Ida Lee Jenkins Summers, 64, of Reevesville, S.C., died Sunday, July 14, 2002, at Trident Medical Center, Charleston, S.C. The funeral will be at 1 p.m., Friday, in the St. Mark Baptist Church. Burial directed by BROWN & SON FUNERAL HOME, will be in Britt cemetery.
Mrs. Summers was born in Reevesville, S.C., a daughter of Mrs. Carrie Stokes Jenkins and the late Joseph Jenkins. She was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church in the Texas Community of St. George, S.C. She was married
to the late Leroy Summers, Sr.
Surviving are, her mother, Mrs. Carrie Stokes Jenkins of Reevesville, S.C., three daughters, Mrs. Carrie (Mike) DeLee of Dorchester, S.C., Mrs. Sandra (Ricky) Govan and Mrs. Angela Folk, both of St. George, S.C. Three sons, Mr. Leroy Summers, Jr., of Miami, Fla., Mr. Canaan (Linda) Summers and Mr. Kelvin (Jamie) Summers, both of Raleigh, N.C., one sister, Mrs. Rosanell Jameson of Reevesville, S.C., one brother, Mr. Joseph (Gertrude) Jenkins of Reevesville, S.C., ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Thornton was born July 2, 1919 in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of Howard Eugene Thornton and Ethel Smith Thornton. He was a graduate of Charleston High School and the College of Charleston. He served with the U.S. Army during W.W. II where he participated in the D-Day Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He retired as Field Representative with the Social security Administration. he was a member of The Church of the Holy Communion.
He is survived by one daughter: Louisa Thornton and her husband Udo Schmidt of Hamburg, Germany; one brother: Charles W. Thornton of James Island, S.C.; one grandson: Cedric Thornton of Hamburg, Germany; two nieces: Deborah Thornton Craig of Summerville, S.C. and Carolyn Thornton Camidge of Morganton, N.C.
