Junior Choir, the Usher Board, the Pastor's Aid Society and Humble Daughters and Sons of Zion Society.
Surviving are her husband, Faye Allen Heath Sr. of Winnsboro; two daughters, Rosa Diane Burris and Angela Heath McFadyen, both of Rock Hill; four sons, Phillip Eugene Heath of McConnells, Faye Allen Heath Jr., Reginald Vincent Heath and Antonio Smilarr Heath, all of Rock Hill; two grandchildren whom she reared, Darren D. Heath and Roberta LaToya Hoyles, both of Rock Hill; seven brothers, James Gaither Jr., Isaiah Gaither, Charles Gaither and John Gaither, all of Rock Hill, George A. Gaither of Winnsboro, Lindsey Gaither Sr. of Atlanta, and Joseph Michael Gaither of Charlotte; six sisters, Ulyless Gaither Roach, Rosa Gaither Peele, Beverly D. GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - Mr. Homer Lee Henderson, 59, of Richburg and Greeneville, Tenn., died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at home.
The graveside service will be noon Sunday at Greenelawn Cemetery. A native of Madison County, Mr. Henderson was a son of the late Amos John Henderson and Virgie Gosnell Henderson.
Surviving are his wife, June Franklin Henderson; his son, Kenneth Henderson of Rock Hill; his daughter, Nancy Smith of York; his stepson, Jeff Leake of Greeneville, Tenn.; his
stepdaughter, Liz Johnson of Afton, Tenn.; three brothers, Wayne Henderson of Edgemoor, Claude Landers and Glenn Landers, both of Marshall, N.C.; two sisters, Dorothy Hensley of Saluda and Creola Raliegh of Mercersberg, Pa.; his granddaughter; and three stepgrandchildren.

EDGEMOOR - Mrs. Anna Christine Richardson Hicklin, 86, of Edgemoor died Friday, June 4, 1999, at Central Carolina Rehab in Lancaster.
The graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Edgemoor ARP Church cemetery, with the Rev. Allen Derrick officiating.
A native of McIntosh, Fla., Mrs. Hicklin was a daughter of the late James Purdie Richardson and Edena Hicklin Richardson. Her stepmother was Ethel Bowen Richardson. She was the widow of John Wylie Hicklin Sr. She was a graduate of Miami High School and attended Florida State University. She was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of Edgemoor ARP Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and former president of the Women of the Church.
Surviving are three sons, John Wylie Hicklin Jr. and James Frank Hicklin Sr., both of Edgemoor, and Christopher Marion Hicklin of Rock Hill; two daughters, Edena Marie Hicklin Sanders of Richburg and Roseann Ezzelle Hicklin of Edgemoor; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Thomas Hoffman
FORT MILL - Mr. Thomas Gene Hoffman, 41, of Fort Mill died Friday, June 4, 1999.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Glen Rock Baptist Church, with the Rev. Whitener officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.
Mr. Hoffman was a native of Enid, Okla., and was an avid animal lover and fisherman.
Surviving are his son, Brandon Hoffman; his daughter, Savannah Moore; his parents, Bill and Nancy Hoffman of Pineville, N.C.; and three sisters, Connie Millett of Monroe, N.C., Nelda Broom or Marvin, N.C. and Janet Dyer of Fort Mill.

SPARTANBURG - Miss Bettye Mae Jackson, 57, of 1150 Webber Way died Friday, June 4, 1999, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Clyde Raymond officiating.
Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Rock Hill, Miss Jackson was the daughter of Henry Jackson of Edgemoor and the late William Mae Jackson. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her father are her son, Andre Jackson of Simpsonville; her daughter, Kimberly Jackson of Spartanburg; two brothers, Willie Jackson of Catawba and James Lewis Jackson of Edgemoor; two sisters, Brinnie Hinton and Mary Helen Jackson, both of Edgemoor; and a grandson.
The family will be at the home of her daughter Kimberly Jackson, 1150 Webber Way, Spartanburg, and at the home of her father, Henry Jackson, 2497 Twilight Road, Edgemoor.
The body will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. Monday.

SMYRNA - Mr. Stephen Martin, 83, of 2021 Cheyenne Road died Friday, June 4, 1999, at Sunshine Village in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Hopewell Baptist Church, with the Revs. Billy Sanders, Rickie Martin and Alton Martin officiating. Burial will be at Broad River Baptist Church
Cemetery in Smryna.
A native of York County, Mr. Martin was a son of the late Trudie C. Martin and Etter Pruitt Martin. He was retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon, Sunday school teacher and choir member.
Mr. Martin also was a licensed minister. He was a member and past master of Palmetto Lodge 289 AFM and a member of the Hejaz Shrine. He operated Martin's Grocery for 45 years.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Wright Martin; three sons, Harry D. Martin of Smyrna, Hoyle Donald Martin of Anderson and Larry Stephen Martin of Lancaster; his daughter, Joann Martin Bolin of Smyrna; his brother, Grady S. Martin of Hickory Grove; his sister, Virgie Martin Burns of Hickory Grove; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Roger Dennis Philbeck, 50, of 2028 Ebinport Road died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Zoar United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jimmy Howard officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Philbeck was a son of the late Teddy Philbeck and Margaret H. Philbeck of Gaffney. Mr. Philbeck was a salesman for most of his life and was a member of Zoar United Methodist Church and the Zoar men's club.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Peggy Philbeck of the home; two sons, Todd Philbeck and Lane Philbeck, both of Rock Hill; three brothers, T.H. Philbeck of Fort Mill,
the Rev. Norman Philbeck of Blacksburg and Barry Philbeck of Rock Hill; his sister, Janice Young of Florida; and two grandchildren.

A native of York County, Mrs. Richardson was a daughter of the late Henry Davis and Nannie Starr Davis. Mrs. Richardson was retired from Northwestern High School as a custodian. She was the widow of George Richardson. She was a member of Weeping Mary

Surviving are her son, Robert Williams of Buffalo, N.Y.; and two sisters, Ella Allen and Ethel Douglas Washington, both of Rock Hill; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed from from 10 a.m. to noon today at Parker Funeral Home.
The body will placed in the church at 1 p.m. today. The family will receive friends at home of Lisa Caldwell, 262 Greentree Drive.
Hope Williamson
NORCROSS, Ga. - Mrs. Hope Patricia Raven Moore Williamson, 62, died Saturday, May 29, 1999.
The graveside service was Wednesday at Gwinnett Memorial Park in Lawrenceville, Ga.
A native of Fulton County, Ga., Mrs. Williamson was the daughter of the late Victor Clarence Raven and Sallie Mae Dial Raven. She was employed with BellSouth for 19 years and was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband, Richard Williamson; two sons, Steven Williamson of Kennesaw, Ga. and Ricky Williamson of Norcross, Ga.; two daughters, Cindy Williamson of Dunwoody, Ga., and Vickie Pittarelli of Lawrenceville, Ga.; her brother, Norman George Raven of York; and three grandchildren.

SPARTANBURG - Annice Marguerite Amick, 75, of Webber Road, formerly of Rock Hill, died Friday, June 4, 1999, at White Oak Estates.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, with the Rev. A. Mickey Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Amick attended Spartanburg Methodist College and was a member of Pioneers of America. She was retired from Southern Bell.
Surviving are two sisters, Frances Cunningham of Rayne, La., and Lucille Powell of Polkville, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

CASSATT - Mr. Kenneth Wayne Blanchard, 63, of 1264 Old Elliott Road died Friday, June 4, 1999, at the Kershaw County Medical Center.
A memorial reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel.
A native of Proctorville, Vt., Mr. Blanchard was the son of Mildred Furman Blanchard Sawyer and the late Frank Blanchard Sr. Mr. Blanchard was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his son, Gerald W. Blanchard of Cassatt; two brothers, Albert Blanchard of San Antonio and Gary Sawyer of Marlborough, N.H.; two sisters, Edith Osmer of Cassatt and Sandra Williams of Ashuelot, N.H.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Brunson was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith. She was the daughter of the late Harvey and Eula Johnson Massey.
Surviving are three sons, Gary W. Brunson of Columbia, D. Dean Brunson of Rock Hill and Stephen Massey Brunson of Lake Charles, La.; her brother, Buddy Massey of Richburg; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A homemaker, Mrs. Gay was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, and also of the Sunbeams. She was the widow of Mr. Hutson Gay.
Surviving are two sons, James E. Gay of Kershaw and Donald H. Guy of Westville; three brothers, Roland E. Fulmer of Conway and Lorenzo T. Fulmer and Carlisle Fulmer, both of Florence; two sisters, Vera F. Downey of Georgetown and Evelyn Hardee of North Myrtle Beach; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Gross was retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. He was a member of Wood Haven Baptist Church and was a graduate of Richburg High School. He was a son of the late Joe Joran Gross and Estelle Caldwell Gross.
Surviving are his son, Robert Lee Gross of Weddington, N.C.; his daughter, Patricia Ann Franklin of Great Falls; two brothers, Joe Gross of Rock Hill and Bobby Gross of Charlotte;
his sister, Martha Watts of Chester; and three grandchildren.

EDGEMOOR - Mrs. Anna Christine Richardson Hicklin, 86, of Edgemoor died Friday, June 4, 1999, at Central Carolina Rehab in Lancaster.
The graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Edgemoor ARP Church cemetery, with the Rev. Allen Derrick officiating.
A native of McIntosh, Fla., Mrs. Hicklin was a daughter of the late James Purdie Richardson and Edena Hicklin Richardson. Her stepmother was Ethel Bowen Richardson. She was the widow of John Wylie Hicklin Sr. She was a graduate of Miami High School and attended Florida State University. She was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of Edgemoor ARP Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and former president of the Women of the Church.
Surviving are three sons, John Wylie Hicklin Jr. and James Frank Hicklin Sr., both of Edgemoor, and Christopher Marion Hicklin of Rock Hill; two daughters, Edena Marie Hicklin Sanders of Richburg and Roseann Ezzelle Hicklin of Edgemoor; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bass Funeral Home and at other times at the home, 2141 Hicklin Bridge Road in Edgemoor.

SHELBY, N.C. - Mary Louise Howell Shull, 89, of 1232 S. Lafayette St. died Saturday, June 5, 1999, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Lafayette Street Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gervase Hitch officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
Mrs. Shull was a housewife and member of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church, where she was a Wesley Fellowship Class Member.
Surviving are her son, Gordon B. Shull of Rock Hill; her daughter, Patsy S. Blanton of Icard, N.C.; four brothers, T.G. Howell Jr. and Robert G. Howell, both of Shelby, and Dewey L.
Howell and Winfred F. Howell; three sisters, Marie H. Wortman of Shelby, Ellen H. Guisepone of Staton Island, N.Y., and Betty H. Brackett of Cherryville, N.C.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
