CHAMBERLIN, Martin
Dr. Martin Ross Chamberlin, 72, of John's Island, husband of Barbara Fiore Chamberlin and a retired Pediatrician died Friday, June 7, 2002 at his residence. Mr. Chamberlin was born Wednesday, November 27, 1929 in Baldwin, N.Y., the son of Ross Irving and Dora Lynch Chamberlin. Mr. Chamberlin served his country in the U.S. Army. He also served on the staff at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J. and at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Sufferin, N.Y. Mr. Chamberlin was retired from his private practice in Ramsey and Allendale, N.J. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; six sons, Marc Chamberlin, Matthew Chamberlin, Luke Chamberlin, John Chamberlin, Paul Chamberlin, and Peter Chamberlin; three daughters, Ann Boe, Danette Fulk and Rachel Schwanewede, Mr. Chamberlin is also survived by 10 grandchildren. Mr. Chamberlin's funeral services will be held in Ramsey, N.J. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on John's Island at a later date. Mrs. Holbrooks was born October 6, 1923 in Haverhill, Mass., a daughter of the late Charles Edwin and Phyllis Conley Bullock. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, sang in the church choir and was a soloist. Mrs. Holbrooks was a volunteer for many organizations in the Charleston area and served in World War II in the United States Navy.
She is survived by one daughter, Cynthia H. Witt of Ladson, S.C.; one son, Jeffrey M. Witt of Summerville, S.C.; one brother, Charles E. Bullock, III of Wolfboro, N.H.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

SWAIN, Raymond
Raymond Regis Swain, Sr., 101, died on Thursday, June 6, 2002 in a local hospital. Mr. Swain was born June 30, 1900 in Fennelton, PA, the son of the late George S. Swain and Belle Baker Swain. He was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Ethel Teresa Seagren Swain and two sons Donald S. Swain and Raymond R. Swain, Jr. He was a resident of Sullivan's Island, a retired Planner and Estimator at Charleston Naval Shipyard (started 1938), American Bridge Co. in PA, and Real Estate agent for Griffith Real Estate upon retirement. He was a member of Stella Maris Catholic Church; a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus; member of the Men's Club and Choir at Stella Maris; and a lifetime honorary member in the Men's Club of Sullivan's Island. Mr. Swain is survived by one sister, Hilda M. Swain of Sullivan's Island; six sons: Robert R. Swain (Linda), Albany, CA; David C. Swain (Patricia), Montgomery, AL; James C. Swain (Brenda), Mount Air, VA; Gary M. Swain (Mary), Charleston, SC; Carl C. Swain and Leonard A. Swain (Jovita), Sullivan's Island, SC; and two daughters: Nancy S. Jager (George) of James Island, SC and Ethel S. Backus (Phillip) of Mount Pleasant, SC; 37 grandchildren and 66 great-grandchildren. LEWIS, Gilbert
Gilbert Lewis, 79, of Pinecrest Dr., Moncks Corner, SC, a retired electrician at the Charleston Naval Shipyard, died Saturday in a North Charleston hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM Tuesday evening, June 11, 2002, in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until the hour of service on Tuesday.
Mr. Lewis was born May 16, 1923, in Stacy Fork, Kentucky, a son of Edgar Lewis and Rosetta Ferguseon Lewis. He was an Army Veteran of W.W.II.
Surviving are: his wife, Linda Darnell Lewis; a daughter, Lisa A. McDonald of Moncks Corner; a son, Brian Lewis of Givhans; a brother, Willard Lewis of Mt. Orab, OH; and four grandchildren.
CROSBY, Edith
WALTERBORO - Edith Priester Crosby, 98, formerly of Columbia, and widow of Albert Crosby, died Saturday at the Colleton Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday at the graveside in Black Creek cemetery, conducted by Rev. Steve Brown and Rev. Stephen Bouknight, and directed by the FRED PARKER FUNERAL HOME.
Mrs. Crosby was born March 27, 1904 in Fairfax, SC, a daughter of the late Pretto and Lee Mills Priester. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Columbia and was a retired Kindergarten secretary.
Surviving are: niece and nephews, Doris Bales of Walterboro, Billy and Charles Priester of Fairfax and Kenneth Smoak of St. George.
