OLA ETAUH HALL

Funeral services for Ola Etauh Hall, 77, who died on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, were held on Monday at 3 p.m. at Praise Temple Church.

Burial followed in Magnolia cemetery, directed by Norton Funeral Home.

Survivors include two sons, Randy E. (Denise) Hall and Jackie C. Hall, both of Hartsville; two grandchildren and four great–grandchildren.

PREMAL PATEL

Premal Patel, 32, died on Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, as a result of an auto accident.

Family and friends gathered Monday, Dec. 20, at 4 p.m. for a final tribute at Cain Crematory, 512 W. Second Loop Road, Florence, directed by Norton Funeral Home, Hartsville.

Mr. Patel was born in India, a son of Rameshbhai and Shushilaben Patel. He owned and operated Circle A and 1st Stop Stores in Hartsville.

Surviving are his parents of India; his brother, Ajay (Mita) Patel of Hartsville, and niece, Nandani Patel of Hartsville.

ROBERT C. McCUTCHEN

BISHOPVILLE — Funeral services for Robert Calvin Rob Jr. McCutchen Jr., 83, who died Dec. 19, 2004, will be held today, Dec. 22, at 3 p.m. at Bishopville Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Scott Bowerman will officiate. Burial will be in the Presbyterian cemetery, directed by Norton Funeral Home.

Rob was born in Lee County, a son of the late Robert C. McCutchen Sr. and Lena Rivers Johnson McCutchen. He was retired from the Post Office and was a volunteer with the Bishopville Fire Department for 70 years. He was a life long member and elder of the Presbyterian Church, was active in the Men of the Church, a veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion and a Mason.

Surviving are three daughters, Lena Rivers McCutchen, Leila E. McCutchen and Sarah R. McCutchen, all of Bishopville; son and daughter–in–law, Robert C. (Julie) McCutchen III of Hartsville; two grandchildren, Jay and Amy Beth McCutchen of Hartsville; one brother, Francis W. (Pete) McCutchen of Mamaroneck, N.Y.; one sister, Sara K. McCutchen Burgess of Annandale, Va.

Memorials may be made to the Bishopville Presbyterian Church or the Bishopville Rescue Squad.

SANDRA WARD

TIMMONSVILLE — Sandra McCoy Ward, 61, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at her home.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at First Baptist Church in Timmonsville with interment following in Lamar Memorial cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home, Lamar.

Mrs. Ward was born in Sumter County, daughter of Kenneth McCoy and the late Judy Reynolds McCoy. She was a retired sales associate with J. C. Penney Co. and was a member of Timmonsville First Baptist Church. Mrs. Ward was a good mother and housewife who loved people and enjoyed cooking.

Surviving in addition to her father of Darlington are her husband, Don E. Ward of Timmonsville; two sons, Donald Ray (Tammy) Ward and Brad (Stacie) Ward, all of Timmonsville; five grandchildren, Travis, Courtni, Carson, Austin and Allie Ward; step–mother, Gloria McCoy of Darlington; three brothers, Julian (Linda) McCoy, Ronnie (Ilene) McCoy and David (Connie) McCoy all of Lamar.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves St., Florence, SC 29506 or First Baptist Church, PO Box 148 Timmonsville, SC 29161.

BOBBY ISHMELL

Bobby Ishmell, 48, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, in Palmetto Richland Hospital after an illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Young & Young Funeral Home.

WILLIAM H. ADAMS

DARLINGTON — Graveside services for William Harold Billy Adams, 65, will be held Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Darlington Memory Gardens officiated by the Revs. Gerald McCants and Mark Spurling.

Mr. Adams was born in Chesterfield County and was the son of the late Hadley and Verona Beatrice Reid Adams. He lived and worked in Maryland for 40 years and retired from Giant Food. He returned to the Darlington area three years ago.

Mr. Adams was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Adams.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Cole Adams of the home; one son, William Hadley Adams of Silver Spring, Md.; two daughters, Christine A. (Dave) D'Amato of Olney, Md., and Tracy A. Ripley of Silver Spring, Md.; three brothers, David (Earlene) Adams of Florence, Alvious (Penny) Adams of Hartsville and Ray (Ernestine) Adams of Darlington; one sister, Beatrice A. (James) Cook of Florence; five grandchildren, Matthew Graham, Scott Ripley, Nicole D'Amato, Rachel D'Amato and Kyle D'Amato.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight, at Kistler–Hardee Funeral Home in Darlington.

Memorials may be made to the McLeod Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves Street, Florence, SC 29501.

CHARLES L. JORDAN JR.

Funeral services for Charles Leon Jordan Jr., 76, will be held today, Dec. 22, 2004, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Magnolia cemetery, directed by Norton Funeral Home.

Charlie was born in Darlington County, the son of the late Charles L. and Ivy Hunter Jordan Sr. He was retired from Sonoco Products Co. and was a member of Old Timers Club and the Moose Lodge.

Surviving are two sons, Charles Leon (Lee) Jordan III and Louis Mitchell Jordan, both of Hartsville; two grandsons, Joshua Henry Jordan of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Spc. Jeremy Lee Jordan, USN, Millbrook, N.Y.; and special friend Dee Sherrill of Hartsville.

ANNA MOODY

Graveside services for Anna Lee Moody, 69, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at Magnolia cemetery with the Rev. Steve Henson officiating, directed by Brown–Pennington–Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the McLeod Hospice of the Pee Dee.

Ms. Moody died Sunday, Dec. 19. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Adger and Anna Rhodes Moody.

Surviving are her brothers and sister–in–law, Willie Moody of Hartsville, James and Julie Moody of Florence; step–mother, Martha G. Moody of Lamar; nieces and spouses, Angie Galloway of Hartsville, Debbie and Jack Smith of Lamar, Pam and Lee Amerson of Hartsville, Tina and Dee Huggins of Hartsville; nephews, William Moody of Florence, Gene Moody of Hartsville; great–nephews, Hunter and Tyler Smith of Lamar. She was preceded in death by her brother Adger Moody, sister Betty Galloway and nephew Eddie Moody.

EFFIE HODGE

Effie Blackwell Hodge, 90, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004. Funeral services will be announced later by Brown–Pennington–Atkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends this evening, Dec. 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

FRANCES MAE HINES

Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Mae Hines will be held today, Dec. 17, 2004, at Second Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Greenlawn cemetery, directed by Hines Funeral Home Inc. The Rev. J. D. Blue, pastor of Second Baptist, will officiate the funeral service.

Hines

Mrs. Hines, wife of the late Walter Hines, went home peacefully to rest with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at the Wallingford Health and Rehabilitation Center in Springfield, Pa. She was born in Darlington County on Dec. 3, 1915. She was one of eight siblings (James Bailey, Columbus Bailey, Katie Ing, Lannie McPhail, Willie Lee Tindle, Olena Bailey, Carrie Lee Segars) born to the late Willie Lee and Frankie Kelly Bailey, also of Darlington County.

Mrs. Hines lived and worked in Hartsville for many years and was a highly regarded member of her church and the community. She was educated in the Hartsville school system and began her career as a domestic worker in Hartsville. She worked and cared for many families in Hartsville. Some of those families included: Bubba and Daphne Arthur, Leon and Millie Pennington, Ed and Willie Saleeby, Charles and Sylvia Coker.

In addition, she helped countless other families throughout Hartsville with babysitting and caring for their children until her health began to fail. Although Frances did not have children of her own, through her nurturing and love, she was thought of as a mother by many. She was also a devoted wife to Walter and faithful caregiver to her mother Frankie Kelly Bailey, both of whom preceded her in death.

In 1997, Frances' family moved her to Washington, D.C., where she spent the last several years of her life receiving some of the same love and care she gave to countless others throughout her life. Her family now returns her to Hartsville, the city and people she loved with all her heart. Mrs. Hines was a dedicated member of Second Baptist Church in Hartsville for many years and was highly regarded as a faithful member of the Christian community.

Survivors include her younger sister Mrs. Carrie Lee Segars of Philadelphia, Pa. It was truly a blessing that Carrie and Frances were able to enjoy her last month together at the Wallingford Health and Rehabilitation Center in Springfield, Pa. Her memory will be cherished by her family, which includes her sister, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends throughout the United States. She also leaves to cherish her memory a special daughter Mrs. Holly Saleeby Atkins.

LEO ELLIOTT DOVE

DARLINGTON — Funeral services for Leo Elliott Dove, 77, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 17, 2004, at the Kistler–Hardee Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Revs. Ray Wittington and Kevin Walters. Interment with full military honors will follow at Darlington Memory Gardens.

Mr. Dove died Tuesday, Dec. 14. He was born in Dillon County, the son of the late Walter C. and Pearl D. Dove. Mr. Dove was in the United States Army and the South Carolina National Guard for 37 years. He attended Lake Swamp Baptist Church. Mr. Dove was a man who loved to travel and watch NASCAR racing, but most important of all, he loved his family.

Mr. Dove was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy H. Dove, and two daughters, Mary Anne and Linda Carol Dove.

Survivors include three sons, Bryan (Susan) Dove of Easley, Larry (Gaby) Dove and David (Sindy) Dove, both of Darlington; one daughter, Diane (Dexter) Lee of Florence; two brothers, Roger Dove of Atlanta and Charles Dove of Huntsville, Al.; one sister, Gladys Wittington of China Grove, N.C.; and a special nephew, Bobby Dove of Florence.

The family would like to send their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Kevin Satelle and his staff for their kind and compassionate care.

QUEEN E. EASTERLING

NEW YORK, N.Y. — Funeral services for Queen Ester Queenie Easterling, formerly of Hartsville, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 17, 2004, at Zion Hill Baptist Church with minister Chaneka Pigatt, associate pastor, and the Rev. Oscar Brown Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Foundry Hill cemetery, Cheraw, directed by Mitchell–Josey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Easterling died Friday, Dec. 10, in a New York City hospital after an illness. She was born in Hartsville, a daughter of the late Charlie and Vermae Linton Easterling.

She received her formal education in the Chesterfield County public schools.

Survivors include a daughter, Vanessa (Jonathan) Greene of Darlington; three grandchildren, Ebony, Amanda and Jonathan Grenne Jr., all of Darlington; an adopted son, Horace Graham of Hartsville; a special cousin, Naomi Brown of Augusta, Ga.; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
