PRIDGEN, Carl
Carl Craven Pridgen 61, of Pine Lake Drive, died Friday, June 21, 2002, at his residence.
He was born August 6, 1940, in Myrtle Beach, S.C., a son of the late Carl Columbus and Annelle Garr Pridgen.
Mr. Pridgen was a Myrtle Beach High School graduate and attended Georgia Tech and Ringling School of Art. He was a life member of the Myrtle Beach Elks Lodge and held several offices on the local, state and national levels. He also was an avid golfer.
Surviving are; his wife Evelyn H. Pridgen, a son, C. Ed Hopper and wife Nancy of Surfside Beach, five daughters, Cheryl Riddick and husband Bob of Lexington, S.C., Sara Todd of Clearwater, FL, Jeanette Altman and husband Tracy, Lynn Pridgen both of Sarasota, FL, and Clara Surrett and husband Tim of Myrtle Beach. Two brothers, Bill Pridgen and wife Dee, Roy Pridgen and wife Paula both of Myrtle Beach. Also survived by eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a niece and several nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 Saturday, at MCMILLAN-SMALL FUNERAL HOME.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 23, 2002, at the Myrtle Beach Elks Lodge.

Mr. Webster was born in Charleston, S.C., the son of Ronnie Anderson Hughes and Debrah Webster Hughes. He was employed as a plumber at W.B. Guimarin Mcchanical Contractors. He attended Adams Run Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife; one son- Christopher Anderson Webster; one maternal grandmother- Dolly Webster of Adams run, S.C.; one paternal grandmother- Minnie Joe Hutto of Summerville, S.C.

JAYROE, John
GEORGETOWN- John Bernard Jayroe, Jr., 45, died Thursday, June 20, 2002, at his residence. Mr. Jayroe was born in Georgetown on December 28, 1956, a son of the late John Bernard Jayroe and Shelva Jean Simpson Jayroe. He was a graduate of Winyah High School and was employed by International Paper Company. Mr. Jayroe was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and was an avid fisherman.
Surviving are: two sons, T. Nicholas Jayroe and Joshua C. Jayroe, both of Georgetown; a brother, William G. "Greg" Jayroe of Murrells Inlet; a nephew, William G. Jayroe, Jr. of Georgetown; and a niece, Shelva Monroe Goude of Georgetown; and a number of uncles and aunts.
Funeral services will be three o'clock Sunday afternoon, June 23, 2002, in Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Phillip C. Thrailkill and the Rev. Richard C. Jayroe. Burial will follow in Elmwood cemetery Annex under the direction of the GEORGETOWN CHAPEL OF MAYER FUNERAL HOME.

BLANKENSHIP, Laura
Laura D. Blankenship, 88, of Hanahan, S.C., widow of William Howard Blankenship, former owner/operator of Mabelene Lodge Fish Camp/Mobile Home Park, died Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, June 22, 2002, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Burial to follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Blankenship was born January 7, 1914, in Nota Sulga, Ala., a daughter of Thomas James Dunaway and Lavada Henderson Dunaway. Mrs. Blankenship was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked as an ammo inspector at West Point, Ga. during World War II. She was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church and also a member of Central Church of Christ in LaBelle, Florida.
She was pre-deceased by two sons, William Larry Blankenship and Ronald Edward Blankenship, two sisters, Ruby Crowder and Lois Spigener and three brothers, Alvin Dunaway, Obie Carl Dunaway and Howard Dunaway. She is survived by a son, Raymond C. Blankenship of Hanahan, S.C., a daughter, Linda B. Basbarro, of Sevierville, Tenn., a sister, Mary P. Whitman, of Alva, Fla. and six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2002 and Saturday, June 22, 2002, from 10-12 p.m., at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, S.C.

SMITH, Jr., James
COLUMBIA - Memorial service for Mr. James O. Smith, Jr., 53, native of Charleston and formerly of Barnwell, living in Columbia, will be held 5 o'clock Saturday evening, June 22, 2002, in HarborView Presbyterian Church, 900 Harbor View Road, James Island, SC 29412. Officiating will be The Reverend Dr. Donald Day and The Reverend Dr. J. Patrick Vaughn.

Mr. Smith died Wednesday, June 19, 2002. Born on August 10, 1948, in Charleston, he was the son of James Olin Smith and the late Jeanne Stuckey Smith. He graduated from Barnwell High School in 1966, where he was a star in football and baseball. Jimbo graduated in 1970 from the University of South Carolina School of Business Administration with a full baseball scholarship where he set a school record for Earned Runs Average as a pitcher in 1968. He was also a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity; he was past president of the West Ashley Gamecock Club. Jimbo was an avid fisherman and hunter; he was a Charter Member of the Saltwater Sports club of James Island. He was in the U.S. Army Reserves with a Honorable Discharge. Jimbo was a charter member of Fort Johnson Baptist Church in James Island, and a member of HarborView Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are: 2 daughters, Lauren Leigh Smith and Kayti Louise Smith, both of Charleston father, James Olin Smith of Charleston, cousins, Betty Ann and Larry Brown of Barnwell, brother-in-law, Michael McCormick, Wendy Hollingsworth, both of Columbia, nephew, Kelly Lee of Lexington, and former wife, Phyllis L. Gibson of Charleston and close family friends, Olean and Bob McConnell. He is also survived by many loved ones and friends and will be sadly missed by all.
