HICKS, Carolyn
Anna Carolyn Hicks, of 674 Pelzer Drive, Mount Pleasant; S.C. died June 5, 2002.
Mrs. Hicks was born in South Bend, Ind. on September 8, 1926. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Coker College and a M.A.T. from the Citadel. Mrs. Hicks taught in private and public schools for over 20 years. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Everard R. Hicks, two children, J. Dianne Tennyson, a local art teacher and J. Marc Hicks, a dentist in Florence, S.C., five grandchildren: Jeremy and Jonathan Hicks, Sarah, Rebekah, and Anna Tennyson.
Mrs. Hicks was an active member of the Mount Pleasant Seventh-day Adventist Church.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 9 at 3:00 p.m., at the Mt. Pleasant Seventh-day Adventist Church, located on the corner of Bennett and Hibben Street, in the old village in Mt. Pleasant. All friends are invited to the memorial service.

MARTIN, Mattie
AYNOR - Mattie "Polly" Rabon Martin, age 83, wife of the late Mose Rabon and the late Oscar Martin died Thursday, June 6, 2002 at Conway Hospital.
Mrs. Martin was born in the Pleasant Union Community, a daughter of the late William and Rose Carroll. She was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church and was a homemaker, seamstress, friend and mother to many. Mrs. Martin was a loving and giving person who enjoyed nothing more than cooking and caring for others. She was predeceased by a grandson, Rodney Allsbrook; step-son, Eugene Martin, step-grandson Terry Martin; three brothers, Jesse, Dock and Arthur Carroll and seven sisters, Ruth Parker, Bessie Jones, Maggie Rabon, Maude Long, Bell Altman, Mary Carroll and Minnie West.
Surviving are five sons, Billy Rabon and his wife Ailine of Charleston, Kenneth Rabon and his wife Reba of Conway, Grady Rabon and his wife Margaret, Earl Rabon and his wife Lila all of Aynor and Charlie "Ronald" Rabon and his wife Linda of Lexington; two daughters, Betty Rose Hardwick and her husband James and Mary Ellen Allsbrook and her husband Ragsdale all of Aynor; step-son, Nathan "Junior" Martin and his wife Edna Bell of Aynor; three sisters, Martha Rabon, Hattie Rabon, and Edna King; 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, four step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Ragsdale Allsbrook and Rev. Dock Rabon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, directed by GOLDFINCH FUNERAL HOME, CONWAY CHAPEL.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
