Lois Morgan Gettys
Lois Morgan Gettys, 92, formerly of 122 Gettys Drive, died Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at Peachtree Centre. She was the wife of the late William Arthur Gettys Sr. and the daughter of the late Rhett Morgan and the late Junie Huskey Morgan.
A native of Gaffney, she was a homemaker and a member of Grassy Pond Baptist Church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by four grandchildren, William Milan Gettys, Tony Madison Gettys, Gay Gettys Guthrie, Lorrie Gettys Morris; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, William Arthur Gettys Jr.; an infant son, Tony Gettys; an infant daughter, Gloria Gettys; two brothers and six sisters.
The family is at the home of her daughter-in-law, Margaret Gettys Robbs, 1258 Robbs School Road.

Terrell L. Painter
Gaffney native
Terrell Lee Painter, 59, of 308 Michigan Ave., died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Gaffney, he was the son of the late Roy Paul Painter and the late Ethel Mae Pearson Painter. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Elaine Painter of Gaffney; two daughters, Summer Painter and Kimberly Dawn Wood of Gaffney; a son, Jimmy Dean Painter of Gaffney; two sisters, Paula Bishop and Gayle White, both of Gaffney; and a brother, Larry Painter of Gaffney.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Painter was preceded in death by a son, Terry Lee Painter.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Oakland cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Alan Peeler.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 at the home of his sister, Paula Bishop, 514 Stephenson St.

Romeo Max Rollins
U.S. Navy veteran
Romeo Max Rollins, 66, of 169 Junie Road, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cherokee County, he was the husband of Ann Dixon Rollins of the home and son of the late James Wade and Etheryn Hammett Rollins. He was a member of Cherokee Creek Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Navy.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Timothy Max Rollins and David Dewayne Rollins, both of Gaffney; a brother, James Marcus Rollins, of Gaffney; and five grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Cherokee Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mike Frazier officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bedford Fitzgerald, Randy Littlejohn, Randall Littlejohn, Chris Bedenbaugh, Tim Ruppe and Charles McCraw.
The family is at the home.

Leonard S. Teague
Formerly employed by City of Gaffney
Leonard Samuel Teague, 62, of Limestone Street, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Gaffney, he was the son of the late John Creighton Teague and the late Mary Blanton Teague. He was formerly employed by the City of Gaffney and was a Christian and member of Faith Bible Fellowship Church in Chesnee.
Surviving are a brother, Robert Teague of Chesnee; a sister, Patricia Hayes of Gaffney; and a number of nieces and nephews and an uncle.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Teague was preceded in death by a brother, Jackie Dean Teague.
Graveside services will be held today at 4 p.m. at Oakland cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Rice. The family will receive friends from 2:30-3:30 p.m. today at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Donald Reese, Buford Phillips, Jackie Stanford, Bobby Willard, Thomas Kitchens and James Kitchens.

Roy D. Davis Sr.
Retired businessman
Roy D. Davis Sr., 91, of 1020 N. Granard St., died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Gaffney, he was the husband of Geraldine Sarratt Davis of the home and son of the late Jerman T. Davis and the late Elizabeth Loftis Davis. He was a retired businessman and a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Roy D. Davis Jr. of Gastonia, N.C.; a grandson, the Rev. Scott Davis of Concord, N.C.; a granddaughter, Kim Freeman of Belmont, N.C.; a sister, Marguerite Robinson of New York; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Davis, and several brothers and sisters.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel, conducted by Dr. Clyde Thomas and the Revs. Scott Davis and Sidney Norton. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be members of the Millwood-Smith Sunday School Class of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the residence.

Cornelia Owensby Skinner, 85, passed away Friday, Nov. 12, 2004.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late W. M. (Bill) and Minnie Pennington Owensby. She was a retired hairdresser and a life-long member of East Gaffney Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Basil H. Skinner; a brother, Floyd Owensby; and four sisters, Alta Moore, Inez Shirley, Mildred White, and Dezzie Whiten.
Surviving are a daughter, Charlene Clary and her husband, Mike; a daughter-in-law, Eddie Dee Skinner; three grandsons, Chris Skinner, Kent Sellars and David Sellars, all of Gaffney; two great-grandsons, Mike Skinner and Matthew Skinner, both of Gaffney; and two brothers, Basil Owensby, of Palm Bay, Fla., and James (Sam) Owensby, of Louisville, Ga.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at East Gaffney Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ron Jackson. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 9 a.m.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
The family is at the residence of her daughter at 408 Grace St.

Wilma Jane Coggins
Retired director of personnel department at Gaffney Manufacturing
Wilma Jane Sarratt Coggins, 94, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at Peachtree Centre.
Born in the City of Gaffney on Sept. 9, 1910, she was the daughter of the late John Quincey Sarratt and Myrtle Bessie Camp Sarratt. She was the widow of Paul Noel Coggins who passed away on Jan. 1, 1997. The couple was married
on Nov. 12, 1938, at Providence Baptist Church during a 5 p.m. ceremony.
In 1939, Mrs. Coggins began working as an assistant in the personnel department at Gaffney Manufacturing and was, before retiring in 1959, promoted to the Director of Personnel. She and her husband were members of the First Baptist Church of Gaffney.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Janelle Taylor Sarratt, and nephew, Samuel Clayton Sarratt.
Graveside services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Joel Sellars and Bobby Morrow.
Pallbearers were Jim Cudd, Larry Belk, Johnny Sarratt, Bill Sarratt, Tom Higgins and Gregory Tate.

Myrtle H. Hawkins
SHELBY - Myrtle Hamrick Hawkins, 63, of 5033 Pecan Drive, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, in Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
Florence C. Davis
Retired secretary
Florence Cothran Davis, 83, of Taylorsville, N.C., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, N.C.
Mrs. Davis was born Jan. 28, 1921, to Thomas Martin Cothran and Evie Gowan Cothran in Fingerville. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel G. Davis Sr., and two brothers, Joe D. Cothran and Jack T. Cothran, both of Gaffney.
Florence was a member of First Baptist Church in Taylorsville where she was a member of L.L.L. Sunday School Class. She was retired after working as a secretary at Schneider Mills for 33 years. She was a graduate of Gaffney High School and Geyer Business College in Charlotte.
Loved ones left to cherish her memory include five children, Elaine Branton and husband, Kenneth, Mary Ann Icenhour and husband, Vinson, Sam Davis Jr. and wife, Alva, Billy Davis and wife, Judy, and stepson, Jerry Davis, and wife, Pat; seven grandchildren, Kenny Branton, Ronnie Branton and wife, Debbie, Ray Icenhour, Amy Icenhour, Ben Icenhour, Joel Davis and wife, Angie, and Josh Davis; two step-grandchildren, Rick Davis and Vicky Dawson; three great-grandchildren, Kristi Branton, Blake Branton and Chandler Davis; four step-great-grandchildren; Arielle Dawson, Jared Dawson, Jamie Lynn Davis and Bobby Ann Davis; and a sister-in-law, Lorena Cothran.
Visitation will be today from 7-9 pm at Alexander Service in Taylorsville.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Taylorsville. The Revs. Dennis Spivey and Jamie Steele will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Baptist Church cemetery.

BLACKSBURG - Pauline Turner Mullinax, 72, of 735 Old Buffalo Church Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at her home.
Born on Nov. 27, 1931, in Cleveland County, N.C., she was the wife of Lawrence Mullinax of the home and daughter of the late Jim Turner and the late Eunice Bell Turner. She was retired from Artee Industries and was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mullinax was preceded in death by two sisters, Estell Martin and Frances Mullinax, and a brother, Bill Turner.
Also surviving are daughters, Lillie Hammett and husband, David, Darlene Upchurch and husband, Robert, all of Gaffney, Teresa Beaver and husband, Tommy, of Polkville, N.C., Margaret Aranove and husband, Gator, of Toccoa, Ga., Sherry Ledbetter and husband, Don, of Gillsville, Ga., Mary Sue Owens of Gaffney and Virgie Owens of Polkville; sons, Dennis “Buster” Mullinax and wife, Renee, Johnny Mullinax and wife, Tammy, Michael Mullinax and wife, Patty, all of Blacksburg; sisters, Betty Jean Martin and husband, David, of Grover, Louise Lee and husband, L.B., Elizabeth Warren and husband, Johnny, Lenora Bolin and Melvena Turner, all of Shelby; 28 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Billy Boone, Johnny Owens and Fain Morrison. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m.
