DARLINGTON — Funeral services for Minister Horace W. Graham Sr. were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, the Rev. Bobby Miller, pastor, with Bishop Robert Ham officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, directed by Mitchell–Josey Funeral Home.
Minister Graham died Monday, Feb. 10, at his residence after a long illness. He was born in Darlington County, a son of the late Willie and Estella Brown Graham. He was educated in Darlington County public schools and was a retired farmer. At an early age, he joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He became an ordained minister at Pentecostal Holiness Church of God in 1978 and later assistant minister of Westside Temple Church in Darlington.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Johnson Graham of the home; two daughters, Daisy Mae Graham of the home and Rosa Mae Graham Scipio (Joseph deceased) of Darlington; two sons, Horace (Patricia) Graham Jr. of McBee and Wilbur (Diane) Graham of Gresham; two sisters, Mrs. P. Ruth Roberson of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Mrs. Emman Helen George Rollins of Mount Clair, N.J.; four grandchildren, Michelle Mathis, Debroah Felder, Cindy Barr and Craig Graham; six great–grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A son, Otis Graham, preceded him in death.
PAULINE T. GAINEY
DARLINGTON — A graveside service for Pauline Tyner Gainey, 79, was held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, in Grove Hill cemetery, conducted by Pastor Frankie Tanner and Chaplain Virginia Swaggard and directed by Kistler–Hardee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gainey died Monday, Feb. 10, in a local nursing home after an illness. She was born in Darlington, a daughter of the late William Thomas and Emma Hunter Tyner. She was predeceased in 1961 by her husband, Wallace McCall Gainey.
Survivors include one daughter, Paula Siple of Darlington; three brothers, Thomas Tyner, L. H. Tyner, and Dennis Tyner, all of Hartsville; two sisters, Emma Jane Atkinson of Darlington and Betty Adams of Hartsville; and four grandchildren.
IKE McCOLLOUGH
Funeral services for Ike Big Ike McCollough, 32, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, in Butler Gym with the Rev. J. D. Blue officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.
Mr. McCollough died Monday, Feb. 10, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center. He was born in Darlington County, a son of Isaac and Winnie Blakney McCollough. He graduated from Hartsville High School class of 1988 and was employed with A.O. Smith for 12 1/2 years.
Surviving other than his mother of Hartsville and father of Bishopville are his wife, Sharin A. Horton McCollough of Hartsville; three daughters, Shakeya R. McCollough of Darlington, Jakayla B. McCollough and Ikia B. McCollough, both of the home; one son, Ike McCollough III of the home; two sisters, Melissa Price and Usheka (Robert) Washington, both of Hartsville; and one brother, Johnny (Teika) McCollough of Hartsville.
RUTH ROBINSON
Funeral services for Ruth Robinson, 88, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, in Ebenezer United Methodist Church with burial in Greenlawn cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.
Mrs. Robinson died Friday, Feb. 7, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center. She was born in Lee County, a daughter of the late Robert and Susannah Rogers Holmes. She received her education in the public schools of Lee County. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, treasurer of the Woman Society of Christian Services and retired from Washington Street School.
Surviving are her children, Ara Lee (Codell Hickman) and Wilberetta Robinson of Baltimore, Md., Rosanna (Calvin Moses) , Jerry Eugene Robinson of Hartsville, (Elease) of Paterson, N.J., and Wilbert Leon Robinson (Bernadette) of Baltimore, Md; sons–in–law, Winard Bradley (Glenda) of Myrtle Beach and Henry Lee Price (Olivia) of Hartsville; daughters–in–law, Jean Capehart Robinson (Abraham) of New York and Martha Cain (Kenneth) of Hartsville; special nephew, George Alex Robinson of New York; special grandchildren, Ronald Price and Calvondea Moses of Hartsville; four sisters, Edith Bullock of Washington, D.C., Eular Lee (James Chavis) of Baltimore, Md., Annie Mae (Burch Alford) of Hampton, Va., and Gwendolyn Banks of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Isaiah (Minnie) Holmes and Robert Lee Holmes (Bertina) of Baltimore, Md.; 33 grandchildren; 44 great–grandchildren; two great–great–grandchildren; special sister, Vivivan Jacobs of Hartsville; godson, Bosie Wingate of Hartsville; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
JIM DeWITT
DARLINGTON — Graveside services for James Rabb Jim DeWitt, 50, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at Darlington Memory Gardens, directed by Kistler–Hardee Funeral Home of Darlington.
Mr. DeWitt died Monday, Feb. 10. He was born in Darlington County, a son of Elizabeth Tootsie DeWitt Galloway and the late Schley DeWitt.
Mr. DeWitt was a life long resident of Darlington. He and his wife Donna operated Quality Flower Shop in Darlington. He was a bookeeper and office manager. However, every chance he got he would get out of the office to make deliveries. He enjoyed seeing the smiles the flowers brought others. He also loved to tinker with old cars and loved all kinds of racing. He was a good son, good brother, good friend and a good husband. We will all miss him.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Norwood DeWitt of the home; his mother and step–father, Elizabeth Tootsie and Raymond Galloway of Darlington; two brothers, Winfield Schley Wink (Debbie) DeWitt of Florence and Charles Thomas Tom (Dorothy) DeWitt of Hilton Head; one sister, Elizabeth D. Betsy (David) Forrest of Victoria, Texas. Mr. DeWitt is also survived by his step–brother, Ray (Janis) Galloway and a step–sister, Emily (Kem) Lunn, of Darlington.

DARLINGTON — Funeral services for Jerome Buck Strickland, 54, were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Calvary Baptist Church with interment following in Grove Hill cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Mr. Strickland died Monday, Feb. 10. He was born in Darlington County, a son of the late Hilton and Geneva Dixon Strickland. He was a member of the S.C. Bass Association, Handy Man Association, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Strickland served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Surviving are his wife, Frances G. Strickland; a son, Jerome B.J. Strickland Jr. of Darlington; two daughters, Crystal Strickland and Denise Strickland Hinson, both of Darlington; a step–daughter, Jenny Coburn of West Virginia; two grandchildren, Sebastian Snipes and Erica Kirk; two sisters, Valerie Blackwell and Virginia Truett, both of Darlington.
GLADYS F. HAYWARD
DARLINGTON — Funeral services for Gladys Floyd Boseman Hayward will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 14, 2003, at First Original Free Will Baptist Church, with interment following in Grove Hill cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hayward died Tuesday, Feb. 11. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Charlie and Estelle Rhodes Floyd. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. and a member of First Original Free Will Baptist Church, where she was involved in the Women's Auxiliary.
Surviving are three daughters, Maybelle (Bob) Brooks of Greensboro, N.C., Anne Boseman Truett of Darlington and Connie (Jimmy) Griggs of Hartsville; two sons, James H. (Faye) Boseman of Charlotte, N.C., and Ralph E. (Marian) Boseman of Summerton; two sisters, Lucille Hatchell of Darlington and Mary Roscoe of Hartsville; two brothers, Clifton Pal Floyd of Darlington and George Floyd of Columbia; also eight grandchildren and nine great–grandchildren.

DIANNE Z. FOX
DARLINGTON — Funeral services for Dianne Zimmerman Fox, 48, will be held at 2 pm. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, in Center Baptist Church with the Rev. Jackie Boyd, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Hart #2 cemetery, directed by Mitchell–Josey Funeral Home.
Mrs. Fox died Sunday, Feb. 9. in a Florence hospital after a brief illness. She recieved her education in the Darlington County public schools. She was a member of Center Baptist Church. She spent all of her life in Darlington County where she was a housewife and homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Odell Fox Sr. of the home; two daughters, Tammy (Johnathan) Moses and Vanessa E. Fox, both of Darlington; two sons, Odell Fox Jr. of Florence and Donnie (Marchell) Fox of Hawaii; five nieces and nephews she reared as her own, Angie Fox of Virginia, Patrick Fox and wife of Korea, Dennis Fox of Virginia, Paul (Ellen) Fox of Hartsville and Marvin Fox, who preceded her in death; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Mae Frances (George) Rogers of Darlington and Martha Ann Gee (Claude Scott) of Lamar; one brother, Ronald Mark Zimmerman (Michelle) of Lydia; aunts; uncles; nieces, nephews and in–laws.JANNIE L. Funeral services for Jannie Louise Bennett were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, in the Gilbert Hines Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Greenlawn cemetery, with professional services directed by Hines Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bennett died Friday, Feb. 7, at Providence Hospital in Columbia. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Eddie and Susanne Andrews. She was educated in the Spartanburg Institute for the Deaf and Blind.
Surviving are two sons, Evans (Deborah) Bennett of Hartsville and Leroy Bennett of Bennettsvile; one grandson, Jason Capers of Hartsville; and a sister, Ida Smith of Hartsville.
ANNER P. THOMPSON
DARLINGTON — Graveside services for Anner Pressley Thompson, 82, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, in Laurelwood cemetery, Rock Hill, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Mrs. Thompson died Tuesday, Feb. 11. She was born in Lancaster County, a daughter of the late John E. and Nettie Blanche Wright Pressley. She was a charter member of the Rebekah Lodge No. 17, in York, S.C., member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary of Darlington and a member of Mont Clare Baptist Church, where she was a member of The Seekers of the Church, the Friendship Club and Bible study group.
Surviving are a stepson, Donald Lynn (Joyce) Thompson; three step–grandchildren, Donald (Carole) Thompson of Timmonsville, Patricia Sorensen and Linda Thompson, both of Darlington; three step–great–grandchildren and one step–great–great–grandchild.
Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Lynn Thompson.

DILLON C. ADAMS
Funeral services for Dillon C. Adams, 66, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church cemetery near Pageland at 1 p.m., directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service today at the church.
Mr. Adams died Wednesday, Feb. 12. He was born in Lancaster County, a son of the late Henry Bob and Laura Ellen Mills Adams. He was owner of Pioneer Chemical Co. and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Michael D. Adams of Hartsville; a brother, John H. Adams of Lancaster; four sisters, Sara Jackson, Lola Mae Bigham, both of Lancaster, Ann Harkey of Fort Lawn, Mary Hancock of Rock Hill; and two grandchildren, Michael L. Adams and Tisha Jones, both of Hartsville.
GEORGIA ETHERIDGE
Funeral services for Georgia Ketter (Sook) Etheridge were held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Jerusalem Baptist Church. Burial was in Greenlawn cemetery, directed by Hines Funeral Home.
Mrs. Etheridge was a daughter of the late Martin and Metta Franklin Ketter. She was educated in the public schools of Darlington County. At an early age, she was converted to Christian living and joined Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. H. H. Butler. She was a faithful member and served her church in many capacities until her health failed. She was also a member of the OES, Mt. Rona Chapter No. 233.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Daisy E. (Robert) Denmark, and one grandson, Oyama Denmark, both of Darlington; two brothers, Housten (Helen) Ketter and Charlie Ketter, both of New York, N.Y.; two great–grandchildren and a special nephew, Reggie Ketter; and a host of other very close relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Allean Dowdy, 66, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, in Harold L. & Dorothy J. Young Memorial Chapel with Bishop R. O. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Cherry Grove Baptist Church cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 909 Mondora Street and 615 Birchleaf Drive in Hartsville.
Mrs. Dowdy died Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Carnell and Willie Mae Rhodes Coe. She received her education at Cherry Grove School and Butler High School. Mrs. Dowdy attended Cherry Grove Baptist Church and was a member of Household of Faith Holiness Church, Usher Board, Missionary Board and the Mother's Choir.
Surviving are her husband, Howard Dowdy of Hartsville; two daughters, Margaret Ann (Paul) Ratliff of Hartsville and Martha Coe of Myrtle Beach; a granddaughter, Sandra (Chris) Hickman of Hartsville; eight sisters, Margaret Coe, Florrie Thomas (William) Lighty, Queen Ester Coe and Willie Mae (Donald) Daniels, all of Hartsville, Laura Mae McQueen of Wadesboro, N.C., Martha Lee Moore of Detroit, Mich., Peggy (Jerome) Brown of Newport News, Va., and Ellen (Frankie) Smith of Washington, D.C.; three brothers, James (Shirley) Coe of Bridgeport, Conn., David (Sahara) Coe of Arlington, Va., and Carnell (Sabrina) Coe Jr. of Decatur, Ga.; aunts, uncles and other close relatives and friends.
