Mrs. King, widow of Russell C. King, died Thursday, July 13. Born in Lexington, she was a daughter of the late Dr. James Jacob and Mary Fox Wingard. She was a long time resident of Hartsville but has resided for the last seven years at Laurel Crest Retirement Community in West Columbia. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and the Hallie Byrd Circle. She graduated with distinction from Winthrop College in 1932 with a BA in music and was Miss Lexington in 1933. The Lexington County Museum is Mrs. King's childhood home and includes a garden in her honor. Memorials may be made to that garden.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Russell C. and Kathy King of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Rusty King of Jamestown, N.C., Ashley Kerr of Surfside Beach, Scott (Cara) King of Middletown, Ohio; four great-grandchildren.
REV. ROBERT L. WINBURN
The Rev. Winburn died Friday, July 14. He was born in Chesterfield County, a son of the late Curtis Lee and Estelle Hopkins Winburn. He was a former employee of Sonoco Products Co. for 31 years of service and has served as pastor and minister of the Gospel for over 50 years. The Rev. Winburn pastored Bethune Church of God, Chesterfield Church of God and McIver Road Church of God. He was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed. His famous words were, 'Let me tell you what the Bible says.'
The Rev. Winburn was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Winburn Sr., three brothers, J.D., Ed and Early Winburn, and by three sisters, Etheleen Atkinson, Bertha O'Neal and Lottie Steen. Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Brown Winburn of the home; three sons, Verne (Anne) Winburn, Dennis (Sylvia) Winburn and Bobby (Lisa) Winburn, all of McBee; daughter-in-law, Diane Winburn of McBee; and one brother, Coyt Winburn of Myrtle Beach; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

THOMAS T. SINGLETON
Mr. Singleton died on July 14. He was born Jan. 11, 1942, in Fall River, Mass., son of the late George and Evelyn Singleton Sr. A graduate of Presbyterian College, he was a real estate developer, as well as a probation officer. Mr. Singleton was the founder of The SeeWee Foundation, which was one of his greatest passions. He was also instrumental in bringing Outward Bound, a program for at-risk youths, to South Carolina. With his family he attended Christ Our King Catholic Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Britt Haddigan and her husband, Kevin, of Mt. Pleasant; two grandsons, Devin and Tucker Haddigan of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, Bill Singleton and his wife, Margaret, of North Carolina, and George Singleton and his wife, JoAnn, of Winnsboro, N.C.; and one sister, Anna LeValley and her husband, Don, of Salem.

EDDIE A. MELTON
Mr. Melton, husband of Mary Chandler Melton, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 17. He was born on Oct. 29, 1929, in Hartsville, son of Marion Thomas Melton and Lena Gardner Melton. He was past president of the Executives Association of Greater Charleston, past president of Charleston Electrical Contractors Association, former representative of the Association of Independent Electrical Contractors of America, and life member of Etiwan Masonic Lodge. Mr. Melton was retired as the owner/operator of Electric Supply Co. Inc. and founder and president of E.S.C. Elevator Company. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Chandler Melton of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter, Cindy M. Cantore of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Eddie A. Melton Jr., of Charleston, and Steven R. Melton of Round O; four grandchildren, Justin, Trae and Shane and Christy; three great grandchildren, Lexi, Tristan and Cody; and one brother, Fred Melton of Hartsville.

CARRINE GAINEY
VENICE T. LEMMONS
Mrs. Lemmons, wife of Mack Lemmons Sr., died Monday, July 10, in a local hospital. She was born in Darlington County, daughter of the late George E. and Rebecca Grant Truett. Venice was a loving wife and mother and worked for Dixie Cup for many years. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Mack Lemmons Sr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Arthur Mack Lemmons Jr. and Sandra of Durham, N.C.; three grandchildren, Angela Dawn Duty, Rebecca Massengill, Jennifer Ann Price; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eloise T. Michau of Darlington.
Mrs. Lemmons was preceded in death by a grandson, Samuel Harold Lemmons, five brothers and a sister.

GERALD REID
MAZAREE GILLESPIE
Mrs. Gillespie was born on June 12, 1933 in Darlington County. She was the daughter of the late Peter Backus Sr. and the late Rosa Lee Backus. She attended Darlington County Schools.
Mrs. Gillespie migrated to New Jersey and was employed with Overlook Hospital in Summit, N.J. During this time, she met and married
her beloved husband, Nebraska Gillespie, and made a loving home in Springfield, N.J., for her children and grandchildren.
She was an active member of Antioch Baptist Church in Springfield, N.J., where she served on the Usher Board and served in the Pastorial Hospital Ministry. When she returned to Hartsville, she reunited with Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gillespie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Nebraska 'Shaw' Gillespie, who referred to her affectionately as his 'sweet darling, ' her dedicated daughter Ruth M. Powell and her brother and friend Peter Jr. 'Buddy' Bachus.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Mary Powell of Hartsville and Deloris (Dennis III) Jeter of Temple Hills, Md.; three sisters, Stella (Clarkie) Carmichael, Dorothy (Lionel) Overton and Partinola Horton; two brothers, Lee Bachus and Eddie Bachus; eight grandchildren, Elder Parrish (Teresa) Powell of Winston- Salem, N.C., Tech. Sgt. Ernest (DeAnna) LeGrande of Spangdahlem Air Force Base, Germany, Jemell Powell of Trenton, N.J., Camille (Napoleon) Clark of Irvington, N.J., Katrina Jeter of Baltimore, Md., Jason Jeter of Temple Hills, Md., Lateaf (Angelica) Powell of Hartsville and Khaliah T. Powell of Plainfield, N.J.; 10 great-grandchildren, Alex Powell, Marcus Powell, Janay Powell, Derrick Powell, Persia Mary Powell, Mia M. LeGrande, Bobbie J. LeGrande, Ernest LeGrandee III, Tayja Jeter and Xavier A. Clark; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, other close relatives and dear friends.
ELEASE WILSON
Mrs. Wilson, wife of Woodrow Wilson, passed away Thursday, July 13, in a local hospital. She was born in Darlington County, daughter of the late Guyan F. and Myrtle Hammond Lee. Elease retired from James Rivers after 39 years of faithful service, and also served on the Dixie Federal Credit Union Board. She was a member of the Omar Temple's Provette's (Ladies Auxiliary) and enjoyed her grandchildren, flowers and traveling. Mrs. Wilson was a member of Darlington First Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Woodrow Wilson of the home; a son, John Floyd Wilson of Darlington; a daughter, Janet Wilson (Andy) Ward of Erwin, Tenn.; grandchildren, Megan (Mark) Silvers, Robin, Christopher and Sara Currie; a great-grandchild, Jonah Silver; five brothers, Tommy (Jean) Lee of Hartsville, Guyan Floyd (Luanne) Lee Jr. of Florence, Donald Allen (Pat) Lee of Maryland, Larry William (Joyce) Lee of Fort Mill and Ralph (Betty) Floyd of Sanford, Fla.
Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by two sisters, Sara Frances Pritchard and Ruth Lee, and two brothers, Frank and R.E. Lee.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, July 14, at Belk Funeral Home.

JEWELL P. SELLERS
Mrs. Sellers, widow of Henry O. Sellers, died Sunday, July 9, in a local hospital. She was born in Chicago, Ill. on Feb. 28, 1930. She was a loving and devoted housewife, who also loved her dogs very much.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Michael 'Mike' and Dawn Sellers of Florence; two daughters and a son-in-law, Gloria Griffin, Debbie and Danny Stokes, all of Darlington; grandchildren, Khristine Harwood of West Virginia, Barbara (Tim) Davis of Wisconsin, Stephen (Patricia) Griffin of Oklahoma, Elizabeth Kemmerlin, Brandon Kemmerlin, both of Darlington, Scarlett Sellers of Florence; great-grandchildren, Amber Hatride, Derrick Hatridege, Grayson Griffin, all of Oklahoma, Chelsea, Hannah, Olivia Davis, all of Wisconsin, and Bobby and Josh Harwood of West Virginia.
JENNINGS A. SMITH
Mr. Smith died Tuesday, July 11. Born in Hartsville, he was a son of the late Amos L. Z. and Helen Munn Smith. He was a graduate of Hartsville High School and Columbia Commercial College. He served in the National Guard and was retired from Sonoco Products Credit Union and Gowen Chrysler Dodge Jeep. He was a charter member of North Hartsville Baptist Church and Cornerstone Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and was a true friend and gentleman to all who knew him. He loved all sports and was the definition of a 'true fan' to the #43 NASCAR team. He loved hunting, fishing, softball and spending time with his friends and family.
Surviving are his wife, Grace Blackwell Smith of Hartsville; daughters and son-in-law, Paige and Jason Webster, Jenanne Smith, all of Hartsville; sisters and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Charles Dampier of Hartsville, and Teresa Smith of Charleston; grandchildren, Tanner Webster, Emily Webster, Bailee Smith; special caregiver, Ann B. Sams.
BILLY PARNELL
Mr. Parnell died Sunday July 2, at his residence. He was born in Darlington County, son of the late Preston G. 'Buster' and Lois Player Parnell. After serving in the National Guard, he was an electrician for Dupont until his retirement. Billy was a caring husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed singing in the choir at his church, Lamar First Baptist, where he was also a church deacon.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Vermelle Pope Parnell of the home; two sons, the Rev. Michael (Bonnie) Parnell, Chris Parnell, all of Lamar; a daughter, Terri (Jerry) Godbold of Cheraw; 13 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; two brothers, Don (Lettie) Parnell of Columbia, and Larry (Pat) Parnell of Lamar; and several nieces and nephews. BILLIE HUMPHRIES
Mrs. Humphries, widow of Kirven Robert (Bobby) Humphries Jr., died Saturday, July 8. Born in Bishopville, she was a daughter of the late John L. and Bonita Kelly Moore. She was a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Central High School in Bishopville and attended McLeod Infirmary Nursing School in 1949. She was employed with Drs. Price, McLain and Hart Pediatrics and retired from McLeod Regional Medical Center in 1987.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Kirven R. and Mary Humphries III of Charleston; sister and brother-in-law, Minnie and Bob Lee of Hartsville; brother and sister-in-law, John L. and Mary Moore Jr. of Santee; nieces, Virginia Lee of Atlanta, Ga., Lynne and Steve Sauls of Santee, Betsy and Joey Howle of Hartsville; nephews, Chip and Kathy Lee of Hartsville, Jay Moore of Santee; several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gordon Humphries.

Surviving are sons, Hal Morrison of Conway, John A. (Rocky) Morrison Jr. of Patrick, Eric A. Morrison of West Virginia; daughter, Brandy Morrison of West Virginia; brothers, Findley F. Morrison Jr. and Scott Morrison of Hartsville; sisters, Addie Jones of Columbia of Georgia Mae Morrison of Greenville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
