HARRIS, Claude
Claude Harris, Jr., 60, of Beaver Dam, a retired mapping/dispatching employee with Berkeley Electric Cooperative, died Sunday at a North Charleston hospital.
The funeral will be at 11 AM, Wednesday, at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner. Burial will be in Bonneau Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Harris was born September 22, 1941 in Berkeley County, a son of Claude Harris, Sr. and Louise Johnson Harris. He was a member of Betaw Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Tomalie Crawford Harris of Beaver Dam; parents, Claude Harris, Sr. and Louise Johnson Harris of St. Stephen; son, Claude (Chad) Harris, III of Bonneau; daughter, Wendi Howard of Beaver Dam; brother, Barry Harris of Santee; two sisters, Alice Faye Harris and Marie Rush, both of St. Stephen; and three grandchildren

South Carolina Highway Patrolman Corporal Kenneth Jeffrey "Jeff" Johnson, 38, of Moncks Corner, husband of Melissa Dubay Johnson, died Sunday morning, July 7, 2002 in a North Charleston hospital.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2002 at 11 o'clock in Northwoods Assembly, 8717 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston. Burial will be in Plantation Memorial Gardens, Moncks Corner.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 until 8 o'clock this evening.

Corporal Johnson was born on June 19, 1964 in Charleston, South Carolina, a son of Alma Lee Wiggins Johnson and the late Milton Edmond Johnson, Sr.
Corporal Johnson attended Berkeley High School and Fayetteville Technical college. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne Division, having served during the Grenada Campaign. Corporal Johnson had served with the South Carolina Highway Patrol for 12 years and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association. He attended St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Moncks Corner. Corporal Johnson had volunteered as a baseball coach for the last 8 years with the Moncks Corner Recreation Department.
Surviving are his wife of Moncks Corner; son, Nicholas Jeffrey Johnson of Moncks Corner; daughter, Ashton Nicole Johnson of Moncks Corner; his mother of Summerville; 2 brothers, Milton E. Johnson, Jr. of Summerville and Tim Johnson of Goose Creek; a sister, Pat Collins of Ft. Polk, La.

GOUDE, MYRTLE
GEORGETOWN: Myrtle Pope Goude, 76, died Friday, July 5, 2002, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Goude was born in the Center Community of Georgetown County on December 21, 1925, a daughter of the late Irby T. Pope and Eva Jane Tanner Pope. She attended the Pleasant Hill schools. Mrs. Goude lived in the Rhem's community of Georgetown County and was a member of Nesmith Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Senior Sunday School Class and the Women on Mission of the church.
Surviving are: her husband, Lloyd Mack Goude of Georgetown; a son: Jeffrey L. Goude and his wife Becky of Georgetown; a daughter: Jane G. Lacer and her husband Rob of Clarks Hill; four brothers: Irby T. Pope, Joseph W. Pope, Johnny J. Avant, and Wayne Avant, all of Georgetown; two sisters: Alvidda Russ and Olene Avant, both of Georgetown; two grandchildren: Lara "Miki" Barrett of Dacula, Ga., and Holly Amber Goude of Georgetown; and a great-grandchild, Marissa Lynn Barrett of Dacula, Ga.
Funeral services were three o'clock Sunday afternoon, July 7, 2002, in Nesmith Baptist Church. Officiating was the Rev. Craig B. Cribb and the Rev. David Welch. Entombment followed in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Georgetown under the direction of the GEORGETOWN CHAPEL OF MAYER FUNERAL HOME.

SMITH, William
William Epp "Billy" Smith, 76, a retired Conductor with Seaboard Coastline Railroad and husband of Geraldine Mazzell Smith died Saturday, July 6, 2002 in Charleston. He was born September 5, 1925 in Charleston a son of Edna Scharlock Smith and William L. "Boots" Smith, a former heavyweight boxing champion. Mr. Smith attended St. Joseph's Parochial, Bishop England High School and honorably served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard. He received the Navy and Marine Corps Citation for Heroism in voluntarily going overboard the side of his ship into the icy waters of the North Atlantic on the night of March 9, 1944 to rescue survivors of the torpedoed Coast Guard destroyer U.S.S. Leopold. Mr. Smith was a member of Nativity Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of Charleston and 2 daughters: Susan Darlene Smith and Vickie Smith Gorman, 4 sons: William Franklin Smith, Michael Dean Smith, Jonathan Theodore Smith and Steven Craig Smith all of Charleston, 3 sisters: Barbara S. Burkett and Mary L. Burn of Charleston and Kathleen S. Utley of Fort Mill, S.C. 3 brothers: Walter E. Smith of Blue Ridge, Ga., Ronald E. Smith of Boynton Beach Fl. and Joseph E.
