ROBERT W. LYLES JR.
Funeral services for Robert W. Lyles Jr., 54, who died Tuesday, May 23, 2006, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 27, at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Dr. Milton Frazier and the Rev. Ken Hicks will officiate. Burial will be in the Westview Memorial cemetery, directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Lyles was born in Florence a son of Pauline Langston Lyles and the late Robert W. Lyles Sr. He was past musical director of the Hartsville Community Players, past musical director of the Lee County Opera House, was a member of the Bishopville Music Study Club, and served as organist in several churches in North and South Carolina and was organist-choir director at Bishopville Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Surviving are his mother of Hartsville; sisters, Linda (David) Williams, Florence, Ala., Carolyn (Jeff) Sifford, Hartsville, and Paula (Harry) Murph, McBee; nieces, Caroline Belscher, Alabaster, Ala., Megan Murph, McBee; nephews, Christopher Williams, Birmingham, Ala., Lee Murph, McBee.

Memorials may be made to the Handbell Fund, Bishopville Presbyterian Church, PO Box 66, Bishopville, SC 29010.

ALEC 'JACK' INGRAM
BENNETTSVILLE - Funeral services for Alec 'Jack' W. Ingram, 52, were held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2006, in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home of Darlington, officiated by Rev. Mitchell Ingram. Burial followed at 4 p.m. in Brownsville Baptist Church cemetery, near Blenheim.

Mr. Ingram died Monday, May 22, in a local hospital. He was born in Darlington County, son of Carolyn Shoemake Ingram Kinard and the late Kalvis Ingram. He was a dispatcher for Allied Waste and enjoyed watching NASCAR. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivng are his wife, Terri Hardie Ingram of Bennettsville; his mother and step-father, Carolyn and Harry Kinard of Lancaster; two sisters, Fran (Ray) Knight of Lancaster, Chris (the Rev. Mitchell) Ingram of Lancaster; a brother, Ronnie (Kay) Ingram of Myrtle Beach; a half brother, Hank Ingram of Great Falls; several nieces and nephews and David Singleton of Darlington, who was like a son to him.

Memorials may be made to the McLeod Guest House, PO Box 100551, Florence, SC 29501-0551 or the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Ave. N., Myrtle Beach, SC 29575 .

RUTH LEE PERKINS
Ruth Lee Perkins, 89, died Thursday, May 25, 2006, at Morrell Nursing Center after an illness. Arrangements will be announced by Young & Young Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 548 Cactus Lane, Hartsville.

DELL KING THOMPSON
BISHOPVILLE - Funeral services for Dell King Thompson, 80, will be Saturday, May 27, 2006, at 4 p.m. St. Matthew United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the St. Matthew cemetery, directed by Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville Chapel. Visitation will be this evening, May 26, from 6 to 8 at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thompson widow of J. Sory Thompson, died May 25. She was born in Hartsville, a daughter of the late James Hilliard and Vallela Mozingo King. She was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Kathy Drinkard, Bishopville; son, Tommy Thompson, Camden; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

JUNE A. MARTIN
June Anderson Martin, 80, died Thursday, May 25, 2006. Funeral plans will be announced later by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.

ELEANOR ANDERSON
LOS OSOS, Calif. - Eleanor Page Anderson, 95, formerly of Florence, native and long-time resident, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006, near Los Osos, Calif. A family service was held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23.

Mrs. Anderson was the daughter of the late Florida Reese and Earle Cornelius Page of Florence. A graduate of the Florence city schools, she earned a bachelor's and master's degree from Furman University. She taught at McKenzie and Royall schools in Florence and was a member of First Baptist Church. As a charter member of the Florence Symphony Orchestra, she performed with them for more than 50 years.

Mrs. Anderson is survived by her brother, H. D. Reese Page of Hartsville; daughters, Eleanor Lenney of Marietta, Ga., Floride Bartell of Los Osos, Calif., and Margaret Fitch of Aiken; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Anderson was predeceased by her sister, Floride Dubose, and a brother, the Rev. Earle C. Page.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Florence Symphony Orchestra, PO Box 3211, Florence, SC 29502-3211.

ROBERT J. GILLIARD
Funeral services for Robert J. Gilliard were held on Saturday, May 13, 2006, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church at 12 p.m. The burial followed in the church cemetery, directed by Hines Funeral Home Inc. Dr. Frederick Yebuah, the pastor of Wesley Chapel, officiated the service.

Mr. Gilliard was born Oct. 10, 1946, in Hartsville and departed this life on May 8, 2005. He was the son of the late Evans and Della Williamson Gilliard.

He attended Butler High School and upon graduation enrolled in Friendship Junior College, where he completed two years of study.

He was drafted into the United States Army, where he served two years stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. After returning from the army, he was employed by Sonoco Products Company, where he remained until he went out on disability in 1992. Robert retired from Sonoco after more than 25 years of service.

He was a faithful member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, where he participated on the Third Sunday Choir, and was a member of the United Methodist Men. He also served on the PPRC and held the office of Church Historian.

Surviving to cherish the loving memory of Robert Jessie Gilliard are his wife, Linda Gilliard of Hartsville; a son, Robert 'BJ' Gilliard of Hartsville; a daughter, Angela of Germany; two brothers, Evans (Alta) Gilliard of Hartsville and John Gilliard of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sisters, Sheila Gilliard of Hartsville and Carolyn (Vernon) Coursey of Philadelphia, Pa.; one uncle, Mack (Minnie Mae) Williamson; one aunt, Romell (Buster) Love; his mother-in-law, Emma Carroll of Saluda; his sister-in-law, Clementine Smith of Saluda; his brothers-in-law, Floyd (Cheryl) Carroll, Broadus (Daisy) Coleman and Maxie Coleman, all of Saluda, and John (Shirley) Coleman of San Antonio, Texas, and many other relatives and very dear friends.

MARGARET FARMER
Funeral services for Margaret Sturgeon Farmer, 79, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ken Sturgeon will officiate with burial in Darlington Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association, Box 7044, Columbia, SC 29202.

Mrs. Farmer, widow of Robert C. Farmer Sr., died Sunday, May 21, 2006. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Richard David and Annie Bertha Scott Sturgeon. She retired from Mr. B's in Lydia.

Surviving are her sons and daughter-in-law, Alden Farmer of Hartsville, Bruce Farmer of Myrtle Beach, Frank and Robin Farmer of Hartsville; daughters and son-in-law, Carolyn and Ronnie Kelley of Greenwood, Joyce Spears of Lydia; sister, Mary Bailey of Darlington; brothers, Richard Sturgeon of Elgin, Robert Sturgeon of Sumter; grandchildren, Brantley Farmer, Dexter Farmer, Melissa Kelley, Deana Edwards, Rachel Spears, Jason Spears; great-grandchild, Joseph Spears.

SPURGEON ABRAHAM
Spurgeon Abraham died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Young & Young Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 1714 Cameo Drive, Hartsville.

SPURGEON ABRAHAM
Funeral services for Spurgeon Abraham were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2006, at The Church in the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith Inc. Burial followed in the church cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home if Hartsville.

Mr. Abraham died Tuesday, May 16, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. He was born in Lee County, a son of the late Major and Julia Scarborough Abraham. He received his education in the public schools in the area and was a retired truck driver. He was also a member of The Church in the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith Inc.

Surviving are his wife, Bernice Abraham of Hartsville; eight daughters, Celia Mae (Cline) Jackson of Marietta, Ga., Julia Mae Abraham and Carolyn Abraham, both of Hartsville, Liz Gilmore of Thomasville, N.C., Annie Lee (Marvin) Abraham and Pearlie (Keith) Abraham both of Wilmington, N.C., Linda (Vernon) Abraham of Timmonsville, and Betty Jean (Samuel) Abraham of Lamar; four sons, Willie (Maggie) Abraham of Timmonsville, James Abraham and Larry (Beatrice) , both of Lamar, Charles Ross (Yolanda) Abraham of Darlington; one brother, Hilton Abraham of Bishopville; four sisters-in-law, Bertha Mae Boyd of Hartsville, Patricia Ann Boyd of White Plains, N.Y., Pearline Boyd of New York and Betty Keeling of Wilmington, N.C.; 29 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, a host of other close relatives and friends.

MARTIN TRAPP
Martin (Mike) Trapp, 70, died May 21, 2006. He was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, the son of the late Arthur John and Yourdanka Boukova Trapp. Visitation will be Thursday, May 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the residence of Sheila Brodie Trapp, 1343 Antioch Rd., Hartsville.

Surviving are his wife, Shelia Brodie Trapp of Hartsville; brother, Derek George Trapp of California; three children, Kenya Brodie, Danyale Brodie Trapp, Johnathan Brodie Trapp, all from Hartsville; two grandchildren, Alan Maxwell Brodie, Kiel Alexander Wilson, both of Hartsville; a very special friend and his wife Sherrod and Jo Braxton of Tulsa, Okla.

Arrangements were made by Norton Funeral Home.

JOSIELENE BRAILEY
Josielene Mason Brailey, died on Sunday, May 21, 2006, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. The family will receive friends at the residence at 2218 Osleydale Road. Hines Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

CRAWFORD TIMBERLAKE
Funeral services for Crawford Goodman Timberlake IV, 15, will be today, May 24, at 4 p.m. in the Chapel Norton Funeral Home. Dr. Jeri Perkins and Dr. Kenny Lynch will officiate. Burial will be in the Westview Memorial cemetery.

Crawford, who died May 22, was born in Hartsville a son of Crawford Goodman Timberlake III and Dr. Jona Leviner Timberlake. He was a ninth-grade student at Hartsville High School, a member of the Junior ROTC and a member of Morton Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his parents of Hartsville; sister, Anna Lee Timberlake; maternal grandparents, Jackie and Carroll Morris, John Leviner, all of Hartsville; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Timberlake of Hartsville.

GRETTA BRYANT
DARLINGTON - Graveside funeral services for Gretta Register Bryant, 84, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2006, in Darlington Memory Gardens, officiated by the Rev. Norman Mitchell and directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bryant died Thursday, May 28. She was born in Lee County, daughter of the late Brooks Edward and Laura Young Register. She was a devoted housewife was married to the late Jeff Howard Bryant. Mrs. Bryant was a member of the First Church of God.

Surviving are four sons, Jerry (Sandra) Bryant of Darlington, Jerald (Dianne) Bryant of Florence, George (Becky) Bryant of Darlington and Mickey Bryant of Mullins; one daughter, Linda (Steve) Crosby; also, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

BENITA WECKMAN
Memorial services for Benita Clark Weckman, 90, who died May 20, 2006, will be held later in Illinois. Norton Funeral Home is in charge.

WILLIE GHOENS
Funeral services for Willie Chapman Ghoens, 87, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jason Pope officiated with burial in Magnolia cemetery.

Mrs. Ghoens, widow of Colie B. Ghoens, died Saturday, May 20. Born in Hartsville, she was a daughter of the late William Charles and Lenora Belch Chapman. She was retired from Nytronics.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Fleming and Ruth Ghoens of Charlotte, N.C.; daughter, Carol G. Ard of Darlington; daughter-in-law, Patricia Ghoens of Myrtle Beach; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Barnwell Ghoens.

ELIAS WILLIAMS
Funeral services for Elias 'Bunkie' Williams, 85, will be held at 4 p.m. today, May 24, 2006, at Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.

Mr. Williams died Friday, May 19, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. He was born in Darlington County, a son of the late James Corbet and Nezzie Jackson Williams. He received his education in Darlington County public school system and was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Bobbie J. Lucas and Anginola Williams, both of Hartsville, Deborah (Jerry) W. Leslie and Nezzie (Maurice) W. Drewitt, both of New York, N.Y.; four sons, Thomas C. Williams and James E. Williams, both of Hartsville, Harry V. Williams and Gary E. Williams, both of New York, N.Y.; two sisters, Nannie Williams of Hartsville and Theola Scott of New York, N.Y.; one sister-in-law, Rosalee C. Williams of New York, N.Y.; 45 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.

WALTER J. DARGAN
Walter J. Dargan died Friday, May 19, 2006, at Oak Haven Nursing Center after illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Young & Young Funeral Home.
