NICHOLAS, Juanita
Juanita Alline Nicholas, 65, wife of Kermit L. Nicholas of Summerville, S.C., died Thursday, June 27, 2002 at a Charleston hospital.
Graveside services will be held Sunday afternoon, June 30, 2002 at Plantation Memorial Gardens at 4:30 p.m. Friends may call at Parks Funeral Home, Summerville, S.C. Saturday evening from 6-9 o'clock.
Mrs. Nicholas was born February 7, 1937 in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of Grover C. Stevens and Dorothy Crawford Stevens. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Kermit L. Nicholas, three sons, Kevin Nicholas, Kent Nicholas, Kirk Nicholas all of Summerville, S.C.; two daughters, Kathy Alexander of Naples, Fla. and Karen Nicholas of Summerville, S.C.; one brother, Earl (Cork) Stevens of Marion, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Laura "Frances" Driggers, 76, widow of Willard W. Driggers, Sr., of Summerville, SC, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at a Charleston hospital.
Graveside services will be held at Carolina Memorial Gardens, North Charleston, SC, Saturday morning, June 29, 2002 at 11 o'clock. Friends may call at PARKS FUNERAL HOME, Summerville, SC on Friday evening from 6 - 9 o'clock.

RAUCH, Linda
Linda Dianne Rauch, 54, wife of Lloyd L. Rauch of Summerville, died Tuesday, June 26, 2002 at her residence.

Agnes Geraldine Winter, 71, of Summerville, SC died Monday, June 24, 2002 at a Summerville Hospital.

DALTON, John
ORANGEBURG - John M. Dalton, 78, of 1000 Live Oak Dr., Orangeburg died Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at The Methodist Oaks.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 1, 2002 in the Nancy Freeman Stringer Chapel at The Methodist Oaks with Rev. Tant Ehrhardt and Rev. Sam Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens, Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
Mr. Dalton was born in Leipzig, Germany a son of the late Martin Dalton and Frieda Wiegle Dalton. He was a graduate of Hampton-Sidney College, VA. He was a Nuclear Engineer Technician at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. Mr. Dalton was a former Scout Master. He was a member of Northgate Baptist Church. Mr. Dalton was a former Deacon, former District Lay Leader, and former member of the South Carolina Conference Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jean Wise Dalton of the home; daughters, Linda Jean Sesco, Mansfield, Ohio, Gale Heldenbrand, Ft. Wayne, Ind., Cindy Osborne, Boiling Springs, S.C.; one son, John W. Dalton, Hillsdale, Mich.; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild.
Family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home. At other times friends may call at the residence and Dukes-Harley Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Methodist Oaks Residents Assistance Fund, or to Northgate Baptist Church, 850 Woodbine Dr., Orangeburg, S.C. 29115.

MORRIS, Jr., Herbert
Herbert Manor Morris, Jr., 85, of North Charleston, died Thursday June 27, 2002, in a local nursing home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., June 29, 2002, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston. Burial to follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Born September 29, 1916, in Ware County, Ga. He was the son of the late Herbert Manor Morris, Sr. and Teadie Owens Morris. He was preceded by his wife Macie Henderson Morris. Mr. Morris was a retired general superintendent of South Carolina Ports Railway. He was a Mason and member of the Hammerton Lodge #332 and a member of the Pittman Street Baptist Church.
He is survived by three daughters, Dee Dee M. Betsill, of Atlanta, Ga., Wanda M. Garris, of North Charleston, and Ellen M. Tuten, of Goose Creek; a son, Herbert M. Morris, III of Summerville; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2002, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home.

SMITH, D. Harold
D. Harold Smith, 77, retired owner of Smith's Deluxe Cleaners and husband of Evelyn H. Smith died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Memorial services for Mr. Smith will be held in Bethany United Methodist Church in Summerville on Saturday, June 29, 2002 at 2 o'clock.

Mr. Smith was born September 6, 1923 in Summerville, a son of the late Henry W. and Flossie Phillips Smith. He was a graduate of Summerville High School. He was a WWII veteran having served as a Sergeant in the United States Army in the Pacific Theater. He was a lifelong resident of Summerville. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church where he was Director of Leisure Ministries and Senior Adult Coordinator.
Surviving are his wife of Summerville; 3 sons, David H. Smith, Jr. and his wife Deborah of Summerville, William L. "Billy" Smith and his wife Tresa of Summerville, Gene P. Smith and his wife Kathy of Summerville; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Juanita S. White of Sumter.

WILLIS, Jr., William
William Edward "Billy" Willis, Jr., 38, of Charleston died Tuesday, June 25, 2002. Mr. Willis was born Thursday, February 13, 1964 in Charleston the son of William Edward and Ruth Ann Vinson Willis. He graduated from the schools of Charleston. Surviving are his mother of Charleston; a daughter, Tiffany Ann Willis and a son, William Chad Willis both of Punta Gorda, Fla.; two sisters, Duska Willis of Moncks Corner, S.C. and Tammy Willis of Charleston, S.C. and Tammy Willis of Charleston, S.C.; a nephew, Andrew Willis. The relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002 at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 413 Geddes Ave. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 413 Geddes Ave., Charleston, S.C. 29407 or Bethel Colony of Mercy, Inc., 1675 Bethel Colony Rd., Lenore, N.C. 26645. SMITH, Sadie
UNION, S.C. - Mrs. Sadie Pauline Lane Smith, age 79, 1453 Sardis Rd., Union, wife of Douglas Smith, died June 27, 2002 in the Medical University of South Carolina.
Mrs. Smith was born in Union on December 27, 1922, a daughter of the late Jacob Bert Lane, Sr. and Annie Bell Hyder Lane. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Mary S. Hailman of Charleston; a son, John Douglas Smith of Charleston; a sister, Ada Lane Hall of Union; three brothers, James Lane, J.B. Lane and Harold Lane all of Union; five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Burial in Sardis United Methodist Church cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Holcombe Funeral Home Friday 7:00 until 9:00 p.m.
