YORK - Mr. Samuel Augustus "Sam" Collins, 73, of 1722 Sutton Springs Road died Thursday, June, 10, 1999, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bratton Funeral Home in York. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
A native of York County, he was a son of the late Bob Collins and Nannie Bell Lipe Collins. He was a retired supervisor at Dixie Yarns. He was a member of Mountain View Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys Smith Collins; four sons, Ronnie Collins of Rock Hill, the Rev. Larry Collins of York, Johnny E. Collins of Clover and Mike Collins of Lincolnton, N.C.; three daughters, Patricia Doyle of Kings Mountain, N.C., and Brenda Bailes and Vicky Parham Collins, both of Clover; four brothers, Tommy "Pee Wee" Collins, Marvin Collins, Jerry Collins and David Collins, all of Fort Mill; six sisters, Helen Nichols of Lake Wylie and Lillie Thomas, Viola Linden, Ida Bell East, Lucille Johnson, and Mary Ann Hancock, all of Fort Mill; 22 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home.

Henry Jackson Sr.
EDGEMOOR - Mr. Henry Jackson Sr. of 2497 Twilight Road died Tuesday, June 8, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, with the Revs. Clyde Raymond and Betty Hicks officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Mr. Jackson attended the public schools in York County. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, where he was chairperson of the Deacon Board and member of the Brotherhood.
He was a Mason. Mr. Jackson was a son of the late Joseph Jackson and Elmira Douglas Jackson. He was the widow of Willie Mae Ervin Jackson.
Surviving are two sons, Willie A. Jackson of Catawba and James Lewis Jackson of Edgemoor; two daughter, Brinnie Hinton and Mary Jackson, both of Edgemoor; two sisters, Icelean Porter of Rock Hill and Eva Adams of Edgemoor; eight grandchildren; and
six great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home.
The body will placed in the church at 2 p.m. Sunday. The family will receive friends at home.

CLINTON - Mrs. Lucia Jenkins Macdonald, 70, of 408 Elm St. died Thursday, June 10, 1999, at Laurens County Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at All Saints Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Dr. Lennart Pearson officiating. Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church
cemetery in Columbia.
A native of Charleston, Mrs. Macdonald was a daughter of the late Rivers Thomas Jenkins and Lewis Murchison Jenkins. She was educated at Ashley Hall, Stratford Junior College in Danville, Va., and graduated from the School of Nursing at Duke University. She was a former member of the Junior League of Charleston and St. Phillips Episcopal Church and Choir. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church and choir, past president of Episcopal Church Women and served on the Altar Guild. She was a member of the Acteon Club of Clinton and taught nursing to nurses aides at Presbyterian Homes in Clinton for several years.
Surviving are her husband, Dr. James Macdonald; three daughters, Jenks Howe of Clinton, Margaret Myers of Camden and Lib Harkness of Rock Hill; her brother, Rivers Thomas Jenkins Jr. of Wadmalaw Island; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends both at home and at the home of her daughter, Jenks Howe at Merrie Oaks.

CLOVER - Mr. William Raymond Pursley Jr., 68, of 2393 Highway 557 died Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Bethel Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. John Goss and Jonathan Dorst officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Filbert, Mr. Pursley was a son of the late William Raymond Pursley Sr. and Mary Jane Brown Pursley. He was a 1949 graduate of York High School and attended Clemson College. He was employed by Odell Associates in Charlotte for 31 years. He
was a member and elder of Bethel Presbyterian Church. Mr. Pursley was a board member of Westminster Towers in Rock Hill and was secretary-treasurer of York County Beekeepers
Association. He was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He served as secretary-treasurer of Clover Optimist Club.
Surviving are his wife, Ada Ford Pursley; two daughters, Laura P. Greene of Cary, N.C., and Jennifer P. Edgerton of Greensboro, N.C.; his brother, Rudolph Pursley of Rock Hill; his sister,
Elna DeVinney of York; and two grandchildren.

CLOVER - Mrs. Emma Caroline Donaldson Randell, 91, of 1568 St. Paul Church Road died Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at home.

A native of Chester, Pa., Mrs. Randell was a daughter of the late Harry Donaldson and Carla Machamer Donaldson. She was a retired housewife.
Surviving are two sons, Jerry W. Randell of Locust Grove, Va. and Jay W. Randell of Clover; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Annie Durham Sanders, 78, of 1995 Mount Holly Road died Monday, June 7, 1999, at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, N.C.

Mrs. Sanders was a daughter of the late Gus Moore and Rosa Colvin. She was the widow of John Sanders. Mrs. Sanders was a retired domestic worker. She was a member of Union Baptist Church, where she was the former second choir leader of the Hymn Choir. She was educated in the York County public schools.
Surviving are her son, Bishop Tommy L. Durham of the home; three daughters, Patty Douglas and Dianne Simril, both of Rock Hill, and Rosa Lee of North Wales, Pa.; four brothers, Isaac Durham and Daniel Colvin, both of Rock Hill, Nute E. Durham of
Philadelphia and James Moore of Salisbury, N.C.; two sisters, Elizabeth "Cat" Adams and Frances Cureton, both of Rock Hill; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at home and from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at By Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church.

FORT MILL - Mrs. Mary Odessa Steele, 81, of 113 Juniper St. died Tuesday, June 8, 1999, at Magnolia Manor.
The funeral will be noon Saturday at Jerusalem Baptist Church, with the Rev. M.N. Baxter officiating and the Revs. Carlwell Culp and Sheila Strait assisting. The Rev. Ray Thompson will
give the eulogy. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Steele was a daughter of the late John Smart and Anna Springs Smart. She was the widow of Earl Steele Sr. She was a cook for the Fort Mill Public School District and was also
retired from Springs Industries. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was educated in the York County public schools.
Surviving are three sons, James L. Steele and Leon N. Steele, both of Rock Hill, and Earl J. Steele Jr. of Monroe, N.C.; three daughters, Anna L. Adams of Washington, Gladys S. Brice of
Charlotte and Katherine S. Fuller of Garland, Texas; her sister, Aileen Wilson of Fort Mill; her brother, Milas Smart of Detroit; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four
great-great-grandchildren.

CLINTON - Mrs. Judith Stedman Bledsoe, 81, of the Presbyterian Home died Thursday, June 10, 1999, at Kerr-Johnson Health Care Center.
A memorial service will be at a later date.
A native of Zumbrota, Mich., Mrs. Bledsoe was a daughter of the late John Morse and Marian Gibbs Morse. She was a graduate of the Chicago Art Institute and a resident of Rock Hill for more than 30 years. She was a member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church. She was retired from the York County Hospital and served as executive secretary for the York County Cancer Society. She was a member of the Catawba Chapter No. 121 Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are her daughter, Pamela Gladden of Rock Hill; her sister, Elysabeth Bryan of Greenville; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

COLUMBIA - Mrs. Ann O'Farrell Cooler of Columbia died Thursday, May 13, 1999, at Laurel Hill Nursing Home in Pickens.
The funeral was May 15 at the chapel of Greenlawn Mausoleum. A native of York, Mrs. Cooler was a daughter of the late Thomas C. O'Farrell and Guemella F. "Millie" O'Farrell. She was the widow of Ernest W. Cooler Jr. She was retired from the Clemson University Extension Service, where she worked in the Pickens and Richland County offices. She was a member of Shandon Presbyterian Church, where she worked with the toddler class.
Surviving are her daughter, Sarah Cleaver of Colville, Wash.; two sons, Wes Cooler III of Sunset and Thomas Cooler of Pickens; two sisters, Sarah O'Farrell of York and Frances Moore of Lancaster; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A native of Rock Hill, the Rev. Costner was a son of the late Andrew W. Costner and Hattie Emma Hudson Costner. He was a member of Oakwood Acres Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. The Rev. Costner served several area churches during his ministry, including Catawba Baptist Church, White Street Baptist Church, Woodvale Baptist Church, Roddey Baptist Church, West Chester Baptist Church and Oakwood Acres Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Billie Craig Costner; her son, Kevin Costner of Rock Hill; his daughter, Gloria C. Wilson of Rock Hill; his brother, William Costner of Rock Hill; three

FORT MILL - Mr. Harry C. Eisenmann, 79, of 147 Cedar Hollow South in Heritage USA died Friday, May 28, 1999, at home.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Mr. Eisenmann was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II. He was a retired supervisor for Technical Publications at Lucas Aerospace and a former employee of OTRW. He was a member of Lifespring Ministries Church.

A native of Kershaw, Mr. Hunter was a son of the late J.T. Hunter Sr. and Ida Taylor Hunter. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was stationed in Rhode Island and later
hospitalized in the Veteran's Hospital in Wyoming. He was a member of Sand Hill Baptist Church, where he served as treasurer, deacon and deacon emeritus. He was a member of the
Woodman of the World Organization.
Surviving are his wife, Myrtice Faile Hunter; two daughters, Elaine Rodgers of Monroe, N.C., and Judy Shealy of Lexington; four sisters, Edna H. Threatt of Kershaw, Evelyn Thompson of Charlotte, Shirley Robinson of Rock Hill and Pat Small of Florence; two grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

Robert Perrill
ROCK HILL - Mr. Robert "Bob" Perrill, 78, died Friday, June 11, 1999 at home.
A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Oakdale Baptist Church. A graveside service will be in Ashville, Ohio.
A native of Ashville, Mr. Perrill was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Russell G. Perrill. He attended Ohio State University and entered the Allied Transport Command during World War II. During the war, he flew "The Hump" from India to China as a flight engineer carrying supplies to the Chinese. After the war, Mr. Perrill flew with American Airlines and Pan American Airlines. He later worked for North American Rockwell as a senior technical engineer in charge of all U.S. Navy training aircraft in Pensacola, Fla. He retired in Rock Hill and was active in the Baptist church.
Surviving are three sons, Ret. Capt. Fred E. Perrill, Peter Perrill and John Perrill; his daughter, Patricia A. Cloninger; two brothers, Wiemer Perrill and Gordon Perrill; and seven
grandchildren.

Vivian Robinson
LANCASTER - Mrs. Vivian Major Robinson, 76, of 1074 Edgar Drive died Friday, June 11, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Shiloh ARP Church, with the Rev. David Lauten officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Greer, Mrs. Robinson was a daughter of the late W.B. Major and Janie Elizabeth Craig Major. Mrs. Robinson was a choir director and private music teacher for many years. She was a member of Shiloh ARP Church. She earned her bachelor's degree from Winthrop University and her master's degree in arts and music from Columbia University in New York.
Surviving are her husband, Sam W. Robinson; her son, William L. Robinson of Lancaster; three daughters, Amanda Rowe of Blacksburg, Ann Marie Green of Kershaw and Jane Plyler of Lancaster; her sister, Roberta C. Major of Greenwood; and 11 grandchildren.

A native of Chester, Mr. Craig was the son of the late Ward C. and Ila Mae Martin Craig Sr. He was the widower of Nellie Mae Rollins Craig.
Mr. Craig was the owner/operator of Craig Bros. & Sons Trucking, American Glass Co. and Ace Trailer Sales. He was a charter member of the Moose Lodge No. 1240 and a former member of the S.C. Truckers Association. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are two sons, Franklin E. "Pete" Craig and Jerry T. Craig, both of Rock Hill; five daughters, Linda C. Friscia, Wanda C. Hyatt, Gail C. Smith and Janice C. Rumsey, all of Rock
Hill, and Trudy C. Webster of Catawba; his brother, William D. Craig of Rock Hill; four sisters, Dorothy C. Friscia, Beatrice C. Phillips and Betty C. Garrison, all of Rock Hill, and Frances C. Hammond of Fort Mill; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Dorothy Peterson Johnson, 68, of 1240-107 Stoney Pointe Drive died Saturday, June 12, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Mormon church and was a registered nurse.
She was the daughter of the late James and Dorothy Williams Peterson.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna Price and Gloria Kirk, both of Rock Hill; two sons, Robert Johnson of California and Chalmers Kirk of Rock Hill; two brothers, Jake Peterson and
Gordon Peterson, both California; and six grandchildren.

GREAT FALLS - Mr. Frank E. Mead, 29, of 343 Edwards Circle died Saturday, June 12, 1999.

A native of South Boston, Mass., Mr. Mead was the son of Frank Curtis of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Judy Boan Johnson of Chester.
He attended Chester County schools and was employed with Pro Window and Siding of Rock Hill.

YORK - Mrs. Martha Howell "Dolly" Anderson, 73, of 31 Pecan Circle died Friday, June 11, 1999, at her residence.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke's No. 2 Baptist Church in Sharon, with the Rev. Bruce E. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Hickory Grove, Mrs. Anderson was a faithful member of the St. Luke's No. 2 Baptist Church, where she served on the hymn choir and was a former member of the usher board. She also was a member of the order of Eastern Star and served as treasurer of the St. Luke AP&B Society.
Surviving are her son, George Leon Anderson of Rock Hill; two daughters, Doris Jean Bailey of Eutawville and Joyce Ann Robbins of Sharon; four brothers, James Howell of Gastonia, N.C., John Howell and J.W. Howell, both of York, and Arthur Howell of
Philadelphia; three sisters, Anna Ervin of Philadelphia, Margie Burriss of York and Mary Helen Pharr of York; and five grandchildren.

LANCASTER - Mr. Archie Beaty Cauthen, 75, of 1593 McIlwain Road died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at the Carolina Pines Regional Hospital in Hartsville.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the graveside in the Lancaster Memorial Park, with the Rev. William Walters officiating.
A native of Lancaster, Mr. Cauthen was the son of the late Robert Cauthen and Lola Cauthen.
Mr. Cauthen was an Army World War II veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.
He was also a member of the Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 53. Mr. Cauthen retired after 35 years with I.E. DuPont in Camden as a power-plant operator.
Surviving are his son, Billy Cauthen of Lancaster; his daughter, Brenda Hood of Lancaster; two brothers, Shannon Cauthen and Floyd Cauthen, both of Lancaster; two sisters, Jimmie Brown of Somerset, Kentucky, and Mildred Thomas of Fort Mill. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Cauthen.

SALISBURY, N.C. - Mr. Ransom Martin Osborne, 84, of Midland died Friday, June 11, 1999, at the Veterans Hospital in Salisbury.
The funeral will be 12:30 p.m. today at the McEwen Funeral Service Mint Hill Chapel. Burial will be at Zoar United Methodist Church cemetery.
A native of Mecklenburg County, Mr. Osborne was the son of the late Hank Osborne and Rebecca McMann Osborne. He was a member of the Zoar United Methodist Church, an Army veteran and a self-employed painter.
Surviving are his wife, Eva; his stepdaughter Mary Hoxit of Charlotte; two stepsons, Olin Haigler of Charlotte and John Haigler of Monroe, N.C.; and his sister Jessie Pearson of Rock

A native of York County, Mr. Rawls was the son of the late Edward Rawls Sr. and Ada Rawls.

LANCASTER - Miss Georgia Wilson Rowell, 81, of 302 W. Meeting St. died Saturday, June 12, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. today from the graveside at the Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Thomas Wilkes III and the Rev. Robert J. Robinson officiating.
A native of Lancaster, Miss Rowell was a member of the Tabernacle United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher and financial secretary. She had retired as secretary and bookkeeper for Crenshaw Plumbing and Heating Company.
Surviving are two sisters, Edna Usher of Charleston and Mary Jo Robinson of Lancaster.

A native of York County, Mrs. Barber was a daughter of the late Rev. E.S. Anderson and Mary Blake Anderson. She was the widow of David Barber.
Mrs. Barber was a retired domestic worker. She was a member of Rock Grove AME Zion Church, where she was a member of the Missionary Society, First Board, Helping Hands and Deaconess Board. She was a member of Rose of Sharon Order of Eastern Star No. 30 and the Heroines of Jericho-Bailey Starr Court No. 5.
Surviving are her son, John Fred Anderson of Buffalo, N.Y.; her brother, Joseph Anderson of Rock Hill; her sister, Jeanette Lewis of Decatur, Ga.; three grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

A native of Rock Hill, the Rev. Costner was a son of the late Andrew W. Costner and Hattie Emma Hudson Costner. He was a member of Oakwood Acres Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. The Rev. Costner served several area churches during his ministry, including Catawba Baptist Church, White Street Baptist Church, Woodvale Baptist Church, Roddey Baptist Church, West Chester Baptist Church and Oakwood Acres Baptist Church.

TUCKER, Ga. - Mrs. Frank F. Sutton, 88, formerly of Lancaster, died Sunday, June 13, 1999, in Tucker.

A native of Pageland, Mrs. Sutton was a daughter of the late Rupert Earl Funderburk and Edith Odessa Jenkins Funderburk. She was the widow of Spurgeon Marcus Sutton. She was a retired dietitian for Chesterfield Avenue Grammar School. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
Surviving are her son, Marcus R. Sutton of Tucker; her daughter, Sue S. Haigler of Kingstree; two sisters, Altha Arant of Pageland and Toncie Furman of Newport News, Va.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
