McGINNIS, Atwood
WASHINGTON, D.C.- Entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 13, 2002, at the Washington Hospital Center, Mr. Atwood (Mac) McGinnis, the beloved father of Victor Roger McGinnis (Mary), Maxine Allen (Donilo), Shelly McGinnis, Donna Jean McGinnis, Harold McGinnis (Wanda), all of Washington, D.C.; and beloved grandfather of Kevin McGinnis. He was also the beloved brother of Kathryn Rivers (Melvin) of Charleston; Evelyn Miller, San Antonio, Texas; Dorothy Talley, Charleston; and Hattie Gough (James) and Juanita Middleton (James), both of McClellanville.
Atwood McGinnis was born September 7, 1915, in McClellanville (in the Moss Swamp Section), the son of the late York and Hattie McGinnis. He owned and operated Bacardi's Grill No. 1, a Supper/Night Club on Dorchester Road, N. Charleston from 1946-1958 and Bacardi's Grill No. 2, Roger's Alley and King Street in the late 50's. He later moved to Washington, D.C., opened and owned B & M carryout.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2002, at 12:30 p.m. at Greater St. Peter's A.M.E. Church, Rev. Jerry Smalls, Pastor, McClellanville (Moss Swamp). THORNLEY, Roy
HOLLY HILL - Mr. Roy Michael "Pops" Thornley, Senior, 76, of PO Box 605, 2428 Eutaw Rd., Holly Hill, a retired pharmacist, died Thursday, July 18 at his residence after an extended illness.
The funeral will be 11 AM Saturday, July 20, 2002 in the chapel of Avinger Funeral Home with Rev. Colin Patrick Thornley officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Mr. Thornley was born February 23, 1926 in Macedonia, SC a son of the late Ernest L. Thornley and Maida Tarte Thornley. He was a graduate of Macedonia High School and the University of South Carolina. Mr. Thornley was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was awarded three medals while serving as a Pharmacist's Mate in the US Navy. For forty years Mr. Thornley owned and operated Thornley's Pharmacy in Holly Hill. Mr. Thornley was an avid ham radio operator and a member of the Charleston Amateur Radio Society. He was also a motorcycle and radio controlled airplane enthusiast. He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn "Lynn" Thornley Patrick.
Surviving are his wife, Claudia Ward Thornley of the home; a daughter, Rebecca T. Crider of Holly Hill; three sons, George C. Thornley of Charleston, Roy M. Thornley, Jr. of Holly Hill, and William T. Thornley of Bluffton; a brother, Edward Thornley of Georgetown; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM this Friday, July 19, and other times at the Thornley home.

WEBB, Nicky B.
Nicky Britt Webb, 65, of North Charleston, a retired diesel mechanic with Terminal Services, died July 9, 2002, at a Charleston hospital.
The memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, at the Shield of Faith Church of Goose Creek.
Mr. Webb was born August 14, 1936, at Pine Tops, North Carolina, a son of William Raymond Webb and Minnie Luper Webb. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Ann Green Webb of North Charleston; son, Terrance Jay Webb of Trenton, S.C.; four daughters, Konnye Raye Bennett, Holly Gayle Platts and Nikki Britt Mundy all of Ladson; Jolanda (Joie) Webb of North Charleston; two step-sons, Paris D. Baca of Charleston; Rome M. Green of Columbia; two brothers, Kenny Ray Webb of Pine Tops, N.C.; Allen Webb of Macclesfield, N.C.; two sisters, Jesse Geraldine Edmondson of Macclesfield, N.C.; June Reason of Tarboro, N.C.; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

TILLMAN, III, John
John Roy "Skip" Tillman, III, 64, husband of Anna Watts Tillman, of Charleston died Sunday, July 14, while on vacation in the Bahamas. Born in Charleston to the late John Roy and Mary Blackman Tillman, Jr. Mr. Tillman attended the College of Charleston, was a member of Elks Lodge #242, and former past president of the Optimist Club. He retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard after 37 years as a Project Manager in the Planning Department. While at the Naval Shipyard, Mr. Tillman enjoyed working at the Citadel Athletic Department where he ushered, and participated in other aspects at all athletic events for 37 years. His former wife, Mrs. Patricia Anderson Tillman, and his brother Frederick L. Tillman preceded him in death. Surviving Mr. Tillman are his wife, Anna Watts Tillman, daughter, Dawn Tillman Mills and husband John of Charleston, son, John Roy Tillman, IV, of San Diego, Calif., step-daughter, Leigh Early and husband Rod of Charlotte, step-son, Randy Watts of St. Petersburg, Fla., brothers, N. Milton Tillman, and Donald E. Tillman both of Charleston, and a granddaughter, Kayla Mills of Charleston. MAGDA, Edward
Edward Frank Magda, 70, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., husband of Alice Collins Magda, died Wednesday, July 17, 2002. Born March 19, 1932, in Dupont, Pa., a son of Joseph Magda and Frances Kedrek Magda. He graduated from the Citadel with a degree in business, worked as a loan officer at the C & S Bank for 18 years and was the owner of Shem Creek Shoe Wharf in Mount Pleasant. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force who served during the Korean Conflict, was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He was a member of the Bayview Acres Civic Club, had a love of gardening, and was a lover of nature. He was a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church. WALTERBORO - Senis McTeer (Cy) Padgett, 78, retired Counter Superintendent of Education and farmer, died Wednesday at Colleton Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, at Bethel United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Lee Cothran. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, directed by the FRED PARKER FUNERAL HOME.
Mr. Padgett was born, January 28, 1924, in Colleton County, a son of the late Frederick (Fed) Padgett and Minnie Taylor Padgett. He was a member of Bethel Untied Methodist Church, the American Legion, and a Mason. He was an agriculture teacher for 18 years and Colleton County Superintendent of Education for 12 years. He was a graduate of Clemson University and received his masters degree from Clemson. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are, his wife, Lorene Givens Padgett, two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred M. and Nanci Padgett of Gastonia, N.C., and L. Michael and Susann Padgett of Walterboro, S.C., daughter and son-in-law, Nancy P. and Jim Spencer of Pendleton, S.C., two sisters, Freddie P. Ferira of North Charleston, S.C., and Maude P. Platt and husband Holland of Walterboro, S.C.; grandchildren, Ashleigh M. Padgett, Russell A. Padgett, David M. Padgett, Christopher R. Padgett, Andrew Lanford and D. Chase Lanford.
