ST. GEORGE, S.C. - Mrs. Geneva Smith Tanner, age 85, 1076 Quaker Road, St. George died Thursday, June 13, 2002 in Colleton Medical Center after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday in Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Watson and Tim Futrell officiating. Burial will follow in the St. George cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at BRYANT FUNERAL HOME. Mrs. Tanner was born October 13, 1917 in Orangeburg County a daughter of the late Jacob Moses and Blanche Felder Smith. She was a graduate of Branchville High School and was a member of Grover United Methodist Church. She was first married
to the late Oscar Dennis Westbury. Surviving are her husband, Marion O. Tanner; a son, Stephen Dennis Westbury, St. George, 2 step-sons, Michael Tanner, Charleston and Marion O. Tanner, Jr., Pinopolis, 2 step-daughters, Carolyn Classen, Ladson and Gloria Jean Platt, Summerville, brother, A. Moses Smith, St. George, sister, Sadie S. Sage, Springfield, Mo., 3 grandchildren, Lorie W. Stanley, and Stevie Westbury, Jr., both of Walterboro and Ashley Westbury, Atlanta, Ga., 5 great-grands.
DENNIS, George
HOPKINS - Services for George Raymond Dennis, 78, will be private. Memorials may be made to the South Carolina State Troopers Association, or Richland County CASA, 1701 Main Street, Room 407, Columbia, S.C. 29201. DUNBAR FUNERAL HOME is in charge.
Mr. Dennis died Thursday, June 13, 2002. Born in Reading, Penn., he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Resh Dennis. A Marine Corp veteran of WWII, he was a registered sergeant with the S.C. Highway Patrol, with 35 years of service. He was a member of the S.C. Trooper Association, and was a H.A.M. amateur radio operator (K4DSK).
Surviving are his son, Richard Ray Dennis of Spartanburg; one granddaughter, Caroline C. Dennis of Columbia; and his former wife, Blanche Dennis of Spartanburg.

Marvin "Ed" Ridge, III, 47, of Summerville, S.C., husband of Donna Ridge, died Friday, June 14, 2002 at a Summerville hospital.

Mr. Ridge was born October 19, 1954 in Greer, S.C., a son of the late Marvin "Ed" Ridge, II and Francis Ridge. He was market manager for Mr. K's Piggly Wiggly.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Rian Lyndsay Ridge, Kristen Kelly Nichols, Kimberly Lynn Nichols; two sons, Jason Denis Ridge, William Carl Nichols all of Summerville, S.C.; five grandchildren; three dogs and one horse.

Lyne-Noelle de Leeuw Bowick, 42, of Charleston, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, following an illness. Mrs. Bowick was born September 5, 1959 in Montreal Canada. She was the co-owner and founder of Desk Trade America, a financial services company. Mrs. Bowick's career was distinguished by being the first female foreign member of the New York Stock Exchange. She also worked as a trader on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. She also worked for seven years as an advertising executive. She was a graduate of Concordia University in Montreal Canada.
She is survived by her parents, Daniel A. and Huguette Crevier deLeeuw of Montreal Canada, her husband, Mark Bowick of Charleston, a son, Alexandre M. Bowick of Charleston, a brother, Francis deLeeuw (Lise) and two nephews, Gabriel and Bastien and one niece Danika of Montreal. Friends and family members are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, June 16, 2002 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel.

HILLS, John
ORANGEBURG - John Edward Hills, 82, a retired Deputy Director of S.C. Dept. of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, died Friday at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the Stringer Chapel at the Methodist Oaks, conducted by Rev. Kermit Shrawder and Rev. Don Britt. Interment will be in the Hucks-Spell cemetery near Smoaks, directed by the FRED PARKER FUNERAL HOME of Walterboro.
Mr. Hills was born Sept. 21, 1919 in Atlanta, Ga., a son of the late Albert L. Hills and Georgia Burns Hills. He was a member of Trenholm Road United Methodist Church in Columbia. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and earned a Masters Degree at the University of Kentucky. He was the song leader of Columbia Rotary Club for nearly 30 years and served as the club president from 1970-1971. He was also an award winning watercolorist and well known singer. He was an Air Force veteran of World War serving as a Captain in the South Pacific and Japan.
Surviving are his wife, Annie Martha Spell Hills of Orangeburg, a sister, Margaret H. Fairleigh of Atlanta, Ga. and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials can be made to Hospice of the Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg, S.C.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
TURNER, Eugenia
WALTERBORO - Eugenia Carter Turner, 85, a secretary with the Dept. of Mental Health, and widow of Gilbert Eugene Turner, died Thursday at the Colleton Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday at the graveside in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by Rev. Lee Cothran and directed by the FRED PARKER FUNERAL HOME.
Mrs. Turner was born Nov. 23, 1917 in Colleton County, a daughter of the late Willie W. Carter and Essie Bryan Carter. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son, Gilbert E. Turner, Jr. of Walterboro, a daughter, Gilda T. Barnwell of Walterboro, a brother, Jack W. Carter of Walterboro, a sister, Mary C. Richardson of Summerville and three grandchildren.
