NANCY STEVENS

A memorial service for Nancy Stevens, 71, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at First Baptist Church in Hartsville.

Miss Stevens died Monday, Feb. 14, in Dacula, Ga., after battling cancer for 11 years. A daughter of the late Luther C. and Pearl DeWitt Stevens, she was born in Darlington and grew up in Hartsville. She was a graduate of Hartsville High School and Coker College and a member of First Baptist Church during that time. She taught school in Atlanta for 30 years and was a member of Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church in Dacula, Ga.

Surviving are her sisters, Sarah Miller and Constance McBride, both of Dacula; her maternal aunt Jo Brutsch of Sumter; six nieces and nephews; two great-nieces and two great-great-nieces, Miss Stevens was predeceased by her brother, Ralph.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nancy Stevens Fund, Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church, 1450 Pine Road, Dacula, Ga. 30019.

PATRICIA FAYE PATE

Funeral services for Patricia Faye Alexander Pate, 79, were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at the Brown Pennington Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gene Alexander officiated with burial in Magnolia cemetery.

Mrs. Pate, widow of Melvin Pate, died Friday, Feb. 11. Born in Chesterfield, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Fannie Sellers Alexander. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She touched many children as a foster mother and a school teacher in Ruby.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Chandra Pate of Hartsville, Randy and Linda Pate of Florence; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Kent Moore of Georgetown; grandchildren, Lawrence Waters, Alex Pate, Rachel Pate, Justin Pate, Brandon Pate, Skylar Pate, Whitney Moore, Zachary Moore, Matthew Moore; great-grandchild, Ashley Waters. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Pate.

ROSE BEDENBAUGH

DARLINGTON - Funeral services for Rose Singletary Bedenbaugh, 78, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at Indian Branch United Methodist Church, with interment following in Indian Branch cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bedenbaugh died Thursday, Feb. 10, in a local hospital. She was born in Hartsville, daughter of the late John and Maggie Singletary and the widow of Harvin Bedenbaugh. She retired from Darlington County School District and was a member of Indian Branch United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the choir, the WMU and the Lottie Swain Sunday School Class.

Surviving are her children, Phillip Neil Bedenbaugh of Darlington, Richard Bennett Bedenbaugh, Roxxanne Brooks Bedenbaugh, both of Philadelphia, and Mary and Charles Daniels of Florence; grandchildren, Karen Hobson, Kevin, Melissa, Robin, Erica, Matthew and Haylee Bedenbaugh, Charlene and Chad Daniels; sister, Ila Mae Hall of Darlington; daughters-in-law, Libby Kester, Susan Schroer; a loving companion, Coke Pipkin; and a special boy, “Beau” Cumbie.

Mrs. Bedenbaugh was preceded in death by sons, Jimmy, Eric and Kip Bedenbaugh, and sisters, Margaret Waggoner, Ruth Brown and Agnes Hoffman.

NORMA M. MULDROW

DARLINGTON - A graveside service for Norma Pitchford Mozingo Muldrow, 88, was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, in Grove Hill cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Olin Whitener Jr. and directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home.

Mrs. Muldrow, formerly of Darlington and a resident of Presbyterian Home of Florence, died Friday, Feb. 11. She was born in Walhalla, a daughter of the late Charles Wesley and Norma Clinkscales Pitchford. She was a graduate of Lander College and moved to Darlington in 1938 to teach in the public schools. Mrs. Muldrow was appointed auditor of Darlington County in 1965 on the death of her first husband, and served for 16 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Darlington Presbyterian Church and the D.A.R. For many years, Mrs. Muldrow was the sponsor and the pianist for both the Darlington Lions Club and the Darlington Kiwanis Club. She was first married in 1940 to the late Wilbur Mozingo, who was auditor of Darlington County. After his death, she married F. Lowell Muldrow. Mrs. Muldrow was predeceased by her brother, C. W. Pitchford Jr. of Pottstown, Pa.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews and a step-daughter, Mrs. Ginger M. King of Hartsville.

Memorials may be made to the Darlington Presbyterian Church, 311 Pearl St., Darlington, SC 29532.

ANNIE LEE WILLIAMSON

DARLINGTON - Funeral services for Ms. Annie Lee Williamson, 50, were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, in Round-O Missionary Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery, directed by Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home Inc.

Ms. Williamson died Tuesday, Feb. 8, in a Florence hospital after an illness. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Thelma Williamson and Marion Edwards. She received her formal education in the Darlington County public schools and was a member of Round-O Missionary Baptist. She was employed at Wilson Medical Center.

Survivors include her companion, Bobby Hickman of the home; two children, Bobby Williamson and Veronica Williamson, both of Darlington; two grandchildren, Crystal James and Keyonesia Williamson; a sister, Tabitha Alford; two brothers, Willie (Kathy) Williamson and Herbert (Dorothy) Alford, all of Darlington; two aunts, Mrs. Elvira Dixon and Mrs. Suegenia Richardson, both of Darlington; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A son, James Edward Williamson, and two brothers, James Williamson and Marion Edwards Jr., preceded her in death.

ROGER D. DAVIS SR.

Funeral services for Roger Dale Davis Sr., 60, were held Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Norton Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Jackson officiating.

Mr. Davis, who died Feb. 12, was born in Darlington County, a son of Gladys Byrd Davis and the late Alvin L. Davis. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

Surviving are his wife, Cheryl Zorn Davis of Hartsville; mother of Darlington; daughter, Patricia Alexander of Darlington; son, Roger Dale Davis Jr. of Lexington; brother, Major Davis of Hartsville; loved just like a brother and sister, Lavan and Pat Hewitt of Hartsville; step-sons, Eric Jennings of Florence, Bryan Sanders of Orangeburg, Kevin Jennings of Blackville, Christopher Jennings of Windsor; two grandchildren and 14 step-grandchildren.

JONATHAN C. BRADDOCK

FLORENCE - Funeral services for Jonathan Conley Braddock, 25, will be held 11 a.m. today, Feb. 16, 2005, at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Mount Hope cemetery, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home of Florence.

Mr. Braddock died Monday, Feb. 14, in a local hospital. He was born in Florence, a son of Daniel Allen and Celeste Jarrett Braddock. He graduated from West Florence High School and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Abby Celeste Braddock.

Survivors, in addition to his parents of Florence, include his wife, Courtney Sue Braddock of Florence; a brother, Daniel Allen Braddock Jr. of Charleston; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Braddock of Hartsville.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1629 W. Palmetto St., Florence, SC 29501.

TRUESDALE DOUGLAS

DARLINGTON - Funeral services for Truesdale Douglas, 76, were held 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Ted Windham. Interment followed in Darlington Memory Gardens.

Mr. Douglas died Saturday, Feb. 12, in a Florence hospital. He was born in Chesterfield County, a son of the late Ben T. and Dollie Warren Douglas. He served his country with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from Darlington Veneer Co. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Shoemake Douglas of Darlington; son, Charles “Eddie” (Debbie) Douglas of Darlington; two daughters, Wanda (Paul) Gates of Darlington and Loretta (Charles) Davis of Ruby; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Douglas.

ANNIE RABON

BISHOPVILLE — Funeral services for Annie Sue Watson Rabon, 84, were held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, in Springvale Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery, with the Rev. Todd Horton officiating, directed by Kornegay Funeral Home of Camden. Memorials may be made to Springvale Baptist Church Building Fund, 1496 Springvale Road, Lugoff, SC 29078.

Mrs. Rabon, widow of Charlie L. Rabon, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005. Born in Lee County, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Mary Mathis Watson. Mrs. Rabon was a member of Springvale Baptist Church.

Surviving are a step–daughter, Mrs. Christine Gladden of Winnsboro; a step–son, Tillman Rabon of Cassatt; 15 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Turnage of Hartsville and Mrs. Lillian W. Brown of Bishopville; and sister–in–law, Mrs. J. S. Watson of Bishopville.

Mrs. Rabon was predeceased by step–sons, James, Douglas and Heyward Rabon, and a brother, J. S. Watson.

MAMIE L. THOMAS

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Mamie Lois Williams Thomas, formally of McBee, died on Monday, Feb. 7, 2005. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Hines Funeral Home Inc.

EULA MAE BENJAMIN

Funeral services for Eula Mae Smith Benjamin, 77, will be 2 p.m. today, Feb. 9, 2005, at Harold L. & Dorothy J. Young Memorial Chapel. Burial will immediately follow in Greenlawn cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home of Hartsville.

Mrs. Benjamn died, Saturday, Feb. 5, at her residence after an illness. She was born in Springhope, N. C., a daughter of the late Herman and Rebecca Anderson Smith. She recieved her education in the Nash County public school systems. She was a member of Household of Faith Holiness Church in Cheraw, Mother's Board, HYPU Advisor and was also mother of the church.

Surviving are two daughters, Patricia (James) Clark and Vanessa (Donald) Jackson both of Hartsville; three sons, Leroy (Shelia) Benjamin and Richard (Juanita) Benjamin both of Hartsville;, Ronald (Diane) Benjamin of Matthews, NC; three sisters, Doretha Person of Hartsville; Carrie Smith and Virginia Falcon both of Baltimore, Md., two brothers, Dennie Lee Smith and Herman Smith, Jr. both of Baltimore, Md.; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

WILLIE C. MANSHIP

Funeral services for Willie C. Mozingo Manship, 90, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at West Hartsville Baptist Church. The Revs. Tony Hemphill, Scott Brown, and Darryl Bogatay officiated with burial in Magnolia cemetery, directed by Brown—Pennington—Atkins Funeral Home.ÊMemorials may be made to West Hartsville Baptist Church, 1003 W. Carolina Ave., Hartsville SC 29550; Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves, Florence SC 29506; or First Church of the Nazarene, 1909 W. BoBo Newsome Hwy., Hartsville, SC 29550.

Mrs. Manship, widow of Harvey Manship, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005. Born in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Wylie Alton and Edgie Weatherly Mozingo. She was a charter member of West Hartsville Baptist Church and was a member of the Lucile Williams Sunday school class. She was a loving wife of 49 years, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She ministered to friends, neighbors and those in need.Ê

Surviving are her daughters and sons—in—law, Carolyn and Bob Whitted, Wanda Gilbert, Nora Lee and Tommy Copeland, Ann and Glenn Traweek, all of Hartsville; a grandson who was like a son and his spouse, Jim and Sue Smith of Hartsville; sister, Mary Ellen Copeland of Charleston; brothers, W. A. Mozingo of Bishopville, Sidney Mozingo of Sumter; grandchildren, Renee Loflin, Rhonda Brown, Christel Copeland, Charles Chuck Traweek, Sharon Hudson; nine great—grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Tom Copeland and Joni Hodge.

The family appreciates the love and tender care given to their mother during her days of illness.

CORNELIUS WILLIAMS JR.

BOSTON, Mass. — Memorial services for Cornelius Ted Williams Jr., 51, formerly of Darlington, were held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, in Salem Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin Mack, pastor, officiating, directed by Mitchell—Josey Funeral Home Inc.

Mr. Williams died Monday, Jan. 31, in a Boston, Mass., hospital after an illness. He was born in Darlington County, a son of Eva Bell Muldrow Williams and the late Cornelius Williams Sr. He received his formal education in the Darlington County public schools and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from which he was honorably discharged. For a number of years, he lived in Boston, Mass., and was employed by the state of Massachusetts.

Survivors include his mother, Eva Bell Williams of Darlington; his wife, Mattie Williams of Boston, Mass.; his children, Timiko (Reginald) McCall, Lugenia (John) Waiters, both of Darlington, Lovenia Helton of Florence, Misaun Williams, Corlisha Williams and Cornelius Williams, all of Boston, Mass.; a sister, Nina Sheila (Kenrick) Easley of Allen, Texas; a brother, Maurice Williams of Darlington; nine grandchildren; an uncle, William Bynum of Boston, Mass.; two aunts, Martha (James) Cato of Aiken and Edith (Frank) Goodson of Olanta; a niece and nephew; a host of cousins.
