STERN, Robert
Robert L. Stern of 3334 Merion Place, Mt. Pleasant, died on April 14, 2002 at the age of 87. ARRANGEMENTS BY J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
A man who lived life with an inimitable joie de vivre, Bob was an active participant in the lives of his family, friends and communities. Known in the Charleston area for his letters to the editor and his bread baking (he gave lessons at his home and other venues even in his 80’s). He also left a worldwide community of friends from his active correspondence on the Internet. Bob was a role model to his three children and four grandchildren who aspire to Grandpa’s energy and enthusiasm for living, his love of music and the great joy he found in being with people.
He married
the woman he loved, Muriel, and enjoyed a wonderful 55 years of marriage. He maintained close relationships with his extended family, particularly with his younger sister, Margie, with whom he talked weekly for many years. His cousin, Charleston’s Theodore Sanders Stern, former president of the College of Charleston, remained a dear and close friend throughout Bob’s life. The love and support from Ted, his wife, Alva and their entire family is very much appreciated.
And many thanks to all of our parents’ Mount Pleasant and Charleston friends. Your kindness, concern and friendship have always been there for our folks.
And finally, we couldn’t have chosen a better Dad! You did it well, Pop---from start to finish!
Greg, Marian and Bobby Stern
