Funeral services for Margaret Dickey Hunter, 60, were held Friday, July 30, 2004, at Kay Branch Missionary Baptist Church. Burial followed in New Hopewell Baptist Church cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hunter died Tuesday, July 27, at McLeod Health after an illness. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of Henry Dickey and the late Lugenia Bacote Cotton and was educated in the Darlington County public school system. She was also a member of Kay Branch Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, James Hunter of Hartsville; two daughters, Nancy (Leonard) Clayton of Raleigh, N.C, and O'Vivian (William) Burgess of Columbia; two sons, Travis Jerome Adams and Dennis Ivan Adams, both of Hartsville; her father, Henry Dickey of Hartsville; four grandchildren, Curtiss Clayton, Justin Coe, Alexandria Austin and Antoinette Burgess; five sisters, Hattie D. Samuels, Wanda Cotton, Loretta Cotton, Minetta Benjamin and Shirley Delaine; eight brothers, Roland Dickey, Charles Dickey and Paul Cotton; a goddaughter, Sharon Bishop; a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.

QUEENS, N.Y. — Samuel L. Wilson, formerly of Hartsville, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004. Arrangements will be announced by Young & Young Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 414 Society Ave., Hartsville.

Margaret Hunter, 60, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at McLeod Regional Medical Center after an illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Young & Young Funeral Home.

MINDY DUBOSE
LAMAR — Funeral services for Mindy Ericsson Dubose, 47, will be held at 11 a.m. today, July 30, 2004, in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home, Lamar, with interment in Lamar cemetery.
Mrs. Dubose died Friday, July 23. She was born in North Olmsted, Ohio, daughter of Lennard and Lynn Lockwood Ericsson. She was married
to the late James Dubose. She was a graduate of Baldwin–Wallace College in Ohio and received her master's degree from Francis Marion University. Mrs. Dubose was a retired school teacher and had taught in Darlington and Lee Counties. She had been organist for Lamar United Methodist Church and a member of the Master Works Choir. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Florence.
Surviving in addition to her mother and father of St. Petersburg, Fla., is a sister, Monica Ericsson, also of St. Petersburg.
Memorials are suggested to the Florence Humane Society, 1007 Stockade Drive, Florence, SC 29506.
JACKIE McKENZIE
PATRICK — Funeral services for Jackie McKenzie, 56, will be held at 3 p.m. today, July 30, 2004, at House of Praise with burial in Edwards Chapel Baptist Church cemetery, directed by Miller–Rivers–Caulder Funeral Home of Chesterfield.
Mr. McKenzie died Wednesday, July 28. He was born in Dillon, a son of the late Margaret McKenzie Tyler. He was a retired employee of Cheraw Yarn Mill and was a member of House of Praise. Mr. McKenzie was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Truett.
Survivors are his wife, Polly McKenzie of the home; three sons, Heath McKenzie and Jimmy Truett of the home and H. L. Truett of Patrick; five daughters, Tonya DeBerry, Sandy McKenzie, Elaine Starling and Betty Ingram, all of Hamlet, N.C., and Joann Lynn of Patrick; one twin brother, Frankie McKenzie of Wallace; one sister, Gail Childers of Rockingham, N.C.; 18 grandchildren and two great–grandchildren.
ANN FAGAN
Graveside services for Ann Quinn Fagan, 75, were held at 4 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2004, at Magnolia cemetery with the Revs. Ben Gafford and Dr. Jeri Parris Perkins officiating, directed by Brown–Pennington–Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 302 Dunlap Drive, Hartsville, SC 29550, or McLeod Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 East Cheves St., Florence, SC 29506.
Mrs. Fagan died Saturday, July 24. Born in Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late Spurgeon and Elsie Quinn. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. She was formerly employed with The People's Bank and presently was associated with Hartsville Furniture Company. She was affectionately known as Gan by her precious granddaughter.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Richard Fagan of Hartsville; son and daughter–in–law, Steve and Lisa Fagan of Hartsville; brother and sister–in–law, Charles and Evelyn Quinn of Pacolet; granddaughter, SaraAnn Fagan of Hartsville. She was preceded in death by her son Tommy Fagan.
DOROTHY M. HAMMONDS
Dorothy M. Hammonds, 67, died on Sunday, July 18, 2004, at Commander Nursing Home in Florence after an extended illness.
Funeral services were held at 11 p.m. Saturday, July 24, in Gilbert Hines Memorial Chapel. Burial followed in Greenlawn cemetery, directed by Hines Funeral Home Inc. of Hartsville.
Survivors include a sister, Naomi James of Hartsville; four nephews, the Rev. Wash (Brenda) James Jr. of Columbia, Min. Hazel (Nadine) James of Conyers, Ga., Jerome (Rena) James of Hartsville and Howard (Tena) James of Atlanta, Ga.; four daughters, Darline (Thomas) Parker of Lithonia, Ga., Patricia (Samuel) Rushing of West Palm Beach, Fla., Carolyn (Dennis) Horton of Raleigh, N.C., and Deborah (Ronnie) James of Jacksonville, N.C.
LEROY ROBINSON
Funeral services for Leroy Robinson, 72, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2004, in Gilbert Hines Memorial Chapel. Burial followed in Greenlawn cemetery, directed by Hines Funeral Home Inc. of Hartsville.
Mr. Robinson died Saturday, July 17, in Washington, D.C.
Survivors are two aunts, Polly Dewitt and Willie Mae Aaron, both of Hartsville.
EMODENE D. JOHNSON
DARLINGTON — Funeral services for Mrs. Emodene Davis Johnson were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2004, in the chapel of Kistler–Hardee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Johnson, widow of the late Malcolm K. Johnson, died Thursday, July 22, at her home after a brief illness. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Davis. She was a graduate of Francis Marion College. Mrs. Johnson was a retired school teacher and an IRS volunteer. She was preceded in death by her son, Fletcher Johnson.
Survivors include three children, Malcolm Johnson Jr. of Seneca, Melody Ann Bailey of Louisville, Ky., and Rodney Johnson of Hope Mills, N.C.; one brother, Sidney H. Davis of Port Orange, Fla.; one sister, Cora Mae Walters of Hartsville; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
LENORA ISAIAH
DARLINGTON — Funeral services for Lenora Isaiah, 84, were held at 9:15 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2004, at St. Benedict the Moor Church in Jamaica, N.Y. Burial followed in Pinelawn Memorial Park in Long Island, N.Y., directed by Bernard F. Dowd Funeral Home of Jamaica, N.Y.
Mrs. Isaiah died Wednesday, July 21, at Wilson Medical Center after an illness. She was born in Montgomery County, a daughter of the late Melvin and Maggie Smith Sickles. She was educated in the Montgomery County public school system and also received her post secondary education at Howard University. She was also employed as a dietary assistant for many years with the Queens Hospital Center.
Surviving are one son, Thomas Isaiah; eight grandchildren, Michael (Corsella) Isaiah, Andre Neely, Lisa Isaiah, Kim (Johnny) Benjamin, Danielle (Kevin) Jackson, Eugene M. Isaiah II, Allen Isaiah and Desmond Isaiah; nine great–grandchildren; one goddaughter, Jill Perpall; and a host of other close relatives and friends.
Local arrangements were entrusted to Young & Young Funeral Home.
REV. WILLIE BREWER
Funeral services for the Rev. Willie Brewer, 74, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at Wesley Temple Holiness Church. Burial was in the church cemetery located in the Ashland community, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.
The Rev. Brewer died Thursday, July 11, after an illness. He was born in Lee County, a son of the late Rev. Sidney and Pattie Bacote Brewer. He graduated from Butler High School and received his post–secondary education from Brooklyn Automotive School and also served in the U.S. Army in Korea.
The Rev. Brewer was ordained as a minister in 1987 and later became the pastor of Zion Holiness Church in Gresham. He recently continued to be a faithful servant at Wesley Temple Holiness Church and also assisted with the Magnolia Child Care Center.
Surviving are his wife, Portia Brewer of Hartsville; three sons, Willie D. Brewer and Lawrence Brewer, both of Laurelton, N.Y., and Michael Brewer of Hartsville; two grandchildren, Lametrice Brewer and Lawrence Brewer Jr., both of Laurelton, N.Y.; one brother, Amos (Pearl) Brewer of Hartsville; four sisters, Zealouise (Theodore) Hough of Hartsville; Susie (Maxie) Robinson of Philadelphia, Pa., Juliette (Elder Timothy) Lunn of Baltimore, Md., and Laura (Leslie) O'Neal of Winston–Salem, N.C.; three sisters–in–law; one brother–in–law and a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.
FRANCES KELLEY
Funeral services for Frances King Kelley, 88, will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 28, 2004, at Ashland United Methodist Church. The Revs. Barbee Parsons and Hazel Mixon will officiate with burial in Savannah Advent Church cemetery, directed by Brown–Pennington–Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Ashland United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Kelley, widow of Charlie R. Kelley, died Sunday, July 25. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Hoyt and Alice McCoy King. She was a member of Ashland United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her son, Charles H. Kelley of Hartsville; daughter and son–in–law, Frankie and John P. Flip Lane of Hartsville; five grandchildren; nine great–grandchildren; two great–great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Robert Kelley and James Kelley.
GLORIAN KING NICHOLS
Graveside services for Glorian King Nichols, widow of Zack Nichols, were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2004, in Magnolia cemetery with Dr. Bob Cline officiating, directed by Norton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Nichols died Thursday, July 22. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Harley and Gladys Gainey King. She was a retired nurse having worked several years with Drs. Moyd and Harris. She was a member of First Baptist Church, was devoted mother and grandmother and dedicated her life to helping others.
Surviving are her daughter and son–in–law, Glorian and Gary Chisholm of Patrick; sisters, Gerrie Cole of Charlotte, N.C., and Betty Dufour of Ruston, La.; grandchildren, Zachary and Spencer Chisholm of Patrick.
GISELA C. BARKDULL
Memorial services for Gisela Camejo Barkdull, 74, widow of Dallas A. Barkdull, were held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2004, in the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Martin officiating. Burial will be in Florida National cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
Mrs. Barkdull died Thursday, July 22. She was born in Havana, Cuba.
Surviving are her daughter, Connie Lane of Hartsville, and three grandchildren.
JEANETTE WINDHAM
Funeral services for Jeanette Melton Windham, 74, were held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at Kelleytown Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Anderson officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery, directed by Brown–Pennington–Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Kelleytown Baptist Church, 2609 Kelleytown Road, Hartsville, SC 29550, or Ashland United Methodist Church, 25 Windham Road, Bishopville, SC 29010.
Mrs. Windham died Sunday, July 25. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Grady Edward and Edith Newsome Melton. She was a member of Kelleytown Baptist Church, a faithful member of a Ladies Sunday School Class and a volunteer office assistant.
Surviving are her husband, Marvin H. Windham of Hartsville; son and daughter–in–law, Marty H. and Patty Windham of Hartsville; daughters and son–in–law, Jean Windham Adams of Hartsville, Pam and William Beckham of Long Beach, Calif.; brother and sister–in–law, Ed and June Melton of Hartsville; sister–in–law and brother–in–law, Lessie W. and Bob White of Bishopville; grandchildren, Donnie Adams of Columbia, Scottie Adams of Kingsville, Texas, Morgan Windham and Matthew Windham, both of Hartsville, Ellen Beckham and Hilton Beckham of Long Beach, Calif.; nephews, Edward Melton Jr. of Hartsville and Robert White of Hartsville.
