CADDELL, Garner
Garner Caddell, 74, of Church of God Road, Macedonia, S.C., a retired dragline operator for Berkeley County, died Monday in a Charleston hospital.
The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning, July 11, 2002, in the Moncks Corner Church of God. Interment will be in Macedonia Christian Church cemetery. Friends may call at DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. this Wednesday evening.
Mr. Caddell was born Aug. 31, 1927, in Macedonia, S.C., a son of Daniel Press Caddell and Janie DuPree Caddell. He was an Army veterean of W.W. II. He was a member of the Moncks Corner Church of God. He was the former owner & operator of the A&G Clothing Store, St. Stephen.
Surviving are, his wife, Amie Wright Caddell; two daughters, Mary Ann Caddell of Greenville and Allison Leasure of Macedonia; a sister, Eunice Catalog of Charleston; a brother, D.P. Caddell of Macedonia; and two grandsons, Curtis Garner Caddell and William Snelson, Jr.
GRANT, Beulah
RAVENEL - Beulah Grant, 87, died Friday, July 5, 2002. The funeral will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2002, in W.O.R.D. Ministries Christian Center, Summerville. Burial will be in Westview Memorial Gardens, Ruffin.
Mrs. Grant was born in Colleton County, a daughter of the late James Rhett Kinsey and Annie Smoak Kinsey. She attended the public schools of Colleton County.
She moved to New York in the early fifties and worked in the dietary department of King County Hospital. After twenty-two years of service, she retired in 1976. In 1989, she returned to South Carolina and became a member of W.O.R.D. Ministries Christian Center.
She is survived by three daughters: Annie L. Gant of Walterboro, Virginia R. Stephens (Algy) of Ravenel and Ella Ruth Jackson (George) of Brooklyn, New York; one sister, Eugenia Murdaugh; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

BAYLY, Margaret
Margaret Bayly, 91, died on Saturday, July 6, 2002 in a local assisted living nursing home. Miss Bayly was born Nov. 11, 1911, the daughter of Bevier S. Bayly and Marie Unfug Thomas Bayly in Charleston, S.C. Miss Bayly was a graduate of the College of Charleston, New York School of Social Work, and Columbia University. She touched many lives and had helped many people as the Assistant Director of Catholic Charities of Charleston, specializing in all aspects of the adoption process, a position she held from 1943 to 1983. She was the last member of the original Girl Scout Troop 9 of Charleston, which met every Thursday until 1995. During the later years of WWII she became active in the South Carolina Business and Professional Women's Club, and became a District Chairman, Vice Chairman and State President. Her deep involvement with many service organizations stemmed from her appreciation of others. She was quoted as saying "I enjoy people and I need to be involved with people." She was a member of Alpha Kappa Chapter of Phi Mu. Miss Bayly is survived by two nieces, Edith Dixon of Charleston, S.C. and Cathryn T. DeCandt of Taylors, S.C.; two nephews, Stephen L. Thomas of Columbia, S.C. and William C. Thomas of New York; many great nieces and nephews; and many adoptive grandchildren.

Myra Villeponteaux Balliet, 57, of James Island died Saturday, July 6th at a local hospital. Born in Charleston to Ruth Celestine Laurey Villeponteaux and the late James Matthew Villeponteaux. Mrs. Balliet was a graduate of Bishop England High School Class of 1961. She was employed with the Medical University of South Carolina serving 23 years in the Trauma Unit as an administrative specialist. She was also a member of the West Ashley American Legion Post. Surviving Mrs. Balliet is her mother, Ruth C. Laurey Villeponteaux of Charleston; three sons: Thomas Chapman Balliet, Jr. of Augusta, Ga., James Lynwood Balliet and wife Karen of James Island, and Jason Lawrence Balliet and wife Tammy of Macon, Ga.; brother, Billy Villeponteaux and wife Rachel of James Island; three sisters: Donna Villeponteaux and husband David Hopkins, Joann Johnston and husband Jim, and Marilu Villeponteaux, all of James Island, S.C.; three grandchildren: Morgan Balliet, Shelby Balliet, and Faith Balliet; and two step-grandchildren: Benjamin Jhantzen and Taylor Wiedemann.

Pearl Stephens Bishop, of Ehrhardt, S.C., wife of the late James W. Bishop, died at her home, Monday, July 8, 2002.
Mrs. Bishop was born December 13, 1923, in Walhallow, S.C., the daughter of the late John Elfred Stephens and the late Maggie Nix Stephens. She was a member of Colston Branch Baptist Church, Bamberg, S.C. She retired from Delevan, Bamberg, S.C. She enjoyed gardening and church activities.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at 4 p.m. in the Colston Branch Baptist Church, Bamberg, S.C. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
She was predeceased by her husband and one grandchild, Shannon Bishop.
Survivors include, five sons, Jones William and Hazel Bishop of Orangeburg, George Gardner Bishop of Ehrhardt, James Elfred and Mary Ann Bishop of Ehrhardt, Glenn Norris Bishop of Neeses, Joseph Jacob and Tina Bishop of Bamberg; two daughters, Peggy Bishop and David Tuten of Ehrhardt, Linda Bishop and Bill Haltiwanger of Ehrhardt; 21 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren.

MILEY, JR., Robert
GOOSE CREEK, S.C. - Robert William "Robbie" Miley, Jr., 38, of Goose Creek, S.C., died Sunday evening, July 7, 2002, at his residence after a long and courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's disease.
Born in Forsyth, Ga., he was a son of Robert William Miley and the late Yvonne Jones Miley. Mr. Miley was of the Methodist faith and was the Parts and Service Manager for Luke's Kawasaki. He was a professional drag racer and was the 1994 "F Class" National Points Champion for the All Harley Drag Racing Association and the 1994 "F Class" Eastern Division Points Champion for the All Harley Drag Racing Association. He also held all four national records for the Pro Stock Class in 1992 and for the "F Class" in 1995.
Surviving are his father, Robert William Miley of Johns Island, S.C.; his sister, Susan L. Miley of Goose Creek, S.C., and his grandmother, Frances Deal Wise of Savannah, Ga.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock, Wednesday afternoon, in the Chapel of James A. McAlister Funeral Home, Charleston. Interment will be private.
