MCCANN, Gina
GEORGETOWN - Gina Selman McCann, 59, died Thursday, April 11, 2002, at a Georgetown hospital.
Mrs. McCann was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on July 27, 1942, a daughter of the late Thomas William Selman and Shirley Ann Startsman Selman. She was an Attorney-at-Law and retired in 1999 from the Sturgill, Turner, Barker, and Maloney Law Firm of Lexington, Ky.
Mrs. McCann was a former Vice Chancellor of the Diocese of Lexington, Ky. She was a communicant of Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church. Mrs. McCann loved the outdoors and was Secretary of the Iroquois Hunt Club.
Surviving are, her husband, John D. McCann of Georgetown; a daughter, Sarah W. West of Denver, Colo., a son, Timothy A. West and his wife, Lea W. of Lexington, Ky., a step-daughter, Molly P. McCann of Lexington, Ky.; two sisters, Judith S. Stinson of Lexington, Va., and Cynthia S. Murphy of Greensboro, N.C.; a step-grandson, Arran R. Walker of Lexington, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 11 o'clock, Saturday morning, April 13, 2002, in Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul C. Fuener.

GUNNELLS, George
George Cooper Gunnells "G.C., " of Bamberg, S.C., husband of the late Verdine Proveaux Gunnells, died the morning of April 10, 2002, in Richland Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Gunnells was born December 2, 1915, in Govan, S.C., the son of the late Shelly Gunnells and the late Lillie Maxcey Gunnells. He was a member of Open Door Baptist Church of Bamberg, Hwy. 301 South. He was a retired employee with the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Ornan Lodge #38, was a Sunday school teacher at Pentecostal Church, and enjoyed gardening and family activities. He was a member of the S.C. Army National Guard - Bamberg Unit, Civil Conservation Corp., in Mississippi and Virginia.
Funeral services will be held April 13, 2002, 11 a.m., at Open Door Baptist Church. Mr. Adrian Haigler officiating, assisted by Rev. John Carter, Rev. Robert War, Rev. Charles Readling, Rev. Paul Callicutt.
Pallbearers are Stephen Gunnells, Robert Blume, Ricky Blume, Randy Compton, Sandy Nettles, Ricky Brown, Chris Casey, and Gregg Hartzog.
Survivors include, son, Harry C. "Pee Wee" and Barbara Gunnells of Saluda; two daughters, Patricia G. and Harry Blume of Bamberg and Lillie G. Blume of Irmo; nine grandchildren, Kim Compton, Dee Neltles, Donna Brown, Dena Medlin, Ricky Blume and Liz Casey; nine great-grandchildren and spouses; three sisters, Sara Crook of Summerville, Florine Dodds of Mt. Pleasant, Grace Altman of Orangeburg; one brother, David Gunnells of Blackville. A number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by beloved wife of 57 years and three brothers, Jim Gunnells, Gene Gunnells, and Frank Gunnells, as well as one sister, Mary Blackmon.
Visitation will be Friday, April 12, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m., at COONER FUNERAL HOME, BAMBERG. Memorials may be made to Open Door Baptist Church, P.O. Box 952, Bamberg, S.C. 29003. Family will receive friends and relatives at Mr. Gunnells Home of 301 South Bamberg, S.C.
KINARD, Harold
Mr. Harold Kinard, 79, of 78 Manker St. in Brunson, died Wednesday after an extended illness.
Born August 23, 1922, in Colleton County, he was the son of the late Archie Kinard and Janie Ulmer Kinard. Mr. Kinard was a self-employed farmer and was a member of the Sandy Run Baptist Church near Hampton. He was married
to the late Nancy Crosby Kinard.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Roy Kinard and wife Gwyn of Walterboro, S.C., Ronnie Kinard and wife Debbie of Johns Island, S.C., Carl W. Kinard and wife Mae of Brunson, S.C., and Randall Kinard of Houston, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Cook and husband Larry of Salsbury, N.C., Shirley Holleman and husband, Bruce of Columbia, S.C. There are 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, at 4 p.m., in the Chapel of PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME IN HAMPTON conducted by Rev. Paul W. Reid, with burial following in Doctor's Creek Baptist Church cemetery near Walterboro, S.C.
Friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday evening, from 6 until 9 p.m., and until the hour of services on Friday.
MIZELL, Alberta
ST. GEORGE - Alberta Weeks Mizell, 85 of 504 Minus Street died Wednesday April 10, 2002 in a Charleston hospital. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the BRYANT FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL with Dr. Wash Belangia officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel United Methodist Church cemetery, Harleyville. Pallbearers will be Nephews. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday evening at Bryant Funeral Home. She was born October 14, 1916 in St. George a daughter of the late William Kirkland and Neta Annie Westbury Weeks. She was retired from Carolina Girls Wear and a member of St. George United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Claudia Kizer Sunday School Class and Anna Rell Brown Circle. She was the widow of Ted C. Mizell and predeceased by brothers Clifton and Ernest Weeks. Surviving are, daughter Annette (Andrew M.) Stephens, Greenville, granddaughter, Heather Ashley Stephens, Brooklyn, NY, 2 brothers, Donald E. Weeks, Reevesville and T.J. Weeks, St. George.

Cindy Linda Craven Creel, 42, widow of James E. Creel, Sr., of Summerville, S.C., died April 10, 2002 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at Pioneer Pentecostal Holiness Church, Saturday afternoon, April 13, 2002 at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Parks Funeral Home, this Friday evening from 6-9 p.m.
Mrs. Creel was born July 11, 1959 in Cordesville, S.C., a daughter of the late Leonard Craven, Sr. and Lorraine Burbage Craven. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by one daughter, Sheila Creel Lincoln, one son, James E. Creel, Jr., one brother, Leonard Craven, II, all of Moncks Corner, S.C.; four sisters, Mona Driggers of Walterboro, S.C., Ester Gaskins of Cordesville, S.C., Mary Copper and Senie Driggers both of Moncks Corner, S.C.; father-in-law, William T. Clark of Moncks Corner, S.C.; two very close friends, Victor and Marlene Burbage and close personal companion, Ronald Floyd all of Jedburg, S.C.

Mrs. Pope was born in Conway, South Carolina, the daughter of the late James Walker Hughes and Hosie Atillia Hughes. She worked for 15 years at the Charleston Naval Shipyard in the supply department from 1941 to 1956. She received numerous accommodations and awards. She was a member of Ashley River Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Conway High School.
Surviving are one son, John Dale Pope of Charleston, S.C.; two sisters, Lorraine H. Riley of North Charleston, S.C., and Mary Latus of Elizabethtown, Ky.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Pope was a wonderful and loving mother who will be deeply missed by her son and family and all who knew her.

BRICKMANN, Ursula
Ursula Strickland Brickmann, 89, of Charleston died Monday, April 8th at a local assisted living home. Mrs. Brickmann was born February 20, 1913 in Augusta, Ga. to the late William Franklin Strickland and Bertha Leake Strickland and has been a life long resident of Charleston, S.C. Mrs. Brickmann is predeceased by her husband, Burchard Pelzer Brickmann. She is survived by her cousins, Elizabeth McNeill, Robert S. Scaffe, Norma Jean McNeill, and numerous other cousins all of Charleston. She was a former secretary at the Church of the Holy Communion and was employed at the Charleston Naval Yard during W.W.II. She was a member of the Riverland Terrace Garden Club and a member of the Altar Guild at the Church of the Holy Communion.
