MARGARET FARMER
Funeral services for Margaret Sturgeon Farmer, 79, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ken Sturgeon will officiate with burial in Darlington Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association, Box 7044, Columbia, SC 29202.

Mrs. Farmer, widow of Robert C. Farmer Sr., died Sunday, May 21, 2006. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Richard David and Annie Bertha Scott Sturgeon. She retired from Mr. B's in Lydia.

Surviving are her sons and daughter-in-law, Alden Farmer of Hartsville, Bruce Farmer of Myrtle Beach, Frank and Robin Farmer of Hartsville; daughters and son-in-law, Carolyn and Ronnie Kelley of Greenwood, Joyce Spears of Lydia; sister, Mary Bailey of Darlington; brothers, Richard Sturgeon of Elgin, Robert Sturgeon of Sumter; grandchildren, Brantley Farmer, Dexter Farmer, Melissa Kelley, Deana Edwards, Rachel Spears, Jason Spears; great-grandchild, Joseph Spears.

SPURGEON ABRAHAM
Funeral services for Spurgeon Abraham were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2006, at The Church in the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith Inc. Burial followed in the church cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home if Hartsville.

Mr. Abraham died Tuesday, May 16, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. He was born in Lee County, a son of the late Major and Julia Scarborough Abraham. He received his education in the public schools in the area and was a retired truck driver. He was also a member of The Church in the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith Inc.

Surviving are his wife, Bernice Abraham of Hartsville; eight daughters, Celia Mae (Cline) Jackson of Marietta, Ga., Julia Mae Abraham and Carolyn Abraham, both of Hartsville, Liz Gilmore of Thomasville, N.C., Annie Lee (Marvin) Abraham and Pearlie (Keith) Abraham both of Wilmington, N.C., Linda (Vernon) Abraham of Timmonsville, and Betty Jean (Samuel) Abraham of Lamar; four sons, Willie (Maggie) Abraham of Timmonsville, James Abraham and Larry (Beatrice) , both of Lamar, Charles Ross (Yolanda) Abraham of Darlington; one brother, Hilton Abraham of Bishopville; four sisters-in-law, Bertha Mae Boyd of Hartsville, Patricia Ann Boyd of White Plains, N.Y., Pearline Boyd of New York and Betty Keeling of Wilmington, N.C.; 29 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, a host of other close relatives and friends.

MARTIN TRAPP
Martin (Mike) Trapp, 70, died May 21, 2006. He was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, the son of the late Arthur John and Yourdanka Boukova Trapp. Visitation will be Thursday, May 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the residence of Sheila Brodie Trapp, 1343 Antioch Rd., Hartsville.

Surviving are his wife, Shelia Brodie Trapp of Hartsville; brother, Derek George Trapp of California; three children, Kenya Brodie, Danyale Brodie Trapp, Johnathan Brodie Trapp, all from Hartsville; two grandchildren, Alan Maxwell Brodie, Kiel Alexander Wilson, both of Hartsville; a very special friend and his wife Sherrod and Jo Braxton of Tulsa, Okla.

Arrangements were made by Norton Funeral Home.

JOSIELENE BRAILEY
Josielene Mason Brailey, died on Sunday, May 21, 2006, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. The family will receive friends at the residence at 2218 Osleydale Road. Hines Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

CRAWFORD TIMBERLAKE
Funeral services for Crawford Goodman Timberlake IV, 15, will be today, May 24, at 4 p.m. in the Chapel Norton Funeral Home. Dr. Jeri Perkins and Dr. Kenny Lynch will officiate. Burial will be in the Westview Memorial cemetery.

Crawford, who died May 22, was born in Hartsville a son of Crawford Goodman Timberlake III and Dr. Jona Leviner Timberlake. He was a ninth-grade student at Hartsville High School, a member of the Junior ROTC and a member of Morton Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his parents of Hartsville; sister, Anna Lee Timberlake; maternal grandparents, Jackie and Carroll Morris, John Leviner, all of Hartsville; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Timberlake of Hartsville.

GRETTA BRYANT
DARLINGTON - Graveside funeral services for Gretta Register Bryant, 84, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2006, in Darlington Memory Gardens, officiated by the Rev. Norman Mitchell and directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bryant died Thursday, May 28. She was born in Lee County, daughter of the late Brooks Edward and Laura Young Register. She was a devoted housewife was married to the late Jeff Howard Bryant. Mrs. Bryant was a member of the First Church of God.

Surviving are four sons, Jerry (Sandra) Bryant of Darlington, Jerald (Dianne) Bryant of Florence, George (Becky) Bryant of Darlington and Mickey Bryant of Mullins; one daughter, Linda (Steve) Crosby; also, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

BENITA WECKMAN
Memorial services for Benita Clark Weckman, 90, who died May 20, 2006, will be held later in Illinois. Norton Funeral Home is in charge.

WILLIE GHOENS
Funeral services for Willie Chapman Ghoens, 87, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jason Pope officiated with burial in Magnolia cemetery.

Mrs. Ghoens, widow of Colie B. Ghoens, died Saturday, May 20. Born in Hartsville, she was a daughter of the late William Charles and Lenora Belch Chapman. She was retired from Nytronics.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Fleming and Ruth Ghoens of Charlotte, N.C.; daughter, Carol G. Ard of Darlington; daughter-in-law, Patricia Ghoens of Myrtle Beach; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Barnwell Ghoens.

ELIAS WILLIAMS
Funeral services for Elias 'Bunkie' Williams, 85, will be held at 4 p.m. today, May 24, 2006, at Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.

Mr. Williams died Friday, May 19, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. He was born in Darlington County, a son of the late James Corbet and Nezzie Jackson Williams. He received his education in Darlington County public school system and was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Bobbie J. Lucas and Anginola Williams, both of Hartsville, Deborah (Jerry) W. Leslie and Nezzie (Maurice) W. Drewitt, both of New York, N.Y.; four sons, Thomas C. Williams and James E. Williams, both of Hartsville, Harry V. Williams and Gary E. Williams, both of New York, N.Y.; two sisters, Nannie Williams of Hartsville and Theola Scott of New York, N.Y.; one sister-in-law, Rosalee C. Williams of New York, N.Y.; 45 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.

WALTER J. DARGAN
Walter J. Dargan died Friday, May 19, 2006, at Oak Haven Nursing Center after illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Young & Young Funeral Home.

LILLIE MAE POOLER
Funeral services for Lillie Mae Pooler, 88, were held Sunday, May 21, 2006, at Unity Mission Pentecostal Church in Lamar. Burial was in St. John's United Methodist Church cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home of Hartsville.

Mr. Pooler died Wednesday, May 17, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. She was born on Dec. 24, 1917, in Darlington County. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Annie Smalls Cooks Sr. She received her education in the public schools and attended Butler High School.

Surviving are her husband, Nathaniel Pooler of Hartsville; 10 daughters, May Frances Poole and Doretha Bishop, both of Hartsville, Verlean (George) Plight, Betty (Jerry) Pooler and Dot Pooler, all of Washington, D.C., Azalee Suratff and Carrie (Lattimore) Bell, both of Sherby, N.C., Retha Mae and Ernestine Mundrow, both of New York, and Pearl (Jason) Pooler Grant; nine sons, Edward (Gloria) Pooler and Bo Pooler, both of Hartsville, Levern Pooler, Henry Pooler and Truford Pooler, all of Darlington, Truman (Fonza Lee) Pooler of Lamar and Davis Pooler of Beaufort; one sister, Pearl Graham of Washington, D.C.; one brother, James Cooks of Hartsville; 65 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other close relatives and friends.

JEAN T. HARRIS
Services for Jean Truett Harris, 59, were held at 3 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2006, at the First Church of The Nazarene. The Revs. John Griggs, Ann Chavis and Mike Blankenship officiated. Burial was in Magnolia cemetery, directed by Norton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Harris, who died Saturday, May 20, was born in Darlington, a daughter of the late Frank Rogers and Cora Andrews Truett. She was an active member of The First Church of The Nazarene and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving are her husband, Roy E. Harris of Hartsville; son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Laura Harris of Hartsville; sister, Linda Hudson of Hartsville; grandchildren, Amanda and Emily Harris of Hartsville; nieces, Dawn Face and Denise Cavanaugh; nephew, Woody Hudson; special nieces, Janice Gainey and Beth Johnson.

Memorials may be made to Helping Hands Hospice, 202 S. Second St., Hartsville, SC 29550 or First Church of The Nazarene, 1909 W. BoBo Newsome Highway, Hartsville, SC 29550.

HELEN CAMPBELL
Helen Campbell, 73, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at McLeod Hospice House after an illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Young & Young Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 1621 Soloman Dr., Hartsville.

JEREMIAH LEWIS
Funeral services for Jeremiah Lewis, 92, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at Harold L. Dorothy J. Young Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Florence National Ceme-tery, Monday, Oct. 23, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home. Mr. Lewis died Saturday, Oct. 14, after an illness. He was born in Lee County, a son of the late Rev. Jerry and Dela Hannibal Lewis. He received his education in the public schools in the area and was a member of Bennettsville Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mable Delane Harris of Hartsville and Peaches Lewis of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sons, Harvey Lewis and Spunk Lewis, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; two nieces, Mary Way of Bishopville and Almetta Scott of Columbia; three nephews, Eugene Bishop of Eastover, David Frazier of Philadelphia, Pa., and Johnny Frazier of Bishopville; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 34 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.

CURTIS LEE GOODWIN
CHESTERFIELD - Funeral services for Curtis Lee Goodwin, 77, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 20, 2006, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Oakland Baptist Church cemetery. Mr. Goodwin was born in Dade County, Fla., a son of the late Henry Frank and Lillie Virginia Hilliard Goodwin. He was a retired employee of Burlington Industries. Mr. Goodwin was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was married to the late Margie Rae Rhynes Goodwin. Survivors include two sons, Curtis L. (Cindy) Goodwin Jr. and Tim Goodwin of Cheraw; three grandchildren, Callie Goodwin, Shelton Goodwin and Aspen Goodwin; two brothers, Frank 'H.J.' (Shirley) Goodwin of Hampton, Va., and Harold (Barbara) Goodwin of Purvis, Miss.; and two sisters, Vera (Doug) Kimrey of Cheraw and Blanche Allen of Hartsville.

BETTY JEAN RIDDICK
Funeral services for Betty Jean Riddick were held Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, at Open Door Church of God in Christ in Brooklyn, N.Y., officiated by Rev. Jonathan Shaw. Interment was in Rosehill cemetery, directed by Derrick C. Jones Funeral Home PA. of Baltimore, Md.

Mrs. Riddick, daughter of the late James H. and Anna Thomas Peterson, was born on Nov. 26, 1943, in Hartsville. On Tuesday, Sept. 26, the soul of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend winged its flight from this world of turmoil, sin and pain to enter into that peaceful and restful place called eternity. She entered through heaven's open doors after a brief illness. Today we pause to pay tribute to that flight and celebrate her final homegoing because we know that our beloved 'BJ' is at rest.

Mrs. Riddick received her education at Butler High School in Hartsville, with the class of 1962, where she excelled in office management. After graduation she relocated to Brooklyn, N.Y., where she worked 30 years in office administration with New York State Insurance Fund and New York City Transit Authority, retiring on Feb. 10, 2000.

She met and married Royal E. Riddick on Feb. 18, 1971. They lived an exciting, fun-filled life among family and friends.

She was the mother of four children, Bernard, James, Pamela and Reginald.

Mrs. Riddick leaves to cherish her memory her children: Bernard Peterson along with his wife, Beth Johnson, James Peterson along with his wife Simone Carson, Pamela Riddick and Reginald Riddick; her grandchildren, Naquan Riddick, Marjani Peterson, Hydeia Riddick, James Nolan Peterson, and twins, Cyer and Cerrell LeGall-Riddick; her sister, Anna Harkless; two aunts, Helen Thomas Brewer and Kathleen Peterson Erby; in addition, a host of nieces, nephews, other close relatives and dear friends.

CRYSTAL CROWLEY
PATRICK - Funeral services for Crystal 'Chrissy' Crowley, 40, were held at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at Bethel United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery, directed by Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Inc. of Chesterfield.

Mrs. Crowley died Saturday, Oct. 14. She was born in Chesterfield County, a daughter of Brian Cassidy and Willie Jean Winburn. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved the holidays and made her home warm and welcome for family and friends. 'Chris' loved spending time with the loves of her life, husband, Frank, daughter, Nikki, and granddaughter Morgan. She was a self taught manicurist who enjoyed sharing her talent with family and friends. Mrs. Crowley was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, survivors include her husband, Frankie Crowley of the home; one daughter, Nicole Crowley of the home; step-father, Ed Outlaw of Hartsville; one brother, William Outlaw of Hartsville; two sisters, Dawn Huggins and Annette Wilks, both of Hartsville; sister-in-law, Jackie (Rex) Hodge of Chesterfield; a nephew, Dylan Hodge also of Chesterfield and special granddaughter, Morgan Oliver of the home.

JERRY ROBINSON
Funeral services for Jerry Eugene Robinson, 70, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Sandy Bluff United Methodist Church cemetery in Bishopville, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.

Mr. Robinson died Thursday, Oct. 12, in McCoy Nursing Center after an illness. Mr. Robinson was born in Darlington County, a son of the late Aaron and Ruth Holmes Robinson. He received his education in the public schools in the area and was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Elease Robinson of Englewood, N.J.; two daughters, Marcella Robinson Stuart of Stroudsburg, Pa. and Armelenni Jones of Charlotte, N.C.; two sons, Frederick Robinson of Englewood, N.J., and Aaron Robinson of Summerville; three sisters, Ara Robinson-Hickman and Wilberetta Robinson, both of Baltimore, Md., and Rosanna Robinson-Moses of Hartsville; two brothers, Wilbert Robinson of Hartsville and George Alex Robinson of Florence; two daughters-in-law, Barbara Robinson of Paterson, N.J. and Ella Robinson of Summerville; four brothers-in-law, James Bradley of Myrtle Beach, Henry Price and Calvin Moses, both of Hartsville, Cordell Hickman of Baltimore, Md.; three sisters-in-law, Jessie Houston of Englewood, N.J., Jean Robins of New York, N.Y., and Bernadette Robinson of Baltimore, Md.; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of other close relatives and friends.

HERBERT PERKINSON
Funeral services for Herbert Ray Perkinson, 72, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at South Hartsville Baptist Church. The Rev. Dave Worthington will officiate with burial in Magnolia cemetery, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends tonight, Oct. 17, from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the South Hartsville Baptist Church, 205 E. Bobo Newsome Hwy., Hartsville, SC 29550 or McLeod Hospice, 555 E. Cheves, Florence SC 29506.

Mr. Perkinson, widower of Mildred Jackson Perkinson, died Tuesday, Oct. 17. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of the late Lee and Ruth Seymour Perkinson.

Surviving are his sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Ted Melton of Rock Hill; sister-in-law, Louise Perkinson of Hartsville; nephews, David Perkinson, Jim Perkinson; nieces, Linda Johnson, Debbie Moore, Becky Daniel, Lisa Sims.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James 'Perk' Perkinson, and his half sister, Rose Lee Winburn
