THOMAS F. MULDROW

DARLINGTON — A graveside service for Thomas Francis Muldrow, 52, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004, in Grove Hill cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Timothy Rogers and directed by Kistler–Hardee Funeral Home.

Mr. Muldrow died Thursday, April 22, in a Florence hospital after an illness. He was born in Florence County, a son of the late Harry W. and Kathryn Smith Muldrow. He graduated from St. John's High School in 1970. He continued his education and graduated from Francis Marion College and Florence–Darlington Technical College. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and worked for Midland Manufacturing Co. in Columbia for many years.

Survivors include one brother, Harry W. (Suzanne) Muldrow; one sister, Kathryn Lee Muldrow, both of Darlington; also his childhood and lifelong friend, Marshall Davis of Lamar.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening, April 23, from 6 to 8.

Memorials may be made to the McLeod Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves St., Florence, SC 29506.

ROBERT WISNIEWSKI

SOCIETY HILL — Mass of Christian burial for Robert Bernard Wisniewski, 66, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hartsville, Father Karl Roesch, Celebrant. Final commendation and farewell prayers will be in Welsh Neck Baptist Church cemetery. Brown–Pennington–Atkins Funeral Home is in charge. The family will receive friends today, April 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association BTC 009, 181 East Evans St. Suite 206, Florence, SC 29506.

Mr. Wisniewski died Wednesday, April 21, 2004. Born in Baltimore, Md., he was a son of the late Henry and Henrietta Louise Kiesling Wisniewski. He was retired from Just Manufacturing.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Hill Wisniewski of Society Hill; sons, Robert Wisniewski, Jr. of Prophetstown, Ill., Henry–Hill Wisniewski of New Lenox, Ill.; daughters, Cheryl Jackson of New Lenox, Ill., Kelly Wisniewski of Shell Lake, Wis.; sister, Bonnie Boehm of Severn, Md.; brothers, Wayne Wieniewski of Severn, Md., Gary Wisniewski of Stevensville, Md.; grandchildren, Cheryl Anne Wisniewski and Anthony Wisniewski.

JAMES H. IRBY SR.

Funeral services for James H. Irby Sr., 73, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Colboch officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia cemetery, directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be this evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Irby, widow of Kathryn Williamson Irby, died Thursday, April 22. He was born in Darlington County, a son of the late James F. and Martha McGee Irby. He was retired from Sonoco Products Co., a member of the Old Timers Club, Emmanuel Baptist Church, Living Hope Sunday School Class and was a dedicated Clemson fan.

Surviving are a daughter, Kathy (Robert III) Lee of Hartsville; son, Dr. James H. (Jimmy) Irby of Anderson; two sisters, Pete Lewis and Mary Lewis of Florence; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Jay, Lebert and Aldridge Irby and a sister, Theo Smith.

Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 949 North Marquis Hwy., Hartsville, SC 29550.

JESSIE CAMPBELL

Jessie Campbell, 84, died Thursday, April 22, 2004, at his residence after an illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Young & Young Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 316 Tillison Ave., Hartsville.

RUDELL K. BRITT

DARLINGTON — Funeral services for Rudell Kinsey Britt, 85, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at Darlington First Pentecostal Holiness Church, directed by Kistler–Hardee Funeral Home with burial in Grove Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Britt died Sunday, April 18. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Clarence and Irene Evans Kinsey. She was the oldest member of the Darlington First Pentecostal Holiness Church and a member of the Fellowship Bible Class. Mrs. Britt retired from Nytronics of Darlington. She enjoyed listening to gospel music and going to the beach.

Survivors include one son, Tommy Britt of Darlington; one daughter, Cathy B. Kemmerlin of Darlington; and two grandchildren, Angel Kemmerlin of Myrtle Beach and Austin Kemmerlin of Darlington.

Memorials may be made to the McLeod Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves St., Florence, SC 29506.

DAVID BROWN

Funeral services for David Ray Brown, 58, will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 21, 2004, at the Brown–Pennington–Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ed Griggs will officiate with burial in Magnolia cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves St., Florence, SC 29506.

Mr. Brown died Sunday, April 18. Born in Hartsville, he was a son of the late Wil Raymond and Bessie Lee Shaw Brown. He served in the U.S. Army and was a graduate of Francis Marion University. He was employed with Fluor International for 28 years and loved playing golf.

Surviving are his wife, Marta Gaye Gilbert Brown of Hartsville; son and daughter–in–law, David Ray and Tracy Ann Brown of Greenville; daughters and son–in–law, Tonya Rae Brown and Shannon and Terry Hutson, all of Hartsville; grandchildren, Sadie May Brown, Harper Lee Hutson and William Casey Hutson.

CARRIE PEOPLES

LAMAR — Mrs. Carrie Peoples died Sunday, April 18, 2004, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Hines Funeral Home, Inc., of Lamar. The family is receiving friends at the residence at 50 Honeysuckle Drive, Lamar.

KATHRYN CROSBY

DARLINGTON — Graveside funeral services for Kathryn Kat Folsom Crosby, 88, were held Monday, April 19, 2004, at 2 p.m. in Grove Hill cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Mrs. Crosby died Saturday, April 17, 2004. She was born in Darlington County, daughter of the late Stephen Wallace and Estelle Strange Folsom. She was married to the late Stephen Weldon Crosby. She was a retired bookkeeper with Coleman–Aimar Hospital. Mrs. Crosby was a member of First Baptist Church where she served as superintendent of the Junior Department for 20 years. She taught the G. A.'s for 15 years and Vacation Bible School for many years. She was also a member of the Kay Hobbs circle and served on the council of Young at Heart.

Surviving are her son and daughter–in–law, Steve and Linda Crosby of Darlington and daughter and son–in–law, Jane and Loyde Roberts of Charlotte, N.C.; also, her grandchildren: Beth Odom, Michael Crosby, Brian Glock and Will Roberts; five great–grandchildren, five nieces and one nephew.

FRANK DARGAN

LAMAR — Frank J. Dargan died on Saturday, April 17, 2004, at Carolinas Hospital System in Florence. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Hines Funeral Home, Inc., of Lamar. The Dargan Family will receive friends at the residence at 756 Lee State Park Road.

CHARLES NICHOLS SR.

DARLINGTON — Funeral services for Charles Morris Nichols Sr., 56, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at Victory Baptist Church. Burial followed in Grove Hill cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Mr. Nichols died Sunday, April 18, in a Florence hospital. He was born in Mooresville, N.C., the son of the late Challie Isaac and Pearl Duncan Nichols. He had been employed by Nucor Steel for 17 years. Mr. Nichols was a loving father and attended Victory Baptist Church.

Surviving are his son, Jeff (Brandi) Nichols of Darlington and his daughter, Marlene (Charles) Larrimore of Rockingham, N.C.; three grandchildren, Tammy Nicole Nichols, Jeffrey Nichols Jr. and Gracelyn Nichols; four brothers, Royce, Thomas, Larry and Bobby Nichols of Mooresville, N.C.; and two sisters, Irene Hamby and Cathy Helms also of Mooresville.

Mr. Nichols was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Irene Nichols, a son, Charles Nichols Jr., and daughter, Tammy Lynn Nichols.

CLYDE GAINEY

Funeral services for Clyde Wesley Gainey, 79, will be held at 4 p.m. today, April 21, 2004, at North Hartsville Baptist Church. The Rev. Ladell Humphries, the Rev. Dr. Richard Bailey, and the Rev. Grover Johnson will officiate with burial in Westview Memorial Park cemetery, directed by Brown–Pennington–Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the North Hartsville Baptist Church Senior Adult, 1117 Patrick Hwy., Hartsville, SC 29550.

Mr. Gainey died Monday, April 19, 2004. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of the late Tom W. and Bessie Stokes Gainey. He was a member of North Hartsville Baptist Church, a Navy and Marine veteran of World War II, retired from Chick–A–Ray Poultry with 50 years of service and an avid gardener.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Ethel Gainey of Hartsville; son and daughter–in–law, Tom and Shari Gainey of Carrollton, Ga.; grandchildren, Nick Gainey and Darby Gainey; sister, Lucile G. Chapman of Hartsville; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Gainey, and his sisters, Jessie Rucker, Gladys Hoffman, Miriam Lloyd and Thelma Amerson.

DONALD REED

DARLINGTON — Funeral services for Donald Ray Reed, 62, will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2004, at the Church of God of Prophecy, conducted by Pastor Bobby Steen. Burial will follow in Grove Hill cemetery, directed by Kistler–Hardee Funeral Home.

Mr. Reed died Monday, April 19, at his residence. He was born in Darlington County and was the son of the late Raleigh and Ruby Norton Reed. He retired from Pepsi after 28 years of service. Mr. Reed attended the Church of God of Prophecy. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Lee Ketelhut Reed, of the home; two sons, Chris (Sarah) Reed of Davidson, Mich., and Donny Reed of Darlington; and a granddaughter, Molly.

The family will receive friends at Kistler–Hardee Funeral Home tonight, April 21, from 6 to 8.

BEN PARVIN

SUMMERVILLE — A memorial service for family and friends of Benjamin Rood Parvin, 51, will be held in the Chapel of Brown–Pennington–Atkins Funeral Home, 306 W. Home Ave., Hartsville, on Saturday, April 24, 2004, at 2 p.m.

Mr. Parvin, a long–time resident of Hartsville, died Thursday, April 15, at his home. He grew up in Summerville in the late 1960s and early 1970s while his father was the pastor of the Summerville Presbyterian Church. He was a 1971 graduate of Summerville High School and attended Trident Technical College, where he received an associate degree in Nuclear Engineering Technology. He then began work at the Progress Energy (CP&L;) H. B. Robinson Nuclear Power Plant in Hartsville where he became a licensed senior reactor operator in 1985. He spent the next five years as a senior control operator on Robinson Unit 2. His last 14 years at the Robinson plant were as a simulator specialist in the Robinson Training Section and an operations training instructor.

Mr. Parvin is survived by his mother, Mildred C. Parvin, of Summerville; an older brother, Eldred C. Parvin and his wife, Ann, of Pineville, La.; two older sisters, Wilma P. Leary and husband Michael, of Swannanoa, N.C., and Rebecca P. Ganjehsani and husband Victor, of Fayetteville, N.C.; a younger brother, Clinton W. Parvin and wife Nancy, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; three nephews, two nieces, a grand–nephew and grand–niece.

GEORGE K. ROUSE SR.

DARLINGTON — Funeral services for George K. Rouse Sr., were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 19, 2004, in Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. E. B. Burroughs, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery, directed by Mitchell–Josey Funeral Home.

Mr. Rouse died Thursday, April 15, at his residence after an illness. He was born in Darlington County, a son of the late Archie and Beulah Muldrow Rouse. He received his formal education in Darlington County public schools. He was employed at Darlington Builder's Supply Co. until he retired. He was a member of Cherry Grove Baptist Church where he served faithfully on the Deacon Board, the Gospel Choir and the Male Chorus.

He was preceded in death by two children, a grandson and three brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Slater Rouse, of the home; four sons, Larry Rouse, George (Gail) Rouse, Ronald Rouse, all of Darlington, and Billy (Geneva) Rouse of Orangeburg; eight daughters, Gladys Flynn, Georgia Goodson, Gloria (Charles) Goodson, Beulah Samuel, Betty (Norris) Sims, Patricia (Lyndon) Rouse, Annie (Troy) Dudley, all of Darlington, and Ruden Cannon of Charlotte, N.C.; 23 grandchildren; 14 great–grandchildren; five sisters, Flora Lee of Hartsville, Queen Barrett, Annie Brown, Nancy (Jimmy) Mack, all of Darlington, and Beulah Mae Davis of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Abraham Rouse of Hartsville and James Rouse of Darlington; six sisters and seven brothers–in–law; nieces, nephews and cousins.
