PENSACOLA, FLA. - Major Russell G. Patterson, Jr. USMC (ret), died Wednesday, June 19, 2002, in Pensacola, Fla..
Major Patterson attended the Citadel from 1940-1942. He served in the Pacific in WW II, and two tours in the Korean War. In 1964, he retired in Pensacola.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Charlotte Hutson Martin of Charleston, S.C.; 2 children, Russell G. Patterson, III, Patricia P. Lambeth (Keith); one granddaughter, Trinity E. Lambeth.
Major Patterson will be buried in the Barrancas National cemetery, NAS Pensacola, with full military honors.
A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3400 Bayou Blvd., Pensacola, Fla. 32503.
LEGARE, Laura
Laura "Dickie" Legare, 86, of Younges Island, S.C. died June 18, 2002. She was born Oct. 5, 1915.
Graveside services will be held June 29, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ St. Paul Church, Adams Run, S.C., Bishop Buchanan officiating.
Mrs. Legare was the widower of Thomas G. Legare, Jr. She was a member of Christ St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She was a member of South Carolina Chapter of Colonial Dames, Huguenot Society of South Carolina, and the Junior League of Charleston.
Survivors include a son, Thomas (Amy) Legare; two sisters, Anne Hasell of Charleston, S.C. and Jane Martin of Pennsylvania; brother, Sam Hasell of Virginia; two grandsons, Thomas Legare and Tim Legare; four nieces.

RENO, Michael
BRUNSON - Mr. Michael Alan Reno, 24, of 1964 McMillan Road in Brunson, died Sunday night at his residence after an extended illness.
Mr. Reno was born in Allentown, Pa., December 14, 1977, a son of Christopher Michael Reno and Judith Alison Bender Reno. He was a Network Computer Manager with the Salkehatchie Branch of the University of South Carolina in Allendale and Walterboro. He was a Boy Scout with Troop #1, at the Church of the Mediator in Allentown and was a member of the Lehigh Valley Astronomical Society and the Fairfax-Brunson Church Softball Team. He was a member of the Fairfax 1st Baptist Church.
Surviving besides his parents of Allentown, Pa. are his wife, Janet Jones Reno of Brunson; one brother, Joseph Robert Reno of Allentown; his maternal grandparents, Charmaine and Harry Phillips of Allentown; and grandfather, Paul Bender of Stroudburg, Pa.; his paternal grandparents, Beverly and R. Michael Reno of Wescosville, Pa.; and close family members in Brunson, Donnie and Debbie Jones, and Nick and Jamie Jones.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Fairfax 1st Baptist Church with burial in the St. Nicholas Church cemetery in Allendale County, directed by PEEPLELS-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME in Hampton. On July 13, Memorial Services will be held at the Greenawald U.C.C., in Allentown, Pa. Friends may call at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and Wednesday until 2 p.m. when the casket will be placed in the church prior to services.

Frances R. Smith passed on June 15, 2002 while residing at Bayview Nursing Center in Beaufort, S.C. A long time resident of The Canterbury House in Charleston she was predeceased by her husband, Franklin Hampton Smith, Jr. Frances was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church where she served on the Vestry, was President of the Altar Guild and Co-founder of the Flower Arranging Guild. Born in Birmingham, Ala. on July 27, 1923 she is survived by Franklin Hampton Smith, III of St. Paul, Minn., R. Douglas Smith of Beaufort, S.C. and Bradley Stuart Smith of Wilmington, N.C. and five grandchildren. James "Jim" Holland Brookshire, 54, of Mt. Pleasant, SC died Sunday, June 23, 2002 in Columbia, SC. The memorial services will be Wednesday evening, June 26, 2002 in J. Mr. Brookshire was born in Athens, GA, a son of William L. Brookshire and Clarise Holland Brookshire. He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division and graduated for North Georgia College, Dahlonega, GA with a B.S. degree in Physical Education. Mr. Brookshire was a Pharmaceutical Representative of Bristol Myers-Squibb.
Surviving are his son, J. Dennis Brookshire and his wife Jennifer of Mt. Pleasant, SC; one daughter, Tina Brookshire Vaughn and her husband Scott of Columbia, SC; one brother, Col. William G. Brookshire, U.S. Army, Ret., of Cumming, GA; one granddaughter, Beckett Lenentine Brookshire; and several nieces and nephews.
