TOMS, Doris
WOLFEBORO, N.H. - Doris Jeanne Toms, 66, died Saturday, May 18, 2002, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born Nov. 1, 1935, in Altoona, Pa., daughter of Harry and Ione (Freer) Diggins. She lived in Brattleboro, Vt., for many years, where she graduated from Brattleboro High School in 1953. In 1958, she and her husband moved to Wolfeboro, where they raised their family.
Doris loved Charleston, and she and her husband resided in S.C. during the winter months. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Wolfeboro where she served as a deaconess and wedding hostess. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and was awarded the "Order of the Sword" in 1994 for her devoted service to that organization. She also was a member of P.E.O. Chapter P, Wolfeboro.
Doris is survived by her husband, Dr. Lawrence S. Toms of Wolfeboro; her mother, Ione (Diggins) Colburn of Wolfeboro; two sons, Madison L. Toms and wife Deborah of Mt. Pleasant, and Jay C. Toms; a daughter, Carolyn Craigue and husband Jim; four grandchildren, Rebecca and Melissa Toms of Mt. Pleasant, and Jacob and Mariah Craigue; a cousin, Alicia Williams of Bradenton, Fla.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, June 19, at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, Wolfeboro. Memorial donations may be made to First Congregational Church, for the Doris J. Toms Memorial Scholarship Fund, South Main Street, Wolfeboro, N.H. 03894.

Mrs. Trowell, widow of Fred J. Trowell, died Monday, June 3, 2002. Born in Charleston, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Shelton Jerome and Olga Doscher Jones. She was a charter member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Walterboro, S.C.
Surviving are her husband, Fred J. Trowell; sons and daughters-in-law, Fred J. and Judy Trowell, Jr. of Little Rock, Ark., Bob and Peggy Trowell of Hartsville, S.C., Paul A. Trowell of Honolulu, Hawaii; sister, Elizabeth Miller of Santee, S.C.; brother, Rowland Jones of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; grandchildren, Fred J. Bridget Irene Dornetto, age 83, of Charleston, S.C. died suddenly Monday, June 3, 2002 in a Charleston hospital. She was a native of Pittsburgh, Pa. and lived in Charleston for the past two and one half years. Mrs. Dornetto was a homemaker and the wife of Louis F. Dornetto. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Mrs. Dornetto was born Saturday, August 31, 1918 in Pittsburgh, Pa., the daughter of Patrick and Mary McDonough Nee. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2002 at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, 120 Broad St. The Rite of Committal will be in St. Lawrence cemetery. Rayner Lee Lewis, Jr., 73, husband of Pauline Smith Lewis, of Summerville, S.C., died Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at a local hospital.

Mr. Lewis was born on October 18, 1928 in Savannah, Georgia, a son of Rayner L. Lewis, Sr. and Catherine Coley Lewis. He was a Senior Master Sergeant, USAF (Ret.), a veteran of Korea and Viet Nam and he received the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service and the Bronze Star. Mr. Lewis also was the retired owner of Lewis Mobile Home Services.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Lewis of Summerville; three daughters, Kathy Weimer of Summerville, S.C., Linda White and Tammi Mullen both of Pauline, S.C.; one son, Robert Lewis of Johns Island, S.C.; one brother, John K. Lewis of Summerville, S.C.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

MCKENZIE, James
Mr. James Clarence McKenzie Jr. 63 of 1025 Miles Road near Varnville, died Monday afternoon in the Veterans Hospital in Charleston, after and extended illness.
Mr. McKenzie was born in Jasper County, December 18, 1938 a son of the late James C. McKenzie Sr. and Caroline Tuten McKenzie. He had retired from Westinghouse Corp. in Hampton, had served in the Air Force, and had attended Deep Branch Baptist Church.
Surviving are: his wife, Ann New McKenzie of Varnville; three sons: John L. McKenzie of Hampton. Spencer Quinton McKenzie of Bristol Tennessee. McKenzie of Hampton, Spencer Quinton McKenzie of Bristol, Tennessee, and Mark H. Wilson of Ware Shoals, S.C.; three daughter; Donna M. Valentino and Rhonda W. McAlhaney both of Varnville, and Katherine K. Shumpert of Asheville, North Carolina. There are 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the Peeples cemetery near Varnville, directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME IN HAMPTON, and conducted by Rev. Marvin Small.
Friends may call at the Chapel in Hampton from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and Thursday morning prior to services.
MCGOUGAN, Ethel
Ethel Baxley McGougan, 96, of Moncks Corner, a retired owner of the Hanahan Dress Shop and department manager with Belk's of Columbia, died Tuesday at her residence.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Episcopal Church, Pinopolis, S.C. Burial, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, MONCKS CORNER, S.C. will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Columbia, S.C.
Mrs. McGougan was born June 2, 1906 at Whiteville, N.C., a daughter of William Baxley and Amanda Victory Baxley. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She was the widow of Bruce A. McGougan, Sr.
Surviving are one son, Bruce A. McGougan, Jr. of Charleston; granddaughter, Martha M. Horn of Moncks Corner; three grandsons, Michael McGougan of West Virginia, Bruce A. McGougan, III of Charleston, Markley E. McGougan of Charleston; six great grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren.
