CROSBY, Max
Max L. Crosby, age 77, of Hanahan, died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at a local hospital after an extended illness.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2002, 11 a.m., at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 22, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston.
Born in Ruffin, he was a son of the late Emlom and Beatrice Ulmer Crosby. Mr. Crosby was a Navy veteran of World War II, and was retired from Southern Shipping. He was a member of Tabor Methodist Church in Walterboro and was a lifetime member of Elks Lodge #242.
Surviving are two sons, Richard L. Crosby and wife Kay of Ruffin, Robert M. Crosby and wife Terry of Walterboro; one sister, Essie Mae Padgett of Walterboro and three grandchildren, Brittany Crosby, Kristina Crosby and Kendra Crosby.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 267 Calhoun St., Charleston, S.C. 29401.

Arthur David Willis, Sr., 51, of Summerville, husband of Cynthia Anne Cochrane Willis died Sunday morning in a North Charleston hospital.
A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2002, in St. Paul's Episcopal Church cemetery, Summerville.

Mr. Willis was born on December 9, 1950, in Summerville, a son of the late Ernest Linwood Willis, Jr., and Frances T. Romano Willis. Mr. Willis was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. He was the former President and CEO of Southeastern Steel Corporation, Charleston and founder and President of Southeastern Construction and Southeastern Property Management. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Summerville.
Surviving are, his wife of Summerville, sons, Arthur David Willis, Jr., and James William Willis of Summerville; daughter, Caroline Lacey Willis of Summerville; sister, Mary Elizabeth Phillips of Cincinnati, Ohio.
