YAWN, Charles
Charles Cleveland Yawn, Isle of Palms, died Sunday, June 23, 2002 after a lengthy illness. He was born October 2, 1936 in Greenville, S.C., a son of the late Herman H. Yawn and Martha Stowe Yawn. He graduated from N.C. State University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and retired after 29 years with Nalco Chemical Company. He was a former president of the Wild Dunes Community Association and served on the Isle of Palms ARC Board.
Mr. Yawn is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jennie H. Yawn, of the Isle of Palms, two sons, Charles Michael Yawn of Gainesville, Ga. and David Glenn Yawn of Concord, N.C., a daughter, Ellen Yawn Christian of St. Simons Island, Ga., two brothers, Herman H. Yawn of Rock Hill, S.C. and Joe F. Yawn of Saluda, S.C., a sister, Catherine Y. Richardson of Austin, Tex. and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, Charleston, S.C. 29406.

Agnes Geraldine Winter, 71, of Summerville, S.C. died Monday, June 24, 2002 at a Summerville Hospital.

Ms. Winter was born October 16, 1930 in Louisville, Ky., a daughter of the late James Riley Higdon and Lillie Mae Duncan Higdon. She was a graduate of New Salisbury High School (Ky.) and valedictorian of her class.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Deborah Campbell, Gail Mitchum and Kathy Schmitt, all of Summerville, S.C., a son, Mark Winter of Goose Creek, S.C., a sister, Mary Barr and 4 brothers, Robert Higdon, Richard Higdon, James Higdon and Joseph Eugene Higdon, all of Indiana, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased in death by a beloved son, Michael Winter and 2 brothers, Michael Higdon and David Higdon.

Rev. Wilbur Rood Parvin, 83, of Summerville, S.C., husband of Mildred Ruth Christie Parvin, died Friday, June 21, 2002 at his residence.

McCLELLAN, R. P.
Rufus Pegues (Chief) McClellan died at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home on June 24, 2002.
He was born in McClellanville, SC, July 3, 1909, son of the late Dr. Edward A. and Lucy Pegues McClellan.
Preceded by his wife, Miriam Kelly McClellan. Survived by one daughter, Elizabeth M. Fleming, and her husband, Mack G. Fleming, of Seneca, SC; two grandchildren, Katharine L. Dukes of Austin, Texas and John McClellan Fleming of Washington, DC; one great grandson, Caleb McClellan Dukes of Austin, Texas; one brother, Archibald J. McClellan of Florence, SC; and one nephew, Robert E. McClellan of Greenville, SC.
Chief McClellan was a graduate of the F.B.F. National Academy, Washington, DC and spent forty-one years in law enforcement in South Carolina. He served with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, rising to the rank of Lieutenant, until 1959 when he became Chief of Police in Greenwood, SC; and in 1962 he became Chief of Security and Harbor Master of the S.C. Ports Authority in Charleston, SC until his retirement in 1974.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in World War II; was past President and life member of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Association; a member of American Legion Post 184, Campbell Nursing Home, Anderson, SC; and member of Hibben United Methodist Church, Mount Pleasant, SC.
The funeral service for Chief Rufus McClellan will be Thursday, June 27, 2002 at the Graveside, Wappetaw Presbyterian Church cemetery at 2:00 o'clock. Friends may visit with the family at the graveside from 1:00 until time of service.

DANIELS, BOBBY
Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of June 22, 2002, Bobby Joe Daniels. Residence, north Charleston, SC. A Prayer Service was held in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL Tuesday afternoon at five o'clock. Interment, Wednesday in Beaufort National cemetery.
Mr. Daniels was born May 10, 1935 in Little River, Arkansas, a son of Thomas Roy Daniels and Alta Reed Daniels. He attended Wando Woods Baptist Church and retried from the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by a sister, Peggy June Bradham of Fairdealing, MO.
EPPS, Margaret
KINGSTREE- Margaret Wilson Epps, widow of Lt. F. Q. Epps, Jr., died Monday in a Florence hospital.
Mrs. Epps was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Charles Bernard Wilson and Mrs. Ethel Rebecca Evans Wilson. She was a graduate of Lake City High School and Winthrop College, and was a retired teacher at Williamsburg Academy. Mrs. Epps was a member of of the Wednesday Evening Bridge Club. Mrs. Epps was member of Kingstree United Methodist Church and the Gary Hemingway Circle of the Church.
Surviving are 2 sons: Shawn Corey (Cathe) Epps of Lugoff, and Bernard Quinton (Jeannie) Epps of Lexington; 2 daughters: Mary Ethel (Jeff) Eidson of Eagle, Idaho and Margaret Frances (Eddie) Hart of Lugoff; 2 sisters: Marian W. Coker of Kingstree and Carolyn W. Anderson of Lake City; 4 grandchildren: Kaitlin Hart, Colby Epps, James Eidson and Tess Eidson; 10 nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Friday in the Kingstree United Methodist Church, with burial in Midway Presbyterian Church cemetery. The family will receive friends form 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at WILLIAMSBURG FUNERAL HOME, 332 East Main St., Kingstree, SC. Memorials may be made to Kingstree United Methodist Church.

GREENVILLE, SC - Elva Stogner Pearce, 93, formerly of 119 Creeks Edge Court, died Monday, June 24, 2002.
Born in Lancaster, SC, she was the daughter of the late Charles O. and Desdamona McManus Stogner.
A graduate of Winthrop College, she was a retired sixth grade school teacher and a member of Disciples United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Susanne Pearce Dandridge and her husband, Benjamin Dandridge of Charleston, SC; a son, Steve Pearce of Greenville; one brother, Jack Stogner and his wife, Ginny Stogner of Camden; four grandchildren- Caroline S. Kuehn, Todd W. Scofield, Stephen C. Scofield, and Ann Pearce Harvell; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Disciples United Methodist Church, Riley Smith Road, Greenville, SC with Dr. Lounna Rouse and Rev. Douglas Cushing officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at THE MACKEY MORTUARY, CENTURY DRIVE.
