CONNIE DAVIS
Funeral services for Michael Connie Davis, 57, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2005, at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Steve Winburn officiated, with entombment in Westview Memorial Park cemetery.

Mr. Davis died Friday, Nov. 11, 2005. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of the late Jack and Maude Robinson Davis.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Boykin Davis of Hartsville; daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Junior Atkinson of Hartsville, Vickie and Rex Barfield of Patrick, Lisa and Ricky Smith of Latta; sister, Bonnie Hopkins of Darlington; brothers, Jerry Davis, Donnie Davis, both of Hartsville; grandchildren, Kendell Barfield, Ashton Atkinson, Skylar Atkinson, Tanner Smith and Conner Barfield.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Glenn Davis, Johnny Davis, Richard Davis, and his sister Betty Jean Ludrick.

AUDREY A. BROWN
Services for Audrey Ann Brown, 65, widow of James Edward Brown Sr., were held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2005, at the chapel of Norton Funeral Home. Burial was at 1 p.m. in Florence National cemetery.

Mrs. Brown died Wednesday, Nov. 9. Born in Greenbriar, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Buddy and Sallie Pitt Donvan.

Surviving are her children, James Edward Brown Jr., Debra Deruelle of New London, N.C., Hugh Billy Brown of Columbia, Pamela Locklear of Red Springs, N.C.; sister, Irene Jones of Greenbriar, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren.

CORA LEE JOHNSON
BISHOPVILLE - Funeral services for Cora Lee Johnson, 63, were held 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at St. Mark Baptist Church in Bishopville. Burial followed immediately after services in the church cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.

Ms. Johnson died Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. She was born in Kershaw County, a daughter of the late Roseanna Martin and Alfred Johnson. She received her education in the Lee County public school system and was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church.

Surviving are nine children, Alfred (Edell) Johnson, Ferman (Bonnie Ruth) Ross, Recco Ross, Jerry, Jeanette (Barney) Johnson, Rondell Boyd, Sharon (Dennis) Lowery, Banessa Ross and Andrea Barney, all of Bishopville; five sisters, Alice Johnson, Betty (Arthur) Williams, Martha (Isaac) Miller, Ella Mae Marlin, all of Bishopville, and Annie Bell (Lynn) Weather of Philadelphia, Pa.; three brothers, Ivory Moshea Johnson and Lucious Johnson, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Johnny (Amy) Johnson of the home; 17 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.

YVONNE McELVEEN
Funeral services for Yvonne Griggs McElveen, 68, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Pat Orr will officiate with burial in the church cemetery, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends tonight, Nov. 16, from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 2236 Bethlehem Rd., Hartsville, SC 29550 or Chesterfield Hospice, Box 293, Chesterfield, SC 29709.

Mrs. McElveen died Monday, Nov. 14. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of B. G. Griggs and the late Ara McFarland Griggs. She was a loving mother, daughter and grandmother.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Joan Rhinehart of Patrick; daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy and Mitchell Coleman of Marion, Tammy and Jim Keith of Society Hill; father of Society Hill; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Larry G. McElveen Jr.

CHARLIE FRAZIER
Graveside services for Charlie Frazier, 55, were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at Centerville A.M.E. Church cemetery, conducted by Young & Young Funeral Home.

Mr. Frazier died Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. He was born in Darlington County, a son of I.Z. Toney Frazier and the late Talon Frazier. He received his education in the Darlington County public school system and was a member of Centerville A.M.E. Church.

Surviving, other than his mother of Hartsville are his wife, Nellie Ann Gee Frazier of Hartsville; his children, Charles, James (Melissa) , Calvin, Marilyn, Monique, Jessica, Tyrone and Amenia, all of Hartsville, Terry, Michael (Jennifer) and Joshua, all of South Carolina, Cassandra, Loretta and Sargent, all of North Carolina, Charlena of Florida; siblings, Sargent Frazier, Nora M. Frazier, Glenn, Cleo Frazier Ingram, Tolan (Dora) Frazier, Marvin (Phillis) Frazier, James E. Frazier, Cal (Annie) Frazier, all of Hartsville, Patricia (Harold) Jenkins, Fonzena (Willie) McLin, both of Chicago, Ill., Kathyleen (George) Brown of North Carolina, Alice Henry of Utah and Shelia (Andrew) Davis of Darlington; 27 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.

JANET P. WHITE
Services for Janet Porter White, 94, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 16, 2005, at First Presbyterian Church in Hartsville. The Rev. Dr. Mac Doubles will officiate, and Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is in charge. The family will receive friends after the service in the McAlpine Room. There will be a private burial next to her husband at Magnolia cemetery. A memorial service, officiated by The Reverend John S. Akers III, will be held at a future date at the Well Spring Retirement Community in Greensboro, N.C.

Mrs. White, widow of Charles Warner White, died peacefully at her home at Well Spring Retirement Community on the evening of Nov. 10. She was born Jan. 18, 1911, in Leominister, Mass. She graduated from Dana Hall School for Women and then Garland College in Boston, Mass. In 1934 she married Charles W. White and was the mother of four children, six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She and her husband moved their family to Hartsville as he began a career with Sonoco Products Company in 1956. Janet became an active member of First Presbyterian Church participating in a variety of volunteer activities for her church and the community. She was active in the Women's Auxiliary for the First Presbyterian Church and was an enthusiastic member of the Hartsville Garden Club, Friends of the Library, the Meals-On-Wheels program and the Thursday Study Club, among others.

In 1994, she moved to the Well Spring Retirement Community, Greensboro, N.C., and transferred her church affiliation to the First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro. At Well Spring she continued to actively participate in visitations and other programs.

Surviving children are Sandra P. White of Greensboro, N.C., Charles W. White Jr. and wife Suzanne B.White of Greensboro, N.C., Joseph C. White and wife Patricia B.White of Wolfeboro, N.H., and Anne E. White of Huntington Beach, Calif.

Memorials may be made to Coker College or the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund.

HAROLD ANDERSON
DARLINGTON - Harold Boyd Anderson, 62, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2005. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at First Church of God, with interment following in Grove Hill cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Mr. Anderson was born in Darlington, son of Maudell Foxworth Anderson Spivey and the late Jesse L. Anderson Sr. He worked for Dupont until his retirement, and was then employed by Belk Funeral Home. Mr. Anderson was a member of the Selective Service Committee and loved gospel singing, woodworking, playing golf and spending time with his family. He was a member of First Church of God.

Surviving are his mother, Maudell F. Anderson Spivey, and her husband, Clyde; his wife, Gwen Rogers Anderson; two daughters, Rhonda (Lee) Richardson of Darlington, Laura (Robert) Forehand of Florence; grandchildren, Austin Harrelson, Harrison Forehand and Josh, Jeffrey and Amanda Richardson; two brothers, Jay (Barbara) Anderson of Florence and Tony (Rachael) Anderson of Darlington; step-brother, Billy (Mary) Spivey of Darlington; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to First Church of God, 620 N. Main St., Darlington, SC 29532.

DERRICK J. WASHINGTON
Funeral services for Derrick Joseph Washington were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at the Butler High School Gymnatorium. The burial followed in the St. John United Methodist Church cemetery, directed by Hines Funeral Home Inc. of Hartsville. Apostle Crystal D. Adams, the pastor of Consuming Fire Ministries in Hartsville officiated the services.

'D.J., ' as he was affectionately known, was born Jan. 30, 1979, in Darlington County. He was the loving son of Ida Mae Washington Pearson and Jessie Washington. He was the stepson of the late James Pearson. Derrick was educated in the public schools of Darlington County. He later moved to Charlotte, N.C., where he was employed with the Sygma Corporation. He was a member of Consuming Fire Ministries. Two of his brothers Israel Washington and Allen Toney preceded him in death.

Surviving other that his parents Ida Mae Washington Pearson and Jessie Washington of Hartsville, are his wife Nicole Washington of Hartsville; his daughter Patrice Washington of Hartsville; two sisters Faye (David Kirk) Robinson of Charlotte, N.C., and Karen (Tracy) Mouzon of Florence; and three brothers, Jerome (Dianne) Washington of Richmond, Va., William (Lavette) Washington of Columbia and Jessie Washington Jr. of Hartsville; two stepbrothers, Antonio Dix and Marqual Toney, both of Hartsville; his grandmother, Ida Tucker of Richmond, Va.; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews nieces and other close relatives and friends.

MAXINE McCALL
MYRTLE BEACH - A memorial service for Maxine McCall, was held Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, in Myrtle Beach with arrangements entrusted to McMillan-Small Funeral Home of Myrtle Beach.

Mrs. McCall, wife of Bruce Wyatt, died Friday, Nov. 4, at her residence. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Weldon F. Truett and Katherine Cobb Truett Melton.

Survivors including her husband, are three sons, Michael Chad Mixon and John Lee (Sandy) Mixon, both of Hartsville, and John Weldon Joseph 'Joey' McCall of Easley; one sister, Donna (Mike) Burch of Hartsville; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 950-48th Ave., N., Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.

MARVIN E. WHITE
TIMMONSVILLE - Funeral services for Marvin E. White, 83, were held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at Philadelphia Southern Methodist Church with burial following in Byrd cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Dan Thigpen and directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Mr. White died Monday, Nov. 7, in a local hospital. He was born in Florence County, son of the late Henry Dewey and Thelma Windham White. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and attended Clemson University. He was a retired farmer and co-owner of Milling Warehouse and Growers Warehouse. He was also a Shriner and enjoyed attending the Men's Prayer Breakfast. Mr. White was a member of Philadelphia Southern Methodist Church where he was an honorary deacon and a member of the Men's Sunday School Class.

Surviving are his wife, Gladys Parnell White of the home, three daughters and a son-in-law, Bonnie (James) Tedder of Oates community, Pam White, Sharon White, both of Lamar; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Dawn White of Lamar; grandchildren, Rhonda Coker, Stacey Runey, Russ June, Brent June, Mason White, Eddie White; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joanne Andrews, Loma Davis, both of Summerton; and a brother, Thad White of Florence.

Mr. White was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Ham, and two brothers, Hugh and Donald White.

Memorials may be made to Philadelphia Southern Methodist Church, 1665 Philadelphia St., Darlington, SC 29532.

LOUISE DORSEY
Funeral services for Louise Dorsey will be held today, Nov. 11, 2005, at 2 p.m. The burial will follow in the church's cemetery directed by Hines Funeral Home Inc. Bishop Vera M. Davis, the pastor of the church will officiate the service.

In the Lord's appointed time the journey for Louise Dorsey ended Monday, Nov. 7, at the McLeod Hospice after a long illness.

Mrs. Dorsey was born in Hartsville, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wade and Lissie McCray. She was educated in the Darlington County School System. She was a career homemaker and provided a loving home for her family.

She was raised in a Christian home and was an early member of Mt. Tema Baptist Church where she was member of the Usher Board. She moved to New York City at an early age where she eventually received the Lord as her savior and became a member of the Tabernacle of Deliverance Church and was a member of the Missionary Board. Later in life she was appointed a member of the Mother Board. In 1998, she returned to the Hartsville area where she attended Nazareth Apostolic Church IJC Inc., under the leadership of Dr. Vera M. Davis.

She was the mother of five children. They were blessed to have such a loving and caring mother. Louise worked hard all of her life to improve the quality of her life and enhance the life of her children. She loved to cook. Often, while living in New York City, she would cook for the entire neighborhood. Everyone loved her cooking.

Mrs. Dorsey was a kind, generous, passionate and strong-willed individual. Most importantly, she was a very loving mother and grandmother. She will be truly missed by family and friends.

Surviving to cherish her loving memory are her four daughters, Sinaretha Valtierra of the home; Sarah and Ethelene Addison of New York, N.Y.; Joyce (Cephus) Martin of Durham, N.C.; one son, Tommy 'Porky' Addison of New York, N.Y.; a special goddaughter, Carol Pringle of Hartsville; five sisters, Zella Jackson and Mary Addison of Hartsville; Betty Arthur of Atlantic City, N.J.; Geraldine McCray of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Virginia McCray of New York, N.Y.; two stepsons, Frank McFarland of Hartsville; Benny Ray Dorsey of Chicago, Ill.; 29 grandchildren, four of whom she raised, Celeste, Hope, Charles and Calvin; 78 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and many other friends relatives and close acquaintances.

DORIS A. WEAVER
Graveside services for Doris (Dinky) Alford Weaver, 77, were held Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at 2 p.m. in Magnolia cemetery, directed by Norton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Weaver, widow of Laverne Weaver, died Tuesday, Nov. 8. She was born in Hartsville a daughter of the late Thomas B. and Annie Osborne Alford. She was a member of First Baptist Church and Gold Star Wives.

Surviving are a daughter, Beth Hampton of Hartsville; son, Tim Weaver of Columbia; grandchildren, Mark, Daniel, Mary Beth Weaver of Columbia, Cody Hampton of Hartsville; brother, Jack Alford of Hartsville; half brothers, Jerry Alford of Wayne City, Ill., Frank Alford of Lamar.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2216 Clareview Dr., Florence, SC 29505 or the Hartsville Rescue Squad, PO Box 2094, Hartsville, SC 29550.

KAREN ANN SHEALY
ST. MATTHEWS - Services for Karen Ann Shealy, 50, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at State Street Baptist Church, Cayce, with burial in Elmwood cemetery and Gardens, Columbia. Visitation will be tonight, Nov. 11, from 6-8 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Memorials may be made to State Street Baptist Church, 1420 State St., Cayce, SC 29033.

Mrs. Shealy died Saturday, Nov. 5. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of Estell J. DeMates and the late Charles W. DeMates. She was a member of State Street Baptist Church.

Surviving are sons, Cameron Shealy of Cayce, Chantz Shealy and his wife, Jamie, of Tacoma, Wash., and Creighton Shealy of St. Matthews; her mother of Cayce; and brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Chris Goff of Winter Park, Fla.
