ABBEVILLE — David Earl Middleton of Abbeville died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002.
Born in McCormick County, he was educated through the public school system of McCormick County and completed two years of continued education at Forrest Junior College in Anderson. He was also employed as a technician at the Wamsutta Plant in Anderson for several years. During his young adult years he served actively on the young people’s choir as a member of Rockford AME Church.
Surviving are brother, Issac Jr. of Mount Carmel; and sisters, Sallie Mae Middleton of the home, Georgette Anderson of Ware Shoals, Essie T. Paul of Level Land and Ellen McAlister of Starr.
He was the son of the late Issac and Nellie Belcher Middleton
Services are at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Rockford AME Church, Mount Carmel, by the Rev. James Louden, III, assisted by the Revs. Willie Belcher and Robert Belcher. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The family will be at the residence.
Richie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Kelley, Bill
CAMPOBELLO — William Austin “Bill” Kelley, 68, of 4744 S.C. 357, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Pickens County, he was a retired landscaper and a Baptist.
Surviving are daughter, Martha Carnes of Tiger, Ga.; sons, William Austin Kelley, Anthony Daniel Kelley and Roger Michael Kelley, all of Clarkesville; sisters, Nell Skinner, Marie Todd, Ruby Todd and Judy Collen; and brothers, Theron, Junior David Richard and Fred Kelley.
He was the son of the late Paul and Clara Holder Kelley.
Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Liberty Mortuary; burial will be in Liberty Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
Johnson, Bernice M.
CONWAY — Dr. Bernice M. Johnson of Conway died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at her home.
She was a native of Anderson.
Surviving are widower, William P. Johnson Sr. of Conway; daughters, Dr. Mary Alice Johnson Crockett of Potomac, Md., Dr. Willa J. DeWitt of Conway and Dr. Frankie J. Brown of East Lansing, Mich.; sons, retired Major William P. Johnson Jr. and Chief Warrant Officer Four Charles B. Johnson Sr., both of Conway; sisters, Sallye M. Clinkscales of Jamaica, N.Y., Lilla McIntyre of Oakland, Calif. and Annie Ruth Brown of Edisto Island; and eight grandchildren.
She was the daughter of the late Luther and Mary Jane Alice McAlister.
Services are at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Cherry Hill Baptist Church in Conway; burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held at 7 p.m. Monday at Latimer Funeral Home in Conway.

ABBEVILLE — Wallace Neil Gable, 68, of 904 Sharon Church Road, husband of Geraldine Bruce Gable, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2002, at his home.

SENECA — Doris Patricia Dunbar, 75, of 100 Near Lake Circle died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at her residence.
Born in New York, she was a homemaker and was employed with the Oconee County School System, having worked at Westminster Elementary and Orchard Park Elementary Schools in food service. She was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church.
Surviving are widower, Robert E. Dunbar Sr. of the home; sons, Robert Dunbar Jr. of Seattle, Rev. Michael Dunbar of Villa Rica, Ga., Donald Patrick Dunbar of Bremerton, Wash., Steven Dunbar and James Dunbar of Gainesville, Ga.; brothers, Henry Montanus of Whiting, N.J. and William Montanus of Middletown, N.J.; sister, Joan Mazzeo of Staten Island, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren.
She was the daughter of the late George and Mary Fagan Clancy. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Decker.
Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home, Westminster, by the Rev. Michael Dunbar; burial will follow in Heritage Memorial Gardens. The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of the Foothills 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca, S.C. 29678.
Cox, Ruby
WILLIAMSTON — Ruby K. Cox, 84, of 324 Cox Drive died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at her home.
Born in Belton, she was retired from the Kendall Company and was a member of Piedmont Church of God of Prophecy.
Surviving are daughters, Charlotte Rector of Williamston, Helen Williams of Simpsonville and Mary Ann Miller of Easley; sons, James C. Manley of Williamston and Jerry Manley of Gray Court; sister, Dot Watt of Pelzer; brothers, Fred King of Pelzer and Truman King of Belton; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was the widow of Samuel Cox and the daughter of the late Eugene and Annie Lindley King. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Black.
Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer, by the Rev. Steve Puckett; burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Carl Eugene Cox, 78, of 502 Hillside Drive, Anderson, husband of Ollie Mae Cox, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at the Anderson Area Medical Center.

ALTO, Ga. — Eva Betty Baugh Collins, 64, of Alto died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born in Hall County, she was a member of White Hall Baptist Church and was retired from Mount Vernon Mills.
Surviving are daughters, Janet Campbell of Alto and Pamela Painter of Cornelia; son, Bruce Collins of Gainesville; sister, Jimmie Ruth Wade of Alto; brothers, Arvil Baugh and Eddie “Spanky” Baugh, both of Lula; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was the widow of Francis Joseph Collins and the daughter of the late John Ernest Baugh and Lillie Mae Croy Baugh. She was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Collins; and two brothers, Carl Ernest Baugh and Lemar George Baugh.
Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at White Hall Baptist Church by the Revs. Scott Ledbetter, Anthony Shore and Ronald Mote; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Blackwell, Mari
TOWNVILLE — Mari Blackwell, 57, of 211 Lakefront Road died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at her residence.
Born in Essex, England, she was formerly employed by Fluor Daniel as a computer software technician. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She attended Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
Surviving are widower, Lloyd Blackwell of the home; sons, Mike Reynolds of Greenville, Joe Reynolds of Greenwood, Jay Reynolds of Fountain Inn and Chris Blackwell of Summerville; daughters, Lori LeGarde of Clayton, N.C. and Tonya Blackwell of Gaffney; brother, Roger Zane of Chino Hills, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
She was the daughter of the late Robert Zane and Vera Ewington Zane.
Memorial services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Clemson, with the Rev. Laura White officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence of 211 Lakefront Road in Townville from 2 to 5 p.m.

WESTMINSTER — Maggie James Allen, 77, of Westminster died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at her residence.
Born in Oconee County, she was retired from Jantzen and a member of the Faith Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Walhalla. She was the last surviving sibling of her family.
Surviving are daughter, Catherine G. Wilbanks of Westminster; one nephew; and one niece.
She was the widow of James David Allen and the daughter of the late Doc and Dovie Ann Cobb James. She was preceded in death by a brother, George Edward James; and two sisters, Charlotte and Rosie James.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home by the Revs. Dick Thomas, John McKnight and Paul Brooks; burial will follow in the Westminster First Baptist Church cemetery. The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The family will be at the residence.

Smith, Randall D.
ANDERSON — Mr. Randal Doyle Smith, 53, of 415 Vandiver Street, Anderson, died Sunday, August 04, 2002 at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Anderson on April 1, 1949, he was the son of the late Doyle and Mary Turner Smith. Mr. Smith was employed by BASF with 33 years of service. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the Little River Hunting Club and attended Southside Baptist Church.
Survivors include sister, Susan Bolt and her husband Jimmy, of Anderson; a niece, Crystal Bolt of Anderson; a nephew, Jay Bolt of Anderson.
Graveside Services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 6, 2002 at 11:00 AM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Phillip McAlister officiating.
The body is at The McDougald Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, August 5, 2002.
The family is at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Jimmy Bolt, 207 Knollwood Drive, Anderson.
Landry, Jacqueline Tracy
PENDLETON — Jacqueline Tracy Landry, age 40, wife of Steven Charles Landry, of 203 Rogers Road, Pendleton, died Friday, August 2, 2002 at her home.
Born in Philadelphi8a, Pennsylvania on October 26, 1961, she was the daughter of the late John Henry Jones. Mrs. Landry was a homemaker.
Mr. Landry wants the world to know that he loved his wife Jackie and that she loved him more. Jackie never asked for or wanted anything except to take care of every body and that she did. She fought to live right down to the last minute even making dinner hours before she died. She was his Jackie, his love, his soul and the fuel of their lives.
“Jackie, please forever watch over me and continue to take care of me as you always have. I’ve always loved you and always will.”
