In honor of his spirit for life and friendship, his family invites you to come and participate in a CELEBRATION of his life at a private club in Hartsville on Wednesday, March 15, from 6 p.m. until.
As per his wishes, a very short ceremony will be held on the beach in front of the OD Pavilion on Thursday, March 16, at 1 p.m.
Memorial donations in his honor are requested in the place of flowers and may be made to the Matthew Moore Memorial Scholarship Fund, 586 W. Carolina Ave. Hartsville, SC 29550. Surviving is a son, William G. 'Bucky' Dudley III of Mt. Pleasant.
ROSS GARDNER
Mr. Gardner, widower of Ruth Thomas Gardner, died Friday, March 10. Born in Union, N.C., he was a son of the late George and Frances Dawkins Gardner. He was a member of North Hartsville Baptist Church, served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was retired from Sonoco Products Company with 37 years of service.
Surviving are his son, the Rev. Jerry Ross Gardner of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughters, Jeannie Thompson of Florence, Sandra Johnson of Hartsville; sisters-in-law Dorothy Louise Hoffman of Hartsville, Clara Evelyn Griggs of Augusta, Ga.; brother-in-law, Wayne Marvin Thomas of Hartsville; grandchildren, Danny Cassidy Jr., Devri Cassidy, Garren Brown, Ashley Reeves, Nash Gardner; seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Gardner.
SADIE K. BRUTON
Mrs. Bruton, widow or Ray Bruton, died Saturday, March 11. She was born in Hartsville, the daughter of the late Leonard and Lila Northcutt King. She graduated from McBee High School, attended Coker College, was a member of Union United Methodist Church, The Eastern Star, United Methodist Women and the Sonoco Old Timers Club. She was retired from Sonoco Products Company. In her younger years she was very active in the community.
Surviving are one brother, Carl King, Hartsville; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister. Memorials may be made to Union United Methodist Church, 4374 Union Church Road, McBee, SC 29101.
CONYERS MONTGOMERY
Elder Montgomery was born July 30, 1908, in St. Charles. He was the eighth of 11 children of Hammie C. and Tamer Carter Montgomery. He attended the public schools of Lee County and later moved to Hartsville, where he was employed at the Hartsville Bleachery until its closing. He also worked diligently at the First Presbyterian Church, St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church and retired from the Belk Department Store in 1993.
He was united early in life to Florine Scott of St. Charles, who preceded him in death. This union was blessed with the birth of five children. He was later married
to Lula Mae Williams of Hartsville on Feb. 7, 1966. From this union he was extended the love of three step-daughters. He was a faithful and loyal member of Mt. Sinai Presbyterian Church of Mayesville, where he served as elder, the clerk of sessions, and member of the Senior Choir. He was a member of Myrtle Masonic Lodge No. 64 of Hartsville.
Surviving to cherish the loving memories of Conyers Montgomery are his loving and caring wife, Lula Mae Montgomery, and stepdaughter, Jacqueline Moore of Hartsville; three daughters, Mary Alice (Bernice) Wilson of Hartsville; Corine M. Ervin of Columbia; and Georgia Mae (John) Pearson of Suitland, Md.; two sons, Mr. Hammie C. (Margaret) Montgomery and William (Cynthia) Montgomery of Hartsville; two additional step-daughters, Joyce Burns of Society Hill and Patricia Wilson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Cleo Williams of Hartsville; 23 grandchildren, 39 great-grand children and eight great-great-grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces and other close relatives and very dear friends, all of whom join with the family in sharing the grief by his departure, but rejoice in his homegoing.

ROY WEATHERFORD
Mr. Weatherford died Thursday, March 9. He was born in Darlington County, son of the late Bennie Lee Weatherford and Earline Purvis Weatherford Anderson. Roy had retired from Nucor Steel after 25 years of service. He loved working on tractors and lawn mowers, but his real love was his grandchildren. Mr. Weatherford was a member of Indian Branch United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Dottie Jean Hill Weatherford, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Stu Gillham of Tenn.; two grandchildren, Rachael and Sarah Gillham; five sisters, Lois Baird, Mary McQueen, Joyce McInville all of Darlington, Iona Morris of Raleigh, N.C., Joanne Lyons of Darlington; two brothers, Cecil Weatherford and Eli Weatherford, both of Darlington and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Weatherford was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Odom and Mildred Lewis, and three brothers; Bennie, Thomas, and Willie Weatherford.

NEWELL LEE
Mr. Lee died Sunday, March 12. He was born in Florence County, son of the late Delton and Gaynell Huff Lee. He was an all-star basketball player during high school and served his country with the United States Air Force. He had retired from DuPont after more than 25 years and coached Little League baseball in Darlington and Effingham. Mr. Lee was an avid golfer and was a volunteer tour guide for Darlington Raceway. He loved his granddaughter. Mr. Lee attended the First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Blackmon Lee of Darlington; two sons, Phillip Lee II and Patrick (Dawn) Lee; granddaughter, Cassidy Lee, all of Darlington; two sisters, Beatrice Davis of Hot Springs, Ark., and Wanda Jeffcoat of Lexington; three brothers, Junior Lee of Lexington, Arnold Lee of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jake Lee of Effingham.
Mr. Lee was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Lee; three sisters, Nell Rine Smith, Carolyn Lee and Gertrude Shirley and four brothers, Garvin, R.B., Larry and Buster Lee.

JOHN MURPHY
GEORGE W. ADDISON
Mr. Addison was born March 6, 1926, in Hartsville, in the Kelleytown Community. He was a son of the late Eddie and Carrie Graham Addison and was educated in the public schools of Darlington County. Mr. Addison was first a member of Kelleybell United Methodist Church but attended other churches as well. He was currently attending Liberty Christian Assembly Church in Darlington. Mr. Addison was a member of William Temple Lodge No. 364 of Ashland for more than 50 years.
Mr. Addison worked as a farmer for many years for the Gilbert and Saleeby families. He also enjoyed landscaping and other things associated with the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed hunting. Church was his first love and he always enjoyed church services.
Mr. Addison loved his family and really enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He especially liked having dinner with his family at the Thunderbird. He was married
to the former Lucinda Williams on Aug. 7, 1948, and they were the proud parents of 17 children. Eight of his children preceded him in death.
Surviving to cherish the loving memories of Mr. George Washington Addison include his wife of nearly 58 years, Lucinda Addison of Hartsville; three sons, Eddie (Edith) Addison of Sumter, Robert Addison and Enoch Addison, both of Hartsville; six daughters, Shirley (Isaiah) Burton of Lydia, Sarah (the Rev. Ralph, deceased) Friday of Patrick, Catherine (David) Belin, Linda (Joseph) Peterson, Gladys Brown, and Edith (Matthew) Brown, all of Hartsville; six brothers, Enoch Addison, Wilford (Verlene) Addison both of Paterson, N.J., Robert Addison of Hartsville, Zinnerman Addison and Jesse Addison, both of Washington, D.C., and Herbert Addison of Charlotte, N.C.; one sister-in-law, Edna Addison of Hartsville; four brothers-in-law, Joseph Williams, Matthew Williams, Ronnie Williams and June Williams, all of New Jersey; 24 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and very dear friends.
BRIAN JOHNSON
Brian was born in Cheraw, a son of James C. (Jimmy) and Veronica Quinn Johnson. He was a graduate of Hartsville High School and was attending Florence-Darlington Technical College.
Surviving are his parents of Hartsville; three brothers: Timothy C. Johnson of Florence, Steven J. (Gaybie) Johnson of Charlotte, Christopher (Elizabeth) Johnso of Hartsville. Memorials may be made to the Catholic Charity of Charleston, 1662 Ingram Road, Charleston, SC 29407.
CORNELL RICHARDSON
Mr. Richardson died Tuesday, March 7, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. He was born in Darlington County, a son of the late Adolphus and Rosa Cooper Richardson. He received his education in the public schools in the Darlington County system and was graduate of South Carolina State University.
Mr. Richardson was a retired employee with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, various civic, fraternal organizations and church organizations. He was also a member of Masonic Myrtle Lodge No. 6411.
Surviving are his wife, Viola Richardson of Hartsville; four sons, Cornell (Judy) Richardson Jr., of Anderson, Alfred Richardson of Summerville, Ivy (Lisa) Richardson of Buford, Ga., and Marck (Lynn) Richardson of Sugar Hill, Ga.; three siblings, Toynetta McGraw of Columbia, Rosebud Beverly of Springfield, Va., and Clayton Richardson of Hartsville; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.

NETTIE HUGGINS
Mrs. Huggins, widower of Heyward Truett and David Huggins, died Sunday, March 5. Born in Hartsville, she was a daughter of the late J. K. and Emily Cook Webb. She was a member of First Baptist Church, and retired as a dental assistant after 23 years of working for Dr. J.E. Cannon Jr.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie and Dorothy Warren of Hartsville; grandchildren and spouse, William and Lou Warren, James and Melinda Warren, all of Hartsville; great-grandchildren, Tommy Warren, Donnie Warren, Joey Warren, Austin Robertson, Whitney Warren.
RANDY JACKSON
The Rev. Jackson, who died March 6, was born in Bennettsville, a son of Alice Ruth Hughes Sanders and the late Marrine Jackson. He was a graduate of Bennettsville High School and was founder and pastor of Praise the Lord Ministries.
Surviving are his wife, Diane Bearden Jackson of Hartsville; mother of Blenheim; two brothers, Eric S. Jackson of Wallace, Keith Jackson of Fort Lawn; one half-brother, Richard Jackson of Bennettsville; sister of Patricia McDowell of Bennettsville; half-sister, Leanne Jackson of Bennettsville; niece, Courtney McDowell of Bennettsville. CHRIS CARTER
Mr. Carter died Saturday, March 4. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of Catherine Elizabeth Atkinson Carter and the late James Leslie Carter. He was a kind and considerate person who enjoyed painting.
Surviving are his wife, Donna Evans Carter of Darlington; daughter, Jennifer Keeney of Darlington; mother of Hartsville; brothers, Brian Carter of Hartsville, Brad Carter of Pageland; maternal grandmother, Frances Atkinson of Hartsville.
JAMES JOHNSON JR.
Mr. Johnson died Saturday, March 4, 2006. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of Maysel Mixon Johnson and the late Calhoun James Johnson Sr. He was a loving and giving son and brother and uncle. He loved farming and the outdoors.
Surviving are his mother of Hartsville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Al Lundy of Forsyth, Ga., Jo and Carlos Hanna of Florence, Zora and Al Ritter of Roanoke, Va., Cindy and Bobby Griggs of Hartsville, Vandetta 'VJ' Speckman of Fort Mill, Sandra Clodfelter of Lewisville, N.C., Mary Ruth and Gerald Kelly of Hartsville; brother, C. B. Johnson of Pawtucket, R.I. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Emma Jane Mixon, Doris Janiel Johnson, Annie May Bastek, Jessie Wren Mathews; brother, William Lee 'Buck' Johnson.
