Mr. McCaskill died Saturday, June 24, of pulmonary fibrosis. He was born May 30, 1933, the son of the late Alva L. McCaskill Sr. and Clara Stokes McCaskill. He was the owenr of Lyndale Farms where he bred registered Guernsey dairy cattle for 40 years. He was a 1954 graduate of Clemson University and served in the U.S. Army. A lifetime member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church, he served as chairman of the Board of Directors for the church. He was a life member of the Dairy Hall of Fame and his membership in the American Guernsey Cattle Club brought him world-wide friendships. He received many awards and recognition throughout his life for public service and his profession.
Mr. McCaskill served on several boards, including Farmers Telephone Cooperative, Cassatt Water Co., Lee County Farm Bureau, Lee County Arts Council Foundation, and the Lee County Disabilities and Special Needs Board and Foundation. He was a former member of the Lee County Council. He was a Mason in Lucknow Lodge No. 212 and as a Shriner with the Omar Temple, was a member of the Jolly Jeepsters and Red Fez Club.
Mr. McCaskill is survived by his wife, JoAnne Chamblee McCaskill, and his son, Dr. Al (Karen) McCaskill III, of Bishopville; his daughters, Lee McCaskill of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Ann McCaskill (Lt. Col. Timothy) McIlhenny of Langley Air Force Base, Va. He was also survived by two sisters, Etha M. Bailey of Indian Rocks Beach, Fla., and Barbara Jane Boyce of Bishopville; and grandchildren, Capt. Joshua T. Watson, MD, and Dr. Theresa Martin Watson, Alva L. McCaskill IV, Kristy McCaskill, Amber McCaskill and Micah McIlhenny.
He was predeceased by an infant son, Roger Sheldon McCaskill.

JAMES E. SLIGH

Mr. Sligh, widower of Dorothy Covington Sligh, died Friday, June 23. Born in Darlington, he was a son of the late Thomas Dorsey and Pauline James Sligh. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Mr. Sligh attended North Carolina State University and was retired from Sonoco Products Company with 33 years of service as a machine design engineer. He loved woodwork and enjoyed making bowls and wildlife.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Fran Sligh of Hartsville; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Lee Lewis of Lexington; grandchildren, Will Lewis, Chrissy Lewis and Jamie Sligh.

JUANITA GANDY
Mrs. Gandy died June 18, at Morrell Nursing Center after an illness. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Bennie and Mary Grooms Williams. She received her education in the public schools in the area and was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her dear friends, Mr. and Mrs. Baxter Curry of Hartsville, and a host of many other close relatives, friends and church family.
ANGELA A. POWELL
Mrs. Powell, wife of James 'Jamie' Powell Jr., died Tuesday, June 20, in a local hospice facility. She was born in Darlington County, daughter of Charles A. Andrews and Vera Floyd A. Beckham. Angela graduated from St. John's High School and then Florence-Darlington Technical College. She began her work at the McLeod Regional Medical Center Radiology Department and later transferred to the Radiation / Oncology Department. She loved her work and the many friends she made there. Mrs. Powell had a love for animals, especially her cat, Eos. She was a member of Southside Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her parents and husband are her brother, Charles 'Chad' (Brandy) Andrews of Darlington; a younger sister, Ashton Beckham of Darlington; three nephews, Kyle, C.J. and Chase, and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

JUDY B. ISGETT
Mrs. Isgett, wife of Charles B. Isgett, died Wednesday, June 21, in a local hospital. She was born in Darlington County, daughter of the late Evans 'E.J.' and Amma Mae McGee Boswell. She was a graduate of St. John's High School and was retired from Bank Of America. She was very active in the American Heart Association. Judy was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church, where she was involved with the choir, the Encourager Sunday School Class and the Lucy Smith Circle.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Tim (Sherry) Isgett of Myrtle Beach and Bryan (Kecia) Isgett of Macon, Ga.; grandchildren, Avery, McGee, Zayne, Kaleigh and Reed Isgett; two brothers, Julian Boswell of North Myrtle Beach and Carroll (Patsy) Boswell of Darlington.
Mrs. Isgett was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ann Boswell.

JUDITH B. HUNTER
Mrs. Hunter passed away on Thursday, June 22, at home. She was born on Nov. 16, 1948, in Columbia, daughter to Marion Rhodes Berry and the late Wilmont G. Berry, who passed in 2005. Her husband of 34 years, Roger William Hunter, also preceded her in death in 2005. She was an insurance underwriter for Wachovia. Mrs. Hunter was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Survivors in addition to her mother include, her son, Curtis Hunter and wife Cindy; brother, Otis Marvin Berry; and grandson, Dawson Jacob Hunter.
In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 E. 7th St. Charlotte, NC 28204.
Arrangements for the family are in the care of Heritage Funeral Home, Indian Trail/Matthews Chapel.
MINNIE LEE EUTEN
Mrs. Euten, widow of Charles J. Euten, died June 15. She was born in Hartsville, a daughter of the late Major and Bessie Galloway Grantham. She was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are children, Cindy (Ricky) Howle, Tressie Euten, Ricky (Marie) Euten, Joe (Diane) Euten; sisters, Julie and Ruby Stokes, Barbara Jean Jeffords, all of Hartsville, and three grandchildren.

NED DARGAN
Mr. Dargan died in the home in which he was born Sunday, June 18, after an extended illness. He was born in 1912 in Darlington to Rosa Evans McIntosh and William Edwin Dargan. He graduated from Clemson University in 1934. He was in the United States Army from 1942 to 1947, serving as a captain during World War II, participating in the invasion of France and Germany. He farmed his family's land for 50 years where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an active member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Darlington, serving many years on the vestry and as senior warden. Land and water conservation were great interests of his and he served at local, state and regional levels as commissioner and chairman of conservation committees for many years. He also served on agricultural research committees on the local, state and national levels.
Mr. Dargan was also director and president of the Darlington Farm Bureau for many years and was on the Board of Visitors of Clemson University. For 25 years he served as director of the Farmer's Mutual Insurance Company and he served on the Darlington Board of Education. He received many awards including Conservation Award of the Year by the State of S.C., Outstanding Conservation District Commissioner, Co-op Man of the Year, Man of the Year by the Darlington Chamber of Commerce and he received the Certificate of Merit by the Darlington Soil Conservation District. He was an active member of the Kiwanis Club and of local, regional and state historical societies.
Mr. Dargan was preceded in death by Annie McCullough Edwards, his wife of 59 years; two sisters, Mary Hart McIver and Rosa Evans Dargan.
He is survived by one son, William Edwin (Marsha) Dargan Jr., and two daughters, Rosanne Dargan Brasington and Martha Dargan Harper; one brother, Lucas McIntosh (Frances) Dargan; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. His loving, faithful caregivers were Gloria Harkless, Wallace Eaddy, Joyce Perkins, Gloria Wright, Clementine Gee and Renee Gee.

T. H. DAVIS
Mr. Davis died Sunday, June 18. He was born in Chesterfield County, a son of the late J. Tom and Rachel Deese Davis. He was a retired truck driver with Patrick Auto Parts, and was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Davis was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a member of the Red Land and Ruby Hunting Clubs and the Chesterfield American Legion Post 74. Mr. Davis was a friend to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Davis.
Survivors are a son, Tommy (Shirley) Davis of Ruby; two daughters, Regina D. Jones of Hartsville and Wanda D. Stroud of Rockwell, N.C.; his companion of 28 years, Betty B. Caulder of Chesterfield and her children, Phillip (Yetive) Caulder, Sissy (Harold) Adams and Penny (Cotton) Dixon, all of Chesterfield; grandchildren, Kenzie Huggins, Erica and Cody Wallace, Neil (Michele) Adams, Haley Adams, Richie Dixon, Cas and Calyn Caulder; one great-grandchild, Carson Adams; one brother, E. B. Davis of Rockingham, N.C., and one sister, Janie Crowley of Hartsville.

MIRIAM N. CARTER
Mrs. Carter died Saturday, June 17, at her home. She was the loving wife of Edward (Ed) Kennedy Carter. She was born in Dec. 18, 1923, in Darlington to Harry and Natalie Pate Newsom. Known as Mickey to her friends, she was the secretary at Terry Sanford High School for 25 years. She was a member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church; an active member of Highland Country Club's Ladies Golf Association and enjoyed playing bridge.
She was the loving mother, mother-in-law and grandmother to Edward Kennedy (Ken) , Constance (Connie) and Emma Kathleen Carter of Rocky River, Ohio.
She is survived by three sisters, Sarah King of Charlotte, N.C., Virginia White of Columbia, Rosamond Blackwell (Gerald) of Summerville and sister-in-law, Carolyn Newsom and many nieces and nephews.
Contributions in honor of Mrs. Carter may be made to American Heart Association.
JOHN McLEAN
DARLINGTON - Funeral services for John McLean Wilson, MD, 89, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2006, at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 17, and graveside service at Grove Hill cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home. Visiting hours are 6 - 8 p.m. tonight, June 16.
Dr. Wilson passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on June 14, after a long illness. He was born on June 3, 1917, in Darlington, one of six children of Bertha Lesesne Briggs Wilson and Thomas Evans Wilson. He was a practicing physician in Darlington for 53 years. He was a life long member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, a championship golfer, avid fisherman, hunter and Master Gardener.
Dr. Wilson, with Amelia Talbert Wilson, his late wife of over 50 years, was the founder of Wilson Clinic and Hospital in 1947, which grew over the next half century into the family owned business, Wilson Senior Care, Inc., the parent company of Oakhaven Nursing Home, Medford Place Nursing Home, Morrell Memorial Nursing Center, and Med Center Pharmacy. He remained President and Chairman of the Board of Wilson Senior Care, Inc., until his death. His devotion to his patients and employees was a guiding presence throughout his distinguished career.
He earned a Bachelors Degree from the Citadel and a Doctor of Medicine Degree from the Duke University School of Medicine. He served The United States as a Captain in the US Army Medical Corps during World War II as a Battalion Surgeon and paratrooper in the 517th Airborne Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division. He jumped behind enemy combat lines in Germany and France as part of a team which established a field hospital. He also served with the 13th and 101st Airborne Divisions in the European Theater. His last military assignment was at the Regional Hospital in Fort Bragg, NC, as Chief of the Contagious Disease Section.
Dr. Wilson's many achievements and awards include Eagle Scout, the South Carolina Order of the Palmetto, Darlington's Citizen of the Year, the Chamber of Commerce Professional of the Year, and recipient of the Chamber's Lifetime Achievement Award. He served as a member of Darlington City Council, Mayor pro tem, member and past president of St. David's Society, member and past president of Darlington Country Club, and was on the vestry of his church for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Gordon Wilson; one daughter, Amelia Wilson Craver (Joseph) of Atlanta, GA; three sons, John Lesesne Wilson (Lynne) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Thomas Gray Wilson, MD, (Perry) of Darlington, and Andrew Moore Wilson (Jennifer) of Columbia; one sister, Mrs. Robert Moorman, III, of Columbia, nine grand children, and one great grandchild.
