Funeral services for Ike Big Ike McCollough, 32, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, in Butler Gym with the Rev. J. D. Blue officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.
Mr. McCollough died Monday, Feb. 10, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center. He was born in Darlington County, a son of Isaac and Winnie Blakney McCollough. He graduated from Hartsville High School class of 1988 and was employed with A.O. Smith for 12 1/2 years.
Surviving other than his mother of Hartsville and father of Bishopville are his wife, Sharin A. Horton McCollough of Hartsville; three daughters, Shakeya R. McCollough of Darlington, Jakayla B. McCollough and Ikia B. McCollough, both of the home; one son, Ike McCollough III of the home; two sisters, Melissa Price and Usheka (Robert) Washington, both of Hartsville; and one brother, Johnny (Teika) McCollough of Hartsville.
RUTH ROBINSON
Funeral services for Ruth Robinson, 88, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, in Ebenezer United Methodist Church with burial in Greenlawn cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.
Mrs. Robinson died Friday, Feb. 7, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center. She was born in Lee County, a daughter of the late Robert and Susannah Rogers Holmes. She received her education in the public schools of Lee County. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, treasurer of the Woman Society of Christian Services and retired from Washington Street School.
Surviving are her children, Ara Lee (Codell Hickman) and Wilberetta Robinson of Baltimore, Md., Rosanna (Calvin Moses) , Jerry Eugene Robinson of Hartsville, (Elease) of Paterson, N.J., and Wilbert Leon Robinson (Bernadette) of Baltimore, Md; sons–in–law, Winard Bradley (Glenda) of Myrtle Beach and Henry Lee Price (Olivia) of Hartsville; daughters–in–law, Jean Capehart Robinson (Abraham) of New York and Martha Cain (Kenneth) of Hartsville; special nephew, George Alex Robinson of New York; special grandchildren, Ronald Price and Calvondea Moses of Hartsville; four sisters, Edith Bullock of Washington, D.C., Eular Lee (James Chavis) of Baltimore, Md., Annie Mae (Burch Alford) of Hampton, Va., and Gwendolyn Banks of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Isaiah (Minnie) Holmes and Robert Lee Holmes (Bertina) of Baltimore, Md.; 33 grandchildren; 44 great–grandchildren; two great–great–grandchildren; special sister, Vivivan Jacobs of Hartsville; godson, Bosie Wingate of Hartsville; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
JIM DeWITT
DARLINGTON — Graveside services for James Rabb Jim DeWitt, 50, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at Darlington Memory Gardens, directed by Kistler–Hardee Funeral Home of Darlington.
Mr. DeWitt died Monday, Feb. 10. He was born in Darlington County, a son of Elizabeth Tootsie DeWitt Galloway and the late Schley DeWitt.
Mr. DeWitt was a life long resident of Darlington. He and his wife Donna operated Quality Flower Shop in Darlington. He was a bookeeper and office manager. However, every chance he got he would get out of the office to make deliveries. He enjoyed seeing the smiles the flowers brought others. He also loved to tinker with old cars and loved all kinds of racing. He was a good son, good brother, good friend and a good husband. We will all miss him.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Norwood DeWitt of the home; his mother and step–father, Elizabeth Tootsie and Raymond Galloway of Darlington; two brothers, Winfield Schley Wink (Debbie) DeWitt of Florence and Charles Thomas Tom (Dorothy) DeWitt of Hilton Head; one sister, Elizabeth D. Betsy (David) Forrest of Victoria, Texas. Mr. DeWitt is also survived by his step–brother, Ray (Janis) Galloway and a step–sister, Emily (Kem) Lunn, of Darlington.

JEROME STRICKLAND
DARLINGTON — Funeral services for Jerome Buck Strickland, 54, were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Calvary Baptist Church with interment following in Grove Hill cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Mr. Strickland died Monday, Feb. 10. He was born in Darlington County, a son of the late Hilton and Geneva Dixon Strickland. He was a member of the S.C. Bass Association, Handy Man Association, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Strickland served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Surviving are his wife, Frances G. Strickland; a son, Jerome B.J. Strickland Jr. of Darlington; two daughters, Crystal Strickland and Denise Strickland Hinson, both of Darlington; a step–daughter, Jenny Coburn of West Virginia; two grandchildren, Sebastian Snipes and Erica Kirk; two sisters, Valerie Blackwell and Virginia Truett, both of Darlington.
GLADYS F. HAYWARD
DARLINGTON — Funeral services for Gladys Floyd Boseman Hayward will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 14, 2003, at First Original Free Will Baptist Church, with interment following in Grove Hill cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hayward died Tuesday, Feb. 11. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Charlie and Estelle Rhodes Floyd. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. and a member of First Original Free Will Baptist Church, where she was involved in the Women's Auxiliary.
Surviving are three daughters, Maybelle (Bob) Brooks of Greensboro, N.C., Anne Boseman Truett of Darlington and Connie (Jimmy) Griggs of Hartsville; two sons, James H. (Faye) Boseman of Charlotte, N.C., and Ralph E. (Marian) Boseman of Summerton; two sisters, Lucille Hatchell of Darlington and Mary Roscoe of Hartsville; two brothers, Clifton Pal Floyd of Darlington and George Floyd of Columbia; also eight grandchildren and nine great–grandchildren.

DIANNE Z. FOX
DARLINGTON — Funeral services for Dianne Zimmerman Fox, 48, will be held at 2 pm. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, in Center Baptist Church with the Rev. Jackie Boyd, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Hart #2 cemetery, directed by Mitchell–Josey Funeral Home.
Mrs. Fox died Sunday, Feb. 9. in a Florence hospital after a brief illness. She recieved her education in the Darlington County public schools. She was a member of Center Baptist Church. She spent all of her life in Darlington County where she was a housewife and homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Odell Fox Sr. of the home; two daughters, Tammy (Johnathan) Moses and Vanessa E. Fox, both of Darlington; two sons, Odell Fox Jr. of Florence and Donnie (Marchell) Fox of Hawaii; five nieces and nephews she reared as her own, Angie Fox of Virginia, Patrick Fox and wife of Korea, Dennis Fox of Virginia, Paul (Ellen) Fox of Hartsville and Marvin Fox, who preceded her in death; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Mae Frances (George) Rogers of Darlington and Martha Ann Gee (Claude Scott) of Lamar; one brother, Ronald Mark Zimmerman (Michelle) of Lydia; aunts; uncles; nieces, nephews and in–laws.
MARY GROOMS
SOCIETY HILL — Funeral services for Mary Joyce Buck Parker Grooms, 64, were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, in Mt. Olivet Church in Patrick with interment following in the church cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Ms. Grooms died Sunday, Feb. 16, in a Hartsville hospital. She as born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late George Parker and Mary Johnson Parker Purvis. She retired two years ago as an inspector with Galey and Lord. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Wallace.
Surviving are three sisters, Virginia Parker Hicks and Retha Parker Chapman both of Society Hill, and Patricia Purvis Coleman of Cheraw; five brothers, George Parker, Piper Parker, Robbie Purvis and Bobbie Purvis, all of Society Hill, and Joel Purvis of Cheraw.
CARL W. COPELAND
LAMAR — Funeral services for Carl William Copeland, 76, will be held at 3 p.m. today, Feb. 19, 2003, in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home, Lamar. Interment will follow in Lamar cemetery.
Mr. Copeland died Monday, Feb. 17, in a Florence hospital. He was born in Miami, Fla., a son of the late George and Pattye Wall Copeland. He was a graduate of Timmonsville High School and Florence Business College. He served his country with the United States Army. Mr. Copeland was a bookkeeper, member of Timmonsville Baptist Church and attended Lamar United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby F. Copeland of Lamar; one son, David (Charlene) Copeland of Lamar; two daughters, Rose (E.C.) Stevens and Martha Ann (Wayne) Grooms, both of Lamar; grandchildren, Brandon and Rachel Stevens, Eric and Amy Grooms and Carly Copeland; and one brother, Marshall Copeland of Columbia, Md.
Mr. Copeland was preceded in death by a son, Barry Lewis Copeland, and brothers, Ralph and Arthur Copeland.

NICKEY HOFFMAN SR.
Funeral services for Nickey Kenneth Hoffman Sr., 57, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Middendorf Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery, directed by Norton Funeral Home. The Rev. Hazel Mixon and Rev. Ed Griggs officiated.
Mr. Hoffman died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003. He was born in Chesterfield County, the son of the late LaCoaste and Cora Jones Hoffman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was a chemical demolition specialist. He was a former project manager for Daniels Construction and previous owner of Nickey Hoffman Drywall and Construction. He was a member of Middendorf Baptist Church, Hartsville Moose Lodge and the Hartsville Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are one son, Nickey Kenneth Hoffman Jr. of Columbia; one granddaughter, Meri Bridges Hoffman of Columbia; three sisters, Carolyn Walters of Camden, Judy Hoffman of Hartsville and Miriam Jean Bailey of Florence.
He was predeceased by a sister, Eunice Hoffman Kissiah, a brother, Bobby Loraine Hoffman Sr., and a nephew, Tony Len Hopkins.

Pallbearers were Shannon LaCoaste Newsome, David Hugh Jeffords, George Everett Newsome III, Benjamin Hoffman, Bobby Loraine Hoffman Jr., Donnie Joe Walters and Billy Alvin Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Sidney Loraine Kissiah and Earle Jones.
MARION C. HUTCHINSON
GARDEN CITY — A memorial service for Marion Clayton Hutchinson, 75, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 19, 2003, at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
Mr. Hutchinson died Sunday, Feb. 16, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. He was born June 14, 1927, in Darlington County, the son of the late Marion and Isabelle Sinclair Hutchinson. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran serving in WWII. Mr. Hutchinson was a member of the Omar Temple of the Shrine and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Hartsville.
Mr. Hutchinson was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Jane Hutchinson.
Survivors include his wife, Renetta Hutchinson; one daughter, Chasity Hutchinson of Garden City; and two step–sons, Larry D. Tanner of Hartsville and Roger W. Tanner of Ashville, N.C.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to The Children's Shriners Hospital, 950 West Farris, Greenville, SC 29605.

VIOLA H. MITCHELL
DARLINGTON — Funeral services for Viola Wheeler Hicks Mitchell were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Timmonsville, with the Rev. Solomon Eaddy Sr., pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Church cemetery, directed by Mitchell–Josey Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mitchell died Tuesday, Feb. 11, in a Florence hospital after an extended illness. She was born in Lee County, a daughter of the late Zimmer and Hattie Wheeler. She received her formal education in the Lee County public schools and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and child care provider for Trinity United Methodist Church in Darlington. She was married
twice, first to the late Joseph Hicks and to this union seven children were born; three daughters preceded her in death, Joberta Stucky, Helen and Katherine Hicks. Later she was married
to the late Bosey Mitchell.
Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Robinson of the home and Mildred Hicks of Darlington; two sons, Michael Dennis (Denise) Hicks of Darlington and Joseph Hicks Jr. of Lakeworth, Fla.; a sister, Jannie Mae (Joseph) Keith of Darlington; 25 grandchildren; 31 great–grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
KRYSTAL LACI ROGERS
DARLINGTON — Krystal Laci Rogers, infant daughter of Jerry and Renee Owens Rogers, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Anderson–Mathews cemetery in Coward, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Surviving in addition to her parents are two brothers, Chris Rogers and Jerry Rogers Jr.; grandparents, Gene and LaRue Rogers of Darlington and Carolyn Owens of Inverness, Fla.
DAWSON J. WILKES
DARLINGTON — Funeral services for Dawson Jordan Wilkes, 86, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at First Baptist Church with interment following in Lamar cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Mr. Wilkes died Wednesday, Feb. 12, at his home. He was born in Darlington County, son of the late Tilmon Earl and Mamie Jordan Wilkes. He was married
to the late Ila Mae Brown Wilkes, his wife of 63 years. He served his country with the United States Army, the Navy and the Army Reserve. Mr. Wilkes retired after 36 years as an engineer with the S.C. Department of Transportation. He was a member of the VFW, the Vance Hardin Sunday School Class and member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his son, the Rev. Larry W. (Christine) Wilkes of Edna, Kan.; five grandchildren, three great–grandchildren; two brothers, Dillon Wilkes of Timmonsville, and Exley Wilkes of Lamar; also his sister, Mrs. Ted Zelda Witherspoon of Lamar.
GENE JOHNSON
Funeral services for Gene Autry Johnson, 66, were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at North Hartsville Baptist Church with the Rev. Ladell Humphries and the Rev. Dr. Richard Bailey officiating. Burial followed in Westview Memorial Park cemetery directed by Brown–Pennington–Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the North Hartsville Baptist Church, 1117 Patrick Highway, Hartsville, SC 29550 or Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves, Florence, SC 29506.
Mr. Johnson died Saturday, Feb. 15. Born in Hartsville, he was a son of Myrtle Gandy Johnson and the late John A. Johnson. He was a member of North Hartsville Baptist Church, the church choir, Bill Baxley Sunday School class, and previously was a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was employed with Perfection Gear for 20 years and was retired from Darlington County Schools Maintenance Department. He was a longtime Little League baseball coach and also coached and refereed basketball. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Byrd.
Surviving are his wife, Mary McDonald Johnson of Hartsville; sons, Woody Johnson of Union, Daniel Johnson of Hartsville; daughters and sons–in–law, Wendy and Kenny Howle, Donna and Boyce Howle, Tonya and Lawrence Hawkins, all of Hartsville; mother of Hartsville; sisters, Jonnie Lou Parker and Jackie Teal, both of Hartsville; and grandchildren, Casey Johnson, Trent Johnson, Jerry Howle, Josh Howle, Amanda Howle, Kenneth Howle, Courtney Hawkins, Jessie Hawkins and Tate Hawkins.
