MARTIN, Wilbur
Wilbur Frank Martin of 421 Jacksonbelt Rd., Holly Hill, S.C. died June 1, 2002 at his residence. He was the widow of Mrs. Rosalee Martin.
Funeral services will be held at Rock Hill AME Church, Vance, S.C. on June 6, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Rock Hill cemetery directed by JENKINS FUNERAL HOME of Holly Hill, S.C.
Mr. Wilbur Martin was born June 13, 1928 in Orangeburg, S.C. a son of Franklin and Nether Martin. He attended the public schools in Holly Hill, S.C. and was a member of Rock Hill AME Church.
He leaves to cherish his most precious memories, his eight daughters, Joann Martin, Mamie Dell Martin, Betty (Albert) Profit, all of Holly Hill, S.C., Diane Brown of Santee, S.C., Sandy Martin of Orland, Fla., Barbara Martin of Norwalk, Conn., Polly Martin and Ruby (James) Palmer of Bronx, N.Y.; four sons, Frank (Johnnie Mae) Martin.
DROSTE, Ronald
Major Ronald Edward Droste, U.S. Air Force (Ret.), 70, of Summerville, S.C., husband of Susan Love Droste, died Tuesday in a Charleston hospital.
Funeral service will be held Friday at 9:30 o'clock in James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial will be in White Church cemetery, Summerville.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 until 8 o'clock this evening.
Mr. Droste, a son of the late Roderick Emil Droste and Annie Tadlock Droste was born on October 16, 1931 in Los Angeles, Calif. He was a graduate of Antelope Valley Union Junior High School in Antelope Valley, Calif. and a graduate of Syracuse University where he received his AB in Russian Studies. Major Droste served as a Navigator in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. He taught Junior Air Force R.O.T.C. at Berkeley High School for 20 years, following his retirement. Mr. Droste was the founder and owner of Words Unlimited Printing for 25 years.
Surviving are his wife of Summerville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Ryan Edward & Pamela Polk Droste of Summerville and Rev. Robert Edward & Karla Wall Droste of Oakland, Calif.; one daughter and son-in-law, Elise Droste Watson & Theodore Albert Watson, Jr. of Greenville, S.C.; three grandchildren, Amelia Ann Watson of Greenville, S.C., Ashley Laurel Droste of Summerville and Faith Christine Watson of Greenville, S.C.; two sisters, Rosella Droste Stanfield of Lancaster, Calif. and Nila Droste Hamilton of Lancaster, Calif.; one brother, Richard Emil Droste of Lancaster, Calif.; several nieces and nephews.

GORE, Jessie
CLARENDON, N.C. - Jessie James "Jim" Gore, age 90, died Wednesday morning, June 5, 2002, in Columbus County Hospital, Whiteville. He was a native of Columbus County, and the son of the late Thomas and Francis Long Gore.
Funeral services will be Friday June 7, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in the Inman Chapel, conducted by Rev. Ricky Shrewsbury, with interment in the Gore cemetery, Clarendon.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Ruth Gore of the home; one daughter, Betty Ruth Greene of Chadbourn, N.C.; three sons, Elroy Gore of Eagle River, Alaska, Jesse Gore of Aberdeen, N.C. and Jimmy Gore of Charleston, S.C.; three sisters, Ruth Anderson of Wilmington, Martha Gore of Tabor City and Dell Gore of Whiteville; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday night from 7 until 9 p.m. at Inman Funeral Home.

HUNT, Jr., Roy
GREENVILLE - Roy Franklin Hunt, Jr., 79, of 118 Rockingham Road, died June 4, 2002 at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Roy Franklin, Sr. and Elizabeth Herndon Hunt. He was a graduate of Greenville High School, Class of 1940 and a graduate of Davidson College. He was a U.S. Marine Captain, serving during W.W.II in the Pacific Theater with tours in Okinawa and Guadalcanal. He received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
In 1951 he returned to Greenville and served as the President of the Securities Division of Alester G. Furman Co. He later served as President of South Carolina Securities, Inc. which merged with Frost, Johnson, Read and Smith of Charleston. He then became a full partner with J.C. Bradford, Inc. He served on the NASD Regulatory Board in Atlanta and the Board of the Greenville YMCA. He was a member and president of both the Greenville and Green Valley Country Clubs. Mr. Hunt was a member of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church and the John Holmes Bible Class where he served as past President.
Surviving are his wife, Eva Tennent Powers Hunt; a daughter, Marian Herndon Hunt of Greenville; two sons, Roy F. Hunt, III of Greenville and William Tennent Powers Hunt and his wife, Juli Francis Hunt of Greenville; three grandchildren, William Tennent Powers, Jr., Marlee Elizabeth Hunt, Kara Francis Hunt and an aunt, Madeleine Hunt Morro of Greenville.

DENNIS, Robert
Robert Eugene Dennis, 65, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., died on June 3, 2002 at his residence.
He was born on July 27, 1936 in Newark, N.J. He moved to Lake Havasu City, Ariz. from Charleston, S.C. 10 and one half years ago. He worked as a Ship "Surveyor for Sup-Ship Charleston in Charleston, S.C. for 25 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans, Life Member of American Legion, member of the Mason's in S.C. and was an avid deer hunter in S.C.
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Sylvia A. Dennis, Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; four sons, Robert E. Dennis, Jr., Eugene E. Dennis, II, Daniel P. Dennis, and John M. Dennis, all of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; a daughter, Kara A. Rice, Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; two sisters, Phyllis Till, Santa Fe., N.M., Judy Mangrum, Ft. Washington, Md.; six grandchildren, Daniel P. Dennis, Jr., Amanda Marie Rice, Katalina Ann Rice, Logan Mitchell Dennis, Steven Cruz and Danielle Cruz.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 6, 2002 at Lietz-Franz Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. A Rosary service will be held Thursday, June 6, 2002 at Lietz-Franz Chapel at 7 p.m. conducted by Deacon Tom Coe. Graveside services and interment will take place at Live Oak Memorial Gardens in Charleston, S.C.

MC COWAN, Ruth
SUMTER, SC- Ruth McCowan, age 85, died on Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at her residence.
She was born in Lexington, N.C., the daughter of the late Daniel C. McCowan and Corinna Everhart McCowan. She retired from Walton's Shoe Shop and was a member of the Glenwood Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Surviving are: one sister, Jean M. Tolley and her husband Walter of Charleston, S.C. a niece, Cherie Tolley of Sumter and a great nephew, Brett W. Moore, Jr.
She was predeceased by: one brother, Edward McCowan and one sister, Mildred McCowan.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lexington City cemetery in Lexington, North Carolina. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Glenwood Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, North Carolina.

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C.- Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Roger Orma Caltrider, 81, of West Columbia, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2002 at Woodridge Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites. Mr. Caltrider died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at the home of his daughter in Pinopolis, S.C. Born in Wirt County, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Henry Carlton Caltrider and Vivian Dent Caltrider. He was a WWII, US Army veteran. He was retired from Anderson Box Company, where he was a Warehouse Manager. Mr. Caltrider was a Methodist, a graduate of Parkersburg High School, Parkersburg, West Virginia, and a member of Richland Masonic Lodge #39, AFM. He has been a local resident for the past 50 years.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Arnott Caltrider; daughters, Sharon C. and husband, Joseph Craddock of Pinopolis, S.C. and Joyce H. and husband, Roman Dreyer of San Jose, California; sisters, Marguerite Mace of Point Pleasant, W Va; Randa Samra of Shrewsbury, Mass; Justine Exline of Elizabeth, W.
