Mr. Jordan died Saturday, Dec. 10. He was born in Bishopville, a son of Joseph and Linda Rollins Jordan. He lived for many years in Georgetown, where he attended Duncan United Methodist Church. He was formerly employed with H & S Oil Co. and Nash Oil Co. in Georgetown as a service technician. He was working for West Propane & Oil Co. in Hartsville at the time of his death.
Surviving are his parents of Bishopville; daughter, Courtney Jordan of Bishopville; sisters, Dana J. Dittman and Angie Jordan of Hartsville; maternal grandmother, Geraldine Rollins of Bishopville. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Phillip; his maternal grandfather, Louis Rollins Sr.; and paternal grandparents, Preston and Ossie Jordan.
HELEN B. THOMPSON
Mrs. Thompson died Thursday, Dec. 8, at Conway Hospital. She was born Oct. 10, 1943, in Conway, the daughter of the late Leon O. and Myrtle Lee Faircloth Bessant. Mrs. Thompson was a 1961 graduate of Conway High School. She was the office manager for Lavon's Heating and Air Conditioning in Loris since 1983. Mrs. Thompson was an active supporter of the Finklea career center as well as many various youth activities, and enjoyed traveling to beauty pageants with her granddaughter Jo Jo. She was a member of Sweetwater Branch Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Lavon P. Thompson of Conway; two sons, Pernell Thompson, Russell Thompson and his wife Angie all of Loris; and one daughter Lynne Overby and her husband Kirb of Rock Hill.
Mrs. Thompson was a devoted grandmother to her four grandchildren, Josephine (Jo Jo) Thompson of Loris, Bailey and Christopher Thompson of Loris, and Larry Overby of Rock Hill. She enjoyed camping and spending time with her grandchildren.

VERNELL GAINEY
Mrs. Gainey was born in Hartsville a daughter of the late Joseph and Dora Miller. She and her late husband organized the Dovesville Church of God and served there for 23 years. Surviving are sons, Doc G. Gainey Jr. of Hartsville, Gene Gainey of Darlington, Jimmy Gainey of Camden; adopted son, Timothy Wayne Lackey of Hartsville; sister, Ethel Tadlock of Darlington; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great -great-grandchildren.

EDITH G. HARPER
Mrs. Harper, widow of Tom Harper, died Thursday, Dec. 8. Born in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Steven and Nettie Caston Folsom and the late Eunice Lee Folsom. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Moose. She was retired from Sonoco Products Co.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Nettie Jean LeGrand and Woody Roe of Aiken, Libby and LaVerne McPherson of Hartsville; son-in-law, Bill Guinn of Camden; sister, Elease Elmore of Bishopville; brother, Glenn Folsom of Bishopville; 30 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Harper was preceded in death by her son, Robert C. Gardner Sr.; daughter, Geri Guinn; brother, S. L. Folsom; sisters, Melverie Elmore, Alberta Thomas, and Thelma Joyner.
FODIE G. WARREN
Mrs. Warren, widow of K. C. Warren, died Tuesday, Dec. 13. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Hosea Gainey and Mattie Kelley Johnson.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Elbert and Dianne Warren of Hartsville, Jimmy and Sue Warren, Kenny and Teresa Warren, all of Hartsville; daughters and sons-in-law, Grace and Boyd Dalrymple of Florence, Betty and Tracy Busbee of Elgin, Barbara and Malcolm Byrd, Linda and Milton Bradshaw, both of Patrick, Carolyn and Billy Funderburk, Brenda and Fred Beasley, all of Hartsville, Debra and Jerry Crowley of Mocksville, N.C., and Donna Foxworth of Darlington; 29 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Geraldine O'Neal.

BERNICE R. PHILLIPS
Mrs. Phillips, formerly of Sanford, died Sunday, Dec. 11, at the Friends Home Guilford in Greensboro. Born in Iredell County, Mrs. Phillips was the daughter of the late Thomas and Annie Parker Brantley. She was preceded in death by husbands Charles P. Rogers Jr., and Guy Phillips Jr. She attended Brevard College and was a graduate of The University of North Carolina. She was also a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by three daughters, Diann Goins and husband Joel of Potomac Falls, Va., Donna Barrett and husband Steve of Hartsville, and Leslie Tripp of Raleigh, N.C.; one step-daughter, Pat Ruckers and husband Kirk of Greensboro; and one step-son, Gary 'Buster' Phillips III, of Holden Beach. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Gillian, wife of Ernest 'E.C.' Gillian Sr., died Dec. 13, at her home. Born in Hartsville, Dec. 19, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Barney McCoy and Pauline McInville Morrell. She was a graduate of Hartsville High School and retired from Commissioner of Public Works after 19 years of service. Mrs. Gillian had served as a volunteer at Self Regional Medical Center for the last 17 years. She was a member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church and the Lydia Sunday School Class.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 60 years are two sons, Ernie Gillian and wife, Candy, of Greenwood and Mike Gillian and wife, Susan of Belvedere; a brother, Wilbur Morrell of Hartsville; three sisters, Lizzie Stewart of Florence, Mary Cooley and Doris Bateman, both of Hartsville; five grandchildren, Kevin and wife Ashley and Jason Gillian of Belvedere, Paige Hodges and Anna and Ashton Ready, all of Greenwood; four great-grandchildren, Ryan and Camryn Gillian and Carson and Mary Elliott Hodges; a daughter-in-law, Janice McMahan of Abbeville.
Honorary escort will be members of the Lydia School of Rice Memorial Baptist Church and the volunteers of Self Regional Medical Center along with John Hastings, Joe Scott, Ray Witt, Dan Wideman, Jyll Maddox, Jack Simpson, Nay Morrell, Dr. Floyd Hatcher and Dr. Ed Rapp.

DAVID WRIGHT
Mr. Wright died Sunday, Dec. 10, at his residence after an illness. He was born in Chesterfield County, a son of the late Luther Wright and Rebecca Hunter Wright. He received his education in the public schools in the area and was a member of The Church in the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith Inc.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia (Horace) Graham of Middendorf Community and Diana V. (Elder Joe C.) Tisdale of Kingstree; two sons, David Wilson (Gerthine) Wright of the Middendorf Community and Rondey Wright of Colonial Beach, Va.; two sisters, Clara Bell McQueen of Cheraw and Mary Lee Wright of Newark, N.J.; one adopted daughter, Christine Robinson; two adopted sons, Jimmy and Red Easterling; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives, friends and church family.
BETTY S. MACKEY
Mrs. Smith died Saturday, Dec. 10, at Presbyterian Hospital, Matthews, after an illness. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late David and Lula Mae Graham Smith Jr. She received her education in the public schools in the area.
Surviving are two daughters, Natasha N. Smith of Far Rockaway, N.Y., and Sheena V. Mackey of Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters, Deloris McCreary of Charlotte, N.C., Mary Lee Artis of New Jersey and Wantinea Virgo of New York; one brother-in-law, Isaac W. Artis of New Jersey; a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.
PAUL L. HALL JR.
Paul, who died Dec. 11, was born in Hartsville, a son of Paul Leland Hall Sr. and Monica Sheen Hall.
Surviving are his parents of Hartsville; brothers, Nicklas, Christopher and Dylan Hall of Hartsville; paternal grandmother, Lucille Hall of Hartsville; maternal grandparents, Marion and Pat Sheen of Lugoff.
JAKE PATTERSON
Mr. Patterson died Wed., Dec. 7, in a local hospital. He was born in Fayetteville, N.C., son of the late George Frank and Pearl Belle Buchannan Patterson. He was an insurance agent and also a substitute teacher for the Darlington County School System. Mr. Patterson was of the Baptist Faith.
Surviving are his wife, Olivette Abbott Patterson; a son, Kenneth 'Ken' T. Patterson of Copperas Cove, Texas; three daughters: Karen (Mike) P. Andrews, Kathy (Tracy) P. Watts, all of Darlington, Kaye P. Walton of Euless, Texas; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Louise Miles of Myrtle Beach, Alma Stonecypher and Sue Lewis, both of Darlington.
Mr. Patterson was preceded in death by a brother, George Frank Patterson Jr.

CRAIG L. LATTIMER
Mr. Lattimer passed away in Spokane, Wash., on Nov. 20. He had been in declining health for some time. He was born in Hartsville on Oct. 30, 1953, the son of the late James Vincent Lattimer and Vera Morrell Lattimer Myers. He received his early education in the Hartsville public schools and then attended Bridgeville High School, Bridgeville, Del.
Mr. Lattimer was a quite generous man who enjoyed traveling, camping and reading, but most of all he enjoyed the simple things in life: a sunrise, or the beauty of snow covered trees He also liked the solitude of northwestern Montana where he lived a number of years with his mother.
Surviving, in addition to his mother of Troy, Mont., is a sister, Gail L. Lattimer and a brother-in-law, Jim Wood, of Woodbine, Md., his step-father, Gary Thom, also of Troy, Mont. He is also survived by two step-sisters, Ragan Thom of Troy and Tara Adams of Great Falls, Mont.; a step-brother, Stephen Thom of San Jacinto, Calif.; a foster brother, Trey Barfield of Gambrills, Md.; and a very special aunt, Mrs. Jennie Talbert of Hartsville, and numerous cousins.
Mr. Lattimer was preceded in death by his father and his beloved grandparents, Lonnie L. and Ida Freeman Morrell.
