Mr. Melton died Saturday, Sept. 16. Born in Hartsville, he was a son of the late Raymond C. and Lula Steen Melton. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Melton of Murrells Inlet; sons, Kenny Melton, Spencer Melton and Ryan Melton, all of Murrells Inlet; daughter, Elexis Melton of Murrells Inlet; sisters, Ann Boan of Bethune, Carolyn Rollings of Florence; brothers, Henry Melton and Roger Dale Melton, both of Bethune.

JACK GALLOWAY
Mr. Galloway, widower of Ethel Gainey Galloway and Betty Moody Galloway, died Saturday, Sept. 16. Born in Hartsville, he was a son of the late John Malachi and Alma Snipes Galloway Sr.
Surviving are his daughters and son-in-law, Pamela and Lee Amerson, Angela Galloway, all of Hartsville.
GEORGE C. WILD
Mr. Wild passed away Saturday, Sept. 16, at Lexington Medical Center. He was born on Nov. 16, 1922, in Trenton, N.J., to the late John and Elizabeth Wild. He was a member of the Woodfield Park Baptist Church and a Mason. Mr .Wild retired from the United States Army after 20 years of active service, serving in both World War II and Korea. He then went to work for Dupont Corp. and retired from there. Mr. Wild married
Annie Parnell on Nov. 4, 1956, and has been happily married
for more than 49 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Annie Wild of Columbia; one daughter, Virginia D. Rhodes of Hartsville; two sons, Jim Darnell and Boyd Darnell, both of Hartsville; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren and one special niece, Daisey Misale of Columbia.
MYRTLE DIXON
Mrs. Dixon, widow of Robert Dixon, died Thursday, Sept. 14. Born in Chesterfield County, she was a daughter of the late Charles William and Bertha Dixon Linton. She attended Hebron United Methodist Church and was retired from Stanley Tools. She was a neighborhood mother and grandmother and was loved by everyone.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Lett of Silver Spring, Md., Joel and Delores Lett of Patrick, Bruce and Susan Lett of Archdale, N.C., Ken and Phyllis Dixon and Donnie and Vickie Dixon, all of Hartsville, Terry and Deborah Dixon of Concord, N.C.; daughters and son-in-law, Betty Sue Freeman, Penny and Donnie Mangum, all of Hartsville; sisters, Iona Mae Linton of McBee, Frances Oleta Hoffman of Albermarle, N.C., Alma Ellen Kelly of Kannapolis, N.C.; brother, Carroll Eugene Linton of Kannapolis, N.C.; 24 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her son, Charlie Dixon, and her daughter, Clarice Dixon.

MAE E. WILKES
Mrs. Wilkes, widow of Jesse Malone Wilkes, died Friday, Sept. 15. Born in Kershaw County, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Florence Douglass Warren. She was a member of Wilkes Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Jessie 'Boker' and Lou Ann Wilkes Jr. of Hartsville, James 'Tot' and Charlotte Wilkes of Hartsville, Gene and Deena Wilkes of McBee, Jerry and Abigail Wilkes, and Lawrence 'Pete' and Buffy Wilkes, all of Hartsville; daughters and son-in-law, Mary Lou Hancock and Frances and Steve McKenzie, all of Hartsville; sister and brother-in-law, Rosie Lee and Paul Hostetler of Sumter; grandchildren, Jeannie Hause, Richard Hancock, Crystal Jordan, Joseph Andrew 'Andy' Hancock, Chris Wilkes, Stevie McKenzie, Jeffrey Wilkes, Jamie Wilkes, Heather Howell, Joy Booher, Pamela Dawn Wilkes, Dan Wilkes, Preston Wilkes; great-grandchildren, Josh Wilkes, Kaley Wilkes, Courtney Wilkes, Celeste Wilkes, Makayla Booher, Braxton Wilkes, Noah Hause.
CHARLES RIVERS
Mr. Rivers died Sept. 17. He was born in Hartsville, a son of the late Ross and Mary Davidson Rivers. He was a member of North Hartsville Baptist Church. Surviving are his sister, Christine Brooks of Hartsville; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ernest, Lorraine and Kenny.
MARVIN D. HULSEY
Mr. Hulsey, who died Sept. 19, was born in Hartsville, a son of the late James C. Hulsey Sr. and Cora Belle Perdue Hulsey. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Hartsville Masonic Lodge, retired from Sonoco Products Co. after 39 years of service and a member of the Old Timers Club.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Woodberry Hulsey of Hartsville; sons, Keith (Kim) Hulsey Sr., Joey (Claudette) Hulsey, Chad (Crystal) Hulsey, all of Hartsville; seven grandchildren, Misty Howell, Heather Berdeau, Brandy Hulsey, Stefanie Lamoy, Keith Hulsey Jr., Anderson Hulsey, Georgianna Hulsey; two great-grandchildren, Gracie and Connor Berdeau.

EPHROM E. WATKINS
Mr. Watkins was born in Lee County, a son of the late Oran and Birlie Watkins. He was a retired Church of God of Prophecy Minister, and also retired from Roller Bearing Co. Surviving are daughters, Paulette Darnell, Lorna Mae Johnson of Hartsville; sons, Ethen Watkins of Lugoff, William and Jennings Watkins of Hartsville; 25 grandchildren; 60 great- and several great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Dority Watkins.
GAYLON T. ANDERSON
Mr. Anderson was the son of the late Orlando Anderson and Virginia Nichols.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Charles Anderson and Carroll Anderson and a sister, Geneva Dixon.
Surviving is a sister, Melinda Paulhus of Hartsville.

MARGARET R. DONLEY
Mrs. Donley, wife of Marshall O. Donley Jr., died Tuesday, Sept. 19, at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md. She was born May 21, 1944, in Hartsville. She was employed with the Maryland State Department of Education as an editor.
Survivors include her husband of Columbia, Md.; son and daughter-in-law, M. Owen (Elizabeth) Donley of Washington, D.C.; daughter, Susan Reagan Donley of New York, N.Y.; brother, John Arthur (Betty) Reagan of Spartanburg; niece, Kelley P. Reagan; nephew, John A. Reagan IV, both of Charlotte, N.C., and a sister, Katherine Reagan of Hartsville.
JIMMY SMITH
Mr. Smith, who died Sept. 20, was born in Key West, Fla., a son of Samuel James Smith Jr. and Sue Atwood Smith. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Surviving are his father of Hartsville; his mother of Seymour, Ind.; maternal grandmother, Ada Atwood of Liberty, Ky.; paternal grandfather and step-grandmother, Samuel James and Peggy Smith Sr. of Lamar; paternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Carolyn and Robert Whitted of Hartsville.

WILLIAM C. TOLSON
Mr. Tolson died Monday, Sept. 18. Born in Chesterfield, he was a son of the late Jerold Douglas and Ellen Jane Brigman Tolson. He was employed by Swift-Galey of Society Hill.
Surviving are his wife, Sherry LeBel Tolson of Cheraw; a son, William C. 'Winky' Tolson Jr. of Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter, Suzie Tolson McQuage of Wesson, Miss.; brothers, Wayne H. Tolson of Bennettsville and Ricky L. Tolson of Hartsville; and seven grandchildren.
DOROTHY ELLEFSON
Mrs. Ellefson, widow of Winston E. Ellefson, died Thursday, Sept. 2. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, she was a daughter of the late Theodor and Edith Sorenson Jensen. She was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rockford, Ill., and Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Hartsville. She was a graduate of St. Olaf College of Northfield, Minn., with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She enjoyed family and friends, had a passion for politics, puzzles and reading. Her friends admired her witty insights and contributions in her Sunday school class.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Rebecca Ellefson of Langley Air Force Base, Va., Chuck and Elisabeth Ellefson of Camden-Wyoming, Del.; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Rodney Hopkins of Hartsville, Cindy and Curt Griggs of Hartsville, Chris and Chuck Kneisley of Columbia, Carol and Dale DeRemer of Cuyhoga Falls, Ohio, Cathy and Dave Wirtenan of Stillwater, Minn.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Ken Lukawski of Byron, Ill., Eleanor and Bill Gensler of Davis Junction, Ill.; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

LINDA McNEW
Mrs. McNew, wife of Jack Terry McNew, died Thursday, Sept. 21, in McLeod Regional Medical Center. She was born May 1, 1937, in Widen, W. Va., to the late Orville and Hazel Doris Young P'Simer. -
Among her survivors, in addition to her husband, are daughters, Teri Coleman of Florence and Robin (David) Garrison of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren, Cortney and Stephanie Coleman and Kayla, Jamie and Cory Garrison; nine surviving brothers and sisters; several nieces and nephews.
W.W. 'DILLIE' PLUMMER
Mr. Plummer died Friday, Sept. 22, in a local hospice facility. He was born in Darlington County, son of the late Toland 'Moot' and Nellie Bass Plummer. He was a farmer in the Oates Community and a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Sammie Louise Morrell Plummer of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law, George 'Robin' and Patsy Plummer of Timmonsville, Sammie 'Joe' and Amy Plummer of Hartsville, Charlie Toland and Linda Plummer of Gastonia, N.C., Billy Pierce and Sylvia Plummer of Hartsville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda P. and Robert Stone of Vera Beach, Fla., and Polly Plummer of Charlotte, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, T.P. Plummer of Florence and Jesse (Dorothy) Plummer of Lamar; and a sister, Mary Alice (Ray) Sevarance of Darlington.
Mr. Plummer was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Plummer, a granddaughter, Tammy Saleeby and a brother, L.L. 'Dick' Plummer.
