Mary B. Jenkins
Retired receptionist from Limestone College
Mary Blackwell Jenkins, 91, of Peachtree Centre, formerly of College Drive, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Gaffney, she was the widow of Lloyd Jenkins and daughter of the late Noble Jackson Blackwell and the late Mattie Estes Blackwell. She was a retired receptionist from Limestone College and was a member of First Baptist Church of Gaffney.
Surviving are a nephew, Harold E. Blackwell, of Union; a stepson and a stepdaughter.
Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Salem Presbyterian Church cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Joel Sellers. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Presbyterian Church, 1907 Hickory Grove Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29340.

Ricky E. Dover
Former Gaffney Mfg. employee
Ricky Eugene Dover, 47, of 618 Broad St., died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, in U-pstate Carolina Medical Center.
Born in Gaffney, he was a son of the late Sandy and Grace El-more Dover. He was a 1975 graduate of Gaffney High School, a U.S. Army veteran and a former employee of Limestone Manufacturing Co.
Surviving are three brothers, James Edward Dover, Bobby Joe Dover and Michael Dover, all of Gaffney; three sisters, Mary Dover, Ruth Dover and Sandra Mitchem, all of Gaffney; a sister-in-law, Karen Dover of Gaffney; four aunts, Sarah Davidson and Laura Rankin, both of Gaffney, Edith Tracey and Mozelle Dawkins, both of Cowpens; two nieces and 10 nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Dr. A.L. Brackett officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.
The family is at the home of a niece, Diedra Dover, 303 Sarratt St.
Molly P. Mayes
Alabama native
WOODRUFF – Molly Phillips Mayes, 54, of 107 Stoneledge Drive, wife of Wayne J.W. Mayes, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at 11 p.m. at her residence.
Daughter of the late Lucinda "Cindy" Phillips, she was a native of Marion, Ala., and a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a nurse at Walter Reid Hospital in the District of Columbia. She was a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Gaffney and attended Alabama A&M; University.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Anthony Bernard Mayes Sr. of Gaffney; a sister, Evelyn Craig of Marion, Ala.; three brothers, Sears Lee Phillips of Perry, Fla., Ray Phillips of Marion, Ala., and William M. Phillips of Syracuse, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and a nephew and niece whom she reared as her children, Reginald Phillips and Mershall Craig of Marion, Ala.
The family is at the home of her mother-in-law, Genell Mayes, 2407 Beech St., Gaffney.

PACOLET – Christine Gault Littlejohn, 87, of 751 Jerusalem Road, widow of Jesse Littlejohn, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at her residence.
Daughter of the late Boyce Gault and the late Lillie Keenan Gault, she was a member of Foster Chapel Baptist Church in Jones-ville.
Surviving are four daughters, Lillie Barber of Bayside, N.Y., Ella Kelly of Pacolet, Ruth Holmes of Roebuck and Mildred Rawlison of Blacksburg.
Services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Mark Hill Baptist Church, Jonesville, conducted by the Revs. T.J. Jackson, L.D. Dawkins, Dr. Roger Mason and Evangelist Mary Webster. Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Church cemetery in Kelton.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Ella Kelly, 751 Jerusalem Road, Pacolet.

Dorothy L. Green
Nurse's assistant at Brookview HealthCare
Dorothy L. Green, 69, of 135 Connecticut Ave., died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Green was the wife of Jimmy L. Green Sr. and daughter of the late Ervin Stewart and the late Thelma Dover Stewart. She was a member of The Step By Step Ministries of Greenville and worked as a nurse's assistant at Brookview HealthCare Center.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Jimmy L. Green Jr. of the home; three brothers, Edward Stewart, Edward "Midse" Burgess, Francis "Sonny" Burgess and Ronnie Burgess of Cleveland, Ohio; and a sister, Buristine Miller of Ohio.
Services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor Donald Frazier and Dr. U.D. Vernon. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.

Mildred O. Denton
Retired from Cherokee Falls Mill
Mildred Owensby Denton, 77, of 107 South View Drive, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at her home.
A native of Cherokee Falls, she was the widow of Clarence William Denton and daughter of the late Russell Owensby and the late Clara Hampton Owensby. She was retired from Cherokee Falls Mill and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Tammy Jackson of Gaffney; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Cobb of Cherokee Falls; and three brothers, Larry Owensby of Gastonia, Mike Owensby of Spartanburg and Ray Owensby of Cherokee Falls.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Denton was preceded in death by a son, Robert Denton, and a daughter, Debbie Parris.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Alester McKinney. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home and at other times they will be at 547 Buck Shoals Road.
Peggy B. Parker
Former Cherokee County Tax Assessor
Margaret (Peggy) Boyette Parker, 54, of 2799 Wilkinsville Hwy., died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, at the home of her sister.
Mrs. Par-ker was the widow of Irby L. Par-ker and daughter of Margaret Sparks Boyette of Gaffney and the late Luther E. Boyette Sr. She was a member of Draytonville Baptist Church, where she and her husband taught the 5-year-olds Sunday School class for a number of year. She also taught the Senior Ladies Class.
Mrs. Parker graduated from Gaffney Senior High School in 1968 and attended Alverson-Broughan Business College. She was office manager for Belk for 20 years prior to working with Cherokee County Assessor's office. She served as Cherokee County Tax Collector for a number of years.
Surviving in addition to her mother are two sisters, Barbara B. Padgett and husband, Jim, and Cindy B. Flores and husband, Vince, all of Gaffney; a brother, Luther (JR) Boyette and wife, Dana, of Evansville, Ind.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Draytonville Baptist Church. Visitation will be tonight from 7-9 at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Don Childers, Lee Turner, Bink Parris, Hoke Parris, Terry Holmes, Walter "Fat" Phillips, Bruce Jacobson, Jim Parker and Neb Cash.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, Interim Hospice, House of Grace or Draytonville Baptist Church.
Joseph R. Brock
U.S. Navy veteran
BOILING SPRINGS - Joseph Robert "Bob" Brock, 72, of 223 Fourth Street, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, in Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
A native of Cherokee County, he was the husband of Barbara Dean Sowers Brock and son of the late Mary Elizabeth Holcombe Brock and Columbus Lindsey Brock. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Brock was preceded in death by a sister, Lib Harmon, and a brother, C.L. Brock Jr.
Also surviving are a daughter, Perri Dawn Brock White; a son, Joseph A. "Tony" Brock; five sisters, Lucille Jernigan of Spartanburg, Josephine Phillips of North Augusta, Alfa Mae McKinney of Mayo, Shirley Evans of Spindale and Gail Davis of Chesnee; and one grandchild.
Graveside services were held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Springhill Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Danny Garrett.
Family members are at their respective homes.

'Mac" McClellan
Assistant manager of Shelby Wal-Mart
Walter B. 'Mac" McClellan, 68, of 100 Chaucer Drive, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Mr. McClellan was born in Buncombe County, N.C., and was a son of the late Clarence Joseph and Edna Evelyn Jenkins McClellan. A U.S. Navy veteran, he was assistant manager of the Shelby Wal-Mart and was a member of Gaffney Freewill Baptist Church.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife, Margaret Ponder Leonard McClellan; two daughters, Debra Trader of Florence and Penney Kinley of Gaffney; two sons, Keith McClellan of Florence and Michael Ponder of Gaffney; two stepsons, Ralph and Richard Renfro of Cape Coral, Fla.; three sisters, Lois Barrett, Ruth Ballard and Doris Fender, all of Asheville, N.C.; a brother, Donald McClellan, of Arden, N.C.; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held today at noon in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans cemetery, Black Mountain, N.C., with the Rev. Dennis Tolley officiating. Burial will be in the Veterans cemetery.

Hovey S. Allen
Received Presidential Citation from Harry S. Truman for service in WWII
LOCKHART – Hovey S. Allen, 80, husband of Lillian Brank Allen of 4724 Jonesville-Lockhart Hwy., Union, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, in Wallace Thomson Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Allen was born in Sharon on Nov. 12, 1924, a son of the late James and Sara Catherine Odom Allen. He was a Baptist. Mr. Allen was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy and received a Presidential Citation from President Harry S. Truman. He was a retired self-employed building contractor and was also retired from Milliken and Company-Lockhart Plant as general overseer of the weaving department.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy A. Hyatt and her husband, Phil, of Spartanburg and Nan A. Ruppe and her husband, Alan, of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Tracy Vanderford, Jenna Cabaniss and Colton Cabaniss; and one great-grandchild, Sydnie Vanderford.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Allen was preceded in death by three brothers, Bob Allen, Thomas Allen and Willie Allen.
Graveside services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Ben Hill.
The family is at the residence, 4724 Jonesville-Lockhart Hwy., Union.
