Samuel Allen Davis, 83, of 1710 Burnt Gin Road, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at his home.
Born July 28, 1921, in Pacolet, he was the son of the late Zeb and Emma Allen Davis and widower of Darcus Revels Davis.
Survivors include two sons, Samuel E. Davis of Cowpens and Gerald Davis of Gaffney; a daughter, Brenda Lemmon of Gaffney; and two sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today at White Rose cemetery in Pacolet Mills.

Guynetta W. Bishop
“The Cake Lady”
MAYO – Guynetta Wilson Bishop, 63, lovingly known as “The Cake Lady, ” of 1191 Sprindale Road, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, at her home.
A native of Spartanburg County, she was the wife of Willford Bishop and daughter of the late Woodrow and Lillian Hall Wilson. She was retired from Community Cash Store in Chesnee after 32 years of service and was a member of Buck Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ideal Mothers Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Fowler.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Terry Bishop and Danny Bishop of Mayo; a sister, Mildred Mahaffey of Chesnee; two brothers, Raymond Wilson and William Wilson, both of Chesnee; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Buck Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Odell Mosley and Allen Dean Blanton. Burial will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens.

Floyd Eldridge
Retired construction worker
Floyd Eldridge, 78, of 122 Anthony St., died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Cowpens, he was the husband of Betty Jo Owens Eldridge and son of the late Lucy Martin Eldridge. He was a retired construction worker and member of Providence Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a Mason.
Mr. Eldridge is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Owens Eldridge of the home.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Eldridge was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Eldridge Williams.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Revs. Ronnie Cox and B.F. Coyle.
The family will receive friends any time at the residence.

Sue H. Shea
Former apartment manager
COWPENS – Sue Hammett Shea, 80, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at White Oak Manor in Spartanburg. She was a former resident of 1824 Old Pacolet Road in Cowpens.
Mrs. Shea was the daughter of the late James Clarence and Mable Hammett. She was first married
to the late John J. Wallace for over 30 years.
A graduate of Cowpens High School, she attended Winthrop College and made her home for many years in Oak Park, Ill., and Washington, D.C., as an apartment manager. She was a member of Cowpens First Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Wallace Bergman of Woodland, Texas; two grandchildren, Dr. Elizabeth Bergman Crist and husband, Dr. Harris Crist, of Austin, Texas, and Jeff Bergman and wife, Gina, of Woodlands, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Haley Bergman and Grant Bergman, also of Woodland, Texas.
She is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Hammett of Cowpens and Mary Terry and husband, Sam, of Austell, Ga.; three brothers, John M. Hammett and wife, Hazel, of Chesnee, James “Jim” C. Hammett of Pacolet and Eugene E. Hammett and wife, Monique, of Boganvillia, Texas.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Pridmore, of York and two brothers, Joe D. Hammett of Gaffney and Fred Hammett of Cowpens.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens in Cowpens, conducted by the Revs. Greg Dry and Benny Davis.
Visitation will be at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home in Gaffney from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund at Cowpens First Baptist Church, 108 W. Church St., Cowpens, S.C. 29330.

Geraldine H. Hill
Member of Gospel Echoes
CHESNEE – Geraldine H. Hill, 66, of 208 Hill Circle, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, in Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
A native of Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary Lawter Henderson, She was a talented lady who loved to write poems, paint and sing, and was also a great cook. A member of the Gospel Echoes, she was a retired employee of Reeves Brothers Mfg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennie Marie Kimbrell, and a son, Terry Lee Hill.
Surviving are a daughter, Wanda Ann Greer of Chesnee; two sons, Rickey Reid Hill and Mike R. Hill, both of Chesnee; a sister, Linda H. Henderson of Chesnee; three brothers, John T. Henderson of Inman, Sammy Henderson of Joanna, and the Rev. Joe Henderson of Chesnee; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at Springhill Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Revs. Darrell Revels and Kenneth Rice.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 at Eggers Funeral Home in Chesnee and at other times they will be at the residence.

Joe D. Blanton
Cherokee County native
CHESNEE – Joe Dean Blanton, 67, of 1420 Piedmont Road, died Nov. 16, 2004, at his home.
A native of Cherokee County, he was the widower of Evangeline Green Blanton and son of the late Nettie Mae Cash Blanton and Jonas Burgin Blanton. He was a member of Piedmont Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon, church treasurer and member of the grounds committee and Faithful Sunday School Class and an employee of Davis Heating and Air Conditioning.
Surviving are a daughter, Pam Mosley of Chesnee; a son, Michael Blanton of Chesnee; a brother, Mason Blanton of New Hampshire; a granddaughter; Nicole Mosley of Chesnee; an aunt, Edna Wagner of Chesnee; and a faithful canine companion, Toby.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Piedmont Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Darrell Revels, Jack Weaver and Larry Fleming. Burial will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-9 at Eggers Funeral Home in Chesnee and at other times they will be at 1368 Piedmont Road, Chesnee.
Ricky E. Dover
Former Gaffney Mfg. employee
Ricky Eugene Dover, 47, of 618 Broad St., died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Born in Gaffney, he was a son of the late Sandy and Grace Elmore Dover and a 1975 graduate of Gaffney High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran and former employee of Limestone Manufacturing Co.
Surviving are three brothers, James Edward Dover, Bobby Joe Dover and Michael Dover of Gaffney; three sisters, Mary Dover, Ruth Dover and Sandra Mitchem of Gaffney; and four aunts, Sarah Davidson, Laura Rankin, both of Gaffney, Edith Tracey and Mozelle Dwkins, both of Cowpens.
The family is at the home of a niece, Diedra Dover, 303 Sarratt St.

Richard Clearwater
Licensed millwright
Richard Brian Clearwater, 56, of Old Ford Road, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, he was the son of the late Howard Herbert and Eleanor Redden Clearwater. He was a licensed millwright and a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Surviving are sons, Donald Clearwater of Ottawa, Ontario, Jon-Emery Clearwater of Gaffney and Tom Nash of Whitby, Ontario; daughters, Kristina Clearwater of Whitby, Ontario, and Leaann Clearwater Taylor of Oshawa, Ontario; brothers, Russell Clearwater, Jimmy Clearwater and Wayne Clearwater, all of Canada; sisters, Carol C. Orsava and Evangeline C. Orsava, both of Toronto; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held at a later date in Canada.

Herbert "Pop" Taber
Retired from Milliken
Herbert William "Pop" Taber, 72, of 135 Anthony St., died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, at his residence.
A native of Spartanburg, he was the husband of Thelma Blanchard Taber and son of the late Arthur Taber and the late Marie Keenan Taber. He was a retired employee of Milliken & Company, Blacksburg Plant, and was a member of Cherokee Gospel Tabernacle. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a loving husband and father.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Kathy Carter and Teresa Rose, both of Gaffney; five sons, Richard Taber, Dennis Coleman, Rickey Coleman, Bob Coleman and Robert Coleman, all of Gaffney; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a number of niece and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Cherokee Gospel Tabernacle, conducted by the Revs. Betty Gentry and Gayland Garner. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Michael Shane Allen, Dennis Rose, Mark Coleman, "Sunny Boy" Lydia, Leon White and Timothy Whisenant.
Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Coleman and Kevin Coleman.

BLACKSBURG – Services for James H. (Shortie) Covington, 71, of 220 Martin Hill Road, husband of Nellie Hopper Covington, will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Youngs Grove Baptist Church, conducted by Drs. Larry J. Brooks, J.W. Sanders Sr., Michael A. Bridges, U.D. Vernon and the Revs. George Kirby Sr. and Ruby Miller. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
Pallbearers will be the deacons and trustees of Youngs Grove Baptist Church and flower bearers will be the church's Senior Missionary.
Honorary flower bearers will be members of the U.D. Vernon Choir of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.
