Services for James Brodus Littlejohn, 63, of 409 East Junior High Road, Apt. 96, will be held today at 1 p.m. at Indian Hill Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Mary E. Jefferies. Burial will be in Mount Zion Baptist Church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at noon.
Pallbearers and flower bearers will be his nephews and nieces, respectively.

Lyman H. Pennington
Brother of Gaffney resident
Lyman Hall Pennington, 74, a resident of Jackson County, Fla., for the past 15 years, passed away on Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at a local hospital.
A Mason, Mr. Pennington was a member of Scottish Rites and Cypress Creek Community Church.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Pennington of Marianna, Fla.; a son, Robert Pennington of Cottondale, Fla.; two daughters, Linda Scott of Asheville, N.C., and Janet Carnley of Cottondale; a brother, James Pennington of Gaffney; and four grandchildren.
Memorials services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Cypress Creek Community Church in Alford, Fla., with Pastor James Vickery officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family will receive expressions of sympathy and memories of Mr. Pennington at 4433 Orchard Point Drive, Apt. 3-D, Marianna, Fla. 32448.

John G. Brasington Jr.
Cherokee County Director of Emergency Management
John G. Brasington Jr., 57, of 1133 South Green River Road, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Brasington was the husband of Linda Flowe Brasington of the home and son of John G. Brasington Sr. of Gaffney and the late Susan White Brasington. Born in Surry County, N.C., he was a member of Buford Street United Methodist Church and attended Macedonia Baptist Church.
He had been Director of Emergency Management for Cherokee County for over 30 years and served as the Cherokee County Hazmat Director. He was captain of the Macedonia VFD, serving also as a first responder, and was a sponsor for Emergency Service Explorers.
Mr. Brasington was a member of the South Carolina Emergency Management Agency, a former board member of the American Red Cross, receiving the Clara Barton Award. He was a member of the March of Dimes Steering committee, a former life member of the Sertoma Club, a former member of the Macedonia Water District, a member of the original Peach Festival Board of Directors, and was a FCC licensed Radio Operator (KG4UTD).
He was a former manager of the men's department at Belk Department Stores Inc. in Gaffney, receiving one of the first Excellence Awards.
Surviving in addition to his wife and father are a son and daughter-in-law, John G. "Jody" and Angie Minton Brasington III of Pacolet; a daughter, Margaret Rebecca "Becky" Brasington of Gaffney; and a brother, William Brasington of Snellville, Ga.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Terry Duvall. A private interment will be held at a later date.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church and at other times they will be at the home.
Pallbearers will be Reggie Petty, Jamie Caggiano, Steve Blanton, Dennis Gardner, Aaron Medley and Richard Jackson.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Macedonia VFD and the Cherokee County Emergency Preparedness Team.

Joyce H. Willingham

CHESNEE – Joyce Donalene Huskey Willingham, 64, of 248 Willingham Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, after a six-year battle with ovarian cancer.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of Virginia Martin Huskey and the late Odel Huskey. She was a graduate of Chesnee High School and was of the Baptist faith. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a graduate of the G.O.P. School at Parris Island.
Ms. Willingham was retired from Spartanburg County School District Two after 32 years of service as a secretary and teacher. She was employed by Hamrick's of Gaffney.
Survivors include a son, Lyndon S. Willingham of Spartanburg; a sister, Patsy Ann Huskey Fowler Simms of Chesnee; two brothers, Harold Douglas Huskey of Chesnee and Larry Huskey of Cowpens; and a very special dedicated friend, George J. Mitchell of Taylors.
Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Springhill Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Alan Taylor. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service.
The body may be viewed during regular business hours at Eggers Funeral Home in Chesnee.

ARCADIA – Ruby Etta Geddes, 82, of Bailey Street, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at Woodruff Manor Nursing Home.
A native of Gainesville, Ga., she was the widow of James G. Geddes and daughter of the late Linnie Lillian Saxon Powers and Claude William Powers Sr. She was a member of Arcadia First Baptist Church for 45 years, where she was a member of Ruth's Sunday School Class. She was a former Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout leader and retired employee of Mayfair Mills after 45 years of service.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Geddes was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Glenn Geddes.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathy Bonham of Chesnee; a son, James David Geddes of Maiden, N.C.; a sister, Edith Gowan of Boiling Springs; a brother, Leland Powers Sr. of Inman; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Arcadia First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev.v Joey Burnett. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home of her daughter at 127 Splawn St., Chesnee.

Robert Joseph Marcoux, 65, of 326 Sierra Drive, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at the home of his brother,
A native of Wilsonville, Conn., he was the son of the late Prosper Osias Marcoux and the late Exilda Lepine Marcoux. He was an instructor for the U.S. Postal Service and worked as a caretaker for Harris Brown. He was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving are a brother, Ray Marcoux, of Gaffney and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Cryptside services will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, conducted by Mr. James Wallace. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1-2 p.m. at the mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Chase Quinn, Mike Butler, Randy Stepp, Rafael Mateo, Charles H. Pickle and Darren Covil.

GREER – Jetter Franklin (Bud) Vehorn Jr., 84, of 106 Wilson Road, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, in Allen Bennett Hospital.
A native of Anderson County, he was a son of the late Jetter Franklin Vehorn Sr. and Lillie Gosnell Vehorn. Mr. Vehorn was an active member of Victor United Methodist Church and was a veteran of World War II – 1st Marine Division.
Surviving are his wife, Doris (Dot) Hill Vehorn of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Robert D. Vehorn and Linda Vehorn of Greer; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Wilson Smith of Gaffney and Karen and George Georgiades of Greenville; a brother, Roy J. Vehorn of Columbus, N.C.; a sister, Mildred Duckworth of Pelzer; six grandchildren, Mark Vehorn, Julie Vehorn, Warren Smith, Kevin Smith, Jason Georgiades and Dena Georgiades; and three great-grandchildren, Zoe Massey, Keely Smith and Riley Smith.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Vehorn was predeceased by a son, Thomas Jeffrey Vehorn, and a grandson, Jeffery Bryan Vehorn.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Victor United Methodist Church, conducted by the Revs. Les Gardner and Daniel Waters. Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Warren Smith, Kevin Smith, Jason Georgiades, Reggie Wilson, Raymond Shafer and Jack Avery.

Howard Odell Hughey, 75, of 305 Misty Lane, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at his residence.
A native of Cherokee County, he was the widower of Nettie Sue Smith Hughey and son of the late Andrew Bonner Hughey and the late Orie Jenkins Hughey. He was co-owner of Hughey Bros. Builders for 23 years and was a member of Abingdon Creek Baptist Church, where he served in many offices.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie H. and Paul H. Blackwell of Stonewall, Miss., Kay H. and Ricky D. Pearson of Gaffney and Sandra H. and Dick Bryant of Summerfield, N.C.; four grandsons, Billy Anthony of Gaffney, Russ, Franklin and Grayson Bryant of Summerfield, N.C.; two granddaughters, Adrienne H. Blackwell of Stonewall, Miss., and Anita B. Feerer of Meridian, Miss.; two great-granddaughters, Jessica and Kayla Anthony of Gaffney; two step-grandsons, Rick and Michael Pearson of Gaffney; two step-great-grandsons, Jake and Luke Pearson of Gaffney; four half-sisters, Hazel Sellers, Debra Adams, Dana Scruggs, all of Gaffney, and Betty Parris of Chesnee; and two half-brothers, Jimmy Hughey and David Hughey, both of Gaffney.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Hughey was preceded in death by his brothers, Wilburn B., Hubert C. and Harlan E. Hughey; a sister, Thelma J., who died at the age of two years; and his stepmother, Alma P. Hughey Willis.

Pearlie Parris

BLACKSBURG – Pearlie Parris, 94, of 207 Parris Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Cherokee Falls, she was the daughter of the late Minor Parris and the late Bessie Moss Parris. She was a retired textile employee and the oldest member of Nazareth Baptist Church.
Surviving are two brothers, Fred Parris and his wife, Ruby, of Blacksburg and Dock Parris of Casagrand, Ariz.; and two sisters, Lillie Parris and Lula P. Martin of Blacksburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruthie and Rosa Lee Parris.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Blacksburg Church of God. Burial will be in Clingman Memorial Gardens. Body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m.
