Mrs. Mullis, widow of Harold J. Mullis, died Wednesday, April 26. Born in Sanford, N.C., she was a daughter of the late George Frederick and Mary Stansill Gopfert. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was retired as manager of the Hartsville High School cafeteria.
Surviving are her son and daughters-in-law, Al and Sheila Mullis of Hartsville; Anne Mullis of Jamestown, N.C.; grandchildren, Debbie Anderson, Cathy Stogner, Blake Buchanan, Corey Buchanan; three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Mullis.
ELNORA BENJAMIN
Ms. Benjamin died Friday, April 21, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of Reatha Benjamin and the late Preston Hunter Sr. She received her education in the Darlington County public school system and was a member of New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving other than her mother, Reath Benjamin of Darlington, are two sons, Kendrick (Shaleetha) Benjamin of Fayetteville, N.C., and Derrick Benjamin of Darlington; five grandchildren, Shaquevia Davis, Keymoni Benjamin, Kyrese Benjamin, Keyonc Benjamin and Kiymoni Benjamin, all of Fayetteville, N.C.; 10 siblings, Pearlie (Michael) Floyd and Alphonza (Minetta) Benjamin, both of Darlington, Willie Ervin (Elizabeth) Smith of Hartsville, Margaret (Mitchell) Flynn, Jacqueline (Mack Jr.) Williamson, Joyce (Billy) Sanders, all of Darlington, Vallaree Hunter, Slena Slater of Hartsville, Mary Hunter and Willie Hunter, both of Charlotte, N.C.; four aunts, Naomi B. Sanders and Nettie Grant, both of Darlington, Lillian Broderick of Society Hill, and Magnolia Littles of Hartsville; three uncles, Ike Benjamin of Florence, George W. Hunter of Darlington and James Hunter of Society Hill; a special friend, Charles Robinson Jr. of Society Hill; a devoted nephew, Marcus Floyd of Darlington; one goddaughter, Jameeka Burgess of Society Hill; a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.
SANFORD WINGARD
Mr. Wingard died Wednesday, April 26. Born in Hartley, Del., he was a son of the late Tobias and Bessie Rodda Wingard. He was a faithful member of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the VFW. He was retired from Bell Atlantic Telephone Co. with 38 years of service and was a life member of Telephone Pioneers. He lived in Newark, Del., where he was past president of the Lions, charter member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and past president of Newark Little League.
Surviving are his wife, Marie McGinnis Wingard of Hartsville; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Gail Wingard of Hartsville; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Kenny Williams of Aynor; sister, Bea Strahle of Milford, Del.; grandsons and spouses, Daniel (Jill) Wingard of Silver Spring, Md., Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Wingard of Greenville, David Wingard of Clemson, Cale Williams of Aynor, Josh Williams of Aynor.
PAUL C. HALL
Mr. Hall, widower of Aline Crowley Hall, died April 27. He was born in Kershaw County, a son of the late Cosmore A. and Polly Baker Hall. He was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school director, chairman of Grounds Committee and many other committees of the church. He was employed with Hartsville Mills for 19 years and retired from Sonoco Products Co. after 21 years of service.
Surviving are a son, Paul J. Hall, Hartsville; daughters, Jan (Buddy) Osborne, Hartsville, Debbie (Tony) Hardin, Jacksonville, N.C.; brother, Jerry Hall, Cassatt; sisters, Polly Ann Leaird, Katie Sue Langley, Cassatt, Nancy Jackson, Lugoff; grandchildren, Rodney Tiller, Logan and Marie Hall, Hartsville, Joshua and Sarah Hardin, Jacksonville, N.C.; special friend, Virginia Outlaw, McBee.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Dot West.

ROBERT AARON
EDITH M. HAYNESWORTH
Mrs. Haynesworth was born Jan. 8, 1928, in the Byrdtown Community of Darlington County. She was the seventh child of Evander and Rosa Lee Smith Swinney. She attended Robinson Elementary and later graduated from Butler High School in 1946. At Butler, she was a superstar basketball player serving as captain of her team for two years.
At an early age, she joined the New Hopewell Baptist Church in Society Hill. She was a homemaker and was the child care provider for many families in and around Hartsville.
Surviving to cherish the loving memory of Edith Mae Swinney Haynesworth include four daughters, Alta (Evans) Gilliard, Elizabeth Haynesworth and Anita Davis all of Hartsville, and Lunette (Floyd) Taylor of Kernersville, N.C.; three sons, Albert Haynesworth Jr., Maceo Haynesworth Sr. and Timothy (Valerie) Haynesworth all of Hartsville; three sisters, Leona (Joe) Budd and Jeannette Hurst, both of Philadelphia, Pa., and Judy Furlow of Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Henry Swinney of Darlington, nine grandchildren, Tracey Copeland, Trena (Isaiah) Addison, Nedra Haynesworth, Maceo Haynesworth Jr., Latoya Haynesworth, Albert (Stephanie) Haynesworth III, Chip (Keyla) Gilliard, Bryce Taylor and Courtney Taylor; 12 great-grandchildren, her care giver, Barbara Ann Bonner; and many other dear relatives and very dear friends.
HEYWARD LEE DIXON
Mr. Dixon died Friday, April 23. He was born in Hartsville, a son of the late Cord and Alice Odom Dixon. He was a retired construction worker. Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by a son, Roy Lee Dixon, three brothers, Pete, Laverene, and J.C. Dixon, and by a sister, Mary Dixon.
Surviving are his son David Lee Dixon of Kannapolis, N.C.; four daughters, Chamarie L. 'Sha' Dixon, Angela D. Dixon, Shannon R. Dixon, and Kimberly D. Dixon all of Kannapolis, N.C.; a step-daughter, Crystal Smith of Kannapolis, N.C.; two brothers: Everette Dixon of Kannapolis, N.C., and William Melvin Dixon of Kershaw; five sisters, Azlee Anderson of Semmes, Ala., Doris Mellons and Carolyn West of Kannapolis, N.C., Annie Ruth Wilks and Shirley Wayne of Hartsville; also 14 grandchildren.

DEREK ANDERSON
Mr. Anderson died Sunday, April 23. He was born June 22, 1985, in Torrejon, Spain, the son of Jeff Anderson and Jeanmarie (Puckett) Anderson. Derek grew up in Spain, Tampa, Fla., and Alamagordo, N.M., and most recently in New Caney, Texas, where he graduated from high school. He was attending Kingwood College at the time of his death. He worked in shipping and receiving at the Wal-Mart distribution center in Houston. He enjoyed both freshwater and saltwater fishing, working with computers and working on his truck. He was talented in electronics where he could wire almost anything. On Aug. 19, 2005, he married
Jessica Collum.
Preceding him in death were his maternal grandmother, Ruth Stanley, maternal grandfather, Kenneth Puckett and an uncle, Ed Anderson.
Survivors are his wife, Jessica Anderson of Lewiston, Maine; parents, Jeanmarie Anderson and husband, David Buckewlew of Whitney; Jeff Anderson and wife, Christy of Lewiston, Maine; paternal grandfather, Bill Stanley of Hartsville; maternal grandmother, Wanda Puckett of Anson, Texas; aunts, Chris Madison and husband, Stan of San Francisco, Calif.; Debbie Puckett of Augusta, Ga.; Carmen Dykes and husband Chuck of St. Augustine, Fla.; cousins, Courtney and Julia Madison of San Francisco, Calif.
JANIE DELLA RHODES
ADGER P. ANDREWS SR.
Mr. Andrews, husband of Dorothy Windham Andrews, entered into eternal rest Saturday, April 22, after an extended illness with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases. He was born in Darlington County, a son of the late Adalay White Andrews and William Mack Andrews. He was a thoughtful, loving, giving, dedicated Christian, and a wonderful husband. After a tenure of 45 years with American Can Company and Fort James Corporation as a mechanical foreman, he retired. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening and watching NASCAR races on television.
Mr. Andrews was a member of First Church of God, Opportunity Bible Sunday School Class, Men's Club, Saints Alive, American Legion Post 13, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3609, Springdale Men's Club, Upper Pee Dee Gun Club, L.S.T. Association and American Retired Persons.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II on the L.S.T. - 134, and was in the Normandy and Southern France invasions on D-Day. After this, Mr. Andrews served in the Pacific Theater and received several medals, which included American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and Navy Occupation Service Medal with Asia Clasp Medal.
Survivors in addition to his wife of Darlington, include four sisters, Mrs. Juanita A. Morrell, Mrs. Virginia (Marion) A. Howle, Mrs. Maxine (Hubert) A. Gainey, all of Hartsville and Mrs. Shirley (Bill) Gross of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Charles A. Andrews, Larry M. (Lynn) Andrews, both of Darlington, and Kenneth M. (Sandra) Andrews of Goose Creek; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Andrews was preceded in death by son, Adger P. Andrews Jr. and daughter, Shelby A. Fratus; two brothers, Richard L. Andrews and William James Andrews.

FRANK LEMON
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Paddy Jo Patrick Lemon of Darlington; two daughters, Beverly J. Borucki of Columbia and Karen Purvis of Darlington; one son, Franklin E. Lemon of Darlington; four grandchildren, Dawn E. Joye of Charleston, Gayle Roberson of Columbia, Bonnie Blue Battista and Amber Grace Lemon, both of Darlington; great-grandchildren, Ashley Knight of Columbia and Matthew Knight of Darlington; one sister, Doris Young of Elloree and one brother, Mack Lemmon of Darlington.
Mr. Lemon was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

ROSA LEE WATFORD
Mrs. Watford died Sunday morning, April 23. She was born in Johnston County, N.C., daughter of the late Alfred and Bersie Hare Glover. She was the widow of the late Lafoye Manly Watford. Mrs. Watford was a member of Lamar United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Fellowship Sunday School Class, Canasta Club, and Sue Stewart Circle.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving are two daughters, Beverly W. Turner Tames (Robert) of Bishopville and Cynthia W. Howell (Dwayne) of Turbeville; four grandsons, Paul Lee Turner IV of Reno, Nev., Mitchell Manly Turner (Janet) of Decatur, Ga., Kristopher Ryan Howell and Michael Chaz Howell, both of Turbeville; a step-granddaughter, Lisa Tames Gangai of Liberty, Mo., and two step great-granddaughters, Mikaela and Madison Gangai; also surviving are two sisters, Theo G. Ferrante of Zebulon, N.C., and Bloise G. Creech Carroll of Middlesex, N.C.; and three brothers, A. G. Glover (Thyra) of Middlesex, N.C., Chester Glover (Sara) of Smithfield, N.C., and Ronald Glover of Middlesex, N.C.; also, several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Watford was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Turner, and a sister, Lucille G. Jenkinson.

MICHAEL RAY OUSLEY
Mr. Ousley died Sunday, April 23, in a local hospital after an illness. He was born in Hartsville, a son of the late James Franklin Ousley Jr. and Lois Gent Ousley. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a nursing degree and was a registered nurse and the Director of Case Management at Regency Hospital in Florence. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and a Sunday school teacher in the Youth Department.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Smith Ousley of Florence; a son, Michael Todd (Missy) Ousley of Florence; a daughter, Traci Renee Ousley of Murrells Inlet; two step-sons, Joseph Shawn (Jamie) McClam of Florence and David Patrick (Lindsay) McClam of Beaufort; a step-daughter, Lillian Ashlee Lawhon of Florence; a brother, James F. (Joyce) Ousley III of Hartsville and five grandchildren.
