Oliver Wilton McDade, 70, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, July 18, 2003, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosa LeMaster McDade, whom he married on Aug. 31, 1957; their five sons and their families, Tony, Cam, Jennifer and Andrew McDade of Statesville, N.C.; Ben, Sheryl, Chelsey, Lee and Kara McDade of Suwanee, Ga.; Greg, Adam, Daniel and Stephen McDade of Union; Kevin, DeeAnne and Brittany McDade ofAnniston, Ala., and Scott and Christy McDade of Etowah, N.C.; a sister and three brothers, Carol Lloyd of Oshkosh, Wis.; Bennie McDade of Shreveport, La., Bruce McDade of Irmo and Neal McDade of Union.
Mr. McDade was born on Jan. 3, 1933 in Union, the eldest son of the late Oliver B. and Mildred M. McDade. He graduated from Union High School and the University of South Carolina, and served his country as a soldier in the Korean Conflict. For over 30 years he and Brown Fant, his dear friend and devoted business partner, operated the C.P.A. firm of McDade and Fant in Union.
A faithful Christian, Mr. McDade had served as a deacon and church leader at First Baptist Church Union, and was an active member of Mon-Aetna Baptist Church in Union. His family was his delight, and he especially adored his grandchildren. For more than 40 years Mr. McDade was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the South Carolina Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He was a longtime member of the Union Rotary Club, and was honored as a Paul Harris Rotary Fellow.
The McDade family will receive friends at Holcombe Funeral Home tonight from 6:30 until 8:30. A service celebrating Wilton's life will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Mon-Aetna Baptist Church under the direction of the Rev. Benny Green and the Rev. Gary Farmer. A private burial will take place prior to the service for immediate family members.
Wilton's sons and grandsons, along with Tim Mullis of Pickens will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers, members of the Tom Alexander Sunday School Class and the Union Rotary Club will gather at Mon-Aetna Baptist Church at 2:45 p.m. The McDade family wishes to convey our sincere appreciation for the many thoughtful and prayerful expressions of love and support we have received, not only during Wilton's illness, but across the years.
We are grateful to the physicians and staff of the Heart Center at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center who provided Wilton with genuine compassion and first-rate medical care. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home is serving the McDade family.
Rev. John D. Meador Jr.
The Rev. John D. Meador Jr., 45, husband of Kathy Morris Meador of 261 Riva Ridge Road, Spartanburg, died at his residence Friday, July 18, at 205 p.m. after several years of declining health. Rev. Meador was born in Union on Sept. 18, 1957, a son of John D. Meador Sr. of Union and the late Helen Manley Meador. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg.
He was a graduate of the Southeastern Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity Degree. He was a former minister of Canaan Baptist Church of Spartanburg and also associate pastor of College Park Baptist Church in Rock Hill.
Surviving in addition to his wife and father are a daughter, Allison Lea Meador of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Ashley G. and Bryan C. Selepes of Spartanburg; a grandson, Noah F. Selepes of Spartanburg; and four sisters, Brenda Jolly of Union, Hope Deans of Mt. Pleasant, Emily Jolly of Rock Hill and Marjory Meador of Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg conducted by the Rev. Sal Barone and the Rev. T. Dale Lynch.
Burial will be the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Union. Active pallbearers will be David Wise, Mike Jolly, Ricky Morris, Jerry Davis, James Dunn and Richard Meador. The following are asked to assemble at the church Sunday at 1:45 p.m. to form the honorary escort: Randy Jenkins, Roger Gregory, Jon Catow, Bruce Morris, Bob Welborn, Billy Abee and Bill Adams.
The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 and will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Sunday to await the hour of service. The family is at the home, 261 Riva Ridge Road, Spartanburg. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, 250 East Main St., Spartanburg, S.C. 29301 or to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Blvd., Spartanburg, S.C. 29303. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Donna Rountree
LYMAN Donna Grace Grove Rountree, 55, of 601 Butler St., died July 17, 2003, at her residence. A native of McKeesport, Pa., she was a daughter of Emerson John Grove of Lisle Il, and the late Grace McCarthy Grove. She was a registered nurse at Allen Bennet Hospital, a member of Duncan United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and a Girl Scout leader.
Surviving are her husband, John Frank Rountree of the home; a daughter, Shannon Cathcart of Spartanburg; a step-son, Reay Rountree of Charleston; a step- daughter, Frances Rountree Vaughan of Campobello; five sisters, Marsha Davis of Il., Darleen Winkler of Irwin, Pa., Ronnie Caldwell of Toledo, Ohio, Gail Maxwell of Jeanetta, Pa., and Charlotte Kennedy of New Jersey; and three grandchildren, Tony, John and Robert Cathcart, all of Spartanburg.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Duncan United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Elizabeth Thompson and the Rev. David Smith. Visitation will follow in the church social hall.

Brian (B.J.) Eugene Wilbanks Jr.
Brian (B.J.) Eugene Wilbanks Jr. 10, formerly of Clinton and presently residing at 2285 Colbert-Danielsville Road, Danielsville, Ga., died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, in Madison County, Ga. He was born in Laurens County and was a son of Brian E. Wilbanks Sr. and the late Cheryl Donalene Motes Wilbanks. He was a student at Danielsville Elementary School and a former student of Bailey Elementary School and member of First Assembly of God Church in Clinton.
He is survived by his father, Brian E. Wilbanks, Sr. of Gainsville, Ga., one brother, Thomas Jacob Wilbanks of Clinton, one sister, Hazel Nicole Wilbanks of Danielsville, paternal grandparents, Paul and Nancy Wilbanks of Clinton, maternal grandparents, Jean Baker and step-grandfather, Carroll Baker of Clinton, and great grandmother, Lucille Dunaway of Clinton.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, at 2 p.m. in the First Assembly of God Church with burial in Pinelawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the Gray Funeral Home.

Cheryl Motes Wilbanks
CLINTON Cheryl Motes Wilbanks, 31, formerly of Clinton and presently residing at 2285 Colbert-Danielsville Road, Danielsville, Ga., died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at the Barrow Community Hospital in Winder, Ga. Mrs. Wilbanks was born in Newberry County and was a daughter of Jean Motes Baker of Clinton and the late Alvin Maynard Motes Sr.
She was a devoted mother and homemaker and attended the First Assembly of God Church in Clinton. Surviving are her husband, Brian E. Wilbanks, Sr. of Gainesville, Ga.; one son, Thomas Jacob Wilbanks of Clinton; one daughter, Hazel Nicole Wilbanks of Danielsville, Ga.; her mother and step-father, Jean and Carroll Baker of Clinton; one brother, Alvin Maynard Motes, Jr. of Clinton; one step-brother, Gordon Baker of Marietta, Ga.; and three sisters, Dianne Long of Clinton, Angela Groves, of Cayuga Falls, Ohio, and Dee Miller of Union.
She was predeceased by one son, Brian (B.J.) Wilbanks, Jr. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in the First Assembly of God Church with burial in Pinelawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Jeanene G. Crocker
Emily Jeanene Garner Crocker, 61, of 1085 Brown's Creek Road, widow of. D.L. Crocker, died Friday, July 18, 2003, at 1:53 a.m. in Wallace Thomson Hospital after several years of declining health.
Mrs. Crocker was born in Union on Oct. 28, 1941, a daughter of the late Buyon and Ruth Vaughan Garner. She was a member of Philippi Baptist Church. Mrs. Crocker was formerly employed with Milliken & Co., Lockhart Plant; Sonoco Products and Jordan's Hot Spot in Lockhart.
Surviving are two daughters, Utedia Queen Emery of Campobello and Peggy Sue Henchen of New York; a son, James Reese Plemmons of Union; a sister, Peggy E. Fuller of Birdsville, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Jesse Fleming, Jacob Fleming and Josh Henchen; six step-grandchildren, Misty Queen, Sherry James, Brian Queen, Kacie Inabinett, Chris Smith, and Lee Crocker; a great-granddaughter, Hailey Rhinehardt; a step-son, David Crocker of Spartanburg; four step-great-grandchildren, Abagaile Lawson, Charnar Inabinett, Haven Clark, Kyleigh Clark; and two special aunts, Lucille Garner and Amogene Vaughan.
Mrs. Crocker was predeceased by three sisters and three brothers, Diane Garner, Eva Kingdom, Mary Sue Garner, Charles Garner, Sammy Garner and David Garner; and a step-son, Lee Crocker. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Brad Goodale, the Rev. Ben McLaughlin and the Rev. Brandon Bailey. Burial was in Union Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers were Keith Queen, James Fleming, Ernie Kendrick, Johnny Fleming, Daryl Roberts and Eddie Gibson. The following were asked to assemble at the church Sunday at 1:45 p.m. to form the honorary escort: Members of Philippi Church, Neighbors on Brown's Creek Church Road, members of Lockhart First Baptist Church; members of Christian Fellowship Church, members of Mt. Joy Baptist Church, ICE Unit employees; first and third floor South and North nurses of Wallace Thomson Hospital and Walker Davis.
The following special friends were asked to sit in a group: Virginia Foster, Pearl Crocker, Shirley and Ken Fox, Carol and Bobby Keisler, Cindy Toney, Kyle Harris, Nelson and Wendy Fowler, Susan Harris, Juanita Reynolds, Doris Burrell, Meshia White and Frank and Grace Sims. The body remained at the funeral home where the family received friends Satuday night from 7 until 9 and was placed in the church at 1 p.m. Sunday to await the hour of service.
The family is at the home, 1085 Brown's Creek Church Road, Union. Memorials may be made to Philippi Baptist Church Building Fund, 327 Philippi Church Road, Union, S.C. 29379. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Barry Joe Henderson
WHITMIRE Barry Joe Henderson, 42, of Los Angles Calif., a native of Whitmire, died Thursday, July 17, 2003 in Los Angeles. Mr. Henderson was born in Newberry County, the son of Mrs. Hattie Dawkins Henderson and the late John D. Henderson of Whitmire. He was a 1978 graduate of Whitmire High School and a member of the Greater Beth Community Baptist Church of Los Angles.
Surviving in addition to his mother are six children, two step-children; three brothers, Terry Lewis Henderson, of Whitmire, John Michael (Sandra) Henderson of Jonesboro, Ga., and TSGT Lee Coleman Henderson of Hampton, Va.; five sisters, Notre Anne Henderson of Philadelphia, Pa., Mahala Marie Henderson of Whitmire and Tracey H. (Alfonza) Walker of Los Angles, Teresa H. Mack of Greenville and Shirley W. (Melvin) Kelly of Orangeburg; two grandchildren, three uncles, three aunts, nine nieces, four nephews, two devoted friends, Joe Kent Hunter and the Rev. Claude Anthony Wallace; countless cousins and other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, at Seekwell Baptist Church, Maybinton, by the Rev. C.A. Wallace. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall. The local family is at the home of his mother, Hattie D. Henderson, 480 Duckett Ave., Whitmire. The service is under the direction of Sanders-Thompson of Clinton.
