Memorial services for Cornelia Frances Wilkinson Satterfield, 83, will be held at 2 p.m. Today, Jan. 19, 2005, at Morningside of Hartsville.
Mrs. Satterfield died Thursday, Jan. 13. Born in Caswell County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Samuel Clair and Frances Cooper Wilkinson. She was an affiliate member of Morton Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her daughter and son–in–law, Jeanne S. and David Rudick of Hartsville; granddaughters, Cindy Overton of Keller, Texas, Donna Bailey of Hartsville; step–grandsons and spouse, Brian and Alicia Rudick of Hartsville, Allen Rudick of Summerville; great–grandchildren, Christian, Hannah and Joshua.
ETHEL GALLOWAY
Funeral services for Ethel Gainey Galloway, 87, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at the Brown–Pennington–Atkins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Ray Jeffords officiating. Burial followed in Prospect United Methodist Church cemetery.Ę Mrs. Galloway died Thursday, Jan. 13. Born in Chesterfield, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Minnie Stephens Gainey.
Surviving are her husband, Jack Galloway of Hartsville; sister, Carnell O'Neal of Hartsville; brother, Harvey Gainey of Hartsville.
ETHEL McTEER
Ethel Putnam McTeer, 102, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005. Private burial services will be held at later date. The family will receive friends Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Pat Hughes residence. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves, Florence, SC 29506.
Born in Owings, she was a daughter of the late William Thomas and Anna Riddle Putnam. She and her husband, James Raymond Mac McTeer, retired from Aiken and moved to the Bethea Baptist Home in 1978.
Surviving are her daughters, Jen Franklin of Lakewood, Colo., Pat Hughes of Hartsville; grandchildren, Carl Hughes, Patrick Hughes, David Franklin, Mac Franklin, Andrew Franklin and Sara Franklin; seven great–grandchildren.
MABLE LAVEE
Funeral services for Mable Chapman Lavee, 88, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at Welsh Neck Baptist Church with the Revs. Mark Quigley and Wayne Hodge officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery, directed by Brown–Pennington–Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Welsh Neck Memorial Fund, 112 Church St., Society Hill, SC 29593.
Mrs. Lavee, widow of Howard Pete Waldrup and Raymond Lavee, died Friday, Jan. 14. Born in Chesterfield County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence C. and Mamie Kimrey Chapman. She was a member of Welsh Neck Baptist Church since she was 15 and was a Sunday school teacher, choir member and nursery worker. She was former owner and operator of Waldrup's Soda Shop – Where Good Friends Meet.
Surviving are her sister, Virginia Griggs of Hartsville; numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Leon Chapman, Monroe Chapman, Thomas Chapman and sisters, Louise Carter and Bertha Tilley.
CAROL WILLIAMS
SOCIETY HILL — Funeral services for Nancy Carol Jones Williams, 51, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at Society Hill Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Joan Yates and Richard Banks officiating. Burial followed in Harris Creek cemetery, directed by Brown–Pennington–Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the SC Lung Association, 1817 Gadsen St., Columbia, SC 29201.
Mrs. Williams died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of Nancy Tucker Jones and the late Dick Jones. She was a member of Society Hill Presbyterian Church. She was employed with Galey & Lord for 20 years and was also a substitute teacher for the Darlington County School System.
Surviving are her husband, Ronnie Williams of Society Hill; daughters and sons–in–law, Sandi and James Brunson of Darlington, Ashley and Tad Holliday of Society Hill; mother, of Society Hill; brother and sister–in–law, Robert and Melanie Jones of Society Hill; granddaughter, Victoria Holliday; niece, Ashlee Peele; several nieces and nephews.
SAM L. HARRISON
SOCIETY HILL — Funeral services for Sam L. Harrison will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at Bethesda Baptist Church in Society Hill. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home of Hartsville.
Mr. Harrison, 71, died Friday, Jan. 14, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness.
Mr. Harrison was born in Chesterfield County, a son of the late Charlie and Bessie Harrison. He received his education in the Chesterfield County public school system and was a retired employee with Dunlap Farm.
Surviving are his wife, Bernice D. Harrison of Society Hill; four daughters, Clara Harrison, Patricia Rubin, Johnnie (Charles) Burns and Brenda (Darrick) Sanders, all of Society Hill; two sisters, Shirley Harrison and Evelyn (Toney) Singletary, both of Society Hill; five brothers, Joseph (Luvenia) Harrison of Albany, N.Y., Ernest Harrison, Tobey Harrison, Leroy (Cheryl) Harrison and Roosevelt Harrison, all of Winston–Salem, N.C.; one sister–in–law, Emma Harrison of Society Hill; four aunts, Rosezena Mills of Waterbury, Conn., the Rev. and Mrs. Barbara Squire, Margaret James and Joe James, all of Society Hill; one uncle, Herbert James of Chesterfield County; seven grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other close relatives.
JAMES RUSH
Funeral services for James Rush will be held at 3 p.m. today, Jan. 14, 2005, at Zion Temple Holiness Church in Timmonsville. Elder John Dixon, the pastor of the church, will officiate the services. The burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at the Florence National cemetery directed by Hines Funeral Home Inc. of Hartsville.
Mr. Rush was born in Florence County on June 21, 1948, a son of the late Lowman and Tenner Muldrow Rush. He was educated in the public schools of Florence County and graduated from Wilson High School in 1958. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam conflict. He was honorably discharged and returned to Florence to live. On May 15, 1971, James was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, the former Rosa Mae White. This union was blessed with one son and two daughters. For several years the young couple lived in Paterson, N.J. They later returned to Florence, and James attended Florence/Darlington Technical College and earned an associate's degree in air conditioning and refrigeration.
James was always a hard worker and excellent provider for his family. He worked for more than 13 years at General Electric Corp. of Florence and was later employed by Honda of South Carolina. He was employed there until his health failed several years ago.
Mr. Rush was a lifelong member of the Zion Temple Holiness Church, where he worked diligently as a member of the Trustee Board, the Usher Board, and he also served as the vice–president of the Brotherhood Auxiliary. He also sang with the Brotherhood Choir.
Surviving to cherish the loving memories of James Rush include his spouse of 34 years, Rosa Mae White Rush of Timmonsville; two daughters, Felicia Rush of Florence and Bridgett Rush of Columbia; one son, Rodney Rush of Timmonsville; five brothers, J. Rush, Albert Rush and Troy Rush, all of Effingham, Woodrow (Mazie) Rush of Savannah Grove and Lowman (Solean) Rush Jr. of Timmonsville; four sisters, Alice Rush and Thelma Rush, both of Effingham, Alean Kirvin of Savannah Grove and Rosie (Wesley) Williams of Florence; an uncle, Elder Florence Rush of Effingham; two granddaughters, Courtney Rush and Alexis Rush; other relatives and very dear friends.
GENA RAY COOK
DARLINGTON — Graveside services for Gena Ray Lambert Cook, 79, were held Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at 2 p.m. in Grove Hill cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Doctor Kenneth Sandifer and directed by Kistler–Hardee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cook died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late C. F. and Kathleen Smith Lambert. She graduated from St. John's High School and Broward College. She was an executive secretary for Mass Mutual Insurance Company for many years. Mrs. Cook was a member of Professional Secretaries International and was named Secretary of the Year in 1983.
Mrs. Cook was predeceased by her daughter, Sara Kathleen Cook Brown.
Survivors include her husband, Gene Wayland Cook of Darlington; one grandson, James Gary (Melody) Brown Jr. of Darlington, one grand–daughter, Christine Brown (John) Boyd of Spartanburg; and a host of other relatives.

JANIE M. WRIGHT
Funeral services for Janie Mae Caldwell Wright, 56, were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 12, 2005, at Mill Creek Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wright died Sunday, Jan. 9, in Kershaw County Memorial Hospital in Camden after an illness. She was born in Kershaw County, a daughter of Eva King Caldwell and the late James Caldwell. She received her education in the Kershaw County public school system and attended Deliverance Temple.
Surviving are her husband, Charles Wright of McBee; two daughters, Denise Wright of McBee and Shedrenette Rush of Hartsville; two sons, Marvin Wright of Pennsylvania and Charles Wright Jr. of Fayetteville, N.C.; her mother, Eva King Caldwell of Bethune; mother–in–law, Mary Wright of McBee; seven sisters, Betty R. (Adolph) Jackson, Dorothy L. (Robert) Little, Lillie L. (Bernard) Zimmerman and Brenda (Isaiah) Commander, all of Bethune, Sarah A. (Hubert) Moses, Linda L. (Lee) Jackson and Mary (Herbert) Prescott, all of Hartsville; four brothers, Willie L. (Shelby G.) Caldwell, Willie J. Caldwell and Handy C. Caldwell, all of Hartsville, and Ronnie C. (Benita) Caldwell of Bethune; two sisters–in–law, Carol Wright (Nathaniel) Miller and Margaret Wright, both of McBee; four brothers–in–law, Stanley (Loretta) Wright of Jefferson, Ulysses Wright of Lancaster, Larry (Vernell) Wright of Hyattsville, Md., and Ralph (Evelyn) Wright of Baltimore, Md.; two uncles, Moses (Mary) McDougal and J.C. (Addie) Mae Dewitt, both of McBee; one grandson, Shaquille Wright of McBee; nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.

MILDRED C. MASSEY
BLAKELY, Ga. — Funeral services for Mildred Cannon Hobbs Massey, 84, were held 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at Blakely First Baptist Church with burial following in Blakely cemetery, Dr. Charles DeVane officiating, directed by Manry–Jordan–Hodges Funeral Home.
Mrs. Massey died Friday, Dec. 31, at her residence. Born in Dearly County on Dec. 29, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Dewey A. Cannon and Gatsie Mae Sheffield Cannon. She was a homemaker and a member of Blakely First Baptist Church. She was the wife of William E. Hobbs and J. Henry Massey.
Survivors include two daughters and son–in–law, Patricia and Robert Pitts of Lydia and Julie Massey Smith of Athens, Ga.; four sons and daughters–in–law, Hall H. and Sandy Hobbe, Charles and Holley Hobbs, all of Blakely, Sam and Patricia Massey of Athens and Jim and Madelyn Massey of Camp Hill, Pa.; a brother and sister–in–law, Joe and Lois Cannon of Blakely; 13 grandchildren and seven great–grandchildren.
Mrs. Massey was preceded in death in addition to her parents and husbands by a sister, Margaret Ann Cannon Williams, and a son, Don Massey.
Pallbearers were Mrs. Massey's grandsons.
HENRY D. CHAPMAN
Graveside services for Henry D. Chapman, 87, will be held at 4 p.m. today, Jan. 12, 2005, from the New Providence cemetery, directed by Norton Funeral Home. The Rev. Todd Parrish will officiate.
Mr. Chapman who died Jan. 9, was born in Darlington County, a son of the late Edward Wiley and Gertrude Rhodes Chapman.
Surviving are four daughters, Annette Chapman and Ceil Weatherford, both of Darlington, and Diane Chapman and Janice Gregory, both of Florence; eight sons, Ted, Darrell and Donnie Chapman, all of Darlington, and Dewitt, Alton, David, Dennis and W.C. Chapman, all of Florence; 28 grandchildren and 40 great–grandchildren.
