Mary Ann Green Laird, 52, widow of James R. Laird of Charleston died Tuesday at her residence. Mrs. Laird was born Thursday March 23, 1950 in North, S.C., the daughter of Heyward Lee and Anna Elizabeth McGuirk Green. She attended Cathedral School and Bishop England High School in Charleston. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 12, 2002 in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Folly Beach. CARNEY, Clayton
Clayton Harmon Carney, 79, widower of Florence S. Carney died Monday in Charleston. Mr. Carney was born, Thursday, March 1, 1923 in Muskegon, Mich. the son of Frank Harmon and Dena Poort Carney. He was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W.II and was the recipient of both the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. After the service he joined the Conservation Corps and was a long time member of the American Legion. Mr. Carney played Santa Claus at the Shoney's Restaurant on Savannah Hwy. and was a devoted member of the Oakley Road Church of God in Moncks Corner. Mr. Carney was a retired Stationary Fireman with a Public Service Electric and Gas Company. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at a time to be announced, Friday, April 12, 2002 in the JAMES A. MCALISTER CHAPEL, 1620 SAVANNAH HWY. Ruby Lee Morris Bullard, 74, of Moncks Corner, widow of Jimmie Wade Bullard, died Tuesday in a North Charleston hospital.

Mrs. Bullard was born October 1, 1927 in Duncanville, Alabama, a daughter of the late James Pleasant Morris and Mary Elizabeth Jackson Morris. She attended schools in Alabama. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

WALTERBORO - Mrs. Leocadia Rijos, 95, of 401 Witsell Street, died Monday at a local hospital. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Paul F.X. Seitz officiating. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial cemetery, directed by the BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME.
Mrs. Rijos was born in Vieques, Puerto Rico, a daughter of the late Juan and Domingo Casanova. She was a member of St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic Church in the Virgin Islands and attended St. Anthony Catholic Church in Walterboro.
Surviving are a daughter, Norma R. Dopson of Walterboro, a brother, a sister, seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter and a son.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, where a Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

HARRELSON, Jr., Ernest
GEORGETOWN - Ernest Harrelson, Jr., 74, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at a local hospital.
Mr. Harrelson was born in Georgetown on November 25, 1927, a son of Elma Harrelson and the late Ernest Harrelson, Sr. He lived all his life in Georgetown and was a retired carpenter.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Georgetown are: a brother, Olin S. Harrelson of Georgetown; two sisters, Barbara Glenn and her husband Robert and Joyce Brown and her husband Edwin W., both of Georgetown; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be Friday afternoon, April 12, 2002, at 3 o'clock at the graveside in Mt. Olive Baptist cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Hiram McElrath. Burial will follow under the direction of the Georgetown Chapel of MAYER FUNERAL HOME.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening, April 11, 2002, from 7 to 9 p.m.
PINCKNEY, Mamie
Mrs. Mamie Simmons Pinckney of Charleston, was born July 5, 1908, in Meggett, S.C., to the late Mr. Caeser Simmons and Mrs. Betsy Simmons. She was joined in Holy matrimony to the late Mr. John Pinckney. From this union four children were born; one which preceded her in death. Mrs. Pinckney was educated in the Charleston County Schools.
In 1931, she joined St. Luke AME Church in Hollywood, S.C., and later became a member of Greater St. Luke AME Church in Charleston, S.C. She was a faithful lifetime member until declining health prevented her attendance.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter and son-in-law, Julie and (Charlie) Deloach; two sons, Mr. John Pinckney, and Mr. Robert Pinckney, both of Charleston, S.C.; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, cousins, and a host of special friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, April 12, 2002, in the Greater St. Luke AME Church, 78 Gordon St., Charleston, S.C.
