WATTS, Lawson
The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Lawson T. "Red" Watts, are invited to attend the funeral services of the former, Friday at eleven o'clock at the graveside in Holy Cross cemetery.
Mr. Watts was born April 23, 1925 in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of Lawson T. Watts, , Sr. and Annie Faye Sherman Watts. He was a retired retail merchant. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi and a member of the Forest Hill Masonic Lodge #619, Scottish Rites Bodies; Wahabi Temple and member of Wahabi Temple drum corps. He was past Patron of the Jackson Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star #47, Past Rainbow Dad, Capitol Assembly #9, the Good Sam Travel Club, International, Past President of the Dixieland Good Sam Travel Club and Past President of the Second Chance Travel Club of Mississippi.
Mr. Watts is survived by his wife, Sybil Quattlebaum Watts of Jackson, MS, two brothers, Henry Watts of Virginia Beach, VA., and Frank Watts of Birmingham, MS.

WEAVER, Harold
Harold Anthony Weaver, Sr. 73, died July 1, 2002 at his home in Mt. Pleasant. The husband of Barbara Marino Weaver, he was born in Charleston, S.C. and was the son of the late Robert and Beatrice Bolchoz Weaver. Mr. Weaver was a graduate of Bishop England High School, Class of 1946, a retired regional sales manager of B and B Chemical Company, a member of the Board of Directors of the East Cooper Boys Club, and an avid golfer, he was a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Weaver; two sons: Dr. Harold A. Weaver, Jr. and his wife Dr. Debbie Lakin Weaver of Baltimore, MD.; Jerry Joseph Weaver and his wife Karen Cronan, Weaver of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter, Lisa Beatrice Weaver of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers: Larry Weaver of Charleston, S.C. and Michael Weaver, Jacksonville, FLA; and one sister, Shirley Cordray, Albany, GA; three grandsons: Alex, Eric, and Daniel Weaver; and one granddaughter, Katie Weaver. He was pre deceased by three brothers: Robert, Butch, and Dale Weaver; and four sisters: Dolores Williams, Veronica Cockcroft, Geneste Weaver, and Theresa Burke. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 5th, 11 a.m. at Christ Our King Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. MOORE, James
Captain James Rodgers Moore, USN, Retired, 70, died Sunday, June 30, 2002 at his home in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. Born January 1, 1932, in Sapps, ALA., Captain Moore was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James B. Moore. He joined the Navy as an enlisted man following graduation from Aliceville High School in 1949. To highlight only a few of his many accomplishments in more than 30 years active duty, he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, commanded two conventional submarines, commissioned the Navy's first all new SSN 688 class nuclear submarines squadron, and served as Plans Officer for the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations. Following his retirement, Capt. Moore earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Suffolk University Law School, Boston, MA. He spent much of his time as a Master Gardener in Mount Pleasant. Survivors include his wife, Jacquelyn Moore, Mt. Pleasant, one son, David Spencer Moore, Virginia Beach, VA., two daughters, Jennifer Susan Moore, Alexandria, VA., Jessica Marie Moore, Bogota, N.J., two brothers, James Gilbert Moore, Aliceville, ALA., James Britt Moore, Jr., Northport, ALA., four sisters, Frances Harrice Rogers, Tuscaloosa, ALA., Lonnie Evelyn Sheppard, Tuscaloosa, ALA., Jannett Moore Crawford, Northport, ALA., Helen Sarah Boston, Pensacola, FLA., and two grandchildren, James and Nicole Beauchamp. Services will be held Monday, July 8, 11 AM, at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest cemetery in Sapps, Alabama. HUCKS, Willie
Willie Junior Hucks, age 71, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002 at Kingston Nursing Center. Mr. Hucks was born in Conway a son of the late Willie Lamar "Cox" and Carrie Bell Hyman Hucks. He was a member of Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Chuch and was a US Army Veteran. Prior to retirement, he worked for Aberdeen Manufacturing for over 20 years. Surviving are his wife, Lavinia L. Hucks of Conway; one son Ernest Junior Hucks of Little River and one daughter Glenda Lee Hucks Stanley of Conway; two brothers, Bobby Hucks and Jimmy Hucks both of Charleston; four sisters, Geraldine Rozier and Sylvia Jo Prosser both of Charleston, Betty Jones and Lila Mae Harrelson both of Kingstree, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Friday at Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, directed by GOLDFINCH FUNERAL HOME, Conway chapel. The family will receive friends after 4:00 PM Thursday at the church.

Master Sergeant Bobby Joe Williams, U.S. Air Force (Ret.), 65, of Summerville and husband of Janice Stldham-Williams died Monday evening at his residence. Mr. Williams was born on January 10, 1937 in Danville, VA, a son of Josey Early Williams Folkes of Danville, VA and the late Wallace Williams. He attended schools in Danville, VA and was a retired Supervisor with the Charleston Air Force Base. He was member of Pelham United Methodist Church in Danville, VA.
Surviving are: his wife of Summerville, his mother of Danville, VA. Daughters; Beth Hartness of Greensboro, NC, Lisa Stephenson of Summerville; stepsons; Jeff McCormick of Chapin, Jay McCormick of Mt. Pleasant; 3 granddaughters; sister; Sara Gerringer of Pelham, NC.

Richard Alan Wood age 57, of 942 Dickinson St. Bamberg, S.C. 29003. Born February 19, 1945 in Merced California. Died July 1, 2002 at 7:45 a.m. at Providence Hospital, Columbia, S.C. Wife Leigh Wood. Parents of the late Weldon Wood and the late Vera Waller Wood. Mr. Richard Alan Wood retired from Postal Service, as a Tax Preparer. His personal activities is Book-Keeping on Tax preparing, avid Collector of Esoteric Memorabilia. SWAILS, Rosa
Rosa W. Swails 92 of 405 Lakeview Drive in Summerville, S.C. died Sunday June 30th at her home. She was born in Richland County S.C. on June 25, 1910 a daughter of the late Henry and Ollie McCombs Wiggins. She was preceded in death by her husband Everette Clayton Swails June 23, 1998. She was a homemaker.
Funeral Services will be conduced Wednesday July 3, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at Watson King Chapel in Rockingham with the Rev. Harris Jordan officiating. Burial will follow at Eastside cemetery.
Surviving are one daughter Ray Barber of Murrells Inlet S.C.; two granddaughters Donna McIntosh and husband Frank of Summerville S.C. where she made her home for the last 6 years. Sandy Gallagher of Murrells Inlet and one grandson Gene Neel and wife Lisa of Pasadena Texas. Four great-granddaughters Shelly McIntosh, Hannah McIntosh, Katie Gallagher, and Courtney Gallagher, and two great-grandson Clayton McIntosh and Tyler Neel.

Mr. Blake died Monday, July 1, 2002, in Columbia, S.C. after a courageous six year battle with cancer. Born June 28, 1929, he was the son of the late Lt. Col. Paul M. Blake and Ruby Forrester Blake. He was a member of Shandon United Methodist Church. Mr. Blake served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Furman University, completing his degree in two years nine months. He began his career as a salesman for Rice Music House, Greenville, S.C. then became the manager of Rice Music House, Spartanburg, S.C. In 1967 he came to Columbia to become vice-president of a family firm, Lee Transport Equipment, Inc. retiring in 1997.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Betty Lee Blake; son and daughter-in-law, Brian C. and Tammy M. Blake of Lexington, S.C.; grandchildren, Erica Nicole and Christopher Collin Blake; and brother and sister-in-law, Wayne D. and Margaret M. Blake of Astoria, Oregon.

Jeanette Gunnells Burbage, 43, of Moncks Corner, S.C., died Monday in a Moncks Corner hospital. Mrs. Burbage was born July 21, 1958, in Charleston, S.C. a daughter of William E. Gunnells, Sr., and Lillian Clark Read. She was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Whitesville Volunteer Fire Department. She attended Berkeley High School. Her stepmother, Alberta Mitchell Gunnells, and a granddaughter, Patience Denis Butler, preceded her in death.
Surviving are, her husband, W. James Burbage, Sr.; her father of Moncks Corner; her mother of John's Island; two daughters, Denise Butler of Moncks Corner and Peggy Jacobs of Summerville; two sons, William James Burgage, Jr., of Moncks Corner and James "Bobby" Jacobs of St. Stephen; three sisters, Catherine Cadden and Lillian Butler both of John's Island, and Bobbie Jo Patrick of North Carolina; two brothers, William E. Gunnells, Jr., of Moncks Corner and Eddie Adkins of Atlanta; and three grandchildren.
GRUBBS, Mary
KINGSTREE - Mary Lucille White Grubbs, 88, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 02, 2002 after a short illness at the Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, John R. Grubbs, Sr. Mrs. Grubbs was born August 10, 1913 in Camden, S.C., a daughter of the late Asbury Britton White and Mrs. Amanda Peebles White. She attended the public schools of Lee County, S.C. and was an honor graduate of Columbia College. She taught in the public schools of Barnwell and Williamsburg Counties for 31 years. In addition, she taught Sunday School for 62 years, mostly at the First Baptist Church in Kingstree, and was a member of the Mary Grubbs Circle. She is survived by a son, John R. Grubbs, Jr. and his wife, Vivian of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and a daughter, Mary Gayle G. Stoll, wife of Philip H. Stoll II, of Whiteville, NC. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Brittany Lane Grubbs, John Phillip Stoll and wife LaDonna H. Stoll, John R. Grubbs III and wife Mary R. Grubbs, and William David Stoll and fiancé, Mary Ellen Bolin; one great-grandchild, Ethan Garrett Stoll. In addition, she is survived by three sisters; Mrs. Julia Paciulan of Sumter, S.C., Mrs. Margaret Joyner of Florence, S.C. and Mrs. Alma Moore of Dalzell, S.C. Memorials may be made to the John R.
