ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Mrs. Irene Thomas Scott, formerly of Hartsville, died on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2004, in Allentown, Pa., after an illness. She was the wife of Lawrence Scott, also formerly of Hartsville. Visitation and viewing will be held Thursday, Dec. 30, at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 17th and Hamilton Streets in Allentown, Pa. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Dec. 31, at 11 a.m. at the Faith Temple Church, 1117 Liberty St. in Allentown, Pa. Hines Funeral Home Inc. of Hartsville is in charge of all local arrangements.
Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Gee. She is survived by four other sisters, Grover M. Johnson and Harriet Hough, both of Hartsville, and Barbara Mayshack and Angeline Williams, both of Allentown, Pa.; and by three brothers, Eddie Thomas, Billy Thomas and Charles Thomas, all of Hartsville.
GLADYS E. SCOTT
DARLINGTON — Funeral services for Ms. Gladys Earnestine Scott will be held at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 29, 2004, in Tabernacle Worship Center with Bishop C. L. Johnson, pastor, and the Rev. Tommie Lee Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Faith Memorial Gardens, directed by Mitchell–Josey Funeral Home Inc.
Ms. Scott died Thursday, Dec. 23, in a Florence hospital after an illness. She was born in Richmond, Va., daughter of the late Johnny and Gladys Brown Scott. At an early age she moved to Darlington County and received her formal education in the public school system. She was employed with the Darlington County School District, retiring in 1999. She was a member of Pneuma Pentacostal Holiness Church where she served as president of the Pastor's Aide Auxiliary.
Survivors include six sons, Elliott (Betty Lou) Scott, Andrew Scott, both of Thomasville, N.C., Joseph Scott of Darlington, Horace (Linda) Scott of Florence, Larry (Tillette) Scott of Hartsville and Randolph (Lizzie) Scott of Society Hill; five daughters, Josephine (Carl) Bacote of Hartsville, Julia Mouzon, JoAnn Scott, Lola Agbo, all of Darlington, Eileen (Israel) Bonaparte of Highpoint, N.C.; a brother, Floyd Scott of Darlington; three sisters, Dorothy Mae Williams of Darlington, Christine Williamson of Philadelphia, Pa., and Johnnie Pearl McKnight of Baltimore, Md.; a sister–in–law, Rowena Scott of Rockingham, N.C.; 32 grandchildren; 14 great–grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three children, Kenneth, Barbara Ann and Baby Scott, a brother, Andrew, and five sisters, Louise, Jessie, Letha, Annie Bell and Baby Ruth.
INFANT COLEMAN JR.
Dwayne R. Coleman Jr., the infant son of Dwayne Sr. and Natasha Coleman, died Sunday, Dec. 26, at McLeod Regional Medical Center. Arrangements will be announced by Young & Young Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 1203 N. Fifth St., Hartsville.
WILLIAM F. SHUMAKE
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Funeral services for William F. Bill Shumake, 64, will be held at 12:30 p.m. today, Dec. 29, 2004, in Lady's Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis, N.C., with the Rev. Curtis Davis officiating. Burial will be in the V.A. National cemetery, Salisbury, N.C., with military graveside rites by the Rowman Veterans Council at 2:30 p.m.
Mr. Shumake died Friday, Dec. 24, at Northeast Medical Center following a sudden illness. He was born March 26, 1940, in Darlington and was the son of the late Hallie Belton Shumake and Viola Purvis Shumake. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was formerly employed at plant one of Cannon Mills. He also enjoyed training horses and was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include a daughter, Tina Michelle Shumake of Kannapolis; sister, Joann (David) Shumake of Kannapolis; two step–children, John Steven Cooper of Kannapolis and Jeff Scott Cooper of Concord, N.C.; four grandchildren, Megan Brittney Shumake, Jeremy Ray Dixon, Avery Leigh Cooper and Julian Scott Cooper.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Slawson of China Grove, N.C., and Lori Epple of Charlotte, N.C.; a son, Dereck Shumake of Raleigh, N.C., and six grandchildren.
HAROLD BROCKINGTON
Harold Brockington, 51, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center. Arrangements will be announced by Young & Young Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at 406 Sumter Ave., Hartsville.
ANGELA TRAIL
FLORENCE — Angela Angel Morris Trail, 25, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in an automobile accident. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, in the Lamar Chapel of Belk Funeral home with interment following in Lamar Memorial cemetery.
Mrs. Trail was born in Darlington County, daughter of Jerry and Brenda Watford Morris. She graduated from South Florence High School in 1997. She graduated from Cosmetology School and was a certified nursing assistant. Mrs. Trail was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church and then Coward Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her parents of Florence are her husband, Jimmy Trail of Florence; a daughter, Cassadi Morris of the home; a son, Marshall Trail of the home; two brothers, Jerry (Angel) Morris Jr. of Florence and Chris (Toni) Morris of Effingham; two sisters, Crystal (Mike) Jones of Florence and Connie (Tony) Nettles of Effingham; a grandfather, Bunyan PaPa Kiss–I Watford Jr. of Lamar; a number of nieces and nephews.
GUY WHITE SR.
Funeral services for Guy Ancel White Sr., 81, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 29, 2004, at Swift Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Peter Rivera will officiate with burial in the church cemetery directed by Brown–Pennington–Atkins Funeral Home.
Mr. White, widower of Rose Bertone White, died Monday, Dec. 27. Born in Florence County, he was a son of the late Cain Elton and Ethel Marie Atkinson White. He was a member of Swift Creek Baptist Church, the Hartsville Moose Lodge No. 1770, and the VFW. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in France during World War II. He was retired from American Auto Parts. -
Surviving are his son, Guy A. White Jr. of Hartsville; daughters and sons–in–law, Adele White, Theresa and Earl Watford, Kathy and Buddy Chapman and Angela Bonds, all of Hartsville; brother and sister–in–law, Dwight and Bernice Harrelson of Lugoff; 10 grandchildren; seven great–grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Clement Austin White, and son, Christopher Partridge.
LORRAINE B. MACUR
McBEE — A memorial prayer service for Lorraine Barbara Macur, 61, who died Dec. 26, 2004, was held on Tuesday, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home. Burial will be later in New York.
Lorraine was born in Johnstown, Pa., a daughter of Mary Cincheri Sinchock and the late Frank Sinchock. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and worked at BiLo's.
Surviving are her mother of Yonkers, N.Y.; husband, Alexander Macur Jr. of McBee; son, Alexander Frank Macur of New Windsor, N.Y.; sister, Phyllis Kelly of Yonkers, N..Y.; brother, Philip Sinchock, Newburg, N.Y.; one granddaughter.

Barbara Braden Jones, 67, widow of Monroe Jones, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004. Funeral plans will be announced later by Brown–Pennington–Atkins Funeral Home. - Born in Lucien, Okla., she was a daughter of the late John and Blanche Gormon Braden. She was a loving mother, wife and grandmother. -
Surviving are her sons, John M. Jones of Hartsville, Wesley H. Jones of Tacoma, Wash., William Billy Jones of Cary, N.C.; daughter, Susan M. McGahan of Hartsville; grandchildren, Kristen Jones, Sarah Hall, Amanda Jones, Brandy Jones, Angel Hall, Linda Hall, Trina Jones and John P. Jones; great–grandchildren, Briana Hall, C. J. Cummings and Noah Cummings.

Funeral services for Frances Hall Timmons, 80, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at Swift Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Peter Rivera officiating. Entombment followed in Darlington Memory Gardens, directed by Brown–Pennington–Atkins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Timmons, widow of Monroe H. Timmons, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Boyd Marion and Cora Kirven Hall. She was a member of Swift Creek Baptist Church and the Home & Garden Garden Club. She was retired from Ammons & Johnson's Grain Company.
Surviving are her sons and daughter–in–law, Dan Timmons, Don and Lori Timmons, all of Hartsville; daughters, Ann Timmons and Pam Yates, both of Hartsville; sister, Vivian Howle of Hartsville; brother, Woodrow Hall of Hartsville; grandchildren and spouses, Christopher Timmons, Summer Timmons, Donna Laurie, Donnie and Melinda Timmons, Jamie Timmons, Nikki Moore, Robert Little, Denny and Angie Ashby; eight great–grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Timmons.

Funeral services for Effie Blackwell Hodge, 90, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at St. Luke United Methodist Church with the Revs. Ben and Dora Gafford officiating. Burial followed in Magnolia cemetery, directed by Brown–Pennington–Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 302 Dunlap Dr., Hartsville, SC 29550.
Mrs. Hodge died Tuesday, Dec. 21. Born in Chesterfield County, she was a daughter of the late John B. and Rosa Northcutt Blackwell. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, Ladies Fellowship Class, XYZ Club and the Mary Ann McCullock Circle. -
Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Burnice M. Hodge of Hartsville; son and daughter–in–law, Bernie Slick and Linda Hodge of Hartsville; daughter and son–in–law, Patsy H. and Garn S. Capps of North Augusta; grandchildren, Patricia Capps Robbins of North Augusta, Jon Kyle Hodge of Ringgold, Calif., Garn S. Capps Jr. of Columbia.

Funeral services for Gladys Atkinson Layton, 86, were held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at Bible Truth Holiness Church with the Revs. Hazel Mixon and Steven Winburn officiating. Layton
Mrs. Layton, widow of Milton Lee Layton, died Friday, Dec. 10. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Cohen and Pearl Wallace Atkinson. She was a charter member of Bible Truth Holiness Church and a dedicated Sunday school teacher for more than 40 years. She loved farm work, picking cotton and baby sitting.
Surviving are her son, Milton June Layton Jr. of Hartsville; daughters and sons–in–law, Louena Lean Layton, Gracie Mae Tot Johnson, Mildred Mill and Pete Jordan, Judy and Terry Beasley, all of Hartsville; brothers, Ray Atkinson, David Atkinson, both of Hartsville; sisters, Lillian Hayden, Margie Byrd, both of Hartsville, Vivian Staten of Hazelhurst, Ga.; special daughter, the Rev. Hazel Mixon; 10 grandchildren; 22 great–grandchildren; 11 great–great–grandchildren; four step–great–grandchildren; three step–great–great–grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Clifton Atkinson, Howard Atkinson, Marion Atkinson; sisters, Jettie Stratton, Zoradia Hall; son–in–law, Bobby Johnson; grandson–in–law, Robbie Mooring.
HERBERT ALLSBROOKS
Funeral arrangements for Herbert Allsbrooks, 56, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at Harold L. & Dorothy J. Young Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery, conducted by Young & Young Funeral Home.
Mr. Allsbrooks died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at McCoy Memorial Nursing facility. He was born in Darlington County, a son of the late Wesley and Lucille Mingo Allsbrooks. He received his education in the Darlington County public school system and was a retired employee with the city of Hartsville.
Surviving are two daughters, Wanda Scoot of Winston Salem, N.C., and Crandell Allsbrooks of Sumter; five sons, Herbert (Cindy) Allsbrooks of Hartsville, Westley Allsbrooks, Lawn Allsbrooks and George Allsbrooks, all of Sumter; one brother, Willie B. Allsbrooks of Hartsville; two sisters, Roseann Allsbrooks of Hartsville and Rose Lee Jett of Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren and a host of other close relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Kitty Windham Young, 75, were held at 12 noon Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at Westview Memorial Park cemetery with the Rev. Charles Boswell officiating and Brown–Pennington–Atkins Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Young, widow of Jeryld Young, died Sunday. Dec. 19. Born in Darlington County, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Lizzie Isman Windham. She retired from the Jacksonville Court House and was previously a member of Lakeview Baptist Church before moving to Hendersonville, N.C.
Surviving are her sons and daughters–in–law, Jerry (Georgia) Young of Hendersonville, N.C., Jeff (Debbie) Young of Atlanta, Ga., Greig (Karen) Young and Mark (Sandy) Young all of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter and son–in–law, Becky (Harry) Walden of Hartsville; 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Tot Davis, Jeanette Kelley and Renee DuBois.
